How to Install SmartPSS for OSX

Description

1. Download SmartPSS

2. Go to downloads and select the SmartPSS file.

3. Highlight SmartPSS ➞ Right Click and a sub menu will show ➞ Click on Open.

4. The MAC OSx security will block the installation of the “SmartPSS_Beta” software.

5. Go to the “System Preferences” option, “General” and you will see at the bottom the option to “Open Anyway”.

6. After downloading the “SmartPSS” software move it from the download folder to the application folder.

7. Double click on the software to start the installation.

8. You will get this message when the installation is successful.

9. Double click on the “SmartPSS” icon. Setup a password.

10. Add a device.

11. Allow incoming network connections.

12. Congratulations, Software installed.

1. Double click on the installer to use the archive Utility

2. Now go to your MAC settings and click on Security and Privacy

3. A pop up will come up, click on Open

4. SmartPSS will then be extracted to your desktop. Do not open SmartPSS on the desktop. Drag SmartPSS to the Application Folder by opening Finder.

5. You can now open SmartPSS and enter a new password.

6. Enter security questions and answers in case the password is forgotten.

7. SmartPSS is now installed

How to Install SmartPSS in Windows with a Non-Administrator Account

Description

This guide aims to explain the process of installing SmartPSS with a non-administrator Windows account

NOTE: If none of the below methods are successful, the software will not run without an admin account on that computer

Step by Step Instructions

Installing SmartPSS for a Non-Administrator Account

1. First step is to install SmartPSS using an admin account in Windows. After SmartPSS was installed under the admin, you can then logged out of the admin, and log into a “standard user” account that will be using SmartPSS without admin credentials. All the steps below were done using the “standard user” account, but the first time you run the shortcut, you will need to know the admin credentials.

2. First, we need to make a manual shortcut for SmartPSS so we can add our syntax. Right click on the desktop, choose new and then choose shortcut.

3. You will get a screen that asks you to choose the file location. Click on the browse button and then navigate to the SmartPSS.exe. The default location is C:\Program Files\Smart Professional Surveillance System\SmartPSS\SmartPSS.exe. Once you locate the file, click ok.

4. Once you navigate to the file and click ok, it will add the location in the location bar.

5. Now you want to take the example syntax and modify it to match your computer name and username. As an example our computer name is DahuaCan and our admin account username is admin. So in the next screenshot you can see we modified the syntax to include our computer name and username. Now you want to add that syntax to the beginning of the location. After you fill that in like the screenshot below and click next, give your Shortcut a name. I called ours SmartPSS as Admin.

6. Now you want to double click on the new SmartPSS shortcut, and you will get a command line pop up. All you need to do is type in the password for the main Admin account. Of note, when you type in the password the line does not move and there is no indication that you are typing anything into the command prompt, this is normal. Make sure to type it in carefully and then click enter.

7. After you click Enter, it should then run SmartPSS using those admin credentials. Those credentials are now saved, so even if you close SmartPSS, even if you log out of the user account or reboot the computer, you can just click on the shortcut on the desktop and it will always use the credentials you already provided it. Your shortcut should now be good to go for that user. If you want to know how to change the shortcut icon, you can continue onto the following steps.

8. Right click the shortcut, then choose change icon like in the screenshots below. It may give you an error about no icons being available. Just click ok. Now navigate your way to the SmartPSS folder again, choose the SmartPSS executable. Now on the next screen it will give you the SmartPSS icon. Choose it and click ok. Now your shortcut will have the proper icon.

Add DVR/NVR to SmartPSS(IP)

Description

This allows you to add and view NVR/HCVR to SmartPSS using IP address.

1. Locate the serial number of your NVR or DVR. The serial number can be found at the following locations:

On the underside or side of the unit
In the web interface, under Info->Version
On the system interface under Main Menu->Settings->Network->P2P

2. Launch SmartPSS. At the main page click Devices

3. Click +Add to add a device

4. The Manual Add window will appear.

5. Use the drop-down box to change ‘Method to add’ to ‘SN(For Device Support P2P)’

6. Enter the Serial Number for the unit in the field SN.

Enter the username and password for the device then click Add

7. The added device will appear in the Device List

8. From the main page of SmartPSS click Live View

9. The added device will apear in the Device List and can be expanded to view all video channels from the device.

1. Launch SmartPSS.

2. Click Playback

3. The device tree on the left will show all devices added to SmartPSS.

For devices with multiple channels/streams, Click the icon to expand the tree to see all channels.

5. Use the checkbox next to each channel you wish to search for.

6.You can configure the parameters of the search using the drop down boxes on the left side of the screen:

Record Type – choose the type of recording records to search for, including Events
Stream Type – Main Stream, Sub Stream
Time – Click the Time window to enter the time frame to search for – Please note this value cannot exceed a 24 hour period

Click ‘Search’ to begin a search based on the parameters.

7. The search results will appear in the timeline below the center window. Click the floating bar on the right side of the screen to open the Record Tray

8. Double click an entry in the list to begin playback

9. Use the controls below the video pane to control playback

Playback from SmartPSS

6. Select and choose “Date and time” .

11. Click on the disk icon to save and start the export.

12. Select “Path” You would like to save to . You can save it to a specific folder.

13. Select “Export Format” (Original Format, ASF, AVI, MP4) and click “OK”

14. The progress can be viewed clicking on the “Export Progress” icon.

How to Dewarp a Fisheye Camera’s Live Feed via SmartPSS

1. Open SmartPSS 2.0 and select Devices.

2. Select Import, then select the folder icon to access file explorer.

How to use E-Map

1) Select E-Map from Home Page

2) Select “Add Map” → Name Map → Find File of Map to be used → Map description → click “Save” and Map will be come into view.

3) On the top left select the “Edit tab”. This will allow to add cameras to the E-Map

4) On the right-hand side you will see a list of recorders and cameras to select. Choose recorder → choose cameras → click on camera to highlight. You may now drag the chosen camera to any part of the map or floor plan. Note: you must be on the edit tab to select cameras to drag onto the map.

5) From the “View” tab, on the map you can double click on the cameras to view live stream. You may view multiple cameras simultaneously.

How to Access IVS Features in SmartPSS

1. From the Smart Pss home page select Live View.

2. On the right hand side menu select click on IVS capable camera and drag it into view > Right click to bring up sub menu > Select “IVS Channel Config”

3. Scene Calibration menu will now be opened > Select the “Calib” button. Draw Region 1 > right click on drawing when completed which will complete the drawing.

How to Setup Smart Track in SmartPSS

1. From the Smart Pss home page select Live View.

2. On the right hand side select and click on device > right click to bring up sub menu > Select “Smart Track Config” which will bring you to the Smart Track Config Menu.

3.To ensure linkage accuracy, please set at least three groups of calibration points > Click “Add” to set calibration points. > Click “OK”

How to Configure SmartPSS to Record IP Camera Feed / PC-NVR Setup

1. Launch SmartPSS and click, “PC-NVR”

2. Click the power button on the right to turn PC-NVR on.

3. Click the plus sign.

4. Click the device you wish to setup to record.

5. Click on the check box below the image.

6. Click, “Import”

7. Click, “Disk Management” on the left hand side. In this section, you can allocate a specific portion of your computer’s hard drive to be used for recording video directly from your device.

8. Input the amount of space that you wish to allocate in gigabytes, and click “Allocate” After a brief moment PC-NVR will restart.

9. Verify that the, “Status” is displaying as, “Online”

10. Click, “Record Plan” on the left hand side.

11. On this page you can configure the recording schedule for your device. In this example, the device is configured to record every day of the week all day long on Schedule and Motion recording.

12. Once complete, click, “Save” at the bottom of this page.

How to Configure SmartPSS 2.0 to Record IP Camera Feed / PC-NVR Setup

1. Launch SmartPSS and click, “PC-NVR”

2. Select “Here”

3. Select Search

4. Find PC-NVR-V3.0, check the box on the left and click Add.

5. Enter in the username and password for PCNVR 3.0.

6. Check if each device is online and added properly.

7. Now Select + at the top of the screen and then select PC NVR again.

8. Select the HDD tab in the right hand column, then select Allocate on the HDD you want to use. Notice the option to Overwrite the HDD or make these read only.

9. Select OK to proceed with erasing and allocating the empty portion of the drive.

10. Select the Channel Management tab in the right hand column.

11. Now check any network device to be recorded and then select the right arrow button and then save to add them.

12. Select Record Plan tab in the right hand column once these devices have been added.

13. Select the gear icon on the right to set the parameters of the record schedule, and then select ok and then save.

14. Select ok, thne select + at the top of the screen to add a new tab.

15. Select Playback.

16. Now under the PC-NVR 3.0 select the device to search for recorded video. Select Search and press play. The recorded video will open in the first available window. The Type of recording and time of recording will take place towards the bottom of the screen. The Green area in this picture represents what regular recording will look like.
