EZCLOUD REGISTRATION

Uniview provides a web portal to sign up and register an account with EZCloud. http://en.ezcloud.uniview.com It is recommended that Internet Explorer 8 or higher be used to view the web portal.

There are a few aspects to note about the web portal:

An account can also be registered through the EZView smart phone application. See Adding A Device -> EZView

ACCOUNT SIGN UP

.

Signing up an account is very similar to most other online account registration as seen from the image above. Enter in the proper information requested such as the Username, Password and a valid Email

address. Click the Acquire button to receive a registration email which provides a Verification Code. Please note that the email may take several minutes to arrive.

Enter the Verification Code into the box provided and click the Sign-up button to register the new EZCloud account.

PRO TIP: Integrators and Installers can setup an account and then share device access to customer accounts for managing multiple devices and providing support later.

ACCOUNT LOGIN

Login either with the Username or registered Email address created previously for account management. If the password has been forgotten, there is a link provide for password retrieval.

EZCLOUD MANAGEMENT

Once the register code is located, there are three different ways to add and manage devices on an existing EZCloud account; through the EZCloud web portal, through the EZView smart phone application and through the EZStation CMS.

REGISTER CODE

The Register Code is a unique 26 digit & character string that is used to connect a device to the EZCloud service. This code also comes in a QR format for quick scanning. There are a few places you can find the Register Code:

Note the QR Code on the sticker for quick adding the device to an EZCloud account via the EZView smart phone application (more on the EZView app later in this guide).

The myCloud feature is toggled on by default. Please note that a new myCloud account cannot be registered from the recorder interface.

NOTE: On some device firmware versions Uniview uses the title myCloud rather than EZCloud. The URL containing myCloud will redirect to the proper EZCloud URL accordingly.

NOTE: Currently (as of December 2015), the web interface of Uniview devices will only work properly on Internet Explorer version 8 or higher.

Once logged into the EZCloud web portal (as described in the EZCloud Registration guide section above), the backend will appear as the image shown above. To add a device, click the + Add Device button and a new webpage will display with entry boxes for both the Register Code and Device Name. The Register Code is the 26 digit and character string detailed in the section above. The Device Name is a title that represents the device being registered (e.g. Office B, 123 Elm St, ABC Company, etc.)

After clicking the Add button, the Device List will appear again with the newly registered device listed under My Cloud Devices. If the P2P service plug-in was not previously installed, the follow message will appear on the upper most portion of the web page:

On the management page, there are three different sections: My Cloud Devices, Shared Cloud Devices and Sharing Records.

MY CLOUD DEVICES

The My Cloud Devices section of the EZCloud management page lists all added devices to the registered account. The devices can be navigated using a simple interface utilizing arrows to browse through the results (see toolbar at the bottom of each section).

As with the following sections, there are multiple columns that denote information that pertains to the recorder(s) registered to the account.

.

• Device Name – the name given to the device when it was first registered.

• Device Type – the model # of the registered device

• Device IP – the external IP address of the registered device

• Latest Online Time – the time the device was last detected to be online

• Status – indicates whether the device is Online, Offline or having a network error

• Share Device – a link that provides a menu to share the registered device:

NOTE: The ‘Share To’ input box receives the email or username of the account being shared to. A date and time can be set indicating how long the device will be shared. A specific user group can be selected defining the rights given to the shared device. Finally, a description can be entered to let the user know details that represent the device.

• Change Name – a link that allows the user to change the name of the device

• Retrieve Password – allows the user to generate an overriding password in the case of a forgotten password:

NOTE: All information will be entered automatically into the above form as it pulls it from the registered device. By clicking the Acquire button, the form will send an email with the verification code. Enter the verification code into the input box and click Retrieve to receive a password. The generated password will only work for the valid date and only if the device is properly set to the valid date. If the date is set incorrectly on the device, adjust accordingly on the Retrieve Password web page.

SHARED CLOUD DEVICES

The Shared Cloud Devices section displays a list of devices that were shared to the registered account. The columns of information in this section are very similar to My Cloud Devices, however there are some unique information displayed for shared devices.

All other columns such as Status, Change Name, Access Device and so forth, function exactly the same as in the My Cloud Devices section.

SHARING RECORDS

The Sharing Records section displays a list of devices that have been shared by the registered account. As with the previous sections, there are some columns of note.

EZVIEW

.

EZView is Uniview’s smart phone application for monitoring, configuring and managing multiple camera systems. Typically, a device will be added to an EZCloud account using the EZView app due to the ability to forgo using a computer for set up.

.

REGISTER (EZVIEW)

On the main screen, there is an icon in the upper left-hand corner that appears to be like three lines stacked. This is the main menu button. Click the main menu button and then click the P2P Account link at the top of the menu. This will bring up a Login screen that also has a few notable links. The first is the Sign-Up link that will allow for a new account to be registered through the app (similar to the web portal method detailed earlier in this guide). The second link, Forgot Password, gives a similar menu to allow for an email verification and password change.

Once logged in to the registered EZCloud account, the P2P Account menu will appear (referenced above). On the P2P Account menu there are a few minor options which include the ability to change the account’s username and password. The My Sharing Records menu lists all instances of when devices have been shared from the current account and sharing can be canceled on any of these instances.

My Devices links to the Devices menu which displays all devices added to EZView (includes MyCloud Devices). See the third image above; there are different icons that indicate what kind of device is being listed. The light blue recorder with a cloud symbol indicates a device added via EZCloud and the teal recorder with the share icon indicates devices that have been shared via EZCloud.

ADD A DEVICE (EZVIEW)

To add a new device to EZCloud, click the small + icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Devices menu. Below is an image of the Add Device menu.

The Add Device menu contains the following options:

The Save button in the upper right (looks like a floppy disk) will add the device to the logged in registered account. The Start Live Preview button will not only add the device, but it will also launch all cameras in Live View.

NOTE: A registered EZCloud account must be logged in before adding a new device via P2P.

EZSTATION

.

EZStation is Uniview’s CMS software that allows for monitoring, configuring and managing multiple camera systems on a Windows PC. NOTE: Currently (as of December 2015) there is no CMS software developed for Apple Mac computers.

.

REGISTER (EZSTATION)

Registration of a new EZCloud account is straight forward; on the Home Screen (shown above) click the Device Management tile and then click the Cloud Device on the left toolbar under the Device tab. By clicking the Register button, the EZStation software will launch an Internet Explorer browser window to register an account online. The process of registering on the EZCloud web portal is located in the EZCloud Registration section of this guide.

Once registered (or if already registered) click the Login button to enter in the login credentials for the EZCloud account of choice. Other options include Auto Login, applying for an account from the login menu and account password recovery.

.

DEVICE MANAGEMENT (EZSTATION)

.

There are two main sections of interest here: the My Cloud Device list and the Shared Cloud Device list. Above those two lists are a header with the currently logged in EZCloud account, a Refresh link to refresh the current lists, a Switch Account link which launches a new login menu for account switching and a Logout link.

MY CLOUD DEVICE (EZSTATION)

The My Cloud Device list is dedicated to managing devices that have been added to the registered EZCloud account. The toolbar has the following features:

SHARED CLOUD DEVICE (EZSTATION)

The Shared Cloud Device list displays the devices that have been shared to the currently logged in account. If the integrator opts to share cloud devices with the end user, then the end user will be utilizing this list to see the status and have access to those devices. The toolbar has the following features:

Viewing and configuring the cloud devices listed in the Cloud Device menu is the same as any of the other device types on the Device Management page. Please see Uniview’s help file by clicking the User Manual button the topmost toolbar in the upper right of the EZStation software, to learn about how to group devices to prepare them for live viewing.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Cloud Update (firmware) will not function unless the device is registered to an EZCloud account.

.

EZView has a speed test function that allows the user to find the upload speed for a device registered to the currently logged in EZCloud account.

.

A device can only be registered to one EZCloud account. All other accounts need the device to be shared to them by the EZCloud account that the device was originally registered to unless the device is deleted from the original account’s device list.

.

EZCloud may be referred to as MyCloud on older firmware versions.

.

P2P refers to Peer-To-Peer. A “Cloud” device refers to, in the case of EZCloud, a device that has been registered to EZCloud for remote connection (not a remote storage medium). The way P2P works is that the device connects to the EZCloud server and then to the end user. The EZCloud acts as a go between, rather than having to open up ports (pinholes, virtual servers, etc.) to allow remote access to offsite clients. This is the preferred method of remote connection since open ports can pose a security risk and can be difficult to setup on complex networks (especially when a firewall is implemented).

Also, many satellite internet service providers and mobile hotspots will not allow ports to be opened unless a static IP is purchased (usually at a premium).

How To View A Uniview NVR Via EZView App

This guide will show how to view a Uniview NVR on the mobile app EZView.
You will need a network connection for this setup.

Step 1. Connect The NVR To Your Network

First, you will need to connect the NVR to your network. Taking a cat5e/cat6 cable from the LAN port on the NVR, then the other end will go to your router or network switch.

Step 2. Log Into The NVR and Enable EZCloud

We will be going through this process via the web interface on internet explorer from a local PC.
From the Live View of the NVR, Go to Setup -> Network -> EZCloud
Make sure It is set to ON and “Add without Signup” is ON, unless if you would like to have added security, switch it to OFF.

Step 4. Add the NVR

First, open the app, then click the 3 Horizontal Line icon in the top left corner

EZCloud Displaying Offline

When setting up Remote Viewing, You may get a Success Message after scanning the QR code. However, the NVR can show as Offline on the EZView App afterwards.

On the NVR web Interface, you may get this Message:

**Network disconnected. Please check network settings such as DNS server address and port mapping. **

Here are a few tips to fix this issue:

– Make sure that the recorder is networked locally correctly.
– Wired Directly from the LAN port of the NVR to your router or network switch.

– Place the recorder on DHCP

– After Enabling DHCP, click on Save.

How To View Remotely Through Cloud Via EZStation

EZStation is a CMS for Uniview products to allow the user to allow  viewing and configuring.

Please Note

You must have a cloud account created and your device added beforehand

Step 1. Install and Run EZStation

Download the EZStation Program here

Upon initial bootup, you may get prompted to create a login. This is for the EZStation Program exclusively. Typically we’ll recommend setting the same login as your NVR.

Once Running, You should get a Main Screen:

Step 2. Log Into Your Cloud Account

First, Go into the Device Management section.

Next, Select Cloud Device on the left side, then Login.

A popup box will appear to input your cloud login info. Once entered, Click Login

A Load screen will appear, then you should be logged in.
Now your linked devices will be listed under My Cloud Device

Step 3. Viewing Your Device

Now that we are logged in, we should be able to view whatever devices are on the linked account

First, go back to the Control Panel Tab, Then select the Live View Section

From here, Double click on your device on the left side and any cameras linked will appear

How To Share Your Device Via EZCloud Portal

Each Uniview device is limited to only be registered one single EZcloud account at one time.

Due to this limitation, sharing the device is needed to be accomplished to allow other wanted registered users to access your Uniview device.

To do so login to your EZCloud account via the web (Click Here) and select the “Share” option under the My Cloud Devices -> Operation section.

Once you select share it will prompt you to a new page where you will need to fill in the below three pictured fields. Once all fields are filled in select Confirm.

How To Share Your Device Via EZView Mobile App

Each Uniview device is limited to only be registered one single EZcloud account at one time.

Due to this limitation, sharing the device is needed to be accomplished to allow other wanted registered users to access your Uniview device.

How To Enable App Alerts Via EZView

App alerts are great if you would like to be notified when an event gets triggered.

• Others – Can include Device Exceptions events such as HDD error, IP Conflict, Bandwidth Errors, etc.

How To Unbind From Cloud Account

Occasionally, you may come across the need to unbind your Uniview NVR from its current cloud account. Either a new user is taking over an existing system or the cloud account is no longer accessible are some example use cases.

HDMI UI

From the Live View of the HDMI interface of the Uniview NVR, click on the Home Icon in the bottom left-hand corner to access the menu of the NVR.

Once the Main Menu is opened up, go to Network -> Basic -> EZCloud.

From the EZCloud Menu, Click on the Delete icon to unbind from its current cloud account.

Web UI

From the Live View of the Web Interface of the Uniview NVR, go to Setup -> Network -> EZCloud -> Delete

Search Devices

The software automatically searches for devices on the LAN where the PC resides and lists the discovered. To search a specified network, follow the steps as shown below:

Log in to Devices

You need to log in to a device before you can manage, configure, upgrade, maintain or restart a device. Choose the following methods to log in to your device:

• Log in to device in the list: Select the device(s) in the list and then click the Login button on the top.

Configure channel settings including image, encoding, OSD, audio and motion detection. The parameters displayed may vary with device model.

1. Click Channel Cfg. on the main menu.
2. Click in the Operation column.

NOTE!

You may select multiple IPCs of the same model and then click Channel Config on the top toolbar. NVR cannot be configured in batches.

3. Configure image, encoding, OSD, audio and motion detection as needed.

• Configure image settings, including image enhancement, scenes, exposure, smart illumination, and white balance.

NOTE!

• A double-click on the image will display it in full screen; another double-click will restore the image.
• Clicking Restore Default will restore all the default image settings. After restoration, click Get Parameters to obtain the default settings.
• To enable multiple scene schedules, select Multiple Scenes from the Mode drop-down list, select scenes and set the corresponding schedules, illumination ranges, and elevation ranges. Select the check box for the scenes that you have set, and then select the Enable Scene Schedule check box at the bottom to make the schedules effective. When conditions are met for a scene, the camera will switch to this scene; otherwise, the camera uses the default scene (shows ® in the Operation

column). You can click ™ to specify the default scene.

• You may copy image, encoding, OSD and motion detection configurations of an NVR channel and apply them to other channel(s) of the same NVR. See Copy NVR Channel Configurations for details.

Motion detection detects object motion in the detection area during the set period. The motion detection settings may vary with device. The following takes NVR channel as an example:

View Device Info

View device information, including device name, model, IP, port, serial number, version info, etc.

1. Click Device Cfg. or Channel Cfg. or Maintenance on the main menu.
2. Click “inthe Operation column.

Device info is also displayed for devices not logged in, but subnet mask and gateway will not be displayed.

Export Device Info

Export information including name, IP, model, version, MAC address and serial number of device(s) to a CSV file.

1. Click Device Cfg. or Channel Cfg. on the main menu.
2. Select the device(s) in the list, and then click the Export button in the upper right corner.

Export Diagnosis Info

Diagnosis information includes logs and system configurations. You can export diagnosis info of device(s) to PC.

1. Click Maintenance on the main menu.
2. Click in the Operation column.
3. Select the destination folder, and then click Export.

Configuration Import/Export

Configuration import allows you to import a configuration file from your computer to a device and change the current settings of the device.

Configuration export allows you to export current configurations of the device and save them as a file for backup.

1. Click Maintenance on the main menu.
2. Choose the following methods as needed:

• For a single device: Click ^in the Operation column.
• For multiple devices: Select the devices, and then click Maintenance on the top toolbar.

Restore Default Settings

Restoring default settings includes restore defaults and restore factory defaults.

Restore defaults: Restore factory default settings except network, user and time settings.

Restore factory defaults: Restore all factory default settings.

• For an IPC, the upgrade package (ZIP file) must contain the complete upgrade files.

Upgrade a device using a local upgrade version file

1. Click Upgrade on the main menu.

Select Devices

Select a device by selecting the check box in the first column of the list.

To select multiple devices:

• Select devices one by one.
• Click All to select all.
• Click to select devices while holding down <Ctrl>.

Filter Device List

Filter the list by entering a keyword contained in the IP, model, version, and name of the desired devices.

Copy NVR Channel Configurations

You can copy image, encoding, OSD and motion detection configurations of an NVR channel to other channels of the NVR.

NOTE!

This feature only supports NVR channels that are connected via Uniview private protocol.

• Image parameters: Include settings of image enhancement, exposure, smart illumination and white balance.
• Encoding parameters: Depending on the stream type that the device supports, you can choose to copy encoding parameters of the main and/or sub streams.
• OSD parameters: OSD style.
• Motion detection parameters: Detection area, arming schedule.

The following describes how to copy encoding configurations. Copying image, OSD and motion detection configurations are similar.

First, complete the configuration of the channel to copy from (e.g., Channel 001) and save the settings. And then follow the steps as illustrated:

Export and Import OSD Configurations of an IPC

You can export OSD configurations of an IPC to a CSV file for backup, and apply the same configurations to other IPCs by importing the CSV file. The OSD configurations include effect, font size, font color, minimum margin, date & time format, OSD area settings, types and OSD contents.

NOTE!

When importing a CSV file, make sure the IP addresses and serial numbers in the file match that of the target IPCs; otherwise, import will fail.

However, the “No Mouse on Screen” issue can only be fixed from the recorder itself, so this cannot be fixed from the web.

Scrolling Lines

Dark scrolling lines typically appear on cameras that are in the same room as fluorescent lights. In many places, lights flicker at 50Hz. However, in America, typically lights flicker at 60Hz.

Navigate to your NVR’s web GUI and sign in. At the top of the screen, click “Setup”.

In the Setup menu, click “Camera” on the left-hand side.

Click “Image” in the Camera submenu.

On the top of the Image screen, choose the camera that’s being affected in the “Select Camera” row.

To the right of the camera’s image, you will see an option for “Exposure” with a downward facing arrow. Click the word “Exposure” to open the Exposure menu.

Change the Exposure Mode to “Indoor 60Hz”. You do not have to click Save or Apply, the change will take place automatically and you should see the scrolling lines disappear on the camera’s image.

Laggy Cameras/Over Encoding

If your cameras lag on the web, EZStation or EZView, this typically means their encoding settings are set too high. This is dependent upon the network that the camera system is connected to. Typically, with high download and upload speeds, cameras can have a higher encoding rate set, while lower tier networks need to have lower encoding. To fix this:

Navigate to your NVR’s web GUI and sign in. At the top of the screen, click “Setup”.

In the Setup menu, click “Camera” on the left-hand side.

In the Camera menu, click “Encoding” to open the Encoding menu.

In the Encoding menu, you will see many options to customize the encoding settings of your cameras. Typically, only three options need to be adjusted in order to fix camera lag. Below is the ‘Ideal’ setting as well as a brief explanation of the setting

1. Video Compression
   1. Video Compression controls how the video is compressed into the HDD and over the network. H.265 is far more efficient at video compression.
   2. Ideal:
      1. H.265 FOR ALL STREAM TYPES
2. Bit Rate (Kbps) (MOST IMPORTANT)
   1. Bit rate determines the size of each “packet” of data sent from the camera to the NVR and from the NVR to the network. The higher the bit rate, the larger the packet size. This means a high bit rate pushes more data than a lower bit rate, which could cause network lag.
   2. Ideal:
      1. 2048 FOR MAIN STREAM
      2. 512 FOR SUB STREAM
      3. 128 FOR THIRD STREAM
3. U-Code
   1. U-Code is UNV’s proprietary video codec. Turning U-Code on adjusts the way your camera processes video, allowing for up to 70% more HDD space when turned to Advanced mode. It is highly recommended this be turned on at initialization.
   2. Ideal
      1. U-CODE ADVANCED MODE FOR ALL STREAMS

Once you are satisfied with the changes you have made click the “Copy” option under the encoding options. This will show Copy Parameters as well as your camera list. To copy your new settings to all cameras (highly recommended), select “All” under the Parameter tab and “All” under the Camera tab. Once you have done so, click “Save.”

No Mouse on Screen

If you have no mouse on the screen hooked directly into the NVR, simply click and hold the right mouse button for 30 seconds and then release. This will trigger your NVR to ‘jump’ to the screen you are currently on, allowing mouse control on your monitor

Resolution Incompatibility (NVR)

If the monitor plugged directly into your NVR is a lower resolution that the NVR is currently set to, there are two options you can try to fix this.

1. First, click and hold the middle mouse button on the mouse hooked directly into your NVR. This will reset the resolution and may fix the issue quickly.
2. If the middle mouse button trick does not work, navigate to your NVR’s web GUI. Select the “Setup” Menu.
   1. In the Setup menu, select the System menu on the left-hand side.
   2. Select the “Preview” option in the System submenu.
   3. Navigate to the “Resolution” row in the Preview Menu. Set this to match the resolution of your monitor. If you are unsure of the resolution of your monitor, google search your monitor’s model number and you will find the resolution. Typically, most monitors are 1920x1080p, so that is typically a safe option to try.

Keep in mind that changing the resolution will cause the NVR to reboot. This is normal.

Grey Screen on Camera Image

If your camera image is a grey screen, this typically means the resolution of the camera is too high for the max resolution of the NVR, or you have too many high-resolution cameras in Main Stream at the same time. To fix this:

1. (TRY THIS FIRST) Sub Stream First Preview (NVR Direct Only):
   1. On the monitor hooked directly into your NVR, open the main menu
   2. On the left-hand side, click “System”.
   3. In the System menu, click “Preview”.
   4. At the top of the Preview screen, click the “Advanced” tab.
   5. You will see an option for “Sub Stream First”. Make sure that this is turned ON. To do so, click the checkbox next to “Sub Stream First” and click “Apply” on the bottom left of the screen

1. Camera Resolution:
   1. Navigate to the Setup Menu of the NVR and click the “Camera” menu on the left-hand side.
   2. Click the “Encoding” sub menu.
   3. At the top of the Encoding menu, you will see an option for “Capture Mode”.
   4. Lower the capture rate incrementally until all your cameras appear on your screen.

Cameras Not Streaming on EZView

Typically, scanning and adding your cameras to EZView is very straightforward. However, from time to time the Streaming Media Protocol is not suited to certain networks and may cause the cameras to load to 95% and then fail, or not load at all. To fix this:

1. Open the EZView App
2. On the top left side, click on the three horizontal lines to open the app’s main menu
3. Click on “Devices” in the menu.
4. Click the NVR’s name to open the NVR menu.
5. Click “Edit”.
6. You will see an option that says, “Streaming Media Protocol”. Typically, this will be set to “Default (Protocol 3)”. Tap this option and choose “Protocol 2”.
   1. If the NVR is already set to Protocol 2, tap the option and choose “Protocol 3”.
7. Click the Save icon on the top right of your screen.
8. Open Live View for the cameras to verify the fix worked.

Clipping playback allows you to save clips from your UNV system on a computer. This tutorial will guide you step-by-step through the process of accessing the playback menu and viewing footage on your UNV NVR.

Step 1

Starting from the Live View screen, open up the Playback menu by following the below steps:

Right Click Anywhere on Live View > Click “Playback” on the pop-up menu

Please Note: You may be asked to sign in. If this is the case, please sign into the ‘admin’ account using your admin password or unlock pattern.

Part One: Viewing Playback

Step 2

You will be brought to the Playback Menu of your NVR.

Step 3

Select the camera that you want to view playback from by selecting the camera in the “Camera Name” menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

Step 4

After selecting the camera, you will now need to select the date you want to view. To do so, click on the date in the calendar at the bottom left of your screen.

Please Note: Dates with a colored triangle are days that you have recording available. If you do not have a colored triangle next to the date, you do not have recording on that date.

• Blue Triangle: A blue triangle next to your date means that the recorder is set to record 24/7 continuously for this camera, but the camera did not catch any motion during the entire day. It could also mean that the camera is not set up to record motion.
  • It is important to note that even if your camera is set up to record 24/7 continuously, if there was motion on that date and your camera caught it, the triangle will be red.
• Red Triangle: This means recording is present and motion occurred in view of the camera during the day of recording.
  • It is important to note that even if your camera is set up to record 24/7 continuously, if there was motion on that date and your camera caught it, the triangle will be red.

Step 5

After selecting the date, video should start playing in the playback window.

Please Note: If you want to make the image larger, double left click on the window where the playback is playing.

Step 6

Under the playback window, you will see a timeline going from 00:00 (12:00am) to 24:00 (11:59:59pm). This is where you can select the time you want to view your playback.

• For example, if the incident you’re viewing playback on is at 3:30pm, you will click the bar on 1530 to view playback at that time.

Please Note: Your timeline bar may vary in color. This is what it means:

• All Blue: An all blue bar means your cameras are set to record 24/7 continuously, and are either not seeing motion at all or are not set to record on motion.
• Fragmented Red Only: A fragmented red bar means your cameras are set to record on motion only. The areas that are not colored on the bar are times where there was no motion in view of the camera, so nothing was recorded.
• Blue with Fragmented Red: A blue and red bar means your cameras are set to record 24/7 continuously and are also set to record motion. This means the blue bar is where no motion took place and the red hashes are when motion occurred.

Part Two: Locking Clips on your UNV NVR

Step 1

After finding the incident you wish to lock, open the playback window to full screen by double left clicking on the image. You will now see a blue bar at the bottom of your playback window.

Step 2

Once you have found the clip you want, go to the very start of the clip and click on the icon that looks like a padlock. This is your Lock button.

Step 3

The File Management window should pop up. If it doesn’t automatically appear, click on the icon that looks like a file folder on the bottom left-hand side of your screen.

Step 4

Once the File Management screen opens, you will see clips with time frames. The first clip should start at the time in which you clicked the Lock button. Under the status tab, you will see icons that look like either closed padlocks or open padlocks. This designates which clips are locked and which are not. Keep a close eye on the timestamps next to each clip to make sure you lock the full time in which the incident took place.

Please Note: The locking feature for your UNV NVR locks clips in increments of 254.4M in size. It is unable to lock single clips larger than this. If your incident is larger than that file size, make sure you lock the subsequent clip to make sure you save all the footage.

• For example: Your clip is from 12:00am to 1:00am. However, the first clip is from 12:00am to 12:30am and the second clip is from 12:30am to 1:00am. You need to lock BOTH clips in order to save all of the footage.

Saving and Exporting a Video Clip on your UNV NVR

Prerequisite: If you have not done so already, please plug a USB flash drive into your UNV NVR. You can use either the front or back USB ports. Your NVR should automatically recognize the USB flash drive and may open a pop-up File Management window. You can safely close this and continue on with the tutorial.

Step 1

After finding the beginning of the incident you wish to export, pause your playback by clicking the Pause button on the bottom of your screen.

Step 2

On the left-hand side of the bar, click the icon that looks like a pair of scissors. This is your Start/Stop Clip icon. This will define the start time for the clip.

Step 3

You do not have to watch through the entire clip to save it. Instead, click the end time on the time bar. Once you have found the end of the clip, click the Start/Stop Clip icon again. This will define the end time for the clip. If you have done this correctly, the time bar should turn a lighter shade of blue within the start and end times.

Step 4

Click the icon that looks like a folder. This is your File Management button and can be found on the bottom left-hand side of the screen directly to the right of the Start/Stop Clip icon.

Step 5

The File Management screen will open. You will see your clip in the menu.

1. On the left-hand side of your clip, you will see a checkbox. Make sure that you click this checkbox on.
2. On the bottom right-hand side of the menu, you will see a button that says “Backup”. Click this button to be taken to the next screen.

Please Note: If you are recording motion only, you may have multiple clips available to download. This is because:

• Motion Only: You are recording on motion only and each instance of motion is its own clip.
• File Size: You are clipping video that exceeds 254.4MB in size, so the NVR must separate the clips into multiple sections.
• Motion and Continuous: You are recording 24/7 continuously AND motion. This will give you a larger clip of the continuous recording as well as individual clips for each motion event.

There is nothing that can be done to change these limitations, however once clips are downloaded, you can use software to stitch them together if need be.

Step 6

On the Backup menu, you will be allowed to select your USB flash drive. Typically, the NVR automatically detects and selects your flash drive. To verify this, look in the “Partition” Field at the top of your screen.

If your flash drive is completely empty, the box in the middle of the screen may be empty as well. However, if the USB has files already on it, you will see them in the middle box. This can be safely ignored.

On the bottom of the USB file box, you will see two fields: “Free” and “Total”. This is the free space and total space on your USB flash drive. There must be enough space for the clip(s) on your USB flash drive in order to back up your clip.

When you are ready to backup your clip, click the button on the bottom right that says “Backup”.

Step 7

An Export bar will automatically pop up on your screen. The gauge will fill as your files transfer to your USB flash drive. Once this reaches 100%, a box will pop up confirming that your backup was successful.

After receiving the system message stating that your backup is complete, you may unplug the USB Flash Drive from your NVR. Your clip is now saved to that flash drive and can be put onto a computer and viewed.

To view the software, we typically recommend one of two softwares:

EZPlayer: This is UNV’s proprietary software. It can be used to watch multiple clips at once and stitch clips together. CLICK HERE to be taken to the EZPlayer download page.

Viewing Playback and Clipping from the EZView Mobile App

Overview

Viewing playback and clipping footage from your phone is useful for quick incidents. This tutorial will guide you through the process of viewing and clipping playback from your phone.

Prerequisites

This tutorial assumes you have already installed EZView and added your NVR to your phone. If you have not done so, CLICK HERE to view our tutorial on installing and adding a device to EZView.

Step 1

Open EZView. On the top left-hand side of the screen, click the three horizontal lines to open the main menu of the EZView application. Once the menu is open, click “Devices”.

Step 2

Select the device you wish to see by tapping on its name. This will open the device’s menu. Once this is open, click “Start Live View”.

Step 3

Once on the Live View screen, you should see all your cameras. Tap the camera you wish to do playback with and click “Playback” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4

Your camera will begin playing back. Navigate to the time you wish to see by dragging your finger left or right along the playback bar. Once you have found the footage you wish to playback, continue to Step 5.

Step 5

You should see an icon that looks like a video camera with the word “Record” under it. Click there to start the clip. You will see a banner that says “Start Recording” on your time bar.

Step 6

You may either drag the time bar to the end of the clip or watch through the clip until the end. Once you are satisfied with your clip, tap the Record icon again.

PLEASE NOTE: If you manually drag the bar to the end of the clip, the record icon will automatically turn off without the need to click it again.

Once you have completed your clip, click on the horizontal lines on the top left-hand side and select “Picture & Video”.

Step 7

On the Picture & Video screen, you will see your clip. Tap the clip to view it. You may also export the clip by clicking on the icon on the top right-hand side of the screen, tapping the clip (You will see a blue checkmark appear on the clip itself) and selecting the “Export Clip” button.

1.Plug a power adapter into the DVR and the socket to power on the DVR.

2. Connect a monitor to the HD Output or VGA Output on the DVR with an HDMI cable or VGA cable (not included).

3. Connect the Ethernet Cable with the DVR and your router.

4. Connect the AHD camera with the BNC Cable.

5. Connect the Yellow Video Connector to the BNC Video Input on the DVR, and connect the Red Power Connector to the Male Connector of the Power Cable Splitter.

6. Connect the Female Connector of the Power Cable Splitter with another power adapter. Then plug the power adapter into the socket to power on the camera.

Operate dvr system with a monitor

Startup Wizard

After connecting the DVR and cameras to power, wait for 2-3 minutes. A Startup Wizard will start to guide you via a series of pop-up windows.

Connect the USB mouse to the DVR, then click Next until you see the window of Time-Language Configuration.

1.Select the time zone, date format, time format, language, and set the time for your DVR system.

2. The default password is empty, please reset it for your DVR following the tip.
The new password should be more than 6 digits and use the combination of numbers and letters to ensure your system’s security.

3. Select safety questions and enter the answers for resetting the password if necessary.
You can also enter your email address for getting the verification code to reset the password.

4. Check if the network connection status is normal. If not, you can configure it by clicking Network.

5. Scan the QR code to get the Serial Number of your DVR system and download the App named XMEye into your mobile device.

6. Before fixing the cameras, you can log in to XMEye App to check the live view to confirm the ideal position.

7. Detection based on human shape is enabled by default.
The DVR system will send alerts to your mobile device when there is human shape detected by the cameras.
Please refer to the section of Motion Detect the detailed setting.

IMPORTANTClick Next and OK to exit the wizard. You can right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu > Startup Wizard to bring it up again.
If the wizard is no longer needed, just check the box before Don’t Display the Wizard again on the first interface of the Startup Wizard.×Dismiss this alert.

Live Video

You will see the live videos from the AHD cameras in split-screen mode (9 screens by default) after exiting the wizard.

※ Move the mouse cursor to the live video of any channel, some icons may be displayed according to the setting.

Notes:

1. The icons of and are displayed by default, while for icon , and , please right click andgo to Main Menu > Alarm (see on page 15) to enable them.

2. If you want to loop to display the live videos from some certain channels in full-screen mode, please go to Main Menu > System > Tour to enable this function.

3. For viewing the live video from one channel in full-screen mode, please move the mouse cursor to the desired channel, then double click. To exit full-screen mode, double click again.

Hard Drive Formatting

When you receive the system, the system has a pre installed hard disk, which does not need to be formatted,but if you have to replace another hard disk, it needs to be formatted at first ,then it can be used normally Install the Hard Drive first, then right click and go to Main Menu >Advanced > Storage to check if the type is Read/Write or the status is Normal.

If not, please click Format Storage to start formatting your Hard Disk Drive.

Video Recording

Right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu > Record > Record Conf. to set the record mode and record plan.
This DVR is set to record videos 24 hours a day by default.

Channel:

Select the channel to set the record mode and plan. You can select a single channel or all channels.

Redundancy:

Installing 2 pieces of Hard Disk Drive is required when enabling this function, and HM245 doesn’t support it.

Length:

Set the maximum video length of each recording from 1 minute to 120 minutes. It’s 60 minutes by default.

PreRec:

The camera will start recording a video around 5s before it detects the motion or human shape.

You can reset the time from 1s to 30s, but the accuracy of the pre-recording time may be affected by the bitrate.

Mode:

Set the recording mode and the options are Schedule, Manual and Stop.

• Schedule: The camera will record videos according to your record plan.
• Manual: The camera will record standard videos 24 hours a day.
• Stop: The camera will stop recording videos.

 

Record Plan:

Set the recording schedules.

• Week and Period 1/2/3/4: Set the time period(s) of each day to record different types of videos.
• Regular: The system will continuously record standard videos during the time period(s) you set.
• Detect: The camera will start recording a video when it detects motion or human shape during the time period(s) you set. If you enable the alarms of Video Blind, Video Loss, and Face Detection, the camera will record the video as well.
• Alarm: An extra alarm device is required for this type of video, and HM245 doesn’t support it.

Notes:

The oldest video will be overwritten by the latest one by default when the Hard Disk Drive runs out

of space.

Video Playback

Right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu > Record > Playback to play the video recorded.

You will see the different playback modes in the pop-up window of Play Mode.

Explanation of playback modes

1.Common Playback

Select the channel(up to 4 channels at the same time), a period and a date on Blue background to

play all types of videos recorded.

Option 1 :

Left click on the Green/Red (Green for standard videos recorded, and Red for the videos recorded whenthe camera detected motion or human shape) part of the timeline of each channel to play the historical videos.

Option 2 :

Left click on the live video of one channel, show the filtered video list, then double click on the selected video to play it.

Description of Playback Buttons

Left click on the live video of any channel, then start using the buttons to control the video playback.

Tips:

① You can click the icon to cut a video, then click to back up to the external storage.

② Previous Frame and Next Frame work only when pausing the video.

③ The speed of Fast Reverse and Fast Forward will be displayed on the right end of Playback Buttons.

2. Sync Playback

This function aims to put the videos from different channels at the same time to compare.

Select 2 channels at least ( up to 4 channels), a period and a date on Blue background to play the historical videos simultaneously at the selected time on the same timeline.

3. Dayparting

This function aims to put the videos from the same channel but at different time to compare.

Select a channel, number of split screens, and a period to play the videos recorded from this channel on different timelines.

NotesYou need to press and hold the left mouse and move on the bar of Period to select time period.×Dismiss this alert.

4. Smart Express

Select one channel or all channels, then select the speed of Fast Playback, the system will play all the videos recorded with the speed you selected.

5. Smart Search

Select one channel and a time period, then check the box before Detect and select a date on Blue background to play the videos recorded when the camera detected the motion or human shape.

※Double click the thumbnail to play the related videos.

6. Face Search

Select one channel, a time period and a date on Blue background to play the videos recorded when the camera detected faces.

Video Backup

Step 1:

Insert the USB disk into the USB port of the DVR system. Right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu >Record > Backup to start.

Step 2:

Select your USB disk, then click Backup to bring up a pop-up window.

Step 3:

Select Channel, Start Time and End Time, then click Add to display all the filtered videos.

Step 4:

Check the box to select the video files and Backup format, then click Start to back up the videos.

Tips:

① The format of the USB Drive should be FAT 32.

② An alternative solution to back up the videos is listed below.

• Go to the interface of video playback and click to show the filtered video list.
• Check the box to select the videos.
• Click to start backing up. The next steps are the same as the first solution mentioned above.

Snapshot Setup

The system will capture the snapshots 24 hours a day when the camera detects motion or human shape.

Go to Main Menu > system> SnapShot Conf. to reset the time interval of capturing a snapshot, and set up the schedules when the camera will capture a snapshot as well.

Alarm

IMPORTANT:

The alarms of Motion Detect and Human Detect are enabled by default. If you need to record videos whenthe camera detects the face or gets blocked as well, please enable Face Detection and Video Blind.

Please go to Main Menu > Alarm to set the alarm you need.

Motion Detect

The camera will start to record videos when it detects motion.

Channel:

Select the channel you’d like to enable motion detection.

Enable:

Check the box to enable motion detection.

Sensitivity:

If you select higher sensitivity, the camera will be more easily to be triggered to start recording videos. It’s advised to select Middle to balance the accuracy and effectiveness of the alarm, thus reducing the false alarms.

Region:

Click Set, then press and hold the left mouse to drag and select the area for detecting. The pink area indicates the selected area.

Period:

Set up to 4 time periods for each day to send the alerts when the camera detects motion.

MD Interval:

Set the time interval of two alerts. It aims to decrease the frequency of the alerts caused by the same moving object.

Record Channel:

The selected channel(s) will start recording when the current channel detects motion.

Tour:

The display will loop to display the live video from the selected channel(s) in full-screen mode when the current channel detects motion. You can go to Main Menu > System > Tour to set the time interval to show the live video in full-screen mode.

Snapshot:

The selected channel(s) will capture a picture when the current channel detects motion.

PTZ Activation:

The cameras don’t support this function.

PostRec:

The camera will remain to record the video around 10s after the motion or human shape detection ends. You can reset the time from 10s to 300s.

Show Message:

After enabling this function, the display will pop up a window to show the Alarm Status for all kinds of alarms when the cameras detect motion, human shape, or more.

Send Email:

Before enabling this function, please go to Main Menu > System > NetService, then double click on EMAIL option to set up your email address to receive the alerts.

Write Log:

The logs of the alerts will be written into the system once you enable this function. You can go to Main Menu > Info > Log to check the detailed log information.

FTP upload:

The system will send the videos recorded or snapshots captured to the FTP server you set when the camera detects motion. Please go to Main Menu > System > NetService, then double click on FTP option to set up your FTP server.

Mobile reported:

The system will send alerts to your mobile device when the camera detects motion. Please install the App and add the DVR to the App following the section of OPERATE DVR SYSTEM ON MOBILE DEVICE on page 18.

Up-to-Coaxial Control

Right click on the main menu and select XVI control to start setting up your camera.

※If the live video from the camera is mirrored or flipped, you can check the box before Mirroring or Overturn to fix it.

※If you set something wrong, please click Restore to get back to default settings.

Installation

Once EZStation has been downloaded from the sources above, you will need to extract the installer from its archive. You can do this using any archive software such as WinZip, 7-Zip, and etc.

In the screenshot below, I am using an open-sourced archive software (7-Zip) to extract the downloaded EZStation archive to my desktop. It may not look exactly similar to your setup but the concept is similar.

Once the installer has been extracted, launch it by double-clicking or by clicking it and pressing Enter. Proceed with the installation as you would with other programs.

Like with any other forms of legal agreement, reading and reviewing would be a good practice.

Choose where to install the EZStation software. You can specify the directory directly, or Browse.

Continue until the software has been installed, then click Finish. A shortcut to access EZStation has been created on your desktop and Start menu.

Configuration

Once installed, launch EZStation using either the shortcut on your desktop or the one in your start menu. You will be prompted to log in, the initial (default) password is 123456. In the screenshot below, I did not check Save Password and Auto Login because the first thing I will do is change the default login details. It is strongly recommended to change the password of the super-administrator account (admin), please see User Management for more information on how to update login details.

Once logged in, you will be on the control panel. We will go over each feature from the left to the right starting from the top.

• Menu: Clicking this will display a drop-down menu you can use to navigate the program.
• Tabs: Similar to browsers, you can multi-task/switch to and close each tab from here.
• Switch User: Opens a login screen where you can log in using another user account.
• Lock: Locks the software requiring a password to unlock, useful security feature when the authorized person needs to leave his station.
• Help: Shows the help options.
• Minimize: Minimizes the window to the taskbar.
• Maximize/Window: Changes the window size.
• Exit: Exits the application.
• Common: Provide navigation to common tasks.
• Basic: Provide navigation to basic tasks.
• Latest Alarm: Clicking this will show a list of the most recent alarms.
• Alarm Live View: Clicking this will open a live view feed of currently occurring alarms.
• Recording Download: Clicking this will open a download window where you can find and download recorded footage.
• Task Management: Clicking this will open the task manager window where you can view and manage ongoing tasks.

Live View

In Live View, you will be able to monitor the live feeds of several cameras based on your preferences. In this section, we will go through each feature from left to right starting from the top of the tab.

Navigation: Control Panel > Common > Live View

• Video Channel: Allows you to select which devices to put on display on the Live View. Double click a camera to add it to the display or double click an NVR or group to add all cameras under it to the Live View.
• Context Menu: This menu is displayed whenever you right-click on a Live View stream. It contains many useful and convenient functions for various relevant operations.
• Live View: The video with the yellow border is the currently selected video stream. On its bottom-left, you will find various tools to manage and interact with its footage.
• Layout: Found on the bottom-left of the Live View, this lets you choose or customize the number of cameras on the Live View is displayed simultaneously.

Playback

Navigation: Control Panel > Common > Playback

In Playback, you will be able to search, view, and download playback footage from the devices added on the EZStation. The permission levels of each user can also be set up from here. We will go through each feature left to right starting at the top.

• Device: This tab allows you to search and filter the available playbacks on your devices.
• Local: This tab allows you to search and filter the available playbacks downloaded on the computer you are using.
• PlaybackType: Determines the type of recordings that will be searched.
  • Normal Recording Playback
  • Smart Recording Playback
  • Event Recording Playback
  • VCA Recording Playback
• List of Devices: This section lists the devices on the EZStation. You are able to select which device to search footage on.
• Search Time: Determines the time or range of the search.
• Playback: Displays the recording and allows you to take snapshots, zoom, clip, and turn on audio.
• Recordings: Displays a list of clips that matches your search. You can click the play button to skip to the matched event.
• Layout: Clicking this will open a menu of layouts to fit your preferences.
• Close All: Clicking this will close all open playbacks.
• Snapshot All: Clicking this will take a snapshot of all opened playbacks.

User Management

Navigation: Control Panel > Basic > User Management

In User Management, you will be able to create, modify, and manage user accounts that can access the EZStation. The permission levels of each user can also be set up from here. We will go through each feature left to right starting at the top.

• Add: Click to add another user and specify permissions and passwords.
• Edit: Click to edit the selected (checked) user on the User List.
• Delete: Click to remove the selected (checked) user on the User List.
• Search: Used to filter or find a particular user account. Useful for quickly managing a large number of users.
• User List: Shows all users on the EZStation.
• User Level: Determines the permissions of a user. The admin account has Superadmin permission. Changing its password from the default is paramount for security reasons.
  • Administrator: Only admin can add an administrator. Administrators have all permissions by default.
  • Operator: Admin or administrator with user management permissions can add operators. Operators have no permission by default.
• Username: Create or change a username for the user.
• Password: Create or change a password for the user.
• User Permissions: To assign permissions, specify permissions on the left. For some permissions (e.g., Live View), you need to select the device(s) on the right.

Device Management

In Device Management you will be able to search, add, and manage the devices to and in your EZStation. You will also be able to assign and manage camera groups. In this section, we will go through each feature from left to right starting from the top of the tab.

Navigation: Control Panel > Basic > Device Management

Device: The Device tab allows you to search, add, and manage the devices to and in your EZStation. You may also connect your EZCloud account to include the devices accessible through it to the EZStation.

• Device Type: Serves as a filter based on the device type. Select the type of device you want to add. EZStation will provide relevant fields and details for each type.
• Managed Devices List: Displays all devices added to the EZStation that matches the selected Device Type. Also allows you to edit, configure, access, and restart these devices.
• Add: Allows you to add
• Edit: Allows you to edit details regarding the device.
• Delete: Removes the device from EZStation.
• Time Sync: Syncs the time of the selected device with the system time where the EZStation is installed.
• Status: Shows the status of displayed devices.
• Online Devices List: Displays all online devices that can be added to the EZStation that matches the selected Device Type.
• Add: Add the selected online device to the managed device list and to the EZStation.
• Refresh: Refreshes the list of devices displayed.
• Search Config: Allows you to specify search parameters such as IP segments.

Group: The Group tab allows you to assign and manage camera groups. Cameras can be organized, imported, and managed from various sources including local networks via connected NVRs or via the EZCloud account.

• Group List: Shows a list of all groups. Also serves as a group filter.
• Import Camera: Opens a window where you can select cameras for importing.
• Edit: Edits the selected camera’s name.
• Delete: Removes the selected camera from the group.
• Configuration: Grants access to the camera’s remote configuration.

How to Add a Uniview Device to EZstation for Viewing on the Local Network (LAN) Only

1. Click Device Management

2. On the Device Management page the top section on the right labeled “Managed Device” will show devices that have been added to EZstation.  The bottom section on the right labeled “Online Device” will show all devices that are detected on your local network.

1. Select the device from the list on the bottom.

2. Click the Add button.

3. The device will now be added to the top Managed Device section.  If the default password to the device was changed previously it’s important to click the Edit button and input the password on the window that comes up, then click Okay.

4. If everything went well the Status should now say Online.

5. Click the Live View tab at the top of EZstation.  Lastly, double click on the device on the left column to start the live view.

UNV IPC || IP Configuration using EzTools 2.0 (2.2.0)

You can modify addresses in two ways using EzTools:

The “IP” button will allow you to manually program a IP address.
The “settings” button will allow you to toggle DHCP

When using the “IP” option, you must enter the New IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. Make sure to enter the correct username and password. The default is admin/123456

You will receive a confirmation that the modification was successful.

When using the “settings” method, you first be prompted to log into the device. Enter the credentials to the device and press OK.

“IP Obtain Mode” will allow to use Static, DHCP, or PPPoE addresses.
When using the “Static IP Address” option you may enter the IP address information in manually and “Save”.

You will receive a warning prompting you that changing settings may cause network disconnection – confirm your IP address information is correct before pressing “Yes”
