How do I use a Hikvision NVR’s “Virtual Host” feature?

One of the most successful selling points of a Hikvision NVR to many small-setup customers is the “Plug and Play” functionality that simplifies the setup process of their surveillance system. However, plugging a camera directly into a port on the NVR, unfortunately, does not allow you to access the camera via its own internal LAN IP using a browser due to it being on the NVRs internal network, and this can significantly reduce the number of configuration options you have access to.

The NVR does allow you to configure many options for each connected camera, but some essential features are only accessible via connecting to the camera itself (such as audio codec options). This was of course a big problem previously.

With the advent of newer firmware and models of NVR, Hikvision has introduced a feature called Virtual Host. Activating this feature turns your NVR into a “host” for the cameras allowing you to connect to them via a browser. Essentially, the NVR forwards all traffic received from your browser to the appropriate camera you’re trying to connect to, eliminating the biggest problem of plug and play functionality.

How Do I Configure the Camera’s Onscreen Display Text?

All Hikvision users will have seen that when you first log in to a camera the live view will have overlayed text stating the date & time and the default name of the camera “IPcamera 01″, depending on your requirements you may want to change some or all of this overlay text and below is the instruction for how to do that.

Method 1 – In a Web Browser

Below we will take you through each of the above settings and what they do:

Character Set – This lets you select the characters/language the OSD settings use, by default all UK stock will come with this set as GBK for English characters but if you are a European customer and you want to enter special characters from your particular language (e.g. é, ü, ç, etc…) you can switch it to EUC-KR to access those characters (do this will require the camera to reboot).

Display Name / Date / Week – These tick boxes let you show/hide the camera name (Display Name), the current date (Display Date), and the day of the week (Display Week)

Camera Name – This box lets you set the displayed name of the camera, it will also change the name of the camera shown in the System menu and if added to an NVR it will change the name shown in the live view camera list and the Camera Management list.

Time Format – This dropdown lets you select how the time appears in your live view, either 24-hour format (00:00 – 23:00) or 12-hour format (00:00 – 12:00)

Date Format – This dropdown lets you select how the day, month, and year are displayed. Your options are DD/MM/YYYY (UK format), MM/DD/YYYY (US format), and YYYY/MM/DD (Chinese/International Standard format). You also have the option of separating the day, month, and year with either a “–” or a “/“.

Text OverLay – On most cameras, you should have the option to add up to 4 additional text overlays to the live view. You can use all of them or none of them depending on your requirements.

Display Mode – This dropdown lets you choose how the text behaves on screen, by default it will usually be set to Not Transparent & Not Flashing which means the text will obscure objects/people behind it and it will be onscreen all the time. You have the option to change it to one of the following – Transparent & Flashing / Transparent & Not Flashing / Not Transparent & Flashing – When set to transparent the text will become semi-transparent so that you can see objects/people behind the text and if set to flashing the text will flash on & off screen every few seconds (there are no controls for the flashing duration).

OSD Size – Technically this setting should adjust the size of the OSD text but we’ve found that when changing it there was little change to the text and so we would just stick to the default Auto option because this will allow the text size to adapt based on where you are viewing the live image (e.g. whether a small phone screen or a large TV).

Font Color – This dropdown lets you select the colour used by the OSD text, by default the camera will use Black&White Self-adaptive which means the text colour will automatically switch between black & white based on what is behind the text (e.g. if a person walks through the text) and for high-security sites, this can be an important feature for using the footage in court because the adaptive text shows that the image/text has not been manipulated in post. If the scenario requires it you can select Custom which will allow you to pick the text colour from a standard colour table.

Alignment – Again like OSD size this setting doesn’t appear to have a huge impact so we would just leave it as the default Custom and you can adjust the positioning/alignment of the OSD text by dragging the red boxes around the live view window above (these red boxes are only for adjusting the text position and will not appear on the actual live view image).

Method 2 – Via the NVRs GUI

You can access similar OSD settings from the NVR by going to Camera > Display and selecting the camera you want to configure.

Although, as you can see from the above screenshot you won’t get all the settings that can be found by logging into the cameras directly.

How do I stop my Hikvision NVR from beeping?

If a Hikvision NVR notices what it deems to be a critical error, or “exception”, it will make a constant beeping sound to draw your attention to this.

These exceptions can occur when:
.

• A hard drive has not been installed or properly formatted

• There is an error with the hard drive, it has been damaged, or the cameras are just not recording properly

• A hard drive has been filled and not set to overwrite

• There is an IP conflict, preventing the NVR from operating properly

• The NVR detects an illegal login

• The NVR loses its network connection

Of course, ignoring these exceptions are not recommended. However, you can disable the beeping while you address whatever the issue is by following the steps below.

Step 1:

Connect to your NVR in a web browser by using its IP address and logging in.

Step 2:

Check what the exception that is causing the beeping is in the NVR’s logs. To find these, go to:

Configuration → System → Maintenance → Log

Set the log search so that the “Major Type” is “Exception”, with the start and end time covering a period when the beeping has occurred.

For example, you can see that it is an IP address conflict causing it in this case.

Note – Camera disconnections will not cause the NVR to beep.

Step 3:

Go to:

Configuration → Event → Basic Event → Exception

Find the “exception type” identified in step 2 in the dropdown on this page.

Step 4:

Select the exception shown in your logs from the dropdown.

You will see that “Buzzer” is ticked as a “Normal Linkage” action, which is what is causing the NVR to beep.

Step 5:

Untick this, click “Save”, and the beeping should stop.

How to set up a Hikvision CCTV system

Setting up a Hikvision CCTV to ensure it’s working properly is relatively complex – making sure all parts are set-up correctly.

How to add IP Cameras Manually

Before you can view live video or record video files, you must add the network cameras to the device’s connection list.

Before You Start

Ensure the network connection is valid and the IP camera has been activated.

Step 1 Click [CAMERA ICON] on the main menu bar to enter the Camera Management interface.

Step 2 Click the Custom Add tab on the title bar to enter the Add IP Camera interface.

Step 3 Input the IP address, protocol, management port, and other information.

Step 4 Enter the IP camera’s login user name and password.

Step 5 Click Add to finish adding the IP camera.

Step 6 (Optional) Click Continue to Add to add additional IP cameras.

How to Automatically add Searched Online IP Cameras

Step 1 On the Camera Management interface, click the Online Device panel to expand the Online Device interface.

Step 2 Select the automatically searched online devices.

Step 3 Click Add.

Note: If the IP camera you wish to add has not been activated, activate it from the IP camera list on the camera management interface.

How to add PoE Cameras to a CCTV system

The PoE interfaces enable the device system to pass electrical power safely, along with data, on Ethernet cabling to the connected PoE cameras. The number of PoE cameras supported varies by device model. If you disable the PoE interface, you can connect to online network cameras. Also, the PoE interface supports the Plug-and-Play function. For example, for DS-7608NI-I2/8P, to connect six network cameras via PoE interfaces and two online cameras, disable two PoE interfaces in the Edit IP Camera menu. Follow the steps to add network cameras for devices that support the PoE function.

How to add PoE Cameras to a CCTV system

Step 1 Connect PoE cameras to the device’s PoE ports with network cables.

Step 2 Go to Camera > Camera > IP Camera to view camera images and information.

How to add Non-PoE IP Cameras

You can disable the PoE interface by selecting manual while the current channel can be used as a normal channel and the parameters can also be edited.

Step 1 Go to Camera > Camera > IP Camera.

Step 2 Position the cursor on a window with no linked IP camera and click (……….)

Step 3 Set Adding Method to Manual. • Plug-and-Play: The camera is physically connected to the PoE interface. Its parameters cannot be edited. You can go to System > Network > TCP/IP to change the IP address of the PoE port. • Manual: Add IP camera without a physical connection, via the network.

Step 4 Enter the IP address, the user name, and password of administrator manually.

Step 5 Click OK.

How to configure PoE Interfaces

When long-distance PoE transmission (100 to 300 m) is required, enable long distance mode for the PoE channel.

Step 1 Go to Camera > Camera > PoE Settings.

Step 2 Enable or disable long network cable mode by selecting Long Distance or Short Distance radio.

• Long Distance: Long-distance (100 to 300 meters) network transmissions via PoE interface.

• Short Distance: Short-distance (<100 meters) network transmission via PoE interface.

Note: The PoE ports are enabled with the short distance mode by default. The bandwidth of an IP camera connected to the PoE via long network cable (100 to 300 meters) cannot exceed 6 MP. The allowed maximum long network cable may be less than 300 meters, depending on IP camera model and cable materials. When the transmission distance reaches 100 to 250 meters, you must use CAT-5E or CAT-6 network cable to connect with the PoE interface. When the transmission distance reaches 250 to 300 meters, you must use CAT-6 network cable to connect with the PoE interface. Refer to Appendix Error! Reference source not found.Error! Reference source not found. for the list of IP cameras.

Step 3 Click Apply.

How to configure cameras with a customised Protocols on a CCTV system

To connect the network cameras that are not configured with the standard protocols, you can configure customised protocols for them. The system provides 16 customised protocols.

Step 1 Click Protocol at the top taskbar to enter the protocol management interface.

Step 2 Select the protocol type of transmission and choose the transfer protocols.

Type: The network camera adopting custom protocols must support getting streams through standard RTSP.

Path: Contact the network camera manufacturer to consult the URL (uniform resource locator) for getting main stream and sub-stream. The format of the URL is: [Type]://[IP Address of the network camera]:[Port]/[Path]. Example: rtsp://192.168.1.55:554/ch1/main/av_stream.

Note: The protocol type and the transfer protocols must be supported by the connected IP camera. After adding the customised protocols, the protocol name will be listed in the drop-down list.

How to configure OSD Settings

You can configure the OSD (On-screen Display) settings for the camera, including date/time, camera name, etc.

Step 1 Go to Camera > Display.

Step 2 Select the camera from the drop-down list.

Step 3 Edit the name in the Camera Name text field.

Step 4 Check the Display Name, Display Date, and Display Week checkbox(es) to show the information on the image.

Step 5 Set the date format, time format, and display mode.

OSD Configuration Interface

Step 6 Use the mouse to click and drag the text frame on the preview window to adjust the OSD position.

Step 7 Click Apply to apply the settings.

How to configure the Privacy Mask

The privacy mask protects personal privacy by concealing parts of the image from view or recording with a masked area.

Step 1 Go to Camera > Privacy Mask

Step 2 Select the camera on which to set the privacy mask.

Step 3 Click the Enable checkbox to enable this feature.

Step 4 Use the mouse to draw a zone on the window. The zones will be marked by different frame colours.

Note Up to four privacy masks zones can be configured and the size of each area can be adjusted. Clear the configured privacy mask zones on the window by clicking the corresponding Clear Zone 1-4 icons on the right of the window, or click Clear All to clear all zones.

Step 5 Click Apply to save the settings.

How to configure video Parameters

You can customise the image parameters including the brightness, contrast, and saturation for the Live View and recording effect.

Step 1 Go to Camera > Display.

Step 2 Select a camera from the drop-down list.

Step 3 Adjust the slider or click on the up/down arrow to set the value of the brightness, contrast, or saturation.

Step 4 Click Apply to save the settings.

How to configure the Day/Night Switch

Step 1 The camera can be set to day, night, or auto switch mode according to the surrounding illumination conditions.

Step 2 Go to Camera > Display.

Step 3 Select the camera from the drop-down list.

Step 4 Set the day/night switch mode to Day, Night, Auto, or Auto-Switch. Auto: The camera automatically switches between day mode and night mode according to the illumination. The sensitivity ranges from 0 to 7, and higher sensitivity more easily triggers the mode switch. The switch time refers to the interval between the day/night switch. You can set it from five sec to 120 sec. Auto-Switch: The camera switches the day mode and the night mode according to the start time and end time you set.

Step 5 Click Apply to save the settings.

How to configure other camera parameters

For a connected camera, you can configure the camera parameters including the exposure mode, backlight, and image enhancement.

Step 1 Go to Camera > Display.

Step 2 Select a camera from the drop-down list.

Step 3 Configure the camera parameters.

• Exposure: Set the camera exposure time (1/10000 to 1 sec). A larger exposure value results in a brighter image.

• Backlight: Set the camera’s wide dynamic range (0 to 100). When the surrounding illumination and the object have large differences in brightness, you should set the WDR value.

• Image Enhancement: For optimised image contrast enhancement.

Step 4 Click Apply to save the settings.

How to view CCTV via Hikvision app – IVMS 4500

Step 1 Download App Download the free HikVison iVMS- 4500 lite app from Google play store OR the Apple app store. This app works well with Android and Apple phones and tablets. The app is available for windows phones but we have mixed success with windows phones. Note: If you are downloading it to a tablet like the iPad choose the iVMS-4500 HD option The HD version has slightly different screens to those shown. (This guide only refers to the iVMS 4500 lite version ONLY).

Step 2 Open Menu Open the app and tap the menu button which is the 3 small lines inside the circle on the top left.

Step 3 Press devices A menu list will appear chose ‘Devices’.

Step 4 Add a new device A list of devices will appear. If this is the first time that you have used the app a preconfigured ‘demo’ device will appear. To add your own device by pressing the + sign at the top right.

Step 5 Add device details Enter your devices remote details as below. Alias: Enter a name for your device. Register Mode: IP/Domain Address: amco”yourmonitoringnumber” .ddns.net (without the quote marks) For example:amco7865.ddns.net Username: admin Password: (Your PW) Then press the save button at the top right. Your device details will now be verified.

Step 6 Start Live view After a few seconds you see a start live view button appear at the bottom of the screen, press it to start viewing your cameras. If start live view does not appear, check your settings and make sure if you are at home that you are on 4G/another WIFI AP than your home WIFI. As this is a remote connection. It will not work when you’re at home unless you connect via 4G.

“I’ve just bought a Hikvision IP kit from you – what do I do?”

What you need:

• the Hikvision camera/s

• The Hikvision NVR

• Precrimped CAT5E / CAT6 Cables or an installer who supplies the cables (with RJ45 ends). (1 per camera and 1 from the NVR to the modem)

• A monitor or TV (with VGA or HDMI connections) (you can buy a 22′ 1080p monitor from Officeworks for around 110.)

Steps:

• Run the CAT6 cables to the locations you require (1 per camera). The cables should come back to the location where your NVR is located. Note the NVR makes a running fan noise so a cupboard / walk-in is ideal.

• Connect & install the cameras to one end of the CATcable and connect the other end to the NVR. Please seal connections with electrical tape to protect against water ingress

• Plug in the monitor via a VGA or HDMI cable to the NVR

• Connect an ethernet cable from the NVR to the modem (if you wish to do remote viewing).

• Turn on the NVR & Monitor – you should see a setup screen.

• Ensure you write down the username / password you choose. Its a pain in the bum to reset.

• After setup, you should see your cameras on the screen!

How to backup video in NVMS 2 software

How to live view cameras in NVMS2.0Lite software?

How to uninstall NVMS2.0 Lite software?

Uninstalling the software

In this interface, you can search the information of the vehicles entering and leaving the parking lot.
Set the filtering condition, such as start and end time, license plate, vehicle type, and lane.

Pass Record – includes vehicle information, entry/exit time, parking, lane, pass type, etc. The pass register can also be modified as needed. Select the step record and click [Modify] to modify it.
In addition, the image of the captured vehicle can be viewed on the right by clicking on this registration information. Click [Zoom In] to enlarge the Click [Download] to download the image.

At the same time, you can also play the record by clicking .
For check out, you can see the stay time.
You can also export all searched step records by clicking [Export].

Search for information on temporary vehicles
Go to Start>Parking Management Integrated Search Information on Temporary Vehicle Charges. Information on temporary vehicle fees can be found here as shown below.

Search for payment information for vehicles on the white list
Go to Start>Parking Management> Integrated Search for Payment Information for Vehicles on the White List. Payment information of the whitelisted vehicle can be viewed as shown below.

Vehicle Search
In this interface, you can check the information of the vehicles that stay in the parking lot longer than the preset time.
Enable this function, enter the parking duration, and click [Search] to display the detailed information of the overstayed vehicles, such as license plate number, entry time, and duration.

How to monitor vehicles with NVMS2.0 PMS software and camera?

After setting up the LPR camera joint, assigning the corresponding vehicle monitoring lanes and adding vehicles to the vehicle list, the captured vehicle image and its detailed information will be displayed in the following interface when the vehicle passes the LPR camera to the lane side and your license plate number is accurately captured and recognized by LPR cameras.

If the vehicle passing through the lane is not added to the linked vehicle list or blacklist and “Temporary vehicle” in the automatic passing rule is not selected, this vehicle will not be allowed to pass automatically.

If the lane type is set to “Exit-Free”, the temporary vehicle will be able to pass automatically; if the lane type is set as “Exit-Charge”, the temporary vehicle will be able to pass after the owner pays the parking fee according to the established temporary vehicle charging rule.

If the temporary vehicle charge rule is set to “None”, the operator will need to enter the amount of the parking fee, and then manually open the barrier to let it through.

Linked Vehicles
When the vehicle added to the whitelist vehicle group enters or leaves the parking lot, it will be considered as the vehicle whose parking fee
you have paid per month.

For example, if the owner of the linked vehicle has paid one month’s parking fee, then the vehicle can enter/exit parking automatically for one month.
At the entrance, the parking time of the linked vehicle is within the validity period, and the linked vehicle enters the effective time, it can be allowed to enter automatically. If the linked vehicle’s parking time has expired, it will be treated as a temporary vehicle.

At the exit, regardless of whether it is charged or not, the linked vehicle can automatically pass through.

Blacklisted
Vehicles Vehicles added to the blacklist cannot pass through, even if the license plate number is captured by the LPR camera.
Note: Vehicles that have been linked to a parking lot cannot be added to the blacklist, and vice versa.

How to import, export vehicle license plates from NVMS PMS software?

This technical note will show how to import or export the vehicle license plate database for LPR operation.

You can add multiple vehicles in one lot. Click [Import], and then select “Export Template” to export a template (Excel).

Fill in the vehicle information according to the template and save it. Then go to the vehicle management interface and click “Import Excel” to import the vehicle information file.
Check the vehicle you want to export and click [Export] to export the vehicle information to the designated route.

How to add and configure LPR camera in NVMS2.0 PMS Software?

The following note will show how to add a Meriva Technology MAPR-200 LPR camera to monitor the LPR function and manage the database as well as perform database plate information lookup.

Add Meriva MAPR-200 LPR Camera to PMS Software

Before using the software it is necessary to add the LPR cameras, this is used to capture the license plates of the vehicles that enter or leave a parking lot.

Go to Start>Parking Management>System Menu; as it’s shown in the following.

1. Click [Lane Management] to enter the lane management interface.
2. Click [Add] to add a new lane.

3. Select the lane, then enter the lane name and select the lane type.
Lane Type – Set to “Entry” or “Exit-Load” or “Exit-Free” as required.
4. Set the auto pass rule.
Linked Vehicles: The vehicles that are added to the allow list

Temporary Vehicles: The vehicles which are not added to the vehicle database
“Linked Vehicles” option is checked by default, these parking linked vehicles can automatically go into parking without stopping.
5. Link the ANPR camera and LED display to the rail.

6. Select the window, and then click [Apply]. Then the ANPR camera and LED display will link to this window as below.
Uncheck this window, and then click [Apply] to unlink the ANPR camera and LED display with the window.

Barrier Open Duration: For example, set to 15s. Then the barrier gate will close automatically after it is opened for 15s.

Set the rule for temporary vehicles

The charging rules include “Free”, “Charge for each exit”, “Charge for parking time” and “Custom Rules”. Configure the charging rules according to your needs.

After setting the charging rules, please click one of the charging rules on the above interface, and then the detailed information will be displayed on the right panel.
You can then select the temporary vehicle charging rule when you fill in the parking information.

Calendar Settings

Set the schedule of linked and temporary vehicles. If the vehicle in the vehicle group wants to enter the parking lot in its unscheduled period, it will not be allowed to enter. But vehicles can leave the parking lot at any time.

If you do not want to use the default time, you can click the [Add] button to set other times as needed.

Vehicle Administration

In the vehicle management interface, you can add or delete the vehicle group and add vehicles to the vehicle group. There are two default vehicle groups: the whitelist group and the blacklist group. These two default groups cannot be deleted. You can add other whitelist groups as needed.

Link vehicles to parking

Add a new vehicle group

After adding the vehicle information, please click this vehicle and then its detailed information will be displayed on the right. In this interface, you can renew your vehicle, including 1-month renewal, 3-month renewal, 6-month renewal and 12-month renewal.

Click to move the vehicle to another group.
If there are so many vehicles added in the current parking lot, you can view the desired vehicle information by filtering the license plate number, vehicle color, etc.

Introduction

The SW must be installed locally on your computer.

Tabs

Live Playback Setup

The SW has three main areas.

The Live tab for viewing live video
The Playback tab for viewing recorded video
The Setup tab for configuring views.

Panes

Panes give you access to the majority of the SW. Exactly which panes you will see depends on your task, for example on whether you are viewing live video on the Live tab or recorded video on the Playback tab.

Panes can be minimized to icons. This helps save space, and enables a better overview of the panes you use. You minimize a pane by clicking the ‘▲’ in the pane’s title bar. When you need to use a pane which you have previously minimized, simply click the corresponding icon in the top left corner of the SW.

View

The way in which video from your surveillance system’s cameras is displayed in the DMS Lite SW is called a view. A single view may contain video from up to 64 cameras. Your SW can handle an unlimited number of views, allowing you to switch between video from various collections of cameras. Each view’s layout can be customized to fit its contents.

Views can be private or shared with other users.

The SW also supports multiple windows and screens, allowing you to watch multiple views at a time on multi monitors

What can you Do with DMS Lite?

With the SW, you are able to:

View live videos from cameras on the surveillance system.
Play back recordings from cameras on the surveillance system with a selection of advanced navigation tools, including a highly intuitive timeline browser
Create and switch between an unlimited number of views, each able to display images from up to 64 cameras from multiple devices at a time Views can be placed in private groups (only accessible by the user who created them) or in groups shared with other users.

How Can User Rights Affect Your Use of DMS Lite

SW?

The rights of an individual user will determine the user’s ability to use the DMS Lite SW features.

Basically, the administrator is able to restrict a user’s rights to the following:

Access to each of the DMS Lite tabs: Live, Playback, and Setup
Ability to use features on the DMS Lite tabs
Ability to create views (views determine the way in which images from one or more

cameras are displayed)

Ability to view images from specific cameras

The ability to use various features of the DMS Lite SW may therefore vary considerably from user to user.

Installing the DMS Lite SW

The SW must be installed on your computer before you are able to use it.

Typically, you copy the executive file from the CD that is carried with device, and then install the file on your computer.

Installation from CD

To install the DMS Lite SW from a CD, do the following:

Verify that your computer meets the DMS Lite SW system requirements.
Insert the surveillance system software CD, wait for a short while, then click the DMS Lite installation icon.

Tip: Depending on your security settings, you may receive one or more security warnings when clicking the link (Do you want to run or save this file? Do you want to run this software? or similar; exact wording depends on your browser version). When this is the case, accept the security warnings (by clicking the Run button or similar; exact button names depend on your browser version).

When the installation wizard starts, click ‘Next’ to continue the installation and follow the

steps in the installation wizard.

The wizard will suggest an installation path. Normally, you can simply go ahead and use

the suggested installation path

Click ‘Next’ buttons and waiting progress of installation.
Complete.

Logging In to the DMS Lite SW

To log in to the SW, do the following:

Double-click DMS Lite shortcut on your desktop. If no DMS Lite desktop shortcut is available, select the DMS Lite from Windows’ Start menu (exactly how you do this is determined by where and how you have installed the DMS Lite on your computer, but you would typically select Start > All Programs > DMS Lite > DMS Lite).
A splash screen is displayed while the DMS Lite loads; this typically takes a few seconds only.

The SW login window appears:

After a short wait, the DMS Lite window will open. The DMS Lite window has three tabs:

Live, Playback and Setup.

The Live tab is used for viewing live video, the Playback tab is used for browsing recorded video on PC or each device remotely, and the Setup tab is used for configuring the DMS Lite SW. Depending on your user rights, you may not be able to access all three tabs.

Selecting Language

In the DMS Lite SW, you are often able to select between different language versions.

Click the Options button in the right side of the DMS Lite top bar.

In the Options dialog, select Language, then the required language.
The DMS Lite SW must be restarted in order for the change to take effect: Close your

SW, then log in again to use the new language version.

Views Explained

The way in which video from one or more cameras are displayed in the DMS Lite SW is called a view.

A view may contain video from up to 64 cameras, depending on the surveillance system to which you connect. The DMS Lite SW can handle an unlimited number of views, allowing you to switch between video from various collections of cameras.

The illustration to the right provides an example of a DMS Lite displaying a view, in this case with video from 10 different cameras (view is highlighted in red frame).

In order to help you maintain an easy overview when you navigate between various views in your DMS Lite SW, all views are placed in folders called groups. A group can contain any number of views and, if required, subgroups.

Difference between Private and Shared Views

Views can be private or shared:

Private views can only be accessed by the user who created them.
Shared views allow many users to share the same views.

Setup of Views

You create and manage views on the DMS Lite Setup tab.

Creating Private Views

Views are created on the DMS Lite Setup tab.

To create your first private view, you first create a group under the Setup tab’s Private top-level folder, then create the required view within the group.

Creating a Group

To create a group under the Private top-level folder, do the following on the Setup tab:

In the Setup tab’s Views pane, select the Private top-level folder.

Click the Create New Group button:

A new group is created. The new group is simply named New Group.

Overwrite the default name New Group with a group name of your choice.

You are now able to create a view within the group.

Creating a View within the Group

To create a view in a group, do the following:

In the Setup tab’s Views pane, make sure the group in which you want to create the view is selected.
Click the Create View button:

Select the required layout for your new view. You are able to select layouts for displaying up to 64 (8×8) cameras in a single view.
A new view is created under the group you selected. The new view carries the default name New View.

Overwrite the default name with a view name of your choice.

You are now able to add cameras to the view.

Tip: A group can contain an unlimited number of views. You may also create any number of subgroups if required.

Creating Shared Views

Views are created on the DMS Lite setup tab.

To create your first shared view, you first create a group under the required shared top-level folder, then create the required view within the group. If you have created shared views before, you may create the new view in an existing group, or you may create a new group for the view.

To create a group under a shared top-level folder, do the following on the Setup tab:

In the Setup tab’s Views pane, select the Shared top-level folder (in this example, the

required folder is simply called Shared).

Click the Create Group button:

A new group is created. The new group is simply named New Group.

Overwrite the default name New Group with a group name of your choice.

You are now able to create a view within the group.

Creating a View within the Group

To create a view in a group, do the following:

In the Setup tab’s Views pane, make sure the group in which you want to create the view is selected.

Click the Create New View button:

Renaming Views or Groups

To rename a view or group, do the following on the Setup tab:

Select the required view or group in the Views pane.
Click the Rename button:

Overwrite the existing group name with a new name of your choice.

Deleting Views or Groups

IMPORTANT: Deleting a group will delete all views and any subgroups within the group as well.

To delete a view or group, do the following on the Setup tab:

Select the required view or group in the Views pane.
Click the Delete button:

You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the selected view or group.

How to Add Content to Views

Once you have created views, you are able to add content to the views. Content can be video from individual cameras or devices, carousels for viewing images from alternating cameras in a single view position.

Adding Individual Cameras

To add a camera to a view, do the following:

In the Setup tab’s Views pane, select the required view. When you select a view, the layout of the selected view is outlined in the main section of the DMS Lite window.

In the Setup tab’s System Overview pane, click the plus sign(+) next to Cameras, then the

plus sign next to the required server to view a list of available cameras.

Select the required camera from the list, and drag the camera to the required position in the view. When you have dragged a camera to a position in the view, an image from the camera will—provided a connection can be established—appear in the selected position. If a connection cannot be established, for example if the surveillance system’s is not on recording mode, the name of the camera will be displayed in the selected position.
Repeat for each camera required in the view.

Tip: If you want to use all of the cameras under a server, you may simply drag the required server link to the view; this will automatically place all of the server’s cameras in the view from the selected position onwards. Make sure a sufficient number of positions are available in the view.

Tip: You can easily change which cameras are included in your view: clear an individual camera position by right clicking the remove button, then drag another camera to the cleared position, or simply overwrite a position by dragging a different camera to the position.

Adjusting View Properties

In the Setup tab’s view Properties pane, you are able to adjust osd and camera view.

Maintain Image Aspect Ratio

If the check box is selected, images will not be stretched to fit the size of the camera position. Rather, images will be displayed with the aspect ratio (height/width relationship) with which they have been recorded.

When viewing images with their original aspect ratio, you may see horizontal or vertical black bars appearing around the images from some cameras.

If the check box is cleared, images will be stretched to fit the position in the view; this may lead to slightly distorted images, but you will avoid any black bars appearing around the images.

OSD settings (All views)

Show title bar: Displays a title bar located in the top of each camera position. The title bar helps users quickly identify camera name, Recording Status and live indicator.

Show indicator: Displays a blinking green indicator in the title bar when displayed on the Live tab. The indicator changes state every time a new image is received from the camera, an effect which makes it easy to see that video is live. Often, it is evident from the video itself that it is live, but the live indicator can be advantageous at times when not much is happening in the camera’s area of view.

Show icon: Displays a camera icon in the top of each camera.

Show name: Displays a camera name in the top of each camera.

Show resolution: Displays the current image resolution at the bottom of each camera.

Show date and time: Displays the current date and time at the bottom of each camera.

Adding Carousels

A carousel is used for displaying images from several cameras, one after the other, in a single view position. You are able to specify which cameras to include in the carousel as well as the interval between camera changes.

On the setup tab, drag the System Overview pane’s Carousel to the required position in the view. When you release the mouse button over the required position, the Carousel Setup window opens.
In the Carousel Setup window, specify which cameras to include in the carousel by selecting required cameras in the left part of the window, then clicking the Add button to add the selected cameras to the list in the right part of the window.

If required, move cameras up and down in the list to determine the sequence in which

cameras will appear in the carousel.

Define the amount of time for which each camera should be displayed in the carousel;

either with a common default, or individually for each camera.

Click OK to close the Carousel Setup window.

Carousel indicator will be positioned at right bottoms at the selected channel.

Adding Static Images

Static images can be used in views for a variety of purposes: for company logos, for including floor plans or maps in the view, for including photos of wanted persons, etc.

On the setup tab, drag the System Overview pane’s Image item to the required position

in the view.

Release the mouse button over the required position. When you release the mouse button, you are able to select the required static image file.

Further Configuration

The Options Dialog

The Options dialog lets you control the language selection, position of navigator, timeline for playback and the path for snapshot & Backup.

You access the Options dialog by clicking the Options button in the top right corner of the Smart

Client window.

Language Options

In the DMS Lite SW, you are often able to select between different language versions.

In the Application Options dialog, select the Language tab, then the required language.
The SW must be restarted in order for the change to take effect: Close your SW, then log in again to use the new language version.

Application Options

The Options dialog’s Application tab lets you customize the general behavior and look of your

SW.

Information: display the version of DMS Lite SW.

Application minimization: If you select Minimized button the SW will be positioned on window task bar as icon.

Application maximization: Select how the SW should react when you click the Maximize button in the top right corner. If you select Maximize to full screen, the SW will cover any Windows task bar on your screen when maximized.

Quit: stop to run the DMS Lite SW.

Viewing Live Video

You view live video on the DMS Lite Live tab. When you select the DMS Lite Live tab, the SW will connect to the surveillance system server, and display live images from the cameras in the selected view.

Tip: The SW supports use of multiple windows. This is especially useful if your computer has more than one physical display attached.

Live Video Is Not Necessarily Recorded

Even though you can see live video from a given camera, the video stream from the camera is not necessarily being recorded.

This is actually one of the benefits of an IP-based digital surveillance system: Unlike old-style analog surveillance systems, where everything was usually recorded on a tape regardless whether it was relevant or not, an IP-based digital surveillance system allows much more targeted recording.

Targeted recording frees security personnel, investigators, etc. from having to go through seemingly endless amounts of recordings in order to find a particular incident. Instead, the reduced amount of recordings.

Basically, live video streams from cameras pass through the surveillance system server. When required, the video stream is saved (recorded) on the server; when not required, the video stream is simply discarded. Video streams are typically saved on the server (recorded) either

• According to a schedule (example: every morning from 10.00 to 11.30)

– and/or –

• Whenever the surveillance system detects special events (examples: motion generated by a person entering a room; a sensor registering that a window is being opened; input from users).

The surveillance system server’s recording settings are determined by your surveillance system administrator. However, as a DMS Lite SW user, you can also start recording while viewing live video.

Tip: When viewing live video on the DMS Lite Live tab, you can quickly verify whether the video stream from a camera is being recorded: Look at the yellow bar immediately above the camera’s images. If the video stream from the camera is being recorded, the bar will display Rec. Note that you may occasionally see the Recording letters for short periods only. This is because cameras may have been configured to record only when there is motion, when a door is open, or similar, which can lead to many short periods of recordings.

Views and their Content

Selecting a view

You are basically able to select a view for display on the Live tab as below.

Camera Names and Colored Indicators

The display item can be selected on ‘View Properties’ of Setup Pane.

The bar displays the name of the camera as well as the name of the device to which the camera

is connected.

Each bar will display Live when live images are displayed, Rec if video from the camera in question is being recorded.

Carousel Positions

A carousel is used for displaying images from several cameras, one after the other, in a single view position.

If a position in one of your views contains a carousel, you will be able to recognize it by the following characteristics:

It displays images from different cameras, one after the other
It is marked as Carousel at position

You can enlarge a carousel by double-clicking the carousel position.

Enlarging Camera Positions

To enlarge images from a particular camera in a view, double-click the camera position. To return to normal view, simply double-click the blue image bar again.

Recording for IP camera

You can record the data from the IP camera which is connected to DMS Lite SW.

Create the storage folder for recording.

To create folder for recording Storage.

Go to recording item on configuration pane of setup tab.
Select ‘Storage’ item.

Click ‘Browse’ button.

Select a folder or create new folder by explore.

Set volume size of the folder.

*Maximum volume size will be determined by free space of physical HDD drive.

Overwrite: overwrite the data from oldest recording data when the space is full.

Create Schedule profile

You can set recording parameter as Profile for recording.

Set Continuous recording profile.

To create profile for continuous recording

Click ‘Schedule’ item on Configuration pane.
Select Add Profile
Input profile name and select a color for profile. The color must be identified.

Select a camera from each device that is

Listening

To listen to live audio, select the required microphone from the Audio In list.

Audio when Camera is in Playback Mode

If the selected camera is in playback mode, you will hear any recorded audio from that camera’s default microphone and, if supported, speaker. The Live tab’s Audio pane will in that case have no function.

Digital Zoom

The right clicks of mouse lets you use digital zoom on images from any camera displayed in the view. Your use of digital zoom will not affect any recording of the images; any recording will still take place in the camera’s regular format. If you later wish to browse the recordings, you can use digital zoom with same action (mouse right click).

Digital Zoom Features

When digital zoom is enabled, you will see a Zoom ratio in the top right corner of each of the view’s camera positions. Once you zoom in on an area of an image, you can move the other area by simply dragging of mouse.

you are able to zoom in and out using the scroll wheel on your mouse, provided your mouse is equipped with a scroll wheel.

Using PTZ

Change the zoom ratio up to 10x by mouse wheel scroll.

If your views contain PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) cameras, you can control the PTZ cameras with the Live tab’s PTZ Control pane.

PTZ Navigation Buttons

Use the navigation buttons in the PTZ Control pane to move the selected PTZ camera.

The Arrow buttons let you move the position of camera view.

The item of ‘ZOOM’, ‘FOCUS’ and ‘Iris’ let user can control the item manually.

POSITION STEP is a distance during Pan/ Tilt works.

PTZ Preset Positions

You can set the preset of PTZ camera from PTZ control panel.

If preset positions have been defined for the selected PTZ camera already, you are able to select such positions.

To set preset.

Move the PTZ view point by navigator arrow.
Select any number for preset numbering.
Press [SET] button to save the position.

To run preset.

Select one of preset number on the list.
Press [Goto] button, PTZ camera view will move to predefined position.

Manually Activating Output

If external outputs have been defined on your surveillance system, for example for switching on lights or sounding a siren, such output can be activated from the DMS Lite Live tab.

Select the required output in the Alarm Out pane. Then click the Active button

Or user can deactivate the alarm out from the active state of Alarm out by [Inactive] button.

Viewing Recorded Video

You view recorded video on the DMS Lite Playback tab.

When you select the Playback tab, the SW will display recording time table and Playback control panel.

You can follow below steps to start playback.

Select a device from the recording time table.
Select a time for starting at Play control panel or select a start point from recording

Timeline Browser

The timeline browser displays an overview of periods with recordings from each devices displayed in your current view.

The number of timelines displayed in the timeline browser reflects the number of cameras of device. Cameras with an audio device attached are represented by a double timeline: a timeline displaying periods with video recordings and a timeline displaying periods with audio recordings. Up to 16 cameras can be displayed with audio timelines. If 16 cameras with associated audio are included in the view

To browse recordings using the timeline browser, click inside the timeline browser, and move your mouse right or left without releasing the mouse button or just click it

Time Navigation

The Playback tab’s Time Navigation pane provides you with controls for browsing and playing back recorded image from each device.

The Time Navigation pane’s brows buttons lets you manually navigate through recordings from the devices (DVR/ IP camera data on PC server).

What is the difference between optical and digital zoom?

With optical zoom, a camera’s lens elements physically move to provide the required angle of view. You cannot use optical zoom when viewing recorded video, simply because you cannot move the camera’s lens retroactively. With digital zoom, the required portion of an image is enlarged by cropping the image and then resizing it back to the pixel size of the original image—a process called interpolation. Digital zoom thus simulates optical zoom, but the digitally zoomed portion will have a lower quality than the original image. Digital zoom works equally well on live and recorded video.

Exporting Single Images

You are able to export single still images from selected cameras. Exported images can then be saved (as bitmap/Jpg/Png images) into PC, You can only export a single image from a single camera at a time.

To export:

Select the required view.
Right-click inside the required camera position; you now get access to the menu.
In the menu, select ‘snapshot’. You can now export the file as image.

Printing Evidence

In playback screen, you are able to print recorded images.

Select the required camera in the view.

Right-click inside the required camera position.

Exporting in AVI and Still

Select the DMS Lite Playback tab.

In the Playback tab’s Backup pane, specify when the period to be covered by the export should start. You do this by typing the required date in the first Start Time field and the time in the second field.

In the End Time fields, specify end date and time for the backup

Select the required camera from the camera list. You must select an individual camera from the list

Click the Backup button. This will open a separate Backup dialog; the dialog will list the specified start time, end time, and camera.

Only relevant if you are going to backup in AVI format: If the selected camera has a microphone attached—and the surveillance system supports audio—audio from speakers attached to the selected camera is included in the export as well. If you do not want to backup audio, select Video only option.

In the dialog’s backup setting pane, select the required backup format: AVI or still image.

Selected required Codec and quality for AVI format.

Select format of still image when you want to backup as still image.

Select OSD option for AVI and Still image, when you select this option the backup file includes this OSD text data also.

Specify export destination in the backup dialog’s Destination section.

Desktop: If you select Desktop, your backup file will be saved in an automatically Created Backup folder on the desktop of your PC.

Local Path: If you select local Path, you are able to specify a path yourself.

The backup file will be saved in the path you specify.

You can also select the path on network shared folder in company.

Media: If you select media, you are able to back up the file on DVD of PC.

Click the Start backup button to begin the backup procedure. The status bar in the upper part of the backup dialog will display the status of the backup:

Frequently Asked Questions about Exporting

FAQ: Can I export audio too? When backup in the AVI. you are—when the surveillance system supports audio—able to include audio recorded by microphones in the backup.. When backup in the JPEG format, you cannot include audio.

Full Screen Viewing

To view your DMS Lite in full screen mode, click the Full Screen button near the middle of the

DMS lite top bar.

In full screen mode, the SW is displayed without the top bar, without any of the panes normally located in the left side of the DMS Lite, and without any Windows taskbar.

Full screen mode is available when using the Live and Playback tabs, but not when using the Setup tab.

To leave full screen mode and return to normal mode, press ESC or select restore screen after right click of mouse..

Using Multiple Windows

The DMS Lite supports use of multiple windows. This is especially useful if your computer has more than one physical display attached.

You can send live views to separate displays from the DMS Lite’s View pane in Live tab.

Sending a View to Secondary Display

Sending a view to a Secondary Display will show the view in a full-screen window on another physical display (if available).

The other physical display will only show the selected view, none of the Live or Playback tab’s other features, and it can only show one view at a time.

To send a view to a Secondary Display, do the following:

In the Live or Playback tab’s Views pane, right- click the required view. This will bring up a menu.

Or select the multi monitor icon on Top bar.

Sending a channel to a Floating Window

Sending a channel to a Floating Window will show the camera in a small separate window on your main display.

The floating window will only show theselected camera. You can use any number of floating windows.

You are able to change the size of a floating window to suit your needs.

Install and login to P6SLite For Pc

Find the file in the software directory, double-click the EasyVMS installation file to install the client software, and the login dialog box will pop up, as shown below. The current page will be adapted according to the full Chinese and English systems.

Then click Run EasyVMS software and choose the language that suits you to log in to the system;

Local login user name default: admin, password default: empty; After logging in, select the software in the upper right corner to log out of the software;

Cloud account login, please enter APP P6SLite account, currently supports scanning code login and manual account input (manual input requires attention to the choice of server)

Interface Introduction

The main navigation buttons at the top of the interface are real-time preview, remote playback, electronic album, device management, system log, alarm information, plan recording, system settings, click the navigation button to enter the corresponding configuration interface. On the left side of the interface is the device navigation, on the right is the display area, and in the upper right corner are the help, logout, minimize, maximize, and close buttons. Start with device management and add devices.

Device Management

Click the Device Management button to enter the Device Management page, as shown in the following figure; On the device management page, you can perform manual adding, modifying, batch deleting, batch upgrading, APP cloud account management, region adding, as well as batch adding, batch modifying IP, and successfully added devices, right-click remote settings, time synchronization, clear alarms, display QR codes and other functions.

Zone configuration

For easy zone device management (the default zone is preferred when added by camera), you can right-click the default zone to customize the new zone, or click Add Zone below.

ADD P6SLite Camera

Click the refresh button in the lower right corner to search for the P6SLite camera

Select the IP address of the camera, then click “Batch Change IP” to modify the IP address of the camera.

If you don’t know how to modify the IP address, please check the “Refer to the computer network card to set the IP” software will automatically modify the IP address according to your network environment, of course, you can also manually modify the IP address.

The default user name of the device: admin, password: empty, click Confirm, save the modified IP address, and then click the refresh button again, search for the new IP address again, and then select the IP address and click Add in bulk.

Then click the real-time preview button to enter the preview interface

Double-click the IP address of the camera on the right, and the video will be automatically displayed in the surveillance screen on the right.

If you add multiple devices, you can select the Default Region context menu and select Turn on automatically, Open by region, Close preview by region.

Delete Camera

Select one or more devices to be deleted in the device list, click the Delete button, the system will prompt whether to confirm the deletion of the device, click the [OK] button, the device on the default zone list will be deleted.

Upgrade Camera

Local upgrade: Select the device you want to upgrade in the list of added devices, and then select Bulk upgrade. Be sure to restore the factory settings after the upgrade is successful.

Cloud Upgrade: Select the device to be upgraded in the list of added devices, and then select Cloud Upgrade (whether the device supports cloud upgrade), otherwise the Cloud Upgrade page will not be prompted

Enter the remote playback interface, select the channel that needs to be played back on the left device tree (Note: currently only supports one playback all the way), select the date on the calendar, click the “Search” button, the system starts to search for the recording in the hard disk recorder (or local hard disk), and display the search results in the search results panel. Time synchronization

In the Device Management > the Added Device interface, select the device and click the [Time Sync] button to synchronize the device time with the PC time.

System settings

Click System Settings to enter the local settings of the software.

You can set the EasyVMS software to automatically open at startup, check the button , and save. After saving, EasyVMS will automatically run after the next boot.
You can set the automatic calibration interval time of the device, check the button , and enter the interval time (such as: 120). After saving, each device will automatically calibrate every 120 minutes. It is recommended to calibrate every 30 minutes
You can set the local recording duration, select the recording duration input box, and enter the recording duration (for example: 30). Once saved, each recording is saved with an interval of 30 minutes. You can also set the recording format and select the recording format (e.g. PRV/AVI). After saving, the local recording format is . PRV. A dedicated PRV player can be downloaded on the official website
You can set the log retention period and directly select the recording duration (e.g. six months). Once saved, logs are retained for six months.
You can set the capture and video saving path, click to select the path, such as (G: EasyVMSImage/ G: EasyVMSVideo). After saving, the capture path is set to G: EasyVMSImage, the recording path is set to G: EasyVMSVideo.

Account management: Enter the system settings interface to manage local account login, including creating operator users, creating guest users, modifying user passwords, and deleting devices.

Click the “System Settings” button, click the “Account Management” button, click [Create], enter the new user name, password and user group (such as operator) to save, the user group will have one more new user “user1”.

Click the [Account Management] button, select the operator user user1, and click [Delete]. After deletion, the new user disappears.

Currently, there are three levels of user permissions:

Administrator: Administrator privileges, which can perform device management, user management, video monitoring, video playback, log query, switch users, and log out of the client.
Operator: Video monitoring, video playback, log viewing, user switching, password modification.
Guest: Video monitoring, switching users, password modification.

Real-time preview

Double-click the device name in the left device to open a preview of all channels of the device on the right preview interface, as shown below:

To turn off single-way preview, you can right-click “Close Preview” on the list that pops up the video channel to turn off the channel preview.

Electronic photo album

The electronic album is mainly used for the management of local channel capture and post-recording files, and users can search for viewing and deleting a series of operations according to different filter types.

Search by device, select any device, and search for local pictures and videos under that device.
Search by date, select a date (e.g. June 5) to search for local images and videos under that date.
Search by media type, select the image/video type (e.g. Video) to search all local video files.

1. Device management
  1. Device add

Before using the client software, you need to add and configure the device. Click the “Setting” button in the tab bar to enter the device management page.

[Add list tree]

♦ The software runs initially, the list tree is empty by default. Click the “Add Area” button to pop up the “Add Area” dialog box. Fill in the name in the area name field and click OK to add an area to the list tree. Because the area added this time is the first area, the area does not exist

Note: The list tree can add max 128 regions at present.

[Add device]

♦Search and add devices in LAN:

[Area] display area of the device

Fill in the required information and click the OK button to complete the device addition.

1. Image preview

After configuring the device, click the “Preview” tab in the tab bar to return to the monitoring main interface. The device tree is displayed as a list tree by default. Click “Group” and “List” on the device tree to switch between group and list information.

The display screen defaults to 4 screen division display, and supports maximum 36 screen divisions.

The maximum screen division is optional. There are three screen modes of 16/25/36.The higher the screen, the higher the performance of the host required. The 25 or 36 screen display is

recommended to use an i3 CPU or more and an independent graphics card.

Display screen description:

It indicates that there is no device connected to this channel. If connected, the OSD

information of the device will be displayed

Intercom status, when the icon changes to

indicate that the channel is intercoming,

otherwise the channel is not open intercom;

Monitoring status. When the icon changes to

You can control the 8 directions of the PTZ by using the direction keys; select the speed of the PTZ by dragging the slider. “-” indicates that the rotation speed of the PTZ is slower, and “+” indicates that the rotation speed of the PTZ is faster.

2.5.2. Preset setting

The client supports maximum 256 presets.

1. Recording management
  1. Plan record

Select “Settings”-“Recording Management”-“Enable Scheduled Recording” in the tab bar as shown above:

SUN to SAT represents a week, in days; 0 to 23 represents a day, in half an hour.

[Enable plan record] Select the channel, and click the left mouse button to drag a green block in the schedule table, as shown in the figure above; the range of the green block is the time period for starting the scheduled recording. After setting the time period, click Save.

[Close plan record] Tick to cancel the enable plan record and click Save; or cancel the green block in the schedule list and click Save. The method of cancel the green block: Just click the left mouse button on the green block and drag the mouse to cancel the green block.

Note: If the plan record time is the same for all devices, just set one device and click Copy and Save, then all devices enabled plan record.

[ Common record length ] The size of a single record file: the system sets the video length to 5 minutes by default. The length of a single video file can be set to 1-30 minutes. If you want to modify the video duration, please modify and save in the normal record length.

[ Alarm duration ] You can set the length of alarm recording, the default is 10 seconds, 5-60 seconds can be set.

[The remaining disk starts to reclaim space] The selectable range is 1G ~ 50G. When the disk space is less than the set range, start to skip to another disk for recording or delete the earliest day’s recording file (the default recovery is 20GB)

[Record type] 264/265 and AVI two record types. When the video type is 264, the playback tool must use the manufacturer’s player to playback the video.

[Full disk overwrite recording]Select “Yes”, when the space of all disks is less than the set disk space, delete the earliest recorded files. Select “No” to stop recording when the space of all drive letters on the disk is less than the set disk space

[Recording path]After the client is installed, the client software detects the hard disk of the machine automatically and displays it in the list. The default recording is to D drive.

Note: If the device is connected to high-definition, the resolution is the resolution of the main stream; if the device is connected to SD, the resolution is the resolution of the sub stream;

WDR: Check the box in front of WDR, it indicates that WDR is on. WDR level is 1-30 optional
Exposure mode: can set three modes: auto, indoor, outdoor. Default is auto mode.
Image priority mode: You can set priority of illumination and frame rate;
Infrared light control: can be set to auto, on, off. Select on is black and white mode; select

off is color mode.

Intelligent night vision mode: you can choose common night vision, full color night vision and intelligent night vision (requires camera support)
Intelligent tracking: only cameras with this function can be used

Stream type: main stream and secondary stream optional;

When the audio input is microphone input, the input volume and output volume are 80 and 95, respectively.

Motion detection

You can turn on and off the motion detection function: ticking in front of motion detection indicates that motion detection is enabled, and not ticking indicates that motion detection is not enabled;

Intelligent human shape recognition

The device that support human shape recognition can choose to enable or disable the human shape recognition function, and select the linkage mode, etc.

Installing the iCMS Pro SW

The SW must be installed on your computer before you are able to use it.

Typically, you copy the executive file from the CD that is carried with device, and then install the file on your computer.

Installation from CD

To install the iCMS Pro SW from a CD, do the following:

Verify that your computer meets the iCMS Pro SW system requirements.
Insert the surveillance system software CD, wait for a short while, then click the iCMS Pro

installation icon.

When the installation wizard starts, click ‘Next’ to continue the installation and follow the steps in the installation wizard.
The wizard will suggest an installation path. Normally, you can simply go ahead and use the suggested installation path
Click ‘Next’ buttons and waiting progress of installation.
Complete.

Logging In to the iCMS Pro SW

To log in to the SW, do the following:

Double-click iCMS Pro shortcut on your desktop. If no iCMS Pro desktop shortcut is available, select the iCMS Pro from Windows’ Start menu (exactly how you do this is determined by where and how you have installed the iCMS Pro on your computer, but you would typically select Start > All Programs > iCMS Pro > iCMS Pro).
A splash screen is displayed while the iCMS Pro loads; this typically takes a few seconds only.

3. The SW login window appears:

After a short wait, the iCMS Pro window will open. The iCMS Pro window has three tabs: Live, Playback and Setup.

The Live tab is used for viewing live video, the Playback tab is used for browsing recorded video on PC or each device remotely, and the Setup tab is used for configuring the iCMS Pro SW. Depending on your user rights, you may not be able to access all three tabs.

Selecting Language

In the iCMS Pro SW, you are often able to select between different language versions.

Click the Options button in the right side of the iCMS Pro top bar.

In the Options dialog, select Language, then the required language.
The iCMS Pro SW must be restarted in order for the change to take effect: Close your

SW, then log in again to use the new language version.

Views Explained

The way in which video from one or more cameras are displayed in the iCMS Pro SW is called a view.

A view may contain video from up to 64 cameras, depending on the surveillance system to which you connect. The iCMS Pro SW can handle an unlimited number of views, allowing you to switch between video from various collections of cameras.

The illustration to the right provides an example of a iCMS Pro displaying a view, in this case with video from 10 different cameras (view is highlighted in red frame).

In order to help you maintain an easy overview when you navigate between various views in your iCMS Pro SW, all views are placed in folders called groups. A group can contain any number of views and, if required, subgroups.

Difference between Private and Shared Views

Views can be private or shared:

Private views can only be accessed by the user who created them.
Shared views allow many users to share the same views.

You create and manage views on the iCMS Pro Setup tab.

Creating Private Views

Views are created on the iCMS Pro Setup tab.

To create your first private view, you first create a group under the Setup tab’s Private top-level folder, then create the required view within the group.

IMPORTANT: Deleting a group will delete all views and any subgroups within the group as well.

To delete a view or group, do the following on the Setup tab:

Click the Delete button:

You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the selected view or group.

How to Add Content to Views

Adding Individual Cameras

To add a camera to a view, do the following:

In the Setup tab’s Views pane, select the required view. When you select a view, the layout of the selected view is outlined in the main section of the iCMS Pro window.

In the Setup tab’s System Overview pane, click the plus sign(+) next to Cameras, then the

plus sign next to the required server to view a list of available cameras.

Select the required camera from the list, and drag the camera to the required position in the view. When you have dragged a camera to a position in the view, an image from the camera will—provided a connection can be established—appear in the selected position. If a connection cannot be established, for example if the surveillance system’s is not on recording mode, the name of the camera will be displayed in the selected position.
Repeat for each camera required in the view.

Adjusting View Properties

In the Setup tab’s view Properties pane, you are able to adjust osd and camera view.

Maintain Image Aspect Ratio

If the check box is selected, images will not be stretched to fit the size of the camera position.

Rather, images will be displayed with the aspect ratio (height/width relationship) with which they have been recorded.

When viewing images with their original aspect ratio, you may see horizontal or vertical black bars appearing around the images from some cameras.

If the check box is cleared, images will be stretched to fit the position in the view; this may lead to slightly distorted images, but you will avoid any black bars appearing around the images.

OSD settings (All views)

Show title bar: Displays a title bar located in the top of each camera position. The title bar helpsusers quickly identify camera name, Recording Status and live indicator.

Show icon: Displays a camera icon in the top of each camera.

Show name: Displays a camera name in the top of each camera.

Show resolution: Displays the current image resolution at the bottom of each camera.

Show date and time: Displays the current date and time at the bottom of each camera.

Adding Carousels

On the setup tab, drag the System Overview pane’s Carousel to the required position in the view. When you release the mouse button over the required position, the Carousel Setup window opens.
In the Carousel Setup window, specify which cameras to include in the carousel by selecting required cameras in the left part of the window, then clicking the Add button to add the selected cameras to the list in the right part of the window.

If required, move cameras up and down in the list to determine the sequence in which

cameras will appear in the carousel.

Define the amount of time for which each camera should be displayed in the carousel;

either with a common default, or individually for each camera.

Click OK to close the Carousel Setup window.

Carousel indicator will be positioned at right bottoms at the selected channel.

Adding Static Images

Static images can be used in views for a variety of purposes: for company logos, for including floor plans or maps in the view, for including photos of wanted persons, etc.

On the setup tab, drag the System Overview pane’s Image item to the required position in the view.

Release the mouse button over the required position. When you release the mouse button, you are able to select the required static image file.

Further Configuration

The Options Dialog

The Options dialog lets you control the language selection, position of navigator, timeline for playback and the path for snapshot & Backup.

You access the Options dialog by clicking the Options button in the top right corner of the Smart Client window.

Language Options

In the iCMS Pro SW, you are often able to select between different language versions.

In the Application Options dialog, select the Language tab, then the required language.
The SW must be restarted in order for the change to take effect: Close your SW, then log in again to use the new language version.

Application Options

The Options dialog’s Application tab lets you customize the general behavior and look of your

SW.

Information: display the version of iCMS Pro SW.

Application minimization: If you select Minimized button the SW will be positioned on window task bar as icon.

Quit: stop to run the iCMS Pro SW.

Viewing Live Video

You view live video on the iCMS Pro Live tab. When you select the iCMS Pro Live tab, the SW will connect to the surveillance system server, and display live images from the cameras in the selected view.

Tip: The SW supports use of multiple windows. This is especially useful if your computer has more than one physical display attached.

Live Video Is Not Necessarily Recorded

Even though you can see live video from a given camera, the video stream from the camera is not necessarily being recorded.

• According to a schedule (example: every morning from 10.00 to 11.30)

– or/and –

• Whenever the surveillance system detects special events (examples: motion generated by a person entering a room; a sensor registering that a window is being opened; input from users).

The surveillance system server’s recording settings are determined by your surveillance system administrator. However, as a iCMS Pro SW user, you can also start recording while viewing live video.

Tip: When viewing live video on the iCMS Pro Live tab, you can quickly verify whether the video stream from a camera is being recorded: Look at the yellow bar immediately above the camera’s images. If the video stream from the camera is being recorded, the bar will display Rec. Note that you may occasionally see the Recording letters for short periods only. This is because cameras may have been configured to record only when there is motion, when a door is open, or similar, which can lead to many short periods of recordings.

Selecting a view

You are basically able to select a view for display on the Live tab as below.

You can (provided you have the necessary user rights) start recording while viewing live video. See page 61 for more information.

Camera Names and Colored Indicators

The display item can be selected on ‘View Properties’ of Setup Pane.

The bar displays the name of the camera as well as the name of the device to which the camera is connected.

Each bar will display Live when live images are displayed, Rec if video from the camera in question is being recorded.

Carousel Positions

A carousel is used for displaying images from several cameras, one after the other, in a single view position.

If a position in one of your views contains a carousel, you will be able to recognize it by the following characteristics:

It displays images from different cameras, one after the other
It is marked as Carousel at position

You can enlarge a carousel by double-clicking the carousel position.

Enlarging Camera Positions

To enlarge images from a particular camera in a view, double-click the camera position. To return to normal view, simply double-click the blue image bar again.

Handling Sound Notifications

Your SW may have been configured to notify you with a sound notification when:

Events related to one or more specific cameras occur

Audio (Microphones)

The SW supports incoming audio: From the SW you can listen to live recordings from microphones attached to cameras.

You handle audio in the Live tab’s Audio pane.

To listen to live audio, select the required microphone from the Audio In list.

Using PTZ

If your views contain PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) cameras, you can control the PTZ cameras with the Live tab’s PTZ Control pane.

PTZ Navigation Buttons

Use the navigation buttons in the PTZ Control pane to move the selected PTZ camera.

The Arrow buttons let you move the position of camera view.

The item of ‘ZOOM’, ‘FOCUS’ and ‘Iris’ let user can control the item manually.

POSITION STEP is a distance during Pan/ Tilt works.

PTZ Preset Positions

You can set the preset of PTZ camera from PTZ control panel.

If preset positions have been defined for the selected PTZ camera already, you are able to select such positions.

To set preset.

Move the PTZ view point by navigator arrow.
Select any number for preset numbering.
Press [SET] button to save the position.

To run preset.

Select one of preset number on the list.
Press [Goto] button, PTZ camera view will move to predefined position.

Manually Activating Output

If external outputs have been defined on your surveillance system, for example for switching on lights or sounding a siren, such output can be activated from the iCMS Pro Live tab.

Select the required output in the Alarm Out pane. Then click the Active button

Or user can deactivate the alarm out from the active state of Alarm out by [Inactive] button.

Viewing Recorded Video

You view recorded video on the iCMS Pro Playback tab.

When you select the Playback tab, the SW will display recording time table and Playback control panel.

You can follow below steps to start playback.

1. Select a Playback Tab.

Select a device from the recording time table.
Select a time for starting at Play control panel or select a start point from recording table.

*The time line can be expanded up to 5 minute term when left click of mouse on time label. Right click of the mouse will compress the time line.

Timeline Browser

The timeline browser displays an overview of periods with recordings from each devices displayed in your current view.

Frequently Asked Questions about Exporting

Full Screen Viewing

To view your iCMS Pro in full screen mode, click the Full Screen button near the middle of the

iCMS top bar.

In full screen mode, the SW is displayed without the top bar, without any of the panes normally located in the left side of the iCMS Pro, and without any Windows taskbar.

Full screen mode is available when using the Live and Playback tabs, but not when using the Setup tab.

To leave full screen mode and return to normal mode, press ESC or select restore screen after right click of mouse..

Using Multiple Windows

The iCMS Pro supports use of multiple windows. This is especially useful if your computer has more than one physical display attached.

You can send live views to separate displays from the iCMS Pro’s View pane in Live tab.

Sending a View to Secondary Display

Sending a view to a Secondary Display will show the view in a full-screen window on another physical display (if available).

The other physical display will only show the selected view, none of the Live or Playback tab’s other features, and it can only show one view at a time.

To send a view to a Secondary Display, do the following:

In the Live or Playback tab’s Views pane, right-click the required view. This will bring up a menu.

Or select the multi monitor icon on Top bar.

In the menu, select Multi Monitor > Display2. If more than one secondary display is

available, they will be numbered.

Sending a channel to a Floating Window

Sending a channel to a Floating Window will show the camera in a small separate window on your main display.

The illustration to the right provides an example of a channel sent to a floating window. Note that the main iCMS Pro window is immediately available behind the floating window.

The floating window will only show the selected camera. You can use any number of floating windows.

You are able to change the size of a floating window to suit your needs.

To send a channel to a Floating Window, do the following:

In the Views pane, right-click the required channel. This will bring

up a menu.

In the menu, select Float View.

Put the equipment in a place with good ventilation.

The HD DVR system includes HDD, which produces large amount of heat during operation. As a result, do not block the ventilation openings(on the top, bottom, both sides and the reverse side) for cooling the system during operation. Install or put the equipment in the place with good ventilation.

The attached power adapter can only be used for 1 set of HD DVR.

Do not connect more equipment, or HD DVR may be restarted repeatedly because of insufficient power.

Prevent the equipment from water dropping or splashing.

Do not place objects containing water, such as flower vase, on the equipment.

HD DVR Connection
1. Hard Disk Installation

Before installing Hard Disk (HDD), please make sure the power is disconnected with the HD DVR. Each capacity of Hard Disk please refer to HD DVR’s specifications. HD DVR without Hard Disk still support monitoring, but no recording or playback. If you correctly install the Hard Disk, the HDD indicator will blink regularly when the HD DVR is on work.

Please use attached power adapter to connect HD DVR. Before power on, make sure the cables on the audio I/O ports and network port are well connected.

Getting Started
1. Start Up and Shut Down

Proper startup and shutdown procedures are crucial to expanding the life of the HD DVR, please check that the voltage of the extra power supply is the same with the HD DVR’s requirement, and the ground connection is working properly.

Starting up the HD DVR

Plug the power supply and turn on the power supply switch(if there is one). Power supply indicator blinking indicates turning on the video recorder. After the startup you will hear a beep. The default setting of video output is multiple-window output mode. If the startup time is within the recording schedule time, the timing video recording function will start up automatically. Then the recording indicator of corresponding channel will be blinking and the HD DVR is working normally. When operate a username and password is needed, the default username is “admin” and the password is 1234567u.

Shutting down the HD DVR

Click right of the mouse on the live view interface and choose “Main Menu>Shutdown”, then click ok button, shown as figure 3-1.

1. Using the Startup Wizard

By default, the Startup Wizard starts once the HD DVR has loaded, as shown in Figure 3-2.

Operating the Startup Wizard:

The Startup Wizard can walk you through some important settings of the HD DVR. If you don’t want to use the Startup Wizard at that moment, click the exit button. You can also choose to use the Startup Wizard next time by leaving the “enable” checkbox checked.
Click Next Step button to enter the general settings window, as shown in figure 3-3.

After the general settings, click Next Step button which takes you back to the record control Setup Wizard window, as shown in figure 3-4.

After the record control settings, click Next Step button which takes you to the HDD

Manage Setup Wizard window, as shown in figure 3-5.

Click Next button. You enter the Network Setup Wizard window, as shown in figure 3-6.

Click Next button after you configured the network parameters, you enter the cloud

service Setup Wizard window, as shown in figure 3-7.

Click finished button to complete the startup Setup Wizard.
1. Login and logout

• User Login

If HD DVR has logged out, you must login the device before operating the menu and other functions.

Steps:

Select the User Name in the dropdown list.
Input Password.
Click OK to log in.

Note:

> In the Login dialog box, if you enter the wrong password 7 times, the current user account will blockedfor 60 seconds and you will hear a beep consist about 5s.

• User Logout

After logging out, the monitor turns to the live view mode and if you want to perform any operations, you need to enter user name and password log in again.

Steps:

1. Enter the Shutdown menu. Go to Main Menu > Shutdown

2. Select logout and click ok button.

Note:

> After you have logged out the system, menu operation on the screen is invalid. It is required to input a user name and password to unlock the system.

1. Live View
  1. Introduction of Live View

Live view shows you the video image getting from each camera in real time. The HD DVR automatically enters Live View mode when powered on, as shown in figure 4-2.

On live view screen, click on the channel ” + “Button to enter the channel management interface HD DVR Automatically search for network segment IPC , And then select the IPC Click Add to.

Note:

> The transmission signals of IP camera to HD DVR is main stream under single or four screen s live view, and it is extra stream under multi- screen live view.

• Live View Icons

In the live view mode, there are icons at the upper-left of the screen for each channel, showing the status of the record and alarm in the channel, so that you can know whether the channel is recorded, or whether there are alarm source as soon as possible.

4.2.2 Operations in Live View Mode

In live view mode, there are many functions provided. The functions are listed below.

Single Screen: showing only one screen on the monitor.
Multi-screen: showing multiple screens on the monitor simultaneously.
Tour: the screen is auto switched to the next one. And you must set the dwell time for each screen on the configuration menu before enabling the tour.
Start Recording: continuous record and motion detection record are supported.
Add IP Camera: the shortcut to the IP camera management interface.
Playback: playback the recorded videos for current day.
- 1. Quick Setting Toolbar in Live View Mod

On the screen of each channel, there is a quick setting toolbar which shows when you move the arrow of mouse to the top of image.

- 1. Desktop shortcut menu

In preview mode you can right click mouse to access the desktop shortcut menu, as shown in gure 4-4.

Main menu: The main menu includes playback, setting, maintain, backup and shutdown.
Password retrieval: Modify administrator password or Reset password by e-mail.
Automatic channel config: When you right click mouse and choose Auto Channel Config, it means that HD DVR will auto add the IP cameras which in the same LAN.
IP channel: It is a shortcut access to IP channel interface.
Channel Status: It is a shortcut access to channel status interface.
Playback: It is a shortcut access to video playback interface.
Quick Record: You can check current channel status: “o” means it is not selected, “•” Means it is selected.

Schedule	Record according to the configuration.
Manual	Click the button and the according channel will record immediately regardless of the current state.

PTZ control: Operation interface is as shown in figure4-6. The functions include: PTZ direction control, speed, zoom, focus, iris, setup operation, patrol between spots, pattern, border, tour.

Coaxial control: Operation interface is as shown in figure4-7. You can operate the OSD menu through this way, be noted that the HD camera must support coaxial control.

Color setting: it is a shortcut to settings ->Channel management ->Image color settings window.
Outputs adjust: it is a shortcut access to settings ->System settings ->Output control interfaces.
Mute: The speaker mute switch, Icon means speaker turns on, icon □

means

speaker turns off.

Version: It’s a shortcut access to the System version.
Logout: Shutdown, restart system, logout menu user and switch user, as shown in

figure 4-8.

• Screen switch: Preview in single screen/four screens/eight screens /nine screens /sixteen screens according to your choice.

4.3 Settings

4.3.1 System

4.3.1.1General setting

Click on the “setting -> System -> General “into the general interface, as shown in Figure 4-9.

• Language: English, Simplified Chinese,Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Turkish, Polski, Arabic, Cesky.

• Time zone: Select your corresponding time zone here.

• System time: Set the system data and time.

• Date format: Choose the data format: YMD, MDY, DMY.

• Time format: Choose list separator of the data format: dot, beeline and solidus.

• Time Format: Choose time format: 24-hour or 12-hour.

• DST: Choose the summer time option and pop the dialog box as followed.

Auto Logout: Set the latency time in 0-60. 0 means no latency time.
Startup Wizard: The startup wizard can guide you to finish some important settings of

the AHD DVR. You can also choose to skip this step.

Device No.: When you are using one remote control to control several HD DVRs, you can give a number to each HD DVR as address for your management.
Host Name: HD DVR’s name
Smart Display: it will display smart alarm line or area after you enable this function
- - 1. Display Setting

Click on the “settings -> System ->Display” into the display setting interface, as shown in Figure 4-10. In this pare you can adjust video output parameters.

- - 1. Tour setting

Click on the “settings -> System ->Tour” into the tour setting interface. As shown in Figure 4-11.

Interval: Interval time setting, the range of values is from 5s to 120s.

4.3.1.4 Account

Click on “Setting -> System ->Account” into the account interface, as shown in figure 4-12. There are two default accounts in the HD DVR: admin/guest, admin’s default password is 1234567u while the other is empty. The account of admin is an administrator, it has the permission to add and delete any user and configure user parameters

Note :

The character length of name is 64 bits at most for the following users and users’ group. Legal characters include: letter and number, other characters are forbidden.
The user management includes: group/ user. One user should belong to one group.
Add Group: Add a user group and set the permission. There are 73 different permissions: control panel, real time surveillance, playback, recording setup, video file backup and so on.

Add user: Add a user in the group and set the user permission. Enter the menu

interface and input the user name and password. Choose the group and choose whether

using “Reuseable” function, this function allows multiple users use the same account to

permission is lower than the advanced user.

• Modify Group: Modify the existing groups’ attribute, as shown in figure 4-15.

• Modify password: You can set password among 1-64 bytes, legal characters include letter and number, other characters are not forbidden, as shown in figure 4-17.

Note:

> The user who possesses the user control permission can modify his/her own or other user’s password.

4.3.1.5 Restart

Click on “Setting -> System ->Restart” into the graphical interface, as shown in figure 4-18.The user can set the auto reboot time to maintain the device.

4.3.2 Network

Before the HD DVR connects to the Network, you need to configure the related settings of Network. In this chapter, we can set the basic network configuration, WIFI, 3G/4G, P2P, DDNS, UPNP, Email, FTP, NTP, Access control, etc.

- - 1. Base

Click on “Setting -> Network -> Base” into the network base settings interface, as shown in figure 4-19. This page you can set the device IP Address, gateway, DNS As well as view MAC Address.

DHCP: Obtain IP address automatically.
IP Address: Set the IP address of HD DVR. Default is 192.168.1.9
Subnet Mask: Default is 255.255.255.0.
Gateway: Default is 192.168.1.1.
MAC: the physical address of HD DVR.
DNS setup: Domain Name Server, it translates the domain name into IP address, it contain primary DNS and secondary DNS.
Internal IP: Set the beginning of IP addresses of those IP Cameras connected to POE panel. Default is 192.168.3.10. Make sure that this value should not be at the same subnet with the IP address of HD DVR.
Max Users: The maximum number of users can simultaneously access the HD DVR. Default value is 10.
HS Download: Download at a high speed on the network side.
Transfer Mode: There are three modes: Quality preferred, Fluency preferred and Adaptive. The code stream will adjust itself according to the setting, adaptive is the tradeoff between the image quality preferred and fluency preferred, fluency preferred and adaptive are valid only when the sub-stream is turned on, otherwise, quality preferred is valid.

Note:

> You can’t set internal IP address if the HD DVR is not support POE function.

4.3.2.2 WIFI

Click on “Setting -> Network ->WIFI” Into the WIFI setting interface. This interface will display the search to WIFI Name, signal strength and encryption. You need to prepare a WIFI and connect to the USB connector of the HD DVR.

Enable: WIFI Enabling switch
DHCP: Automatically obtain the IP Addresses and gateways.

4.3.2.3 3G/4G

Click on click on “Setting -> Network ->3G “Into the graphical interface. This page can be set 3G Function, Status, 3G Signal types, and Access point, Dial- number, User Name, Password, and 3G IP Addresses. You need to prepare a 3G/4G network Data Card and connect to the USB connector of the HD DVR. The User name and Password need to be supplied by your ISP.

4.3.2.4 P2P

HD DVR can be connected to Cloud service and users can visit the HD DVR by its Cloud ID through Cellphone APP or the website www.elevatep2p.com.

Click on “Setting -> Network ->P2P “Into the graphical interface. This page shows the iPhone or Android APP download links, and the cloud ID Identification code.

Status: Display P2P status.
Cloud ID: P2P Identification number.
IE Web: The P2P web address.

You can visit HD DVR by entering www.elevatep2p.com in the Web Browser of your computer, and click the option By Device, fill in the blank with the serial code Cloud ID, and Username, Password of HD DVR.

- - 1. DDNS

DDNS is a service that can be used to automatically update DNS records if client PCs get their IP settings from a DHCP Server. If DDNS function is enabled on HD DVR, you can access the HD DVR by domain name provided by Internet Service Provider (ISP) provider.

Prior registration with your ISP is required before configuring the system to use DDNS.

Click on “Setting -> Network ->DDNS “Into the graphical interface.

Enable: DDNS enabling switch.
DDNS Type: ISP of DDNS, including Oray DDNS, CN99 DDNS, DynDNS DDNS, NO-IP DDNS. This option can be customized according to the requirement of users.
Domain name: Fill in the domain name provided by ISP. Maximum 63 characters can be filled in.
User name/Password: Fill in the username and password input corresponds to the domain name.
- - 1. UPNP

UPnP is a networking standard that uses protocols on the Internet to allow electronic devices connected to a network to detect and identify each other.

Click on “Setting -> Network ->UPNP “Into the graphical interface. This page can set up Media Port, HTTP Port and Handset Port. Check UPNP Is enabled, the external port can automatically obtain and use.

- - 1. Email

The system can be configured to send an Email notification to all designated users if an alarm event is detected, etc.; an alarm or motion event is detected.

The network must be connected to the Internet in order to connect to the Email SMTP server.

Click on the “settings -> Network ->E-mail” into the graphical interface.

Enable: Enable the Email service.
SMTP Server: The SMTP Server IP address or host name.
SMTP Port: The SMTP port. The default TCP/IP port used for SMTP is 25.
Open SSL: Click the checkbox to enable SSL if required by the SMTP server.
User Name/Password: The username and password of the sender email accounts.
Sender: Displayed by the recipient of the message sender email address.
Title: The title displayed in the email.
Receiver: The Email address of user to be notified (3 receivers at most).

After finishing the setting, you can click the button MailTest to try to verify the email service is available, and click the button Apply to activate the configuration.

- - 1. FTP

You can upload the record file onto a FTP server by configuring the FTP settings. It allows you to upload the record file by the record type and record time.

Click on the “Setting -> Network ->FTP “Into the graphical interface.

FTP setting: divided into video FTP and pictures FTP ,you can set up your server IP, port, user name, password, directory, file length, and there are the Anonymous option, and FTP Setting whether the testing successful.
Channel setting: you can select the channel to transmit, set up on weekday, as well as the time period.

After finishing the setting, you can click the button FTP Test to try to verify the FTP service is available, and Copy To button is used to copy the configuration of current channel to other channels. Click the button Apply to activate the configuration.

- - 1. NTP

A Network Time Protocol (NTP) Server can be configured on your HD DVR to ensure the accuracy of system date/time.

Click on the “Setting -> Network ->NTP “Into the graphical interface. This page can be set NTP server IP, server port, update schedule.

Enable: Enable the NTP service.
Server IP: The NTP Server IP address or host name.
Port: Port of NTP server.
Update Schedule: Time interval between the two synchronizing actions with NTP server. The unit is minute.

Click the button Save to save the configuration.

Note:

> The time synchronization interval can be set from 1 to 65535min, and the default value is 10 min. If the HD DVR is connected to a public network, you should use a NTP server that has a time synchronization function, such as the server at the National Time Center.

4.3.2.10 Access

In this chapter by setting the IP address to be blocked and trusted, you can block specific IP address or allow some trusted IP.

Click on the “Setting -> Network -> Access “into the graphical interface.

• Blocked Sites: The IP Addresses which are added to blocked sites are not allowed to login HD DVR.

• Trusted Sites: Only the IP Addresses which are added to trusted sites are allowed to login HD DVR.

You can add IP or delete IP by clicking Add IP and Delete IP buttons. After the operation is finished, click the Save button.

- - 1. Cloud Storage

In this chapter, you can set the Cloud Storage to upload your videos and picture recorded by your cameras.

Click on the “Setting -> Network ->Cloud Storage “into the graphical interface.

• Upload directory: The directory in your cloud storage where the videos and pictures to be saved, if not set, the video file will be saved at the root directory directly.

• File length: The space spared to save videos and pictures, the default number is ‘0’, which means the space will save the whole video and picture file as much as the original video file.

• Chanel: Choose which channel to upload video or picture.

• Upload type: Choose picture or video to be uploaded, and choose the type of the file, the type can be ‘Normal’ or ‘Event’.

- - 1. SNMP

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an Internet-standard protocol for collecting and organizing information about managed devices on IP networks and for modifying that information to change device behavior.

Click on the “Set -> Network ->SNMP “into the SNMP configuration interface. There are 3 versions in SNMP. V1/V2 are shown in figure 4-30.

V1/V2 is basic encryption method, V3 is advanced one with more complicated encryption, as shown in figure 4-31.

4.3.2.13 Multicast

In computer networking, multicast (one-to-many or many-to-many distribution) is group communication where information is addressed to a group of destination computers simultaneously.

Click on the “Set -> Network ->SNMP “into the SNMP configuration interface, set the Multicast IP and Multicast port within the required range. If different source devices want to apply the multicast, the multicast IP should be DIFFERENT. In the last, enable the function and apply. As shown in figure 4-32.

4.3.3 Alarm

The HD DVR supports video detection alarm, including motion detection, masking detection, video lost detection. And also exception warnings such as HDD error, no writable disk, disk no space, network disconnection or IP conflicted.

Note:

> Video detection should be supported by the IP Camera, so please refer the User Manual of IP Camera to confirm the video detection types. If the IP Camera does not support some types of the video detection, the configuration on the HD DVR would be unable to activate.

- - 1. Motion Detection

Motion detection is to detect the movement of the channel. If any movement appears in the surveillance area, the HD DVR will detect it and respond according to the settings.

Click on the “Setting -> Alarm -> Motion” into the setting interface.

Channel: Select the channel.
Enable: Motion detection-enabled switch.
Schedule: Set the time slot of motion detection. Here it supports 6 time slots at most. You can copy the setting to other days: click Copy, and select another weekday, click Paste to have it configured as the former one. Click Default to clear all the settings. (as shown in figure 4-31)

• Interval: Set the time interval of each motion detection triggered.

• Trigger process: Set the handling action of motion detection, including alarm output, alarm delay, show massage, buzzer, send Email, record channels and record delay, PTZ act, tour and Snapshot. (as shown in figure 4-35). Maximum 4 channels can be chosen when you select the Snapshot.

Sensitivity: Set Sensitivity of motion detection, range from 1 to 6.

You need to select the surveillance area on the screen, by click and drag the mouse, or you can click the button Select All to select all the surveillance area, or click the button Clear to reset the button:

In this section UVR support different types of analyses when connect Qualvision IPC by private protocol. But only Line Crossing and Area Intrusion can be used in analogy channels after user enable the smart channel setting in part 4.3.5.1.3;

Note:

> The sum of the smart analyze may differ from different UVR product Line, but the principle is same;

> we need IPC support corresponding smat analyses function from Qualvision.

- - - 1. Line Crossing

Crossing detection is used to detect the object crossing the set virtual line. The direction can be set as bidirectional, or from side A to B, or from side B to A. If there’s object move from one side to another, it will trigger the alarm and the NVR will respond those actions as configured, such as record, show message, send email, etc.

Click on the “setting -> Alarm -> Intelligent detection -> Line Crossing” into the graphical interface.

Interval: Set the time interval of each crossing detection triggered.

You can add virtual line to the surveillance area like following steps:

Choose the line number, the maximum number of the line is 4.
Select the direction: A<->B, A->B, B->A.

A<->B: Only the arrow on the B side shows; when an object going across the configured line with both direction can be detected and alarms are triggered.

A->B: Only the object crossing the configured line from the A side to the B side can be detected.

B->A: Only the object crossing the configured line from the B side to the A side can be detected.

Adjust the sensitivity. Range from 1-100.The higher the value is, the more easily the detection alarm can be triggered.
Click the Apply button to save the settings.

After all the settings finished, click the button Apply to activate all the settings.

4.3.3.2.2 Area Intrusion

Area Intrusion detection function detects people, vehicle or other objects which enter in a pre-defined virtual region from outside, and some certain actions can be taken when the alarm is triggered.

Click on the “Setting -> Alarm -> Intelligent detection -> Area Intrusion “into the graphical interface.

Interval: Set the time interval of each intrusion detection triggered.

You can add virtual area to the surveillance area like following steps:

Choose the area number, the maximum number of the area is 4.
Set detect time threshold. For example, if you set the time threshold is 5 seconds and

someone intrude your area about 3 seconds alarm cannot be triggered.

Adjust the sensitivity. Range from 1-100. The higher the value is, the more easily the detection alarm can be triggered.
Percent. Range from 1-100. For example, if you set the percent is 50, alarm will be triggered only when the area be intruded more than half.
Click the Apply button to save the settings.

4.3.3.2.3 Region Entrance

Region Entrance function detects people, vehicle or other objects which enter in a forbidden pre-defined virtual region from outside, and some certain actions can be taken when the alarm is triggered.

Click on the “Setting-> Alarm->Intelligent detection -> Region Entrance” into the graphical interface.

Region Exiting function detects people, vehicle or other objects which exit a forbidden pre-defined virtual region from inside, and some certain actions can be taken when the alarm is triggered.

Click on the “Setting -> Alarm -> Intelligent detection -> Region Exiting “into the graphical interface.

Fast Moving function detects people, vehicle and some other objects that move with forbidden speed, and some certain actions can be taken when the alarm is triggered.

Click on the “Setting -> Alarm -> Intelligent detection -> Fast Moving “into the graphical interface.

Alarm input device is a kind of device which can detect the surveillance area by some sensors such as infrared sensor or temperature sensor, and when the environment is been changed, the sensor will detect information and alter the status.

Name: Set the name of the Alarm input device.
Type: Normal Open/Normal Close. It means the system support those external sensor alarms which have two statuses: Open and Close. When the status switches from Open -> Close, or from Close->Open, alarm will be triggered.
Enable: Alarm in enabled switch.
Schedule: Set time slot to detect video loss.
Interval: Set the time interval of each Alarm in triggered.
Trigger process: Set the handling action of alarm in detection; please take the setting of chapter 4.3.3.1 motion detection for reference.

Alarm output device is a kind of device which can output warning signal such as sound or light, to remind the user that there’s alarm are triggered.

Name: Set the name of the Alarm output device.
Type: Three types: Schedule/Manual/Stop. Schedule means the alarm output device will be activated when the NVR detects the alarm. Manual means the alarm output device will be activated after choosing the Manual and press the button Apply. Stop means the alarm output device is not on-guard.

After all the settings finished, click the button Apply to activate all the settings. You can also click Copy to to copy the setting to another port shown as Figure 4-47.

- - 1. Abnormality

Exception settings refer to the handling action of various exceptions, including No writable disk, Disk error, Disk no space, Network Disconnection, IP Conflicted.

Click on the “Settings -> Alarm-> Exception “into the graphical interface.

No writable disk: If all HDD are set to only read, this exception will be triggered. It supports these methods to remind the user about the exception: Show Message, Buzzer, Send Email and Alarm Out.
Disk Error: If writing HDD error or DHH is unformatted, this exception will be triggered. It supports these methods to remind the user about the exception: Show Message and Buzzer.
Disk No Space: You can set minimum percentage of hard disk space. The handling actions of this exception are Show Message, Buzzer, Send Email and Alarm Out.
Network Disconnection: If network is disconnected, this exception will be triggered. It supports these methods to remind the user about the exception: Show Message, Buzzer and Alarm out.
IP Conflicted: Contain If IP conflict with other device at the same network, exception will be triggered. It supports these methods to remind the user about the exception: Show Message, Buzzer and Alarm out.
S.M.A.R.T: This exception is about HDD health detection. It will be triggered when the HDD of device have some problems and not work under good condition. It supports these methods to remind the user about the exception: Show Message and Buzzer.

After all the settings finished, click the button Apply to activate all the settings.

4.3.4 Record

In this chapter we can make the schedule for the record by configuring the related parameters, and before these operations, please make sure that the HDD has already been installed and formatted. If not, please install the HDD and initialize it. For detailed information, please refer to chapter: Maintain->HDD management.

Click on the “Setting ->Record ->Schedule” into the graphical interface.

On this schedule setting screen, we can set the record schedule for specific channels.

• Channel: Select the channel to configure

• Sub stream: To record as both main stream and sub stream.

• Pre-Record: The time to be pre-record on the created videos. Range from 0-30 seconds. Maximum 30s pre-record can be supported for each channel.

• Redundancy: The record will be backed up in redundant HDD, if there is redundant HDD device installed in the system. Please check the chapter 4.4.3 for the details.

Note:

> If there are several channels to be set with pre-record function, the pre-record time will be less than 30 seconds (the maximum value), because pre-record function will consume the system resources and it will adjust the time length to support many channels at the same time.

You can click the button Edit to enter the edit screen and set the schedule of the record.

Week Day: The day to set the schedule, from Sunday to Saturday.
Schedule 1-6: The time slot for the record, you can set 6 time slots during one day.
Norm.: The type of the record, record as normal video.
MD: The type of the record, record as motion detection video.
Alarm: The type of the record, record as alarm video.

You can check the All to select all the week day and set the schedule at the same time, or check several of them. If Norm, MD and Alarm are checked at the same time, it will record as a priority like: Alarm > MD > Norm. That means if the three type of detection occurred at the same time, the type of the record will be set as Alarm video.

You can also edit the schedule on the configuration graph screen, as shown in Figure 4-42.

By selecting the checkbox on the right we can edit the corresponding bar on the left. For example, if we check the MD, and edit the corresponding bar, we will be able to edit the yellow part of the bar.
By clicking the icon eraser^ J , we can clear the setting of the bar at once.

After all the settings finished, click the button Apply to activate all the settings.

You can copy the current channel setting to other channels by clicking the button Copy To. As shown in Figure 4-43.

By clicking the button Default, you can reset all the settings.

4.3.5 Channel

In this chapter you can do channel management. You can set channel type and protocols for each HD camera channel; also you can add the IP Cameras into the corresponding channel. Set encode, adjust the parameters of the Cameras, and set the OSD menu, privacy masking and PTZ functions. Before adding the IP Cameras to HD DVR corresponding channels, please make sure that the IP Cameras and HD DVR are in the same network, and IP Cameras are in active status.

- - 1. Channel type

Click on the “Setting -> Channel ->Channel type” into the graphical interface. Where you can set the channel type and set the protocol for each HD camera. Without click “OK” button to confirm it won’t work when you change the channel type.

- - - 1. Channel set

Click on the “Setting -> Channel ->Channel type->channel set”. You can set the camera type for

turn to□. And

each channel, shown as figure 4-44, when the channel is configured, thel I will the protocol for each channel can be detected automatically and be displayed in the channel interface.

Click on the “Setting -> Channel ->Channel type->protocol set”. You can set the protocol for each HD channel, shown as figure 4-45, the HD DVR support AHD, TVI, CVI, CVBS.

Here user can enable the smart channel function in channel type. Then in intelligent detection, there are two smart function types: Line Crossing & Area intrusion. User can enable them with any brand analog cameras and any video signal format. Please refer to Part 4.3.3 Alarm.

> When the setting of smart channel changed, the device will restart to take the settings into

effect.

- - 1. IP Channel

Click on the “Setting -> Channel ->IP channel” into the graphical interface. This page also shows the information of real-time network bandwidth usage.

The list above shows the channel name for each channel, IP Address, connection protocols, connection status, and includes:

Delete: Delete the IPC highlighted. Also you can click the icon ^3 to delete the IP

camera.

Clear All: Clear all the connected IPCs.
Encode: Settings for the connected IPC fast encode settings. As shown in figure 4-47.

Edit: Click the iconu , and enter the screen of Edit. Select channel, enter the user

name and password of the IP Camera, select the time sync type, connection protocol type, modify or add IP address, port number. As shown in figure 4-49.

Preview: Click the iconL3, and you can see a preview of the connected channel IPC.

Upgrade: Click the icon □, and upgrade IPC connected. As shown in figure 4-50.

After all the settings finished, click the button Apply to activate all the settings.

- - - 1. IPC Searching

This list shows the device name, type of agreement, IP Address, port number and access networks of all IP cameras that have found in the same subnet.

Search: Scope search contains private agreements, ONVIF Protocol search and comprehensive search of both types of agreements. Click to search all of the devices under the same network segment. You can click the protocol drop box and select the corresponding protocol. Please refer to the Figure 4-51.

Add: Device is selected click on the muscle can increase to the Edit bar and automatic connection.
Quick Set: Click the button to add all IPCs to the digital channels automatically according to the found IP cameras list.
Automatic IP: This operation will automatically allocate your network IPC(QVUII) IP address.

Note:

> We highly recommend you create a strong password of your own choosing in order to enhance the security of the IP Camera. And we suggest that you change your password regularly. Reset your password monthly or weekly can improve the security level of the system and protect the information security.

4.3.5.3 Encode

By configuring the encode parameters you can define the parameters which affect the image quality, such as the Compression type, Resolution, Frame Rate, Bit Rate Type, Quality, etc. The HD DVR support Dual Stream Encode, we can set the main stream encode and sub stream encode on this screen.

Click on the “Setting -> Channel -> Encode” into the graphical interface.

• Complexity level: Base Line/Main Profile/High Profile

Video/Audio: To encode the Video and Audio in the record files. The video in mainstream is always enabled.
H.264+: Enable smart encode technology, all the record file can reduce the HDD space

maximum 80%-90% in static view.

After all the setting finished, click the button Apply to activate the configuration.

You can copy the configuration of selected channels to the one which you would like to apply the same configuration. By clicking Copy To button, select the channels and save the setting. Please refer to Figure 4-53 Copy To.

4.3.5.4 Color Setting

HD cameras and IP Cameras support image adjustment such as Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue and Sharpness. Some high-end IP Cameras support advanced Settings such as Day/Night setting, Exposure, NR, WDR, Defog, etc. In this chapter you can configure the IP Camera to improve the image and make a better view experience.

Click on the “Settings -> Channel ->Color “into the graphical interface.

• Channel: Select the channel to configure.

• Image Mode: The image mode for specific period of the configuration, there are Auto/Manual for options. Auto mode keeps the image settings for 24h, and Manual mode supports 2 period settings (Day period & Night period). You can set independent image settings for different period.

• Start-End: Set the image mode as Manual, then enter the starting time and ending time for Day period or Night period

You can adjust the IP Camera parameters on this screen, if the IP Camera compatible with the HD DVR.

4.3.5.5 OSD

You can configure the OSD (On-screen Display) settings for the camera, including Channel Name, Date/Time format, Record status, Alarm status, etc.

There are two parts for the setting: Channel Set and General Set. For Channel Set, you can configure the following items:

• Channel: Select the channel to configure.

• Channel Name: The name of the channel to be set.

• Show Name, Show Time: Enable the information of channel name and time on the screen.

• Date Format, Time Format: Set the format of the date and time.

For the General Set you can configure the following items:

• Time Title, Channel Title: Enable/disable the display of the time tile and channel title on the monitor screen.

• Record Status, Alarm Status: Enable/disable the display of the record status and alarm status on the screen.

After all the setting finished, click the button Apply to activate the configuration.

4.3.5.6 Cover

You are allowed to configure the four-sided privacy mask zones that cannot be viewed by the operator. The privacy mask can prevent certain surveillance areas to be viewed or recorded.

Click on the “Settings -> Channel ->Cover “Into the graphical interface.

Channel: Select the channel to configure.
Enable: Check the box to enable the feature.

Use the mouse to draw a zone on the window. The zones will be marked with different frame colors. Up to 4 privacy masks zones can be configured and the size of each area can be adjusted. The configured privacy mask zones on the window can be cleared by clicking the corresponding Clear Region button with different colors on the bottom side of the preview window, or click Clear All Region to clear all regions. Please refer to Figure 4-57.

After all the setting finished, click the button Apply to activate the configuration.

4.3.5.7 PTZ

This chapter is to show you how to set the actions which you want the PTZ Camera to respond when corresponding alarm occurred. Please make sure that the presets, patrols and patterns should be supported by PTZ protocols.

• Preset: This feature enables the camera to point to a specified position such as a

window when an event takes place. You can set up to 255 preset points. You can go to

preset by UTC control in PTZ.

• Patrol: Patrols can be set to move the PTZ to different key points and have it stay there

for a set duration before moving on to the next key point. The key points are corresponding to the presets. You can set up 4 cruise lines, each cruise line includes preset points and the time stayed in the preset point and cruising speed. Please refer to Figure 4-72.

Pattern: Patterns can be set by recording the movement of the PTZ. You can call the pattern to make the PTZ movement according to the predefined path.

Status: Shows the state of HDD, “Unformatted” or “normal” or “no disk”.

Type: Shows HDD connection type.
Total: Size of the HDD total capacity.
Free: Shows HDD remaining capacity size.
Group: Shows which group the HDD belonged.
Uninstall: Uninstall HDD.
Add: Add the HDD from uninstall state.
Format: Format the HDD manually.
HDD: You can set the full strategy of hard disk, “stop” or “overwrite”.
Auto-Delete Old Files: Support two mode of strategy, “never” and “Custom”. In the “Custom” mode you can set auto-delete time from 1-30 days before.
Sleep: Open this function, your HDD will smart sleep when it not be used.
Apply: Make sure all the operations effect.

4.4.3.2 Advanced

This page you can switch the hard disk’s storage mode, including the “group”, “quotas (Capacity)”, and “Quota (Time)”. Change the storage mode requires that you restart the HD DVR device.

i. Group: You can set 16 groups under group mode, and each channel is independent of

each group. If the channel do not belong to any group, none video file will saved, and if the channel belong to more than one group, the channel will used the space of these group one by one until all the group are full.

Note:

> Apply a new storage mode need restart the HD DVR device.

ii. Quota (Capacity): The quota of capacity mode support set disk space for every channel

manually.

• Record used: Shows the video files space that the channel you chosen has used in real-time.

• Picture used: Shows the pictures space that the channel you chose have used in real-time.

• Volumes: Total capacity of all hard drives.

• Record Quota: You can manually set the quota size of channel video.

• Picture quota: You can manually set the quota size of channel picture.

• Free volumes: Shows the free space minus the space you have set on other channels.

iii. Quota (Time): The quota of time mode supports set time for every channel manually.

Record used: Shows the video files space that the channel you chose has used in

real-time.

Volumes: Total capacity of all hard drives.
Record Quota (Day): Set a time for a channel from 0-60 days, and the new video files

will not cover the old files in the time period.

> We provide two type of self-test, brief and extended. Extended type will be taking a little

longer time than brief type. And you can stop while it’s been self-testing if you want.

4.4.4 Config

4.4.4.1 Backup

Click on the “Maintain –>Config ->Backup” into the graphical interface.

On this page you can backup device parameters into USB flash disk.

Detect: Detect the USB device.
Name (type): File name and file type, and the backup file is “.coi” type.
ATTR: Shows the file type.
Export: Export the parameters backup file into USB disk.
Import: Choose the backup file and click import button, your device parameters will

change into the new one.

4.4.4.2 Default

Click on the “Maintain –>Config ->Default “enter the graphic interface.

On this page you can choose the function item, General/Channel Name/Record/Network/Motion Detect/PTZ/ Abnormality /Encode/Display/Channel type/IP channel/Image Setting, and after click execute button, the item what you chosen restore defaults. And you can also select the “select all” button, all the items will be selected. When the operation finish a hint will be displayed at the interface shown as figure 4-84. You can also click Restore factory settings button to restore all settings to factory.

Note:

> UVR will restart when you choose restore factory settings automatically.

4.4.5 Log

Click on the “Maintain –> Log “into the graphical interface.

You can check device operation log on this page.

Type: Search type include “System”, “Config”, “Storage”, “Alarm”, “Record”, “Account”, ”Clear”, ”Playback”.
Start time/End time: Set the period of time you want to search.
Search: After you set the time period and search type, click the search button, and device can save 4096 logs tops.
Prev/Next: It can shows 1000 logs in one page, and you can check on more by click “Prev/Next” button.
Clear: Delete all log information.
Filter: On this page you can chose whether cover the log when it’s full, and decide which type operation log you want to save.
Detect: Detect the USB device.
Export: Export the operations log into the USB flash disk.

4.5 Backup

Click the backup button, enter the backup interface.

Detect: Detect the USB flash disk device you have access to the HD DVR.
Format: Format the USB device.

4.5.1 General

- - 1. Video backup

Click on “Backup ->General -> Video” into the graphical interface.

How to backup the record:

Chose the record channel;
Chose the video file type, including “All Record”, “Event Record”, “Timing Record”, “Manual Record” four types. And DAV/AVI two file formats.
Set the time period you want check, and click on the search button. And search results column shows on the middle area. On this area you should chose the serial number of the backup file you need.
Check on the “Require/Remain” bar, make sure the required space smaller than your USB device. And click start button to start backup.

Note:

> The file status marked red as search result shows is the file you locked in the playback interface. In case the file that you’re interesting covered by new files.

4.5.1.2 Picture backup

Click on “Backup ->General ->Picture” into the graphical interface.

The operations of backup pictures is the same as videos, please refer to the previous part.

4.5.2 Event

Click on “Backup -> Event-> Video “into the graphical interface.

This page you can check the event video, and there are three event types, include “Alarm input”, “Motion detect”, ”IA Detect”. And “IA Detect” contains two sub types “Crossing detect” and “Area intrusion detect”.

Set search time period, and channels you’re interesting.
Click on the button of search. And search results shows on the middle area. On this area you should chose the serial number of the backup file you need. And DAV/AVI two file formats.
Check on the “Require/Remain” bar, make sure the required space smaller than your USB device. And click start button to start backup.

4.5.3 Smart Search

In this GUI you can search all the face detection information for convenience backup. First you should select a channel or all the channels, second specify the start time and end time, then click search button, Face detection results can be shown as below;

Then you can select the video section or picture you want to backup them to your flash disk by USB.

4.6 Playback

Right click and select the “Record Playback” to enter the playback interface and you can also click on the playback button in the main menu to enter the playback interface, as shown in the figure-76.

> The HD DVR device supports five types of playback.

- 1. Normal play

The default playback mode is “Normal playback”. And when you select the channels the date will turn into blue on the date area that means the channels you selected have files in that day. And you can select the date you want to playback on the date area.

This HD DVR device support 16 channels playback. And 6 channels playback in real-time the other 10 channels playback in key frame.

All the operations of these buttons to control the playback, you can refer to the previous table. And the “Cut” button will cut all the files of the channels you’re playing, you can check the files you cut in the “File Manage”.

The “Lock Record” button will lock the file in case this file be covered by new file. You can check and backup the locked files in “File Manage”. And you can unlock the locked files in this interface.

Click the “Default Label” button will mark the video as a default label, you can edit the label and check in the “File Manage”.

The “Main/Sub stream” button can change the video stream into sub stream from main stream, the “Speed up” button can speed up 32 times the channel you selected and speed up 16 channels 2 times top.

- 1. Event play

Select the “Event Play” enters the event playback mode.

You need chose the event main type, including three event types “Alarm input”,

“Motion detect” and “IA Detect”. And the main type of “IA Detect” including two sub types event “Crossing detect” and “Area intrusion detect”.

Select the channels you want to search. Then set time period, and click search button. Search results as shown in the figure, “Source” means alarm channel and “Chan” means record channel of linkage operations, “Time” means when the alarm happened.
The next area shows all the alarm items and you can change the page to find the alarm item you want. And then you can set the play time period before/after of the alarm

time.

You can change the alarm types and channels by click the return button back to the last interface.

As for the operations of these buttons you can refer to the previous table. But you can’t use the “Sync/Async”, “Main/Sub stream”, “Frame Control” button in event playback mode.

- 1. Label Play

Select the “Label Play” enters the label playback mode.

Select the channels, and set the time period of search.
Click the search button, search results as shown in the figure.
“Label” means label’s name that you can edit in file manage and “Chan” means the channel you tagged, “Time” means the time that was playing when you tag.
The next area shows all the labels and you can change the page to find the label items you want. And then you can set the play time period before/after of the label time.
You can change the search channels by click the return button back to the last interface.
As for the operations of these buttons you can refer to the previous table. But you can’t use the “Sync/Async”, “Main/Sub stream”, “Frame Control” button in label playback mode.

> The operations of these buttons you can refer to the last part.

- 1. Smart Play

Select “Smart Play” enters this playback mode. In this section UVR support analyze exist video according to specific rules. Now the rules include “line accrossing, Area Intrusion, Motion Detection and Face Detection”.

1. First you need select a channel and click “Paly”, then the icon of “Draw Line” can be active. You can click to draw a line on the video interface;

2. Click “Setting” button you can specify some setting for playback like “Skip NonFocus Video” and specify the playback speed for NonConcerned-Video and Attention-Video, also you can specify the time before and after the events from 0 to 600 seconds.

3. Click “Search” button then the result will be shown like figure 4-87, video with line accrossing will be marked color “green”, and the video will be played by the setting as you made at step 2.

- - 1. Draw Quadrilateral

First you need select a channel and click “Paly”, then the icon of “Draw Quadrilateral” can be active. You can click to draw a quadrilateral on the video interface;
Click “Setting” button you can specify some setting for playback like “Skip NonFocus Video” and specify the playback speed for NonConcerned-Video and Attention-Video, also you can specify the time before and after the events from 0 to 600 seconds.
Click “Search” button then the result will be shown like figure 4-88, video with Area Intrusion will be marked color “green”, and the video will be played by the setting as you made at step 2.

First you need select a channel and click “Paly”, then the icon of “MotionDraw Retangle” can be active. You can click it to draw an area on the video interface;
Click “Setting” button you can specify some setting for playback like “Skip NonFocus Video” and specify the playback speed for NonConcerned-Video and Attention-Video, also you can specify the time before and after the events from 0 to 600 seconds.
Click “Search” button then the result will be shown like figure 4-89, video with Motion will be marked color “green”, and the video will be played by the setting as you made at step 2.

1. First you need select a channel and click “Paly”, then the icon of “MotionFullScreen” can be active. You can click it to draw an area on the full video interface;

3. Click “Search” button then the result will be shown like figure 4-90, video with Motion will be marked color “green”, and the video will be played by the setting as you made at step 2.

- - 1. Face search

1. First you need select a channel and click “Paly”, then the icon of “Face search” can be active. The full video interface will be detected by default;

3. Click “Search” button then the result will be shown like figure 4-90, video with people’s

face will be marked color “green”, and the video will be played by the setting as you made at step 2.

Note:

Face Detection only work with Qualvision 6 series UVR.
Face Detection only work with Qualvision IPCs which support this feature.
- - 1. Clear all

When you click this button that means clear all the lines and rectangles you have drawn before.

Then you can draw new lines and specify new rules.

- 1. Time Division play

Select the “Time Division Play” enters the time division playback mode.

4. First you need chose the channel and select division windows number to display, from 1-16 windows. For example, if you chose the windows number is 4, the files of the date you chose will be divided into 4 parts.

5. You can change the playing channel but do not need to stop. And change the windows division number when the channel is playing.

As for the operations of these buttons you can refer to the previous table.

4.6.6 Normal Play (Picture)

1. Select the “Normal Play (Picture)” enters the normal playback of pictures mode.

2. Select the channels, the search result as shown in the figure. As for the button of control playback including “File Manage”, ”Sync/Async”, “Start/Pause”, “Backward play”, ”Stop Playing”, “Slow down”, ”Speed up”, and “Time-line Stretch”, “Time-line Shorten”.

The sources of pictures you play are manual snap on preview interface and the manual snap in playback interface.

Note:

You can stop playback by right click, and exit the playback interface by keep right click.
If you chose more than one channels to playback, double click can make the channel shows in one screen.

4.7 Shutdown

Click Shutdown, as shown in the figure.

• Shutdown: Exit system, and then shut down device.

• Restart: Exit system, then restart device.

• Log out: Password is needed to re-enter the menu after logout.

• Switch user: Switch the user and use another account to login.

Chapter 5 WEB Application
Manager

1. Plug-in download and installation

Open your web browser and input the IP address of HD DVR, such as http://192.168.L9 (the default IP address), if your IP address has been changed, you can use the new IP address, and press the Enter key to enter the login interface.
If it is the first time to login, it will notice you to install the plug-in, you can find it either in CD or download from web site.
1. Web Application Manager Login
After plug-in installation, please input the user name and password (The default username is admin and the password is 1234567u), and select language in the interface, shown as figure 5-2.
Click on login button to go to web preview interface.
If you enable the “Save Password”, your password and user name will be remembered the next time you login.

1. Preview

After you login successfully, you will enter the preview interface, as show in figure 5-3.

1. Playback

Click the playback button to enter playback interface, show as figure 5-5.

It supports 4 channels playback at the same time, it displays the intraday videos of 1/2/3/4 channel by default. On this page, you can select the any channel and date you want, and then

click the Search button, it will display the results of your research.

2. Click the switch button to anther interface, show as in figure 5-6.

Set the start time and end time of the videos you want to see, click the Search button, and then it will display the matched results. Each video will display its start time and its type, and all the videos in the same channel will display in chronological order.

3. Click the More buttons, you will turn to the interface of setting more parameters, as

show in figure 5-7.

In this interface, you can set the more detail parameters such as start time, end time, channel, stream type, the type of records, and click the Search button, and then all matched records will be listed below. Check the record file you want to download and click the Download button. System will download the record file in sequence and save to PC. After downloading finishes, the check box of “Download Completed!” will be pop-up.

5.5 Alarm

Click the alarm button to enter the alarm setting interface, shown as in the figure 5-8.

After checking Listen Alarm box, and select the alarm type below, when the device trigger the corresponding alarm, it will display an alarm message to notify you. And link operation will be active.

Message: Auto jump to this page when alarm triggered.
Local captures: Auto-grab screenshots of alarm channel.
Open the video: Opens the channel automatically which trigger the alarm.
Play alarm sound: Play sound when alarm triggered.

5.6 Config

- 1. Local Set

Click “Config -> Local Set” to enter the interface, as shown in the figure 5-9.

Note:

> The IPC must support the function, or even if HD DVR enable the function of Dynamic

Tracking ,it will not make effect.

- 1. Maintain
    1. VerInfo

Click “Config ->Maintain ->VerInfo ” to enter the interface, as shown in the figure 5-10.

It displays the MAC address of HD DVR, channel numbers, the number of audio input and output, the number of alarm input and output, system version, the release date of software version.

5.6.2.2 Log

Click “Config ->Maintain ->Log ” to enter the interface, as shown in the figure 5-11.

Set the log search conditions to refine your search, including the Start Time, End Time and Type.
Click the Search button to start search log files, the matched log files will be displayed on the list shown below

Backup: Back up all log files to the local PC.
Clear: Clear all log files.
Filter: You can select the filter items to save the log files, the max number of logs is 4096, when the number of log is beyond 4096, “log full coverage “or “stop” are for choice.
Prev / Next: Up to 900 log files can be displayed each time ,when the number of the matched logs beyond 900, you can click on Prev/ Next button to view more log files.

5.6.3 Setting

5.6.3.1 General

Click “Config ->Setting ->General” to enter the interface, as shown in the figure 5-12.

Configure the following settings, and then click Save button to save the settings.

• Time Zone: Select the time zone

• System Time: Select the system date and time.

• Date Format: Select the date format

• Time Format: Select the date format

• Language: There are Simplified Chinese, English, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Turkish,

Persian, and Arabic.

• HDD full: Overwrite and Stop are for choice.

• Device No.: The default number is 8 ,if it is modified to any other number ,remote control will not make effect to the HD DVR.

• Host Name: Set the name of HD DVR.

• SyncPC: The time zone and the system time can synchronize your local PC.

• Smart Display: Click the Smart Display check box, the pre-defined virtual line and pre-defined virtual region will display in the preview channels.

- - 1. Encode

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Encode ” to enter the interface ,as shown in figure 5-13.

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Display ” to enter the interface, show as figure 5-14.

You can click the check box of time title, channel title, alarm state and record state to enable these function, if time title and channel title are set as enabled, they will appear on the screen of current HD DVR system. You can modify the parameters of top/bottom/left/right to adjust TV display.

5.6.3.4 Record

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Display ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-15.

The parameters should be consistent with HD DVR local setting .Green stands for normal record, yellow stands for motion detection ,red stands for I/O trigger record .

• Channel: set record type for each channel ,mainstream and substream are for choice.

Pre-record: Set the pre-record time for each channel.
Record Control: Three kinds of video control such as schedule, manual and stop.

•

How to configure Record Schedule:

You can choose the day to which you want to set schedule, click the set button on the right.
The default is to schedule an all-day recording, to arrange other schedule, set the Start/End time for each period.
Select the record type on the right hand side
Click Ok to save all the settings.
Repeat the above edit schedule steps to schedule recording for other days in the week. If the schedule can also be applied to other days, click the day you want to configure the same schedule, and click OK.

Note:

Up to 8 periods can be configured for each day. And the time periods can’t be overlapped each other.

5.6.3.5 Network

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-16.

HD DVR support Static/DHCP/PPPOE/3G/Wifi modes. System default network type is static. User can set these parameters as required ,including IP Address, MAC, Sub Net Mask, Gateway ,DNS ,Secondary DNS, Internal IP, Max Users, Media Port, HTTP port, Handset Port.

HS Download: Enable the function, you can download video faster.
Transfer Mode : You can choose a different network policies, quality preferred, fluency preferred and adaptive are for choice

5.6.3.5.1 E-mail

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->Email ” to enter the interface, as shown in the figure 5-17.

Before you configure these parameters, you have to click enable button .Then set the relevant parameters ,including SMTP server, port, username, password, the email address of sender and receiver .Click Save to save all the settings, Click MaiTest button to confirm whether the setting is effective.

SMTP Server: The SMTP Server IP address or host name (e.g.smtp.263.net).
Port: The SMTP port. The default TCP/IP port for SMTP is 25.

5.6.3.5.2 FTP

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->FTP ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-18.

How to configure the FTP:

Choose the type of FTP
Click the enable check box
Configure the FTP Server, port username, password , directory and file length
Click save button to save all the settings
Click FTP Test button to confirm whether the setting is effective.
Set the schedule for each channel
Click OK to save all the settings.

Note:

> Up to 2 periods can be configured for each channel. And the time periods can’t be overlapped each other.

5.6.3.5.3 NTP

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->NTP ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-19.

A Network Time Protocol (NTP) Server can be configured on your HD DVR to ensure the accuracy of system date/time.

1. Check the Enable checkbox to enable this feature.

2. Configure the parameters, including ServerIP, Port and Update Time.

3. Click Save button to save all the settings.

5.6.3.5.4 Cloud

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->Cloud ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-20.

5.6.3.5.5 DDNS/UPNP

• DDNS

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->DDNS ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-21.

Click on the Enable to enable the function of DDNS.
Select DDNS Type: four types are selectable, such as Oray DDNS, CN99 DDNS, DynDNS DDNS,

NOIP DDNS.

3. Set the Domain Name, User Name and Password .

4. Click Save to save the settings.

• UPNP

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->UPNP ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-22.

Note:

• To ensure this function can be used normally, please make sure the router UPNP function has been enabled.

- - - 1. Access control

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->Access control ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-23. Select the type of restricted list, Blocked Sites and Trusted Sites are selectable. Input the IP

Address manually, click Add IP button on the right, click save button to save the settings. If you want to delete the IP you have set before, left-click an IP address from the IP Blocked list /IP

Allowed and click Delete IP, shown as Figure 5-23.

- - - 1. Cloud Storage

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Network->Cloud Storage ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-24.

You can set the Cloud Storage to upload your videos and picture recorded by your cameras.

5.6.3.6 Image Setting

Click “ Config ->Setting ->Image Setting ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-25.

Select a channel and then set the relevant parameters ,when all the parameters have been configured ,
Click Save button to save your configuration.
IF you want to configure the same parameters to another channel ,click the Copy button and select any channel you want ,
Click OK button to save.

5.6.3.7 Configuration

Click “ Config ->Setting ^Configuration ” to enter the interface, as show in figure 5-26.

1. Click on the checkbox of those item you want to restore, and click the Default button ,then all the configurations of the selected item will restore to the default value.

2. Click Export button to export all the configurations of the network camera in a .coi file.

3. Click Import button to import all the configurations of the network camera from a .coi file.

Note:

> If Network has been choose in the list, the IP address is also restored to the default IP address, please be careful for this action.

5.6.3.8 Channel Management

- - - 1. Channel Type

Click Config->Setting-> Channel Management->Channel Type. You can set each channel’s type and it’s protocol for AHD cameras, shown as Figure 5-27.

- - - 1. Channel Config

Click Config->Setting-> Channel Management->Channel Config. You can search the IPC in the Internet and set their parameters, including IP address, port, username/password, protocol, syn channel time switch and connection type. As show in figure 5-28.

- - - 1. Channel Status

Click Config->Setting-> Channel Management->Channel Status. On this page you can check the channel name, channel connection status and alarm status, including Motion Detect, Video Shelter and Video Lost. As show in figure 5-29.

- 1. Alarm
    1. Motion Detect

Click the Config->Alarm->Motion Detect. As show in figure 5-30.

The feature is similar to the local alarm of HD DVR. Event types are composed of motion detection, video loss and video shielding.

Taking motion detection for example to illustrate:

Region: Set the alarm area.
Sensitivity: Change the sensitivity of the motion detection. The higher the sensitivity, the easier to trigger alarm.
Channel: Can be set for each channel.
Enable: Motion detection-enabled switch.
Schedule: Set the alarm time.
Alarm Linkage Control: Include alarm output, show message, buzzer, send Emails, alarm recording, PTZ Act and tour.
- - 1. Alarm In/Alarm Out

Click the Config->Alarm->Alarm In/Alarm Out. You can set up alarm port and linkage operations.

- - 1. Abnormality

Click the Config->Alarm->Abnormality. It is similar to the local abnormality of the HD DVR. You can set the alarm recording, screen tips, buzzer alarm, sending Emails, alarm output.

• No writable disk: There is no disk or the disk status is not available, such as read-only disk.

• Hard disk error: The connection between the disk and the device is error, such as the data lines are broken.

• Disk No Space: Alarm when the remaining space of the hard disk reaches the set value.

• Network Disconnection: Alarm when the network cable is disconnected.

• IP Conflict: Alarm when the IP address is the same as the others.

- 1. Advance Option
    1. Tour

Click the Config-> Advance Option->Tour. It is similar to the HD DVR local settings.

Interval time: Channel switching time.
Channels choose: You can set different channels to switch between back and forth.

You can choose single channel or multi channels to display on your screen at regular

intervals.

- - 1. HDD

Click the Config-> Advance Option->HDD. It is similar to the HD DVR local settings.

5.6.5.2.1 Base

This page shows the status of the device‘s hard disk. You can set the state of the hard disk read and write. You can decide whether or not to sleep hard disk after a few minutes. In addition, you can also format or delete the hard disk.

Hard disk: Hard disk serial number “[1]sda “Or” [2]sdb “.
Status: “Unformatted” or “normal” or “no disk”.
Read\write: The video can be recorded and can be played back.
Read only: The video only can be played back but not be recorded.
Redundant: You can find a completely identical video in the redundant disk. It is a function similar to that of a copy. The entire premise is that you have more than one hard disk.
Group: Set which group the hard disk belongs to.
Delete: Disconnect the connection between the hard disk and the device in logic. Of course, you can also restore the connection between them by clicking on the “Add” button.
Format: Format the hard disk.
Sleep: If the hard disk does not record or not play back in a few minutes, the disk will fall into sleep. This function can enhance the life of the hard disk.

5.6.5.2.2 Advanced

This page you can switch the hard disk’s storage mode, including the “group” or “quotas”. Your device will restart when you switch the mode.

• Group mode: You can select several channels attached to a disk group. Then their videos will be recorded in the group.

Select one disk group number.

Select several channels attached to the disk group.

Quota mode: You can save videos or pictures for each channel that does not exceed the total volume of space.
Record Quota: You can manually set the quota size of the channel video.
Photo Quota: You can manually set the channel quota size to save the screenshots. Select one channel to set the quota size.

5.6.5.2.3 S.M.A.R.T.

It is used to detect the hard disk status.

S.M.A.R.T: To detect the hard disk whether it meets the basic requirements for

storage.

NO.: Access the hard disk serial number.
Status: Can display the self-test progress in real time. And there will be a test result showing that the hard disk is “Passed “Or” Failed “.
Last test time: A recent self testing time on the hard disk.
Temperature: Display the hard disk temperature in real time.
Life time: The time hours that your hard disk have been used for.
- - 1. Upgrade

Click the Config->Advance Option->Upgrade.

Select the upgrade file from local.
Click the upgrade, the device will automatically reboot in remote.

> In general, the extension of the upgrade file is ***.upf.

- - 1. Record control

Click the Config->Advance Option->Record Control. You can quickly set the record control

mode for each channel. It is similar to the HD DVR local settings.

• User accounts: Select the account you want to edit, the page will display this user’s editing privileges.

• The formula bar: Support to add and modify user rights, change password operation, add or delete the user and group.

5.5.5.6 Auto Maintenance

Click the Config->Advance Option->Auto Maintenance. It is similar to the HD DVR local settings.

You can set the time for automatic restart of the HD DVR.

Click the logout button, click OK, you will exit to the login page.

Chapter 6 P2P

1. Login by username

Web -Remote management of equipment in another way is through P2P Connection access.

Open the web browser and input the www.elevatep2p.com, and press the Enter key to enter the login interface.

Click on the “register” button to enter the graphical interface, input your registration information to register. It will show a success message, and then you can login with your account.

This page displays the name and the connection status of have added devices. You can refresh the device status and login in a device manually.

If user set up alarm, the camera will execute a variety of alarm actions at linkage: snap to email, snapshot and video to FTP, snap and video to SD card.

And if you connect external I/O alarm device, it can trigger alarm too.

Tips: The mothod of”Trigger Alone” and “Combination Trigger”, if the user starts up an audio detection and motion detection, the “Combination Trigger” will be started up. Only when any abnormality is detected simultaneously by the audio detection and motion detection will the alarm action be triggered.

FTP Server Address: This field allows the user to designate an IP address or DDNS address for the FTP server.

Server Port: This field allows the user to designate the port number for the FTP server.

User Name: Input FTP user name.

Password: Input FTP password.

Path: Specify a folder for storing video and pictures, for example: ./Q3 alarm

Note: If you want to save the alarm picture and video to FTP, you must build an FTP sever, then create an FTP account with a password (not an anonymous account) on your FTP server and FTP account must have create and delete file rights.

After setting the type of alarm and alarm action, please set up the alarm time, the alarm action can only be triggered when armed. The Green color means the time is armed. User can choose “All Time” or “Clear Time”, and can also choose a specific time. 15 mintues for a interval.

Basic setting: User can set up lock screen password in case you won’t let others to see the video.

Record setting: User can set the Record path, and each recorded video can be set from 5-60 minutes.

Recorded video can be overwrite or stopped if the computer disk storage is not enough.

Record path, file name can not have. And () characters. Language setting: The language can be switched from English and Chinese,German,French.

More Languages will be added very soon.

Scheduled Recording

Before recording to your local computer, please make sure you set up the Record Path on the “Local Setting”. Then follow the below steps to set up the recording:

1: Click “Create” to create a Record name, it will give you a name automatically(combination of date and time), user can edit the name.

2: Select time: User can “select all” if want to record 24/7, and clear it to choose a specific time by dragging or single-click the time interval.

3: Save: Save the record name and time interval you set up.

4: Double-click the Record name to choose it as the record plan.

5: Apply: Click “Apply”, a * will appear in front of the Record plan, it means the scheduled recording is working.

The icon will be shown on live video screen, it means the camera is recording automatically)

Playback

On “Playback” page, user can playback the recorded videos on the local disk and SD card.

3) Select the video in an exact date you want to playback

4) Recorded video list will be shown (Video starts with “P” for Scheduled Recording, and “H” for Manually Recording)

5) Double-click the recorded video name, video will be broadcast.

User can select a certain or all the video and delete it from the list and the record path.

SD Card Record

1) Choose SD/TF record and selected the camera you want to check.

4) Recorded video list will be shown, if it is not shown, please tap to show the list (Video starts with “nrc” for Scheduled Recording, and “arc” for alarm Recording)

5) Double-click the recorded video name, video will be broadcasted.

Lock

Lock the screen if you don’t want to operate it or prevent others to operate the camera.

The default lock password is 123456.
