Introduction to CMS

1.1Function introduction

CMS is called Camera Monitor System. It is a camera monitoring client for online preview image, video storage, remote playback, device management, video/screen download and other functions. It is suitable for DVR, NVR, IPC, VR CAM, Wifi IPC and other devices.

CMS has the following characteristics:

Interface containerization processing mode: In the interface design of the client component, the containerized processing is carefully adopted, which simplifies the processing mode of multi-screen and single-screen switching, greatly improves the multi-screen operation feeling, and adapts to the development trend of a multi-screen PC.

Channelized management mode: In the client component design, channelized management mode is added, and the traditional design mode with device as the core subject is abandoned, which is more suitable for the development direction of IP monitoring.

Preview multiple video or high resolution video at the same time, requiring higher hardware configuration and network bandwidth

2. Installation login

2.1 Installation and operation

• Step 1: Run the EseeCloud_Setup_3.0.1.exe installation package
• Step 2: Select the display language when installing
• Step 3: Read and determine whether to accept the agreement
• Step 4: Determine the path to the installation
• Step 5: Installation is complete and you can choose to run immediately

2.2 User login

2.2.1 Local login

①Enter account + password ②Click to login

• Local login can be logged in using the default account admin (the initial password is blank)
• Local login mode can choose remember passwords or automatic login (automatic login is not possible when auto lock status is enabled)
• Click the string in the login forgot password to be encrypted. Different accounts correspond to different encrypted passwords
• The account number box can display three accounts that are mostly used recently.

• The current CMS version of the user name can only use “admin”, the initial password is empty. In order to prevent potential safety hazards, please be sure to modify the initial password after the initial login to prevent unauthorized access to your device or other adverse consequences.
• For better protection of your privacy and improving product security, we strongly recommend that you set up complex passwords based on the following rules: greater than 8 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, special characters, and so on. Please understand that it is your responsibility to properly configure all passwords and other related product security settings.

2.2.2 Cloud login

• User login：①Enter ‘account+password’ ②Remember password and automatic login (optional) ③Click to Login
• Register an account：①Enter ‘new account + password + email’ ② Click to register now
• Retrieve password：①Enter ‘Account+Mailbox’ ②Click to get verification code and enter ③Enter a new password ④Click to complete

Note:

①The cloud login should be logged in with the registered account (the account registered by the mobile app can be logged in)

②Registered account is recommended to use a valid mailbox, easy to retrieve passwords and other special circumstances

③After registering an account, you need to log in to the email address you entered during registration to activate the email address (click the received link to verify)

④The mailbox status is not activated, and cannot be retrieved after forgetting the password (activation period is two days)

⑤The first time you use EseeCloud_CMS, the software’s time zone will automatically sync with your computer, and you can change it later in the advanced settings.

3. Live Preview

3.1 Connection/Disconnection

• The list style is tree shape:

connection：

①Double-click on the selected device/channel to enter the connected video state.

②After selecting the device/channel, right click and select “Connect Video” to enter the connected video state (Figure 1)

disconnect：

③Double-click to disconnect the current connection after selecting the connected device/channel

④After selecting the device/channel, right click and select ‘Disconnect’ to disconnect the current connection.

• List style is graphic：

①After selecting the device/channel, click the play button on the device list to enter the connected video status.

②After selecting the device/channel, click the stop button on the device list to disconnect the current connection status.

③Right-click operation connection/disconnection is consistent with the tree list style. The specific operation can be referenced.

Note：poor performance of the computer will directly affect the smoothness of the preview video. It is recommended that the number of channels connected to the device be gradually increased

3.2 Video/screenshot

• Video：

①Click the Record button on the toolbar to enter the video recording status (as shown in Figure 1 below)

②After the video operation, click the record button again to stop recording.

Note：

①The actual recording duration is not equal to the time difference between the start recording time and the end recording time.

②If the device network is interrupted, the recording will succeed but no video file will be saved.

③The channel is maximized or minimized during recording, and the recording will stop.

Click the screenshot button on the toolbar to enter the screenshot status (as shown in Figure 1 below)

①If the switching stream video is not loaded, the screenshot operation will be saved.

②The screenshot does not have the function of continuous screenshots. Clicking the screenshot button once will capture an image.

3.3 Panorama mode

• Panorama mode：

enter：

①Double-click the channel screen to enter the maximized state, right click and select “panoramic mode” to switch to the panorama mode, enter the panorama, and the code stream is automatically switched to HD.

②The channel screen is in 1 split screen mode, and the panorama mode option is available on the right toolbar. Click to select to switch the panorama mode.

drop out：

①Click on Panorama mode on the right toolbar and select ‘Exit panorama’ to exit panorama mode

②Exit the panorama mode by exiting the screen from the split screen state.

• Installation mode：

Suspension: the direction of the cruise is clockwise

Wall-mounted: the direction of the cruise swings left and right

• Cruise mode：

Speed: Cruise provides speed 3S / speed 40S / speed 60S three options, corresponding to slow / medium / fast three speeds

Stop: Pause the current state of the cruise, left click on the channel in the cruise or select the stop cruise button in the cruise mode to click

3.4 PTZ control

• Cruise / PTZ / Zoom / Focus / Aperture / Preset：

The PTZ control function can be used only when the PTZ device (such as a ball machine) is connected to the main control device (such as NVR or DVR).

Cruise is to directly perform the screen cruise operation. The pan/tilt is to adjust the lens direction and zoom to replace the mirror multiple.

3.5 Split screen number

• The client provides 1 split screen / 4 split screen / 6 split screen / 8 split screen / 9 split screen / 16 split screen / 25 split screen / 36 split screen / 49 split screen, nine split screens can be switched at will

When the number of connected device channels is greater than the current number of split screens, the displayed split screen will automatically increase, reaching 49 split screens.

3.6 Other functions

• Sharpness switching: SD SD and HD HD toggle buttons
• sound：①Selected screen channel ②Click to turn off/on sound
• Intercom：①Click the intercom button to open the intercom ②Left-click and hold the connection to talk, click the exit button to exit the intercom
• Help: The help buttons under each interface are the corresponding function instructions.
• Recording: When the live preview channel is recording, the icon is flashing.
• shut down：①Click to exit the login button ②Click OK to log out and return to the login screen.

4.Video playback

4.1 Video playback

Playback four steps：①Select device channel ②Select video type ③Select playback date ④Confirm search video

• Retrieving the video requires three conditions of ‘device channel + recording type + playback date’.
• Video types include: motion detection, timing detection, alarm detection, and manual detection. Generally, all types of videos can be retrieved by default.
• The selection of the device channel can directly affect the retrieval result. Be sure to confirm the online status of the device before recording.

4.2 Timed playback

• Timed playback：Select the timed playback operation, enter the recording effective time point in the time frame, and confirm that it can be played immediately (effective time point refers to: the time retrieved by video playback)
• Time drag playback：Adjust the time scale and drag the cursor on the timeline to the corresponding time (as shown in Figure 2 below)

4.3 Video sync

Steps：①Retrieve video ②Check sync ③Switching time point

• Date: Check the synchronization switching time point, the channel synchronization will not take effect.
• Time: Check the synchronous switching time point. The recording time of each channel will not take effect at the same time.

4.4 Video download

• Batch download：Enter the time period to be downloaded at the start time + end time according to the needs of the retrieved recording time range.
• Time period download：The time period of the video recording will also be displayed in the download resource. Click the download button for any time period according to your needs.

4.5 Other functions

• Playback control：Support playback/pause/stop control in video playback, select the screen form in playback and click operation
• Time scale adjustment：The settings in the Setup Wizard are not set. The playback timeline scale will default to 60 minutes. You can also modify the scale value by clicking ‘Reduction’ or ‘Magnify’ during video playback.

5.Equipment management

5.1 Add device

• Add a LAN device：①Enter the device management interface ②Refresh LAN device ③Check the device and click Add (LAN device can be filtered by entering IP/ID in the filter box)
• Add cloud ID device：Manually enter the device ‘cloud ID number + channel number’, select ‘type’ according to the actual situation of the device, and the rest can click to confirm (the password can be selected according to the actual settings of the device)
• Add an IP/DDNS device：Manually enter the device ‘IP/DDNS+port+channel number’, select ‘type’ according to the actual situation of the device, and the rest can click OK.

5.2 Modify device

• Device modification：In the device management or preview interface, after selecting the device and clicking Modify, the device interface will be loaded.
• Regional modification：In the modify device interface, click the area drop-down box.
• Group modification：After selecting the group under the device management interface, click the modify button to load the modified group information interface.

note：Modify the channel name, panorama, and channel type corresponding to the channel number in the device. The panorama or channel type corresponding to each serial number is independent. The channel device in the device needs to be in the panoramic state. You can select the corresponding channel serial number to modify the panorama. And channel type

5.3 Remote setting

5.3.1 VR CAM/gateway Remote setting

Setup steps：①Selected device ②Click Settings / Connect Device and click the Remote Settings button (as shown in Figure 1)

• Device Information：Content includes device model, device ID, OEM serial number, firmware version (providing check updates)
• Function setting：The audio, prompt tone, prompt language, and display mode and resolution can be set on the configuration.
• Alarm system：The content includes motion detection, message push, motion detection sensitivity, and synchronization time function. If daylight saving time setting is available, you can set daylight saving time.
• TF card settings：TF card status, available / total capacity, TF card formatting function

note：

①Alarm message push is not supported in local login. You need to check to switch to cloud login status.

②Currently supports VR CAM/gateway devices for remote setup

5.3.2 D82 series NVR remote setting

Setup steps：①Selected device ②Click Settings / Connect Device and click the Remote Settings button

• General settings：Set the device’s time zone, date format, date, time, button sound, OSD transparency, VGA resolution
• Channel setting：
  • Coding settings：Can set the encoding mode of each channel, the resolution of the primary and secondary streams, the code stream control, the code stream rate, the video frame rate, and the encoding format.
  • Color adjustment：The tone, contrast, brightness, and saturation of each channel can be adjusted and copied to other channels.
  • Channel OSD：The title, display status, and communication quality of each channel can be modified.
  • Video detection：Each channel alarm duration, detection type, sensitivity, whether to enable various alarm information push, detection area selection, deployment time selection can be modified, and can be copied to other channels
  • Code stream value：Monitor real-time stream for each channel
  • Channel details：View the primary stream, secondary stream, and software version for each channel
• Recording settings：You can set the recording type and time of each channel. There are three types of timing, movement and alarm.
• Network settings：
  • Network settings：You can modify whether to use DHCP. If you choose No, you can modify the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS address, and WEB port of the NVR.
  • Dynamic domain name：You can modify whether to use DDNS. If yes, you can modify the provider, domain name, username, password.
  • PPPOE：Select whether to enable PPPOE. If yes, you can modify the PPPOE protocol, user name, and password. You can view the PPPOE status and PPPOE IP address.
  • wireless setting：Can view ESSID, modify Wireless Channel, area
• System settings：
  • Device Information：View device name, device model, device serial number, software version, release time, cloud ID
  • Log information：Select the input type, start time, and end time and click Search to display the log number, time, and content that meet the conditions.
  • User Management：Display serial number, user name, whether it is super user, create new user, edit user, delete user, change password
  • Factory settings：Choose simple restore (ignore channel and network configuration), restore all (restore all configurations)
  • Online upgrade：Select the local upgrade file and click on Upgrade Firmware.

5.4 Device grouping

• Create a group：①Click the ‘Create Group’ button ②‘Enter the content in the group name box and click OK.
• Add channel：

6. User parameter

6.1 Basic Settings

• Split screen number：The selected split screen number is displayed after the re-login, and the CMS provides split screen 1/4/6/8/9/16/25/36/49 nine forms of choice.
• Display language：CMS currently defaults to 9 display languages, such as Simplified Chinese and English. When you choose to log in again, you will switch to the corresponding language.
• Login Method：The cloud login mode is online. You need to connect to the external network when you log in. The local login does not have this hard requirement.
• List style：The list style includes tree shape and graphics. The replacement is only the real-time preview interface and the display of the device list under the playback interface. The device list under other interfaces is unified into the tree list style.
• Path modification：

①Screenshot path: The screenshot file is saved in the snapshot folder by default, and can be saved in other paths according to its own needs.

②Local recording path: The local recording file is saved in the record folder by default, and can be saved in other paths according to its own needs.

③Video download path: The files downloaded by the playback video are saved in the video_download folder by default, and can be saved in other paths according to their needs.

• Preview sync time：Check the time when the device is previewed and the computer will be automatically synchronized (only ipc is supported)

note：After modifying the settings, click “Finish” and you will need to log in again. (It is best not to modify it to a directory containing Chinese)

6.2 advanced settings

• Time zone setting：The local time zone can be selected according to the actual situation.
• Automatic lock：Check the auto lock and enter the integer in minutes in the time frame. If no operation is performed on the CMS within the time of the input, the CMS will automatically lock.
• Automatically connect video：After logging in to the auto-connect video, log in to the CMS and automatically connect to the device added to the device list. The number of connected channels is the number of split screens in the basic settings.

7.1 User Management

• New user：①Click New User ②Enter username (required) + note name (optional)③Click to confirm

①Clear password: If the login password of the new user is forgotten, you can log in to the newly created user again by directly clearing the password and the internal setting data can be retained.

②Modify the note: Add a note, change the note or delete the note, go to the modify note operation

③Delete user: If you feel that the newly created user is not necessary, click delete user to delete the user.

7.4 System Info

• Version Information：The content is displayed as follows ‘version number, date’
• change Password：①Enter ‘original password + new password + confirm new password’②Click to confirm ③Re-login verification password
• sign out：Click the ‘Exit Login’ button to quit the login status of the current account.

8.Frequently Asked Questions

Question one：After installation, open the CMS and display “Cannot load plugin”?

Answer one：

1.Please confirm whether the installation path uses Chinese when installing, and the plugin is temporarily not compatible with Chinese path.

2.After confirming the non-Chinese path, if the problem persists, you can contact technical support for assistance.

Question two：After connecting multiple channels of video (more than 30 channels), videos stop for a few seconds , all channels are automatically disconnected into the black screen. The device connected again has no response. Do we need to restart the CMS?

Answer two：The new version of CMS3.0.1 runs with higher memory. If you connect many channels by the lower configuration computer, the computer system will run out of memory, causing the CMS to run abnormally. If the computer configuration is slightly lower, it is recommended not to connect too many channels. The optimization work has been planned for this situation.

Question three：When CMS is installed on the OSX system, it displays “File is corrupted” or “Unable to open” when it is opened?

Answer three：

1.Open “System Settings” → “Security and Privacy” → “Allow applications to be downloaded in the following location”, check “any source” (applies to versions prior to OSX10.12.X);

2.Open “Terminal”, enter the string “sudo spctl –master-disable”, press the “Enter” key, enter the sudo password (applicable to versions after OSX10.12.X). If the above method still does not work, please contact us to help you solve it.

Question four：After starting a window and flashing, it will not start or XP will appear. Open the software to indicate 0a00000000 memory referenced by 0x00000000 instruction. The memory cannot be ‘written’.

How to do when UI is transparent?

VAST2 UI (version: 2.0.0.1650) is transparent on Windows 10 of Hyper-V VM. I can see overlap issue between UI and shortcuts on desktop.

ANSWER

Please follow below steps to solve the issue.
1. Go to “Display Setup” file location.

2. Right click “Display setup” and run as administrator.

3. You will see Display setup window and then Press A.

Finished above steps, VAST2 UI will not be transparent.

What is Virtual Matrix on VAST?

Introduction

VIVOTEK provides a professional video wall solution, Virtual Matrix, a new feature in VAST version 1.5. Since its introduction, Virtual Matrix has been upgraded to support live views of an unlimited number of channels from the previous 64 channels. In addition, live views on an unlimited number of screens for an unlimited number of cameras are available, whereas the original version supported a maximum of 2 screens.

This document provides a general introduction to VAST Virtual Matrix along with explanations of how to set it up.

What is VIVOTEK Virtual Matrix?

The Virtual Matrix feature has been added to VAST to enable a more powerful surveillance setup in the central control room through support of multiple monitors.

LiveClient and VAST server work with Virtual Matrix to display an unlimited limited number of channels on an unlimited number of screens.

We have implemented the Matrix recipient control in LiveClient, allowing the user to control and configure Virtual Matrix. The Virtual Matrix recipient will be installed on other computers with multiple screens.

When LiveClient logs into the server, the user can set up a connection to the Virtual Matrix recipient, which needs to be started up first.

Once connected, the user can display the cameras on the screens of other computers through simple point-and-click operations. There is no limit to the number of screens, recipient connections, or camera feeds that can be displayed.

Why Use Virtual Matrix?

   1. Unlimited number of channels – Virtual Matrix removes the upper limit of 64 viewable channels, allowing you to view an unlimited number.

   1. Flexible arrangement of selected camera feeds – Click the Layout button on the quick access bar. Select the desired layout mode and the arrangement of the channels will change accordingly. Eight layout modes and the corresponding number of video pages are listed below.
      
   2. Rotate camera for greater coverage The video pages will start to rotate so that the user does not have to click to move to the next page.
   3. Drag-and-drop support cell. To move a video channel to an empty video cell, simply drag the view to the desired

3. Other Benefits
   1. Each VAST Matrix supports up to 10 monitors and 320 channels.
   2. Supports Key Frame Only mode – This mode allows VAST Matrix to receive all video frames, but only decode and display the key frame.
   3. Supports virtually all VIVOTEK products VAST Matrix supports all VIVOTEK cameras, NVR, and video servers (except NR7401).
   4. Low cost – Allows monitoring of numerous cameras feeds using only a few computers.

Minimum System Requirements

Before installing the VAST Matrix, please make sure your system meets the following recommended minimum system requirements.

How to set up Virtual Matrix?

1. Activating VAST Matrix After installing the VAST Matrix program, which runs as a standalone Windows, application on the remote computer, follow the steps below to activate it:
   1. Run the VAST Matrix program.
      
   2. By default, a single camera feed is displayed full-screen.
      
2. Settings of VAST – After running VAST Matrix, you must go to VAST to set up the settings of Matrix.
   1. Run the VAST LiveClient program.
      
   2. Click Matrix View, and then select Configuration > Virtual Matrix Management > Matrix Management… to bring up the setup window.
      
   3. You can click to search for Matrix recipients on the LAN or add a new matrix recipient by entering its IP address, account name and password.
      
   4. Click “Edit display settings to bring up the Display Settings window, where you can set the rotation interval, enable de-interlace mode, and toggle the display key frame only feature on or off.

VAST Matrix settings

After you have completed setup of Virtual Matrix, you can go to VAST Matrix to further configure Matrix.

1. Right-click anywhere in the window to bring up the popup menu. The menu contains the items Configuration, View Settings, About, and Exit.
   
2. In the Connection page of the Configuration window, you can change the port used by Matrix (the default is 3455), account (the default is root), and password.
   
3. In the Monitor page, you can select monitors for display.
   
4. In the Others page, you can enable various options.
   1. Auto launch at Windows startup: Enable this option to start VAST Matrix automatically when logging into Windows.
   2. Display only key frame: VAST Matrix will receive all video frames, but will decode and display the key frame. (Note: This setting will not have any effect if the codec in use is MJPEG.)
   3. Enable de-interlace: Enhances the displayed video quality for some cameras that do not have built-in de-interlacing capability. (Note: Enabling this feature will increase the processing load on the system.)
      
5. In the View Settings window, you can set how individual video cells will be displayed.
   
6. If a user selects “Exit, it will close Matrix and VAST will not be able to control it further.

Setting up multiple monitors

This section describes the setup of VAST Matrix for use with multiple monitors, using an installation with four monitors as an example.

1. Prepare graphic cards with more than a single port.
   
   
   Note: To ensure compatibility, choose graphics cards from the same vendor as the system’s graphics processor—for example, NVIDIA or ATI.
   
2. The system motherboard must support multiple graphics cards.
   
3. Install the two graphics cards on the motherboard.
4. Set up the monitors.

   
   Note: Each graphic card has a specific type of connector. Some of the most common ones are Mini Display, DVI and D-Sub.
   

5. Start up the computer system, and make sure all the graphics cards are detected. You can set the display order as desired.
   
6. After setting up multiple monitors for display using VAST Matrix, you can have a video wall like the one shown below.
   

Why does VAST playback show export failed ffffffff while exporting video clips?

Why I cannot export video clip from VAST playback? When I export video clip by clicking Mark I and II in playback, it shows “Fail – Export to AVI/EXE failed – ffffffff”.

Answer

The export path was changed to system folder, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\VIVOTEK Inc\VAST\Client\Playback\Export. When your Windows account doesn’t have Administrator privilege to run VAST Playback, you cannot export video clips to the system folder. There are two ways to export video clips. 1. Change the export path to a non-system folder, e.g. default path C:\ProgramData\VIVOTEK Inc\VAST\Client\PlayBack.

How to enable the SD9365/SD9366 wiper in the VAST LiveClient using the DO?

Question

How to enable the SD9365/SD9366 wiper in the VAST LiveClient using the DO?

Answer

The wiper control function is not integrated in the VAST LiveClient, this function was only implemented in the VAST2. If you require to control the wiper using the LiveClient, it is necessary to link the wiper to the DO trigger (can be controlled in the LiveClient). Note: before starting the configuration, be sure to enable the “Keep detecting DI/DO status” in the VAST Configuration > Client Settings > General Settings otherwise you wont be able to enable the DI/DO in the VAST device tree.

Please follow the next steps to configure the wiper using DO:

Step 1. Be sure that the DO is not being used in the SD9365/SD9366.
Step 2. Access the VAST LiveClient.
Step 3. Go to Configuration > Alarm Management… to set an alarm.

Step 4. In the Alarm Management window click “New”.

Step 5. Name your alarm (in this example we used “Move wiper”, but you can name the alarm as you like) and click Next.

Note: adding a description is optional.

Step 6. In the “Trigger” section, click on the “Add” button,

Then, choose the event as “Trigger type” (this will let the software know that is a trigger action), the category as “Camera events” (this will check the camera status) and be sure to select the “DO-1” as the type and click “OK”.

Note: you can also select another DO if available.

Step 7. In the Device List -DO-1 window, select the SD9365/SD9366 camera.

Be sure the Notification type is set to “Trigger” (this will check if the DO changed from Normal to Trigger). Then, click “OK”.

Step 8. Double check that the trigger has been saved, then click Next.

Step 9. In the “Action” section, click on the “Add” button to add the action to be performed (Wiper movement).

Step 10. In the “Action” window, select the HTTP action, then use the following URL to enable the wiper in the camera:
http://<camera IP>/cgi-bin/admin/peripheral.cgi?channel=0&operation=set& washer_mode=wiper&washer_status=on

So, each time the DO is enabled, it will send this command to the camera and the wiper will move. Note: be sure to authenticate the command, otherwise the camera will block the request.

Step 11. Be sure that the action was correctly saved and then press “Next”.

Step 12. Keep the schedule as “Always” (making the alarm available 24 houts /7), then press Next.

Note: you can modify the schedule if needed by selecting it and clicking on the “Edit” button.

Step 13. In the “Detail” section, be sure that everything has been correctly saved and then click on the “Finish” button to save the alarm.
 

Step 14. You will see the new alarm listed in the “Alarm List”.

Step 15. To control the wiper, go to the “Device Tree” in the LiveView and click on the “+” icon, you will see the list of available triggers in the device.

Step 16. Double click the “DO-1” to trigger the wiper.

Camera indicator is visible in device tree but display black images in the LiveClient

Why does VAST LiveClient do not display camera videos on certain computers, even though it shows the camera name and recording indicator?

Answer

This issue typically arises when the computer doesn’t support the default render mode that VAST employs. You may resolve this problem by updating your computer’s GPU drivers. Alternatively, you could adjust the render mode that VAST uses. In order to manually change the render mode please follow the next steps:

Step 1. Close the LiveClient application. Note: If the LiveClient is not closed, the changed wont be saved. 

Step 2. Go to the following folder: C:\ProgramData\VIVOTEK Inc\VAST\Client\LiveClient and using any editing tool (e.g Notepad++) open the following file: ClientSetting.ini. Once open, change the GDIOnly value to “1”

Step 3. After making the necessary changes, save the file. Close and then reopen the VAST LiveClient application. You should now be able to view the camera feeds.

Adding a substation to VAST

Introduction

This document describes how to easily add multiple cameras and ST7501- or VAST-based substations on other sites to a VAST server’s device list for centralized management.

How to add a substation to VAST

Please refer to the section “How to Manage Station” in the VAST user manual, which can be downloaded from the VIVOTEK website. You will find information on how to enable and configure the substation’s Relay feature (on either ST7501 or VAST) and how to add the substation to VAST’s device list for management.

How to manage substations

VAST supports the management of more than 64 cameras and multiple substations, allowing you to configure their settings and view video relayed from them.

1. Configuration
   1. To configure a substation, select its icon in the left panel of the LiveClient window and then click on the Configuration drop-down menu, or right-click on the icon and choose the setting page you desire from the pop-up contextual menu.

   2. 2. View cells: In the VAST LiveClient view cells, you can display video from a camera connected directly to the central VAST server and from a camera attached to a substation.
   

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues adding a substation to VAST’s device list, check the following areas.

1. Relay settings: Make sure that the Relay feature of the substation is enabled and that you are using the correct password. For additional information, refer to the section “How to Manage Station” in the VAST user manual.
2. If your VAST server is connected to the substation via Internet: Make sure that port 3454 (the port used for data communications) has been opened by the router on the substation side.
   
3. If your VAST server and substation are on the same LAN: Make sure that any firewall or anti-virus software on the substation PC is not blocking connections to port 3454.
   
   The following figures show an example using Microsoft Firewall of how to ensure port 3454 is available for connections.
   

Cannot visualize plate images in data magnet after upgrading the software

Cannot visualize plate images in data magnet after upgrading the VAST2 software to version 2.7.0.5800.

But the image can be visualized when accessing data magnet data in video cell.

Answer

This issue was caused by an internal error in one of the modules of version 2.7.0.5800 and was resolved in version 2.8.0.6700 (or above). Please upgrade the software to version 2.8.0.6700 or above in order to resolve this issue. It can be downloaded in the following link: https://www.vivotek.com/vast2#downloads. After upgrading you should be able to visualize the plates normally in the data magnet list.

What is the workflow of the Seamless Recording function?

In this article, we’ll be exploring in detail the seamless recording flow between a camera and the VAST software. Understanding this process is vital for optimizing your use of the system and troubleshooting potential issues.

Seamless Recording function:

Seamless recording refers to a continuous, uninterrupted process of capturing and storing video footage. Meaning that the camera and the VAST will work together to ensure there are no gaps in the recording timeline.

If there any gaps, the VAST server will simultaneously retrieve the time-tagged videos that were temporarily stored on SD/SDHC/SDXC cards.

VAST software behaviour:

• VAST retrieves lost recordings at 1X speed.
• Seamless recording demands twice the bandwidth as it involves simultaneous normal recording and retrieval.
• Seamless recording also necessitates twice the storage write speed.

For instance, if the recording stream bitrate is 2Mbps, during simultaneous normal recording and retrieval, VAST requires twice the bandwidth, amounting to 4Mbps in this scenario. This also means that a storage write speed of 4Mbps is required.

Seamless Recording Flow

On the camera side, the methods for identifying disconnecting and reconnecting differ.

• Disconnect:
  • TCP: If the camera does not receive a receiver report from VAST for 10 seconds, it will register as disconnected.
  • UDP: The camera sends a sender report every 7 seconds. If it does not receive a receiver report from VAST twice consecutively, it will register as disconnected.
• Connect:
  • VAST attempts to connect to the camera every 3 seconds using a GUID. If the GUID matches, the camera will register as connected.

Following this, lets see the following example. Suppose a camera is connected via TCP and UDP:

• For TCP: If the camera doesn’t hear from VAST for 10 seconds, it assumes it’s disconnected.
• For UDP: The camera sends a report every 7 seconds. If it doesn’t get a response from VAST twice in a row (around 14 seconds), it assumes it’s disconnected.

To reconnect, VAST tries every 3 seconds using a unique code (GUID). If the GUID is correct, the camera assumes it’s reconnected. In short, the camera and VAST constantly check in with each other. If they lose contact, they realize quickly and try to reconnect.

You can download GV-Eye from the App Store or Google Play and install the application.

Upon first-time startup, you will be directed to a dialog box to enable or disable Demo Mode. Select Yes to enable Demo Mode to be guided through the key features of GV-Eye. Select No to disable Demo Mode and the main page appears.

   1. General Mode

The following main page of General Mode is exemplified using an iPad. The main page is set to be General Mode by default.

• 1. Easy Mode

To quickly access real-time images of all channels for individual hosts, tap Settings and enable Easy Mode. Optionally, click Migrate to EZmode to load the camera data from General Mode.

When Easy Mode is enabled, tap the device you wish to display the camera channels from.

The live view is shown as below, exemplified using an iPad.

Note: Swipe right on the live view images to access all channels on different pages.

1. GV-Relay QR Code

GV-Eye can be connected to GV-IP devices and software under the same LAN, through the Internet or by scanning of the GV-Relay QR code. The following sections focus on connecting by GV-Relay QR-code, which avoids the precondition of configuring for Windows Firewall and port forwarding. To do this, the binding of a GV-Relay account is required, see 5.1 Setting up GV-Relay Account.

Note:

1. This function is only supported by GV-DVR / NVR (V8.8.0 or later), GV-VMS (V17.4 / V18.1 or later), GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway (V2.0.0 or later), GV-SNVR0411 (firmware V2.00 or later), GV-SNVR0811 (firmware V2.30 or later), GV-SNVR1600 (firmware V1.20 or later), GV-SNVR0812, GV-SNVR1611, GV-SNVR1612, GV-SNVR3203, GV-SNVR6403, and UA-DVR / SNVR.

3. All images streamed via GV-Relay QR-code connection shall consume the data within the GV-Relay account according to their resolutions and fps, and you won’t be able to access such streams once the data is used up.

• 1. Setting up GV-Relay Account

For connecting by the QR-code scan, you must first set up a GV-Relay account. To do this, tap □ on the main page to access the settings page and tap Add a binding account under Account Management. The following page appears.

1. Type a valid e-mail address under Mailbox binding to use it as your GV-Relay account.
2. Tap Get verification Code. The Email verification page appears.
3. Upon receiving of the verification code, enter the 4-digit code within its validity period of 10 minutes, as illustrated below and tap verification.

1. Alternatively, tap Google to log into your Google account.
2. Once successfully bound, the e-mail or Google account is used as your GV-Relay account and tracks the amount of data available, for viewing images through relay.

Note: All GV-Relay accounts are given 10.00 GB of free data every month and additional data can be purchased as desired, see 5.3.1 Purchasing Relay Data.

• 1. Connecting via GV-Relay QR Code

You can connect to GV-Software or devices by scanning its GV-Relay QR code. To do this, follow the steps below.

2. To use this function, the GV-Software or devices must be connected to the Internet.

1. For GV-VMS, click Toolbar > Network > Mobile Server > QR Code, select Enable and click Start. By default, GV-Relay uses the port value of 443.

Note: When port 443 has been used by other servers, such as for WebCam SSL or RTSP, select port 9443 for GV-Relay connection instead.

Tap the Shopping cart V next to the amount of data you want to purchase.

The data of a GV-Relay account can be shared to other mobile devices for GV-Relay streaming on those devices. To share the data from device A to device B, follow the steps below:

1. On device A, tap Share account barcode (No. 3, 5.3 Managing GV-Relay Account) The Share account QR code, with its validity period, appears.

1. On device B, start GV-Eye and tap □ > Add a binding account and tap the QR Code button l~ .
2. Scan the QR code from Step 1 using device B. Once successfully scanned, the data from device A is shared to device B.

All images streamed by GV-Relay connection on both device A and B will consume the data from device A.

Removing Shared Device(s)

To remove a shared device, tap Shared device list (No. 4, 5.3 Managing GV-Relay Account) and select the account you want to remove.

6.1 Required Configurations on GV-Software before Connecting

3. On your GV-VMS, click Home > Toolbar ÉS > Network on > Mobile Service.

2. In the Mobile tab, select the upper-left checkbox to enable mobile service and its corresponding ports. Keep the default Stream Port of 56000 or modify if necessary.

1. Optionally select Run ViewLog Server in the General tab to allow remote playback through GV-Eye.

1. Click OK. The GV-DVR / NVR can now be added to GV-Eye.

6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication

For GV-Software installed on a PC with active Windows Firewall to be accessible by GV-Eye, the related services / programs must first be enabled:

1. Open Control Panel from the Windows Start menu, click System and Security >

Windows Firewall and click Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.

The Allowed Programs dialog box appears.

1. On the Allowed Programs list, select to allow the related services / programs depending on the type of GV-Software to which you want to access.

1. For GV-VMS / DVR / NVR, allow GeoRSWLite.exe, MobileServerServiceLite.exe and ViewLog Server for both private and public networks.
2. For GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway, allow GeoRecordingServer.exe and ViewLog Server for both private and public networks.

4. Click OK. The GV-Software can now be communicated through Windows Firewall.

1. If the GV-Software is behind a router, see 6.3 Port Forwarding and 6.4 Manual Connection, respectively, for connecting to GV-Eye through the Internet. Otherwise see 6.5 Automatic Connection for connecting to GV-Eye within the same LAN.

6.3 Port Forwarding

If the GV-IP devices and/or software to which you are trying to connect are behind a router, you need to configure for port forwarding.

IMPORTANT: Prior to port forwarding, first make sure you have a public IP accessible through the Internet. This can be done by one of the following:

1. Register for a static public IP address from your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
2. Assign a domain name to your dynamic public IP address through the router’s DDNS settings. Consult your router manufacturer for details.
3. For port forwarding depending on the brand and model of your router, click here.
4. Make sure the ports mapped coincide with the GV-IP devices and software to which you

want to connect:

1. After Port Forwarding is set, look for the GV-IP devices’ and / or software’s public IP address by typing “what is my ip” in a Web browser. Your Public IPv4 IP address is displayed within WhatIsMYIP.com.

6.4 Manual Connection

[General Mode]

1. Tap the GV-Eye icon H on the desktop of your mobile device. This page appears.

1. Tap the Add button ^]. This page appears.

[Easy Mode]

1. Tap the GV-Eye icon H on the desktop of your mobile device. This page appears.

1. On the Add Device page, enter the IP address, port number, username and password of the GV-IP device or software and enter a name.

• Type the local / public IP address or the domain name of the GV-IP device / software to which you want to connect, for within the LAN or through the Internet. For the public IP address, see Step 3, 6.3 Port Forwarding.

Camera 1

• Only modify the Web Port of 80, which is the default web port for all GV-IP device / software, when the corresponding web port on the device / software to which you want to connect has been changed.
• Type one of the below port values as Port, depending on the GV-IP device / software to which you want to connect.

• Type the login Username and Password of the GV-IP device / software to which you want to connect.

1. Tap Test Connect. The total number of cameras and each installed GV-IP Cameras are displayed.
2. By default, all the installed cameras are selected. To change this setting, deselect the cameras by tapping the check marks next to the cameras, or tap Select to set the range of cameras to add.
3. Tap Save on the top-right corner. The selected cameras are added to Camera List.

6.5 Automatic Connection

For automatic connection, GV-IP devices and software must be within the same LAN as your GV-Eye. For connecting to GV-Software, the related settings on the respective software must first be configured, see 6.1 Required Configurations on GV-Software before Connecting.

1. Follow Step 1 to 2 in 6.4 Manual Connection to access the Add Device page.

[General Mode]

1. Tap the WiFi icon Q below. GeoVision IP devices and software under the same LAN

will be detected.

1. Select the desired GV-IP devices and software and tap Save LB

1. To display a camera live view, tap and drag the camera from the Camera List to the live view grid you want.

1. To disconnect a live view, tap and hold the live view and drag the live view into the trash

can icon.

1. To remove an entry from the Camera List, glide the entry to the left and tap Delete.

1. To change the device information, tap the entry from the Camera List to modify. The

modified camera will be reconnected after you save the settings.

[Easy Mode]

1. Tap Search by Wifi. GeoVision IP devices and software under the same LAN will be detected.
2. Select the desired IP devices and type its ID and password.

Once connected, the live view of all channels will be displayed.

1. Group Management

Follow the steps below to create up to 100 different groups for your GV-IP devices. Note that this function is only applicable under General Mode.

1. In the Settings page (No. 6, 4.1 General Mode), tap Group Management.

1. On the Group Management page, tap Edit, and tap the name field to name the group.

1. To choose layouts for each group, tap the > sign. There are 6 pages in total with each displaying up to 16 channels of live view.

1. Live View

Tap any live view within the live view grid for a full-screen display as below.

You can access the following functions by tapping the corresponding icon. When the functions are enabled, the record icon glows red while the others glow blue.

Note:

1. I / O Trigger does not support IP devices of the following models: GV-ABL2702 / ABL4712 / ABL8712 / AVD2700 / AVD4710 / AVD8710 / EBD4711 / EBD8711 / SD2322-IR / SD2722-IR / SD3732-IR / TDR2700 / TDR4700.
2. To enable the microphone function for the following IP camera models, make sure to set the RTSP Authentication to Basic from Setup > Security > Network Security > Authentication on the cameras’ Web interface: GV-ABL / ADR / AVD / EBD / TBL / TDR / TFD / TVD Series, GV-BLFC5800, GV-EBFC5800, GV-FER5702, GV-PTZ5810-IR, SD2322-IR / SD2722-IR / SD3732-IR / SD4825-IR / SD4834-IR.

Note:

1. The control of enabling or disabling recording EO is only available for compatible products and versions. For details, see 2.2 Supported Products for Enabling Recording.
2. PTZ Panel functions are fully or partially supported by the following GV-IP device:

• GV-IP Speed Dome and GV-PTZ Camera: all functions supported
• GV-PT Camera: all functions supported except zoom in / out
• GV-IP Cameras that support remote focus / zoom adjustment: only support auto focus, focus in / out and zoom in / out.

1. The microphone function is only supported by GV-IP Cameras and GV-Recording Server V1.3 or later.
2. Playing Back Recordings
   1. Accessing the Recorded Files

Make sure the following functions are enabled ahead to allow remote access from GV-Eye:

• GV-DVR / NVR / GV-VMS: enable Remote ViewLog Service. See 6.1 Required Configurations on GV-Software before Connecting.
• GV-IP Camera / GV-Video Server / GV-Compact DVR: enable ViewLog Server

Note:

1. If a router or firewall is installed with the remote servers and IP devices, ensure the corresponding playback port is open. For example, to play back the files from GV-DVR / NVR / VMS, open port 5552 on the router. For Windows Firewall settings see 6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication. For port forwarding and a full list of default port numbers, see 6.3 Port Forwarding.
2. To enable the Audio function for playback in GV-Eye, you must activate related Audio Settings in hosts.

GV-VMS: Setup > Audio Setting > enable Rec Audio and Round-the-Clock Audio options.

GV-DVR: Configure > A/V Settings > Audio Settings > enable Rec Audio and Round-the-Clock Audio options.

GV-SNVR0400F/0411/0811/0812/1600/1611/1612: Camera Settings > enable Audio.

1. The following models with recordings saved on the SD card do not support playback from the local storage: GV-ABL / TBL Series, GV-ADR / TDR Series, GV-AVD / TVD Series, GV-BLFC5800, GV-EBD Series, GV-EBFC5800, GV-FER5702, GV-PTZ5810-IR, GV-SD2322-IR / SD2722-IR / SD3732-IR / SD4825-IR / SD4834-IR, GV-TFD Series, UA-B580F3, and UA-IP cameras.
2. GV-Eye only supports single-channel playback.
3. A maximum of two GV-Eye connections are supported at a time for remote playback for the following UA-SNVR / HD DVR models: UA-SNVRL810-P, UA-SNVR1620-P, UA-XVL810 / 1610, and UA-XVR810 / 1620.

To access the recorded files:

1. From the live view page, tap n. This page appears.

Note: The date and time marked with the asterisk (*) symbol indicates its daylight saving time (DST).

1. The recording files of the day are listed. Tap to select up to five videos. Tap to start

playing.

1. You can also tap the calendar icon |g] to view the recording status.

9.2 Playback Display

The full-screen display is as below.

You can access the following functions by tapping the corresponding icon. With the functions enabled, the icons glow blue.

1. Edge Settings

The Edge settings section allows you to configure the IP address, device name and storage path for GV-IP devices. Note that the settings are only available for General Mode.

To access the settings, enable Edge Tool in the Settings page (see 11. System Settings), and the Edge settings button m will be added on the main page. Tap m and the Edge settings page appears.

• 1. Changing IP Address

To change the IP address of a GV-IP Device, follow the steps below.

Note: The function of changing IP address is only supported by compatible GV-IP Camera, GV-Video Server and GV-Compact DVR.

1. On the IP settings page, select the desired GV-IP Device. A green tick appears under camera name.
2. Tap Next at the upper-right corner. This page appears.

To change the device name of a GV-IP Device, follow the steps below.

10.4 Monitoring HDD Storage

To view the HDD storage status, tap the Info button O on the HDD settings page. The HDD Info page appears and displays the capacity.

Note:

1. This function is only supported by GV-IP Camera firmware V3.0 or later and GV-Target IP Camera firmware V1.02 or later.
2. For the camera with its storage path being assigned on the GV-NAS System, the HDD Info page displays the NAS storage capacity; for the camera without storage path assigned, the HDD Info page displays the SD card storage capacity.
3. System Settings

To access GV-Eye settings, tap □ on the main page. The settings page appears.

[LAYOUT MANAGEMENT]

• Group Management: Creates groups and arranges live view layouts. GV-Eye can receive up to 96 channels of live view from various GV-IP devices. Users can create up to 100 groups, and each group has 6 pages in total with each displaying up to 16 channels of live view. See 7. Group Management for details.
• Demo Mode: Displays 3 channels of live view for you to experience the features of GV-Eye.

Note: If you enable Demo Mode, your current connection of IP-devices and layout settings of live view will be temporarily closed. Instead, 3 demo channels and default layout will be displayed. To resume your previous settings, disable Demo Mode.

[ADD CAMERA]

• Default Username: Sets the default username when adding a new IP device to the Camera List. The default is admin.
• Default Password: Sets the default password when adding a new IP device to the Camera List. The default is admin.
• Auto Add to Live View: Automatically displays the added IP devices to live view. This function is disabled by default.

[LIVE VIEW SETTING]

• Show Device Name: Displays device name on live view.
• Show Device Time: Displays device time on live view.
• Keep Image Ratio: Displays the live view in proportion to the device’s resolution.
• Multi View Buffering: Enhances the smoothness of live view with multiple divisions. Note this function is for Android devices only.
• ARM & EMAIL: Displays the alarm invocation and e-mail notification icons on live view.
• Default HD: Displays the live view in HD quality video. This function is enabled by default.
• 360 View: Enables the panoramic view.
• PTZ Speed: Changes the PTZ speed. Speed 1 is the slowest and speed 5 the fastest.
• *Delete All Entries on Camera List: Click to delete all the entries from the Camera List of all groups.
• *Export Camera List: Export the current camera list as a QR code image to the internal storage of smartphone.
• *Import Camera List: Scan the QR code containing the camera list, previously exported, to be loaded into GV-Eye. Select Append to import a new camera list along with the existing one. Select Replace to replace all existing camera list with the newly imported list.
• Edge Tool: Displays the edge settings icon on live view.

[ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT]

• *Add a binding account: Logs into a GV-Relay Account, see 5. GV-Relay QR Code.

[PLAYBACK SETTING]

• *Audio: Enable Audio function for video playback.
• Hardware Acceleration: Enable Hardware Acceleration function to increase the smoothness of playback. Note this function is enabled by default and for Android devices only.

[SYSTEM SETTING]

• *Disable Screen Off: Turns off sleep mode of the mobile device when the GV-Eye is running.

Note: Under Easy Mode, only the functions marked with the asterisk (*) symbol are available.

1. Defining the User Privilege of GV-VMS for GV-Eye

In GV-VMS, you can alter user privileges to determine which user account can access Video, Audio, PTZ, Monitor Start / Stop and I / O Output Control from mobile app GV-Eye.

Note: The function is only supported by GV-VMS V16.10.3 or later.

To set up the user privilege:

1. Click Home click the account ID, click Password Setup, and select Local Account

Edit and select the Web / Mobile tab.

1. Select or deselect Video, Audio, PTZ, Monitor Start / Stop and I / O Output Control of specific cameras to allow or deny the user the function.

For instance, firstly, on the Local Account Edit dialog box of GV-VMS, you can deny User1

the access of PTZ. Then, when you log on GV-Eye with the ID and password of User1,

you will see that User1 cannot access PTZ on GV-Eye.

1. Connecting to Authentication Server

GV-Authentication Server is a central credential management system for you to manage multiple GV-VMS or GV-DVR / NVR systems. By connecting to GV-Authentication Server, you can access the cameras from multiple GV-VMS or GV-DVR / NVR systems with one Authentication user account on GV-Eye.

Note:

1. Other device connection functions on GV-Eye will be disabled while connecting to GV-Authentication Server.
2. This is only applicable to GV-Eye for iOS / Android V2.8 or later (under General Mode) and GV-Authentication Server V18.3 or later.

To create clients / user accounts in GV-Authentication Server:

1. To create a GV-Eye client, highlight Client List from the left pane and click Add A Client button.
2. To create one Authentication user account that has access rights to assigned GV-VMS or GV-DVR / NVR systems, select Account Setup > Password Setup. Refer to Creating User Accounts, 11.5 Authentication Server in GV-DVR / NVR User’s Manual, or 9.4 Authentication Server in GV-VMS User’s Manual.

3. Click the Start Service button on GV-Authentication Server.

To connect to GV-Authentication Server:

For iOS users

1. Click Settings □ > Auth Server. The following page appears.

For Android users

1. Click Settings □ > Demo Mode > Auth Service Mode. The following page appears.

1. Type IP Address, Port, Authorized ID, and Authorized Password of GV-Authentication Server.
2. Type the following connection information:

• Client Name: Type the client name you have created on GV-Authentication Server.
• User ID / User Password: Type the ID and password of the user account you have created on GV-Authentication Server.

1. Select Get Auth Host List.

After GV-Authentication Server is successfully connected, you will be able to access the cameras from multiple GV-VMS or DVR / NVR systems assigned to the Authentication user account. You can proceed with desired configurations on these cameras.
