OPTIVIEW VMS Download and guide, We are proud to offer the free Optiview Video Management Software (VMS) with all embedded DVRs and NVRs. While each DVR and NVR have their own intuitive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for recording set up, live view and playback, they are limited to one machine at a time. With the Optiview VMS, users can view single or multiple machines remotely or on site. The Optiview VMS will also manage up to 256 devices (IP cameras or individual DVR/NVR’s) for a total of up to 2048 channels.

The Optiview VMS supports IP/Megapixel cameras, Analog, HD-over-Coax and IP/Network recorders. Another aspect of this powerful system is the fact that the 64-channel preview screens can be opened in up to 4 windows for live viewing up to 256 channels at the same time.

While all cameras will record on their local recorders, the VMS allows for up to 16 channels to record locally on the home or work PC. 36 channels can be chosen for playback in increments of 24 hour periods.

OVERVIEW

The Optiview VMX and VMX+ remote viewing platforms are both powerful, all-in-one professional, project level video surveillance management software. The Optiview VMX Client can be downloaded for free, and will support up to 64 network cameras and intercoms, and supports 1 user account. View up to 512 cameras and 256 Video Intercom devices, integrate multiple access control units, and access advanced analytics by upgrading to the Optiview VMX+.

COMPATIBILITY

Optiview VMX is compatible with all Optiview IP-enabled devices: network cameras, NVRs, DVRs, video intercom devices, and access control devices. The server is also compatible with the ONVIF protocol, so it can connect to ONVIF-enabled third-party devices, such as some of Optiview’s third party manufacturers. PLAYBACK

The Optiview VMX platform allows for quick and easy playback of surveillance footage from both the Live footage interface, and the Playback interface. Users can search by time, date, or event type. Users can also zoom in on the timeline, and drag through the timeline with video scrubbing. Download multiple video files at a time, take single frame snapshots, or a ‘burst’ of snapshots.

SMART SEARCH

Search through your surveillance footage quickly and efficiently by using Smart Search, and targeting the area of the screen where motion would have occurred.

INSTANT PLAYBACK

Thought you saw something? Click “Instant Playback” for an immediate jump back in time to 30 seconds in the past to re-review your surveillance footage.

FISHEYE CAMERA SUPPORT

The software features full support for Optiview Fisheye cameras. The software supports options for the Fisheye camera installation and supports dewarping Optiview’s 360° panoramic fisheye cameras in both live view, and in playback. Because dewarp happens at the software level, the video is always recorded in full fisheye, even if the live view is being dewarped. This allows viewers to see the entire video, and dewarp sections of the video at any given time.

REAL-TIME FACE RECOGNITION

The Optiview VMX/+ performs real-time facial recognition on up to two (2) / thirty two (32) channels simultaneously. The software captures and analyzes facial features to determine gender, age, expression, glasses, mustache, and mask, and then can record the faces and store the associated structured data. The server also filters incoming video to display faces that match target features. Facial recognition requires a camera that supports this feature.

ACCESS CONTROL & VIDEO INTERCOM

Optiview VMX offers full support and integration for access control and video intercom products to support a complete security and surveillance system. The server monitors door status and events, manages access rights, and support advanced rules management. In addition to access controls, the server supports two-way communication between intercom and control center.

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE VMS AND THE VMX?

The Optiview VMS and the Optiview VMX are both multi-site remote monitoring software that can be used to view cameras and devices from a centralized location. The VMS is ideal for residential and commercial use, where basic camera surveillance is the primary need. The VMX, however, has an advanced access control module, and can support advanced surveillance such as facial recognition, traffic density, ANPR license plate database capture, and more. WHY DO I HAVE TO START USING THE VMX?

The free Optiview Video Management Software (VMS) is our legacy remote viewing software, and will no longer be supported going forward. Instead, download our all new Optiview VMX, our powerful new remote viewing software; The user is able to choose between a free VMX, and a more advanced VMX+ with additional features. The new VMX and VMX+ provide a more stable management and viewing platform for CCTV and Access Control, as well as providing many new features. Not sure which solution is right for you? WHEN WILL THE VMS STOP BEING SUPPORTED AND AVAILABLE?

The Optiview VMS 2018 will continue to be available to download for a limited amount of time, but will no longer be supported going forward.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF DEVICES THAT CAN BE PUT ON THE FREE VMX OR THE PAID VMX+?

The free version of the Optiview VMX will suport up to 64 cameras. If the user wants to view more than 64 cameras, they will have to purchase the Base License, and then an additional license for each channel, up to 512. See which software is right for you here!

HOW DO I UPGRADE FROM THE VMS TO THE VMX?

The VMX software is completely different from the Optiview VMS and a user can use both. The VMX Server and Client software can be downloaded here.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE VMX SERVER AND THE VMX CLIENT?

The server runs all the services and acts as a connection point for several clients that will handle the management of configurations, devices and integrations of one or more IP devices supported by the Optiview VMX software.

IF I HAVE THE SERVER DOWNLOADED, HOW DO I DOWNLOAD THE CLIENT?

The client can be downloaded using the link from the server user interface labeled as “Download Client”. I also made a link for the Client software within our technical support page which Georgia can use, to make a download link within the product resource page.

CAN I DESIGNATE THE NUMBER OF CAMERA CHANNELS BEING SEEN BY THE VMX PER DVR OR NVR?

Yes. The number of cameras “actually” in use by a device (for example a 32-ch NVR) can be designated within the VMX so that it can only sees the actual number of channels. For example, If a user is using multiple 32 channel recorders but not all channels, the VMX can be set to not count every single channel and maximize the usage.

CAN I DESIGNATE THE NUMBER OF ACCESS CONTROL DOORS BEING SEEN BY THE VMX?

No. Whatever the maximum number of doors that an access control panel can handle is, that is what the VMX will see. For example, a CAS-4MC (4 door master control panel) is expandable up to 64 doors, so this will max out the VMX. No additional master control panels can be added unless the user upgrades to the paid version of the Optiview VMX.

CAN I SEE THE HUMAN TEMPERATURE DETECTION & NOTIFICATION SOLUTION ON THE VMX?

The human temperature text overlay can be seen at LIVE mode and Playback mode at the VMX.

HOW MANY USERS CAN ACCESS THE VMX AT ONE TIME?

For the FREE version, only 1 user can access the VMX at any given time, regardless of how many clients are downloaded. With the paid version, up to 100 active users are able to access the VMX Server at any given time via multiple clients. See which software is right for you here!

How to Download and Prepare Firmware

Description

This guide will show how to download and prepare the firmware file for a Dahua device.

Firmware files for Dahua devices can be found at Firmware by Device or the specific product page for the device

Firmware is typical provided in a ZIP file, a compressed file format

This file will contain the actual firmware file, which needs to be extracted from the ZIP file in preparation for the upgrade

Prerequisites

• Computer with internet access (to download firmware file)

• Dahua device

Confirm the Model and current firmware of Dahua device

1. Enter the IP of the device into a browser

At the Web Login

Enter the Username and Password

Click Login

2. Click Info

3. Click Version

The Device Type will be displayed

The current System Version will be displayed

Download the firmware file for device from DahuaWiki

4. In a browser go to DahuaWiki.com

Under Specifications, Firmware, & Manuals

Click the device type (in this example Recorder)

5. Enter the device model into the field

6. The results will be filtered

7. Click the firmware icon to download the firmware file

8. The file will download

Extract the firmware file to local computer

9. Right click the Start Menu / Windows icon in the bottom left of the screen

Select File Explorer

10. Select Desktop

11. Click Home

Then click New folder to create a new folder to extract the contents of the firmware zip file

12. Find the created folder in the list, double click to open

13. Under the Downloads window of the browser, click ‘Show in folder’

A new File Explorer window should open containing the directory the firmware zip was downloaded to

Locate the file in the list

14. Right click

Select Cut

15. Select the window with the new directory

Single Device Upgrade

1. Open ConfigTool and click on Search Setting at the top

2. Check the boxes for both Current Segment Search and Other Segment Search.
Enter the IP range for the device you are looking for in Start IP and End IP.
Enter the login information for that device in Username and Password.
Then click OK at the bottom

3. Click on Device Upgrade on the left.
Find the device you want to upgrade in the list and click on the Folder icon next to it under the Upgrade File Path column

4. Use the file explorer to find the firmware file on your computer and select it.
Then click on Open

5. Verify the file path is listed next to the device in the list.
Then click on the Upgrade icon to the right of the device in the Operate column

6. Click on OK

7. The progress bar will fill up as the device is upgraded

8. Once the device has been successfully upgraded you will see a Green Check Mark next to it in the list

Batch Device Upgrade

1. Open ConfigTool and click on Search Setting at the top

2. Check the boxes for both Current Segment Search and Other Segment Search.
Enter the IP range for the devices you are looking for in Start IP and End IP.
Enter the login information for those devices in Username and Password.
Then click OK at the bottom

3. Click on Device Upgrade on the left.
Find the devices you want to upgrade in the list and check the boxes next to them. (Make sure all devices you check require the same firmware.)
Then click on Batch Upgrade at the top

4. Click on OK

5. Click on Browse

6. Use the file explorer to find the firmware file on your computer and select it.
Then click on Open

7. Click OK at the bottom

8. The progress bars will fill up as the devices are upgraded

9. Once the devices have been successfully upgraded you will see Green Check Marks next to them in the list

Recorder Firmware Update via Online

Description

This page will show you how to update your Dahua Recorder online.

Note: All devices should be “Factory Reset” once the firmware update is complete.

When the NVR detects there is a newer firmware in the server, a ‘1′ icon will appear at the System icon.

The entire process takes about 5 minutes depending on network connection.

Dahua SmartPSS AC Complete User Guide, SmartPSS-AC is new platform software featuring lightweight, flexibility and specialization. It is designed for small and medium scenarios in solutions and can connect to various Dahua security products. Users can easily obtain the needed platform client that is used by corresponding solution.

Currently SmartPSS-AC has full function modules for attendance check and access solutions. It can connect to Dahua attendance check terminal, fingerprint/card/password access control devices, and access controller. It can meet the needs for attendance check of small and medium enterprises, such as making shift schedule, arranging staff shift, extracting attendance data, processing abnormality data, and exporting report.

In access solution, there are some new functions, such as scheduled extraction of attendance records at multiple time points, feedback function to improve user experience and more.

This article will show the steps on how to add an Access Controller to SMARTPSS-AC and change the Door Names easily identify the doors as we go through the configurations.

Important

• Access Controller must be on latest firmware or it may continuously go offline. Please check the firmware version of your controller before continuing through the instructions.

Step by Step Instructions

1. Open SmartPSS-AC and go to Device Manager

2. Click on Add

3. Enter the appropriate information of the access controller then click on add to finish adding the device.

4. You know it was successfull once you see the green status with Online.

5. At this point we recommend you go into the configuration of each door to rename them for an easier experience going forward.

Go back home and go to Access Configuration

6. On the left tabs click on Access Config -> then click on the door you want to rename -> then under the Door entry type the new name
Then click on Save

7. You should now see the Doors renamed

This article will show how to setup and create Time templates and Holiday schedules.

Time Templates are your normal everyday time schedules. These can be linked to your Permission Groups or Door Configuration Timezones.
Holiday Plans with override regular Time Templates on specific dates. These need to be linked with the Time Template creation.

Step by Step Instructions

Time Template

1. Go to Access Configuration

2. For these instructions we will create a 9am to 5pm Shift. Anything filled in with green is considered the Granted Access time. Greyed-out areas mean No Access

–Click on Add
–Give the Schedule a name and enter a description
–Click on the gear icon to edit the schedule

3. Now enter the time frame you want the doors to be active. You can also add multiple periods by clicking on +. You can also select the days you want the periods to take affect. For these instructions we will have a single period from 9am – 5pm ever single day of the week.

Holiday Plan

This section of the instructions will go over the Holiday Plan creation. Holidays will override the Week Plan we just created on specific days. In this example we will show a New Years Holiday plan with No Access during that date.

4. Go to Holiday Plan

5. Select the gear icon to modify the schedule

6. Edit the schedule you would like the Holiday plan to take. Then click on OK

7. You can now see the schedule take affect on the timeline. Now go to Add under “Holiday List“

8. Here you will create the Holiday plan details

–Give the Holiday Plan a name
-Set the date you would like the Holiday Plan to take
-Set the amount of days the Holiday will take affect

Then click on OK to continue

9. Make sure you check the Holiday we just created to link it to the Holiday Schedule. Then click on Save

10. The Holiday is now in effect

Description

This article will go over adding users with all three methods of authentication for doors on SmartPSS-AC.

• How to add a user: Adding users through the “Personnel Manager” tab will allow you to open doors via the three authentication methods (Pins, Cards, Fingerprints)

• How to assign PINs to Users: PINs can be assigned to each user to be able to open a door. PINs need to be at least a 6 digit number.

• How to assign Cards to Users: Cards can be assigned via Dahua Card Reader or using Dahua Card Enrollment Reader (ASM100)

• How to assign Fingerprints to Users: Fingerprints can be assigned to users via Dahua Fingerprints Reader or Dahua Fingerprint Enrollment Reader (ASM202)

Step by Step Instructions

How to add a User

1. Go to Personnel Manager

2. Click on Add

3. Assign the user a User ID and a Name. Click on the dropdown arrow to reveal more details.

4. You can now further customize the user’s entry. Click Finish to complete adding the user.

How to assign PINs to Users

5. Go to Certification on the user.

6. Click on Add to create a PIN

7. Enter at least a 6-digit password and confirm it. Then click on OK to save the entry. Then click on Finish to finalize the new PIN.

Note: to enter the PIN you will need to enter the UserID#6-digit# (i.e. 1#123456#)

How to assign Cards to Users

8. To add a card you first need to select the method. Click on the Gear Icon to select the method of adding the card.

9. If you purchased the ASM100 then select Card Issuer

10. Then click on Add

11. Scan the card on the ASM100 and the number will populate on the box entry. Click on OK to confirm.

12. If you are using an existing Card Reader on the Access Controller then select the Door the reader is on. In this example I have the Card Reader on Door 1 which I renamed to Front Door.

13. Scan the card and the number should populate on the box entry. Click on OK to confirm.

14. You will now see the Card entry if done correctly. Click on Finish to save any changes.

How to assign Fingerprints to Users

15. To add a Finger print you first need to select the method. Go to the gear Icon to select how you will be registering the fingerprint.

16. If you purchased our ASM202 select Fingerprint Scanner

17. Then click on Add

18. Select Add Fingerprint, then place your finger on the scanner. It will need to scan your finger a total of three times. Please wait for the beep after each scan.

19. In this article we will be using a Fingerprint reader on door 2 named Side Door.

20. Select Add Fingerprint, then place your finger on the scanner. It will need to scan your finger a total of three times. Please wait for the beep after each scan.

21. You will see the fingerprint entry if done successfully.

22. Click on Finish to save any changes.

Step by Step Instructions

1. Open SmartPSS-AC and go to Personnel Manager

2. Click on the Permission Configuration tab on the left menus

3. To start creating a Permission Group click on the + icon

4. Follow these next following step

1. Give the door group a name and add a decryption or remark
2. Select the time template you created or select any of the pre-configured ones. In this tutorial we will be selecting the one we created “Front Door Schedule”
3. Select the Doors that will follow the time template
4. Click on OK to save it.

5. We now need to add users to the Permission Group to give them authorization to the linked Doors. Click on the “User” icon to start.

6. Select the users you want to give permission to the doors. Then click on OK to save the changes.

7. The Door group has now been created and you can verify to make sure the users and doors were saved correctly by checking on the permission group.

How to configure the POS function from Safire Control Center

NOTE:

POS function is present on the entire 8000 series NVR range and the entry-level 4KE range has POS function.

Also in some of the 6000 series (still to be verified)

The POS function on NVRs can only be configured from the local interface of the recorder itself or from Safire Control Center.

In NVRs, the POS is considered metadata (the same as a line crossing or area intrusion, like a VCA).

In XVRs it will not allow the POS configuration from the web interface, since the POS would be “printed” on the video stream itself.

CONFIGURATION POS NVR SAFIRE CONTROL CENTER

In the device management part, click on advanced settings:

We click on POS, and the first thing that appears is the POS rule configuration.

From here we can configure the operating hours, notification link methods, or relay activations, as well as configure the desired camera function by selecting the POS area, how we want it to be displayed on the screen, etc.

Display modes

Scroll: The screen is filled with information, and the first information is scrolled.
Page: The information appears all at once as it is scanned on the screen. If the second piece of information is scanned, the first information is removed.

In the next part, we configure the font. Here we make special mention of the font because not all fonts are supported by the web interface and the Safire Control Center. Only the LATIN-1 font can be displayed in real-time and in the Safire Control Center and web interface recordings.

In the local interface of the recorder, any font that the recorder allows us to use can be displayed.

Finally, the connection mode is to set the IP and port of the printer that will send us the information. We can connect several printers and assign them with the Filter Rule ID so that as you can see in the first screenshot, a different Filter Rule ID should be applied to each channel since a printer is usually used per camera (imagine a supermarket checkout, with several scanners).

When viewing and recording, as I said before that the POS is treated as a VCA, to be able to search by POS later in Safire Control Center, we should set the recording by POS in the recording schedule, like this:

VISUALIZATIONS

Now, in SCC, if we go to Real-Time we can see the result of the POS as long as we have configured the font as LATIN-1:

In recordings we can search directly by POS events from here:

Search by specific KEYWORDs if we need it:

And finally, we would only get POS events as a result, which if we play it back shows the whole text string printed in the recording:

If, on the other hand, we want to visualize the POS information, from the web interface of the recorder, we don’t have to forget to enable this in the CONFIGURATION -> LOCAL part

How to recover password by email or recovery questions

To recover the password:

1. Open SADP Tool2

. Click on “Forgot Password”

3. Use the questions or the email option

4. If the email option is chosen

Save the QR and send the QR to the email address pw_recovery@device-service.com as an attachment. (Or use the XML code)

In general, when using automated email services, you will get a retrieval file within 5 minutes.

This email address only works when you have registered the email address you registered on the device. See the article: Safire – Prepare for lost passwords

When you have received the email

Use the verification code from the email and create a new password

Note:

When deactivating the Safire network cameras that are connected to the NVR for which you have requested password recovery, also select (A) “Reset Network Camera’s Passwords”.

When not using email or questions on the device

Select the secret key export/import mode and send the XML file to your supplier or distributor.

They will process the recovery and get back to you with the key in your mail.

Please note that this is not an automated process and may take time.

Note:

The file you receive is valid for a period of 48 hours. You cannot shut down or restart your computer until after you have completed all the steps.

How to manually activate relay outputs on Safire recorders and cameras

To activate the relay output from a Safire video recorder or from an IP camera, we can proceed in two different ways:

Via web component

Via Safire Control Center (SCC), the brand’s main PC software

Via the Safire Connect mobile application – works both via IP (local management) and via P2P (remote management)

How to add a map with the location of the elements in Safire Central

In this article we explain several ways to configure different maps.

Mode 1: create a map from a GIS

First we open the web server to configure it. From the settings part we can generate a map from a GIS file, as shown in the following screenshot:

Then, we go to the Logical Visualization part to define which groups of cameras we create and where we will place them.

To add a camera to the map, select the camera and the following configuration menu will open:

We select the icon we want (we can also import one), and we will click save. Then the camera will appear on the map.

In this way we could create a general map with the devices we want. We click on so that the changes are applied in the Safire Central Control Client and we go right to the Control Client that we just mentioned.

We click on the map that appears in the Safire Central drop-down part to the left of the screenshot, and the map with all the devices that we have configured before will appear in the main part from the web server interface:

Here we can receive the alarms in real time and view the cameras at the time we want.

Mode 2: create individual map

First, we select the group on which we will configure the map:

We enable the map option, we load an image and we give it to save:

Next, we select each device and enable the map option as we have done previously and click save:

IMPORTANT: a camera cannot be associated with two different maps (it cannot be associated with a GIS map and an individual map at the same time). If it is selected in the general map, it cannot be associated with another. Similarly, if it is associated with an individual map, it cannot be associated with a general map.

Sending reports by email in Safire Control Center

To receive e-mails with the reports of the users, we will have to carry out the following steps:

How to install Safire Control Center on Windows Server 2012

Generally if you are installing the software on a Windows Server 2012 account with administrator permissions using the latest version that is digitally signed, you will have no problem.

Windows Server 2012 R2 is supported by the manufacturer and we know that it has been installed correctly on other occasions.

Additionally, we recommend checking if any anti-malware or firewall software may be filtering and preventing the normal installation.

Buttons are failing in Safire Control Center!

What to do when some applications of Safire Control Center 3.1.1 just won’t work or even open?

For example: we press the people button and we visualize the loading roulette, but then it just keeps rolling without actually initiating any process.

We would only have to delete, in the task manager section of our PC, the software watchdog process (32 bits) as shown in the following image. Then, we would just have to run Safire Control Center again.

It is possible that this error appears when you start Safire Control Center:

What you need to do to avoid this situation to repeat itself is to change the application port, as the 8080 is usually occupied by other applications (especially the other Safire applications, such as the Safire Control Center AC).

Our recommendation is to change it to anything that is not being used. For example 8081 or 7999.

Zoom problems Safire Connect APP

This happens in version V3.10.1.1015 and is resolved with the following update.

The problem is usually the horizontal left-right movement after having entered the digital zoom, since the channel change is prioritized over the displacement within the same zoom.

Possible solutions:

– select only the camera of interest before opening its image, rather than selecting it from a group of preloaded video streams

– perform a vertical physical movement (up-down) and, without lifting the finger, perform the horizontal movement, which will already be done correctly.

How To Configure Hikvision iVMS-4200 Camera Management Software

iVMS-4200 is a camera management software that is made and maintained by Hikvision. It can be used to monitor, playback, adjust settings, and manage the cameras from a computer or a laptop. So, instead of doing all the surveillance via the DVR or NVR, you can perform everything from a computer.

It’s very convenient if the unit is installed somewhere else, and you can manage everything from the comfort of your chair.

This easy-to-follow guide shows how to configure the iVMS-4200 software, how to add your camera system, how to modify settings, etc. The instructions serve as a good start for someone who just installed the software on the computer and is looking forward to managing their cameras.

How to initialize iVMS-4200 software

The first thing that you have to do is download and install the iVMS-4200 on your Windows PC or Mac.

Once the software has been installed, you can open iVMS-4200 and use the Device Management screen found in the Device Management tab and to add, configure new and existing devices, as well as remove devices.

How to add a new device on iVMS-4200

To add a new device (which can be a standalone IP camera, DVR, NVR) click on the Add button located under the Device for Management header.

If you are adding a device that is on your local network, you should see it listed at the bottom under Online Device. If you do see it, just click on it then click Add + under Online Device.

If you are adding a device remotely (that is on the internet), you should click Add + under Device for Management near the top middle area of your screen.

Add window

Then you should see the Add Window with default settings on Adding Mode of IP/Domain. The most commonly used modes encountered here are IP/Domain and Cloud P2P.
Nickname: Enter a name for the location such as “my home”, “my store”, etc. This nickname is used to identify your system/location in the iVMS-4200 client in case you have a lot of systems added for display.

Address: Enter the IP address or Dynamic DNS name for the device. It can be just an external IP address of the DDNS hostname. If you’re not sure, check with the installer or inspect the phone app and mirror the settings.

Port: 8000 (this is the default one unless you have modified it).

User Name: This is the username of your security camera system. This name may be admin or a different name if you’ve created another account.

Password: This is the password used on or set up on the Hikvision system. In other words, it’s the password of your NVR, DVR, or standalone IP camera.

Synchronize Device Time: Leave this box un-ticked.

Export to Group: Leave this box checked.

Once all fields have been entered and confirmed correct, click the Add button. Once it is added, click the Next button. Click Finish when complete. That’s all, your system has now been added.

Cloud P2P Domain (via Hik-Connect)

New Hikvision devices can now use a Hikvision cloud-based P2P method for connecting and viewing cameras remotely over the internet without the need to open any ports or make special rules on the firewall.
To add a Hik-Connect or Cloud P2P device, you should:

Click on Add New Device Type button listed under the Device Type in the Device Management screen.
Place a checkmark next to Cloud P2P Device and click OK.
Click on Cloud P2P Device now listed under Device Type in the Device Management screen.
Click the Login button shown and enter your Hik-Connect user information and click Login or if you do not have an account, click on Register and fill out the information requested.

Once added, come back to this screen and add the devices to iVMS-4200 by placing a checkmark next to the device(s) and clicking the Add button.
If you do not go through these steps you’ll see a message that says: “Please log in to the Cloud 2P2 account first before using this function.”

Note: You can create a Hik-Connect account, log in, change sharing settings, and more by using the Hik-Connect app

Modifying a Device

To modify an existing device, click on the device listed and choose the Modify option under the Device for Management heading.
Nickname: Enter a Nickname for this location’s system. This nickname is used to identify your system/location in the iVMS-4200 client. For example, you can use “home”, “store”, “building 1”, etc.

Address: Enter the IP address or Dynamic DNS name for the device. You should get this information from the installer or on the device’s settings.

Port: 8000 (this is the default port)
User Name: This is the username of the DVR or the NVR. This name may be admin or a different name if you have created other accounts

Password: This is the password used to access the DVR or the NVR

Synchronize Device Time – Leave this box unchecked

Once all fields have been entered and confirmed correct, click the Modify button. If all is done correctly, your system has now been modified!

This is another method to add your system to the iVMS-4200. Access the video wizard by clicking on Help > Open Video Wizard at the top of the iVMS-4200 application. Click on the Device and Storage Schedule Configuration button and follow the prompts in the wizard.

Adding the Stream Key

If you get this error message: The video is encrypted Input the stream key to view the video error.
To increase security, Hik-Connect camera connections require a stream encryption key to be inputted before the live video will play. This is done to encrypt the whole streams and to avoid a hacker from being a middleman between you and your security system.

Enter the encryption key in the box and click the OK button for each camera connected. You can also add and copy the key to all cameras on the Device Management screen.

Add, Modify and Copy the Encrypted Video Stream Key via the Device Management screen

To add, modify or copy the stream key, click on Device Management > Group > find your camera number or name then highlight it by clicking on it then click Modify.

You can also copy the stream key to your other cameras by clicking on the Copy to… button. We always recommend encrypting your videos in order to increase the overall security of your system.

Install and Setup IVMS-4200 Client software (Windows PC)

INSTALLING IVMS-4200

If you haven’t already downloaded the IVMS-4200 Client Software you can do so via the link below. When you visit the link below you will see a few IVMS-4200 versions, make sure you download the latest version (which ever the highest numbers showing after the “v” example: v2.x.x.x) and hence this tutorial is for windows, ensure you download the windows version and not the MAC.

SETUP IVMS-4200

IVMS-4200 Software user login

The software should now be installed, open it. If you’re using the software for the first time it will prompt you with a box requesting the following: Super User, Password, Confirm Password – This is the login details for the software ONLY, NOT for your recorder. Enter any username and password, enter the password again. If you don’t want the software to keep asking you for the password every time the software is opened then check the Enable Auto-login box.

Adding recorder to IVMS-4200 software

On the top right corner of the IVMS-4200 software, click Control Panel, then on the Control Panel click Device Management. If the computer is connected to the same network and your recorder, on the bottom under Online Devices you will see your recorder listed, simply select the recorder and click Add to Client.

You will now be prompted with a dialogue box, use the following settings:

Nickname: (Any nickname, i.e John’s CCTV)
Address: This is the recorder’s IP address, the IP address will already be there, do not change it.
Port: This is the recorder’s port, by default it should be 8000, do not change it.
User Name: This is the user name that you use to login to your recorder, unless another user has been added, by default you will have admin.
Password: This is the password associated to the user on the recorder, if you are using the admin account, this will be the password that it’s been entered when the recorder was powered up for the first time.

Click Add to add the recorder to IVMS-4200.

Hikvision iVMS-4200 – Adding New NVR for Remote Access

In order to remotely access a Hikvision NVR from a computer, you will require several things:

Your NVR is configured for remote access (set up by the installer)
Your local network is configured to allow remote access to the NVR which usually entails port forwarding (usually setup by the installer though may require assistance from your IT department)
Hikvision’s iVMS-4200 has been downloaded and installed on your computer (linked at Hikvision – Software)

Once you have installed iVMS and booted it up for the first time, it will ask you to setup a super user for the application. This is unrelated to any camera system you may want to setup on it. Once the super user is setup, you can proceed with adding the camera system to the software. You can add multiple camera systems to iVMS (e.g., you have multiple sites with their own camera systems).

From the Main Menu tab, go the Maintenance and Management menu on the far right and select Device Management

On the Maintenance and Management tab, near the top and on the left, select Device if not already selected in both locations (usually is selected by default)

To start adding a new Hikvision video recorder, click + Add (to the left of Online Device)

The Add dialogue window will appear on the right side

For Adding Mode , make sure the radio button for IP/Domain is selected (filled in)

For Add Offline Device , make sure the check box is Disabled (left empty)

For Name , enter what you would like to call the recorder (for our example below, we are using Reed Test)

For Address , enter the NVR address provided by Reed Security (for our example below, we are using reedtest.reedhd.com )

For Transmission Encryption , make sure the check box is Disabled (left empty)

For Port , leave at 8000 (unless otherwise advised by Reed Security)

For User Name , use the one provided/setup by Reed Security for you (for our example, we are using reed test)

For Password , use the one provided/setup by Reed Security for you (regardless of your password, it will show as a number of dots ( ● )

For Synchronize Time, make sure the check box is Disabled (left empty)

For Import to Group , make sure the check box is En abled (checked marked)

If the connection information and login credentials are correctly entered, after a short interval, the NVR will appear in white, it will populate the Serial No., and will show the Resource Usage Status as Online (see green box in example below)

If there is a configuration or login error, the NVR will appear in grey, will not populate the Serial No. and will show the Resource Usage Status as Offline (see red box in example below). An error message will also appear in the lower right for a short period indicating if there is a connectivity issue or login issue.

If you need to edit any configuration information, click the Edit icon ( ) in the Operation section to the right end of the NVR’s information in the Device screen of the Maintenance and Management tab. This is useful if you made an error when setting up the NVR.

View cameras live on IVMS-4200 software

To view live cameras on IVMS-4200 go to Control Panel and click on Main View.

At this point your cameras may not be showing, this is because you haven’t selected the cameras that you want to view live.

Now depending how many cameras you have, the live view screen need to be split. Example, let’s say you have 4 cameras on your recorder and you would like to view all 4 cameras simultaneously, simply click the under Default View. The live view window will now split into 4 live view screens. Under Camera click and drag the camera to one of the four live view screens, select another camera and do the same thing (but drag it to the next screen) and so on. You should now have a camera on each live view screen.

View cameras live on IVMS-4200 software

To view live cameras on IVMS-4200 go to Control Panel and click on Main View.

At this point your cameras may not be showing, this is because you haven’t selected the cameras that you want to view live.

Configure Hikvision iVMS-4200 Client

iVMS-4200 Client Software is a management software for Hikvision Devices. You can manage devices on the client, including adding, modifying and deleting devices. You can also perform operations such as checking online users and QR code for devices.

Install Hikvision iVMS-4200

Download and install iVMS-4200 Client Software on your local PC.

Register and Log in Hikvision iVMS-4200

You should register a super user and then you can log in the client with the super user account as administrator.

Register a User

For the first time using the client software, you should register a super user for login.

Perform the following steps to register a super user for login.

1. After installing the client, double click to run the software.

1. Create a user name and password for the super user.
2. Confirm the password.
3. Optional: Check the Enable Auto-login checkbox to log in to the software automatically.
4. Click Register to register the super user.
Login

Perform this task if you want to log in to the client software.

1. Run the client software to open login dialog.

1. Input the user name and password you registered.
2. Check the Enable Auto-login checkbox to log in to the software automatically for next running.
3. Click Login to log in to the client software.

Activate Intercom Video Devices

For some devices, you are required to create the password to activate them before they can be added to the software and work properly.

Perform this task to activate device:

Go to Device Management > Online Device.
Check the device status (shown on Security column) and select an inactive device.

Click Activate to open the Activation dialog.
Create a password in the Password field and confirm the password.

Add Devices to iVMS-4200 Client

All active online devices in the same local subnet with the client software will be displayed on the Online Device area. Add video intercom devices to iVMS-4200 Client so that you can configure and manage them on the client.

Choose one of the following methods:

+ Add to Client

You can add devices manually and specify nickname for identification on iVMS-4200 client.

1. Choose device and click + Add to Client.
2. Specify Nickname for the device and click Add.

1. Nickname: Enter a name for the device to identify. In this example, enter DS-KD8003-IME1.
2. Address: Enter IP address of the device. The IP address of the device is obtained automatically in this adding mode. In this example, IP address is 192.168.9.209.
3. Port: Enter the device port number. The default value is 8000.
4. User Name: Enter the user name to log in to the client. The default user name is admin.
5. Password: Enter the password to log in to the client. The default password is 12345.
+ Add All

You can add all online devices to the client software with just one-click.

1. Click Add All > OK.
2. Enter User Name and Password, and click Add. Then all available devices will be added to the iVMS-4200 Client with default setting.

User Name: Enter the user name to log in to the client. The default user name is admin.

Password: Enter the password to log in to the client. The default password is 12345.

For Windows 7: To confirm your Windows bit version, go to Control Panel > System and confirm System type as 32-Bit or 64-Bit.

CORTROL Client Installer

The CORTROL Client Installer can be found at Ganz Security/Software includes both the CORTROL Management Console, and the CORTROL Client installer.

From the link please select and download either CORTROL Console 32bit or 64bit, depending on the Windows OS bit version of the host server.

For convenience, links to the 32Bit, and 64Bit versions of the CORTROL Console are provided below.

Client Installation

Navigate to the Microsoft Windows download folder.
Double click on the CORTROL Client installer, to begin the installation process.
Select the installation language and click Next.
Accept the terms of agreement and click Next.
Accept default installation location and click Next. (Change location destination if required.)
Select the needed application language and click Next.
Once installation is complete, click Finish.

Client Configuration

To launch the CORTROL Client interface, double click on its desktop icon. H

The Client will require configuration, to connect to the CORTROL Global Demo Server.

Select “Disconnect”, as no server is currently configured.
Select “Connection” located in the top right corner.

Select the “Local Server” listed under “Connections, and then select “Edit”
Leave the default “Server title”

Enter “demo” all lower case for the “Username”

The “Demo” user have been giving no restriction on functionality within the GANZ CORTROL Client.

How do I use Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge to connect to my CCTV equipment on Windows 10 & 11?

There are some IP camera and NVR models that do not work well when you try to connect to them in modern web browsers (Internet Explorer Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), as they use firmware designed for use on the Internet Explorer engine.

Now that IE11 is being retired from Windows completely, the only way to access these devices will be to use a modern browser that can open webpages as if they were IE. If you’re using a Windows 10 or 11 PC, then the easiest option here is to use Microsoft Edge.

The following steps will show you how to enable IE mode in Edge and use this to load any necessary web pages:

Did you know that…

You can quickly add the URLs / IP addresses of other cameras that require IE to a list that opens in IE mode automatically.

To do so, just go back to:

Settings and more (Alt + F) → Settings → Default Browser

And click the Add button beside Internet Explorer mode pages.

This will bring up a popup in which you can enter each URL – click Add again to add it to the list.

Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) Being Retired on June 15th 2022 – How Will I Access My Hikvision System?

As we have been aware for many years, Windows has been slowly running down support for Internet Explorer. Last year they confirmed that IE11 would be completely retired from Windows 10 on June 15th 2022, after this date IE11 desktop application will no longer work and users will be redirected to use Edge.

Lots of users will also be aware that Hikvision products have been reliant on IE for browser access for many years, even with our and other users’ repeated requests for a complete solution for Hikvision products to work in modern browsers the solution has been slow coming.

With the June 15th date fast approaching Hikvision has released the attached documents that explain 3 main methods for browser access going forward and which models support which method, the methods are listed below:

1. Non-plug-in service (For modern browser access, not all models support this method)

2. Local service (Plug-in required)

3. IE compatibility mode on Edge browser

Some of the oldest Hikvision models may not support any of the above methods, if that is the case then you will have to use Hikvision’s desktop VMS software – iVMS-4200 – to access your Hikvision devices.

This is not the simple, clean solution we were hoping for from Hikvision and we are sure there will be issues discovered along the way, but it is a first step and hopefully means that all Hikvision users will have some way to access their systems going forward.

Step by Step Instructions

1. Open ConfigTool

Select “Password Reset” on the left.

Find the device in the list, and verify it has the XML reset option under “Support”.

You can select Multiple cameras per export file. Please select all the IP Cameras then click on “Batch Reset” to make a single XML file.

2. Click Agree

3. Select the Reset Mode drop-down and then select XML File

4. Click OK to confirm XML password reset method

5. The default location the XML file will be saved to is displayed. Click Browse Path to select a new location. Click Next

6. The ExportFile XML file will be created. Click OK to continue

7. This file will be used in the password reset process. Contact Dahua technical support via one of the methods HERE for the result file. Once you recieve the Result file, select Open and choose the file on your file system. Click Next

8. If the Result file is accepted, it will allow you to set the new password. Input a new password in the New Password and Confirm Password fields. Click Finish

9. If the password is successfully reset, you will see a Green Check Mark next to the camera in the list

2. Upon opening the ConfigTool application, here you can see Dahua Devices on the same LAN are located. Refresh if Dahua devices are not located. You can also manually locate the device by typing in the IP address of the device in the search.

3. To view the device live click on the IE (Internet Explorer) icon.

This will open an IE web browser to access the web service of the device.

Step by Step Instructions

1. From the Dahua ToolBox, open the ConfigTool.

3. Click on the upgrade icon. Here you will see a list of located Dahua devices.

With the appropriate firmware for the device model already downloaded, click on browse and locate the upgrade BIN file.

Once BIN file is located click on Open.

Click on upgrade. Once firmware is upgraded, the device should reboot and be ready to go.

Modify IP address of Dahua Device through ConfigTool via Dahua ToolBox

1. Launch the Dahua ToolBox and open the ConfigTool.

Upon opening the ConfigTool application, here you can see Dahua Devices on the same LAN are located. Refresh if Dahua devices are not located. You can also manually locate the device by typing in the IP address of the device in the search.

2. To modify IP address of selected device, select the edit button.

Note: this step pertains if Dahua Devices are using factory default user names and passwords.

This page will show you how to upgrade the firmware of your Dahua device via ConfigTool

Note: All devices should be “Factory Reset” once the firmware update is complete.

Step by Step Instructions

Single Device Upgrade

1. Open ConfigTool and click on Search Setting at the top

3. Click on Device Upgrade on the left.
Find the device you want to upgrade in the list and click on the Folder icon next to it under the Upgrade File Path column

4. Use the file explorer to find the firmware file on your computer and select it.
Then click on Open

5. Verify the file path is listed next to the device in the list.
Then click on the Upgrade icon to the right of the device in the Operate column

6. Click on OK

7. The progress bar will fill up as the device is upgraded

8. Once the device has been successfully upgraded you will see a Green Check Mark next to it in the list

Batch Device Upgrade

1. Open ConfigTool and click on Search Setting at the top

4. Click on OK

5. Click on Browse

6. Use the file explorer to find the firmware file on your computer and select it.
Then click on Open

7. Click OK at the bottom

8. The progress bars will fill up as the devices are upgraded

9. Once the devices have been successfully upgraded you will see Green Check Marks next to them in the list

ConfigTool Template Setup

Creating the template: Back up or save the video and encoding parameters for the device.
Applying the template: Restore or batch configuring the video and encoding parameters for the device.

Export Device Config

1. Launch Toolbox, and login.

2. Download and install ConfigTool.

3. Launch ConfigTool.

4. Click Search Setting at the top of the window

5. Enter the credentials (username and password) for the device, then click OK

6. Click on the icon at the bottom of the bar on the left hand side of ConfigTool.

7. Click on the Folder icon with the two green arrows.

8. A prompt will pop up asking, “Export template from device?” click, “OK”

9. Locate the device you want to export the configuration of in the device list, and left click on it.

10. Click, “Export”

11. A prompt will pop up asking, “Export template from (IP Address of Device Selected), continue? Click, “OK”

12. Input a name into “Template Name”

13. Click, “Save as”

At this point ConfigTool crashed. I relaunched ConfigTool, and get, “Export Template Failed”

14. A prompt will pop up asking where you would like to save the file. Select where you would like to save the file, and click, “OK”

Import Device Config

1. Launch Toolbox, and login.

2. Download and install ConfigTool.

3. Launch ConfigTool.

4. Click Search Setting at the top of the window

5. Enter the credentials (username and password) for the device, then click OK

6. Click on the icon at the bottom of the bar on the left hand side of ConfigTool.

7. Click on the Folder icon without the two green arrows.

8. A window will pop up, click, “Browse” and locate the Device Template file you backed up in the previous instructions.

9. Click on the Device Template file, then click, “Open”

10. Click, “OK”

11. The template settings should load and display in ConfigTool. Verify that all the settings are correct.

12. Click, “Template Application”

13. A window will pop up stating, “The file exists, do you want to overwrite it?” select, “OK”

14. Expand the dropdown box on the right hand side to list all the devices.

15. Check the box next to the device you wish to apply the template.

16. Click, “OK”

17. A window will pop up stating, “Configure 1 device(s) using template “C:/ProgramFiles/Toolsbox/Template_Name.xml” click, “OK”

A green check mark will confirm a successful import

NOTE: A yellow exclamation icon will display next to a device when there is an issue with the import.

Click the icon to obtain more details about which setting(s) were not successfully imported

1. Under “Management”, click “Camera”

7. Confirm the prompt

8. Use the dropdown box next to Reset Mode to select XML File

The default Export Path will be displayed where the XML will be saved. Click BrowsePath to modify this location.

Click Next to proceed

A prompt will confirm a successful reset and generation of the XML file.

PLEASE NOTE: The next steps require the assistance of Dahua Technical Support to complete the process. Please contact Dahua Technical Support via one of the methods once you have generated an XML file HERE

9. Navigate to the location where the XML file was exported to. default file name is ExportFile.xml

10. Send the exported xml file as an attachment to the email address: support_rpwd@dahuatech.com

Then 2 or 3 minutes later, you will receive an email with the attached XML file

Save the results.XML file to the computer

11. In VDPConfig at the Reset Password interface click Open

12. Select the results.xml file click Open

13. Click Next

14. Once the reset is successful it will prompt to create a new password for the device.

Enter the new password and again to confirm

Click Complete

A green checkmark next to the device will confirm a successful password reset

1. Connect the wireless bridge and computer as seen below

2. Right click the network icon in the taskbar on the computer

Select “Open Network and Sharing Center”

3. Click “Change adapter settings” on the left side of the screen

4. Select the network adapter that is connected to the device

5. Right click, select Properties

5. Select ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the list then click “Properties” button

6. Select “Use the following IP address” then enter a static IP for the computer that will match the wireless device once it is reset

For this guide we will set the computer to the following information in Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties:

IP address: 192.168.1.20
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

7. Open Reset Tool by clicking Reset Tool. jar

8. The Status will show “Ready”

9. With the Reset Tool open on the computer, reboot the wireless bridge (power off/on). The Reset Tool will scan for the wireless bridge automatically

10. Click “Reset” to begin the reset process

11. The Reset Tool will attempt to connect to the device

12. The Enter PIN code prompt will appear. The PIN code will be the last 4 numbers of the S/N (serial number) which can be found on the actual device.

13. At the Enter PIN code prompt, enter the last 4 numbers of the Serial Number for the device then click Enter

Note: You must finish all steps of the Reset function within 60s or you have to reboot the device and attempt again.

14. After entering the PIN code the wireless bridge will be reset to factory default settings

Find the device in the list

Click the Reset button

2. Click Agree to the prompts

Click OK to confirm XML password reset method

Click OK

The default location the XML file will be saved to is displayed

Click Browse Path to select a new location

Click Next

The ExportFile XML file will be created

3. Send the exported xml file as an attachment to the email address: support_gpwd@htmicrochip.com

Then 2 or 3 minutes later, you will receive an email with the attached XML file

Import the new XML file to config tool to finish the password reset operation.
