The Verkada People Analytics feature uses powerful edge-based camera capabilities to detect people, faces, and filter results based on clothing color, apparent sex, and the presence of backpacks.

Enable the People History feature

All Verkada cameras perform people detection (as outlined above) out of the box. However, to enable more complex analytics, such as the ability to search for faces or for people by clothing color, you must enable the People History feature.

Required. To begin, you need to enable the feature globally on your org and then on the individual cameras.

Enable People Analytics Globally

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Privacy & Security, click Feature Manager.

3.Under People Analytics, toggle on People History, Person Attributes, and Face Detection.

Enable People Analytics on individual cameras

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Click Settings > Analytics.

3.Under Analytics, toggle on People History and other analytics features that you may need. You can only toggle on (enable) Person Attributes, Face Detection, Occupancy Trends) when People History is enabled.

View Person History

When enabled, a Person History can be seen on individual cameras and across all cameras in your organization.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera > People (you won’t see this option if High Resolution Image Capture is disabled).

3.(Optional) Use the search bar to see and apply the available filters.

4.(Optional) Select Upload Photo to search for a specific person on the camera.

View Person History across all cameras

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select People.

You should be able to see all detected people across all cameras.

3.Use the search bar to see and apply the available filters (you can also use Ctrl+K or Cmd+K to open the search menu).

Use Face Search

When enabled, a Face Search can be seen across all cameras in your organization and on the Verkada Command mobile app.

The Face Search feature is enabled, by default, when you toggle on High Resolution Image Capture. You can search a face across all cameras in your organization.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select People > Profiles.

You should be able to see all detected faces across all cameras.

3.Use the search bar to see and apply the available filters (you can also use Ctrl+K or Cmd+K to open the search menu).

5.Click Next > Apply > Done to apply the settings.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

3.At the top right of the live feed, click the Hamburger icon (3 bars).

4.Select People History to see all people sightings for this camera.

Access a Face Search

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select the camera where you want to search face history.

3.At the top right of the live feed, click the Hamburger icon (3 bars).

Enable Vehicle Analytics

Vehicle analytics uses powerful edge-based capabilities to detect vehicles and filter results based on vehicle color and body type.

How it Works

Vehicle analytics leverages the cameras’ powerful onboard processing capabilities to detect the presence of, and analyze the properties of vehicles as they appear in the frame. As vehicles are detected, high-resolution images are taken and analyzed for vehicle objects. Selected images are then sent to Verkada’s cloud-based Command platform, where users can filter historical clips for vehicles and search for specific vehicles by time, date, body type, and color.

All Verkada cameras perform vehicle detection (as outlined above) out of the box. However, to enable more complex analytics, such as the ability to search for vehicles by color and body type, vehicle analytics must be turned on.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera.

3.Select Settings> Analytics.

4.Toggle on Vehicle History.

Verkada’s people and vehicle search features use advanced computer vision functionality to identify people and vehicles within the camera’s field of view and quickly find relevant events.

The Verkada Command UI enables instant video replay previews and trajectory viewing. Trajectory analysis features offers possibilities for searching events, reduces the number of missed detections, improves the detection distance, and reduces duplicates.

View people and vehicles over a timeline

Required. You must have Site Viewer and Site Admin access to view the Motion tab under the camera feed. Learn more about Roles and Permissions for Cameras.

You can view people and vehicles detected by a Verkada camera within historical footage.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera to view its feed.

3.At the top, click Motion.

4.To the right, click Show Pathsto toggle on/off the feature.

5.(Optional) Make a selection on the video player grid to search for motion in the area.

6.(Optional) Use the People, Vehicle, and Date filters for more granular searches

7.Hovering over a thumbnail with the people or vehicle filters selected gives a count of the people/vehicles in the frame with an option to archive the clip. By hovering over the previews, you can see tracks for the individual.

8.Click the thumbnail to be taken to the exact time in the recorded footage.

Note: People and/or vehicles will only be available if these objects were detected in the camera frame.

View people trajectories (paths)

The people trajectories feature visualizes the paths of people moving through the scene to show the trajectories of each detected person.

Trajectories drastically improve the motion event recall and enable the cameras to recognize people and vehicles at a further distance. For a detailed breakdown of the detection ranges of each model, see the People Analytics Guide.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera to view its feed.

3.At the top, click Motion.

4.(Optional) Make a selection on the video player grid to search for motion in the area.

Compatible cameras

People and Vehicle History Search

You can use the People and Vehicle search pages to:

• View all people and vehicles detected by every camera in your organization (org).

• Quickly and easily determine where and when a particular person or vehicle was last seen.

• Find new faces that have been seen.

• Configure notifications when specific people or vehicles are sighted.

Search for people

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras > People > All.

You should see all the people sighted on cameras in your org.

2.(Optional) Select a thumbnail to play a clip from the camera where this person was sighted.

Each thumbnail image includes a timestamp and the camera name.

3.At the top left, find the search bar. You can filter for options, such as camera, site, date, and so on to narrow your search.

Search for People of Interest

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras > People > People of Interest.

2.Select a person to open that person’s profile page and show thumbnail images for all the instances where that person was last sighted. Each thumbnail image includes a timestamp and the camera name.

3.(Optional) To view the corresponding video footage, simply select the thumbnail image that is of interest. If the face spotted was not this person, on the thumbnail, click the Kebab icon (three dots) and select Not This Person.

4.(Optional) You can use the search bar to filter options to narrow your search.

Set People of Interest notifications

To receive alerts for People of Interest, you need to set up alert based on your events.

IMPORTANT

People of Interest replaced Profiles on June 8, 2023. Profiles created before this date that were not set as People of Interest are not automatically send People of Interest alerts.

To set up notifications when a particular face is detected:

1.Select the profile.

2.At the top left corner, click the Kebab icon (three dots).

3.Select Add to event.

Create People of Interest

You can manually create a People of Interest group by uploading an image of a person’s face.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras > People > People of Interest.

2.At the top right, click Person of Interest.

3.On the Add Person of Interest dialog, upload a photo that clearly shows the face of only one person (close up). The image should be in JPG or PNG format and should be less than 15 MB in size.

If you upload a picture that resembles an existing Person of Interest, then Command may suggest a profile to add the image to. If the picture you are uploading is of an existing profile, you can select it to add this picture as a reference photo. If not, select create a new one to continue creating a new profile.

Merge People of Interest

Sometimes duplicate People of Interest are accidentally created. If this happens, you can merge the duplicate People of Interest profiles.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras > People > People of Interest.

2.At the top of each face, use the checkboxes to select the Person of Interest you want to merge.

3.Click Merge.

The profiles should merge and you will be prompted to view the new profile for that person.

Create a new tag to People of Interest

You can create and add tags to People of Interest to group similar profiles together.

Type the desired name and at the bottom of the tag list, click Add Tags.

Add a tag to a user’s profile

Select the profile and select the plus (+) icon (adjacent to the Tags button). If the tag you want to add is already in the list, you can select it from the list.

Filter a tag name

1.On the People of Interest page, click Tag (from the search menu) to filter by tag name.

2.Select the desired tag. This should show all associated profiles.

Remove a person of interest

1.Select a person.

2.At the top, click the Kebab icon (three dots) and select Remove this person.

Search for vehicles

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras > Vehicles > All Vehicles.

You should see all vehicles sighted on cameras in your org.

2.Select a camera thumbnail (where the vehicle was sighted) to play a clip.

3.At the top left, use the search bar to filter options, such as camera, site, date, and so on to narrow your search.

Search all license plates

If you have Verkada License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras installed, you can use the All License Plates and License Plates of Interest tabs.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras > Vehicles.

2.At the top, click All License Plates or License Plates of Interest.

◦ If you click All License Plates, you can view all the license plates detected in your org and how often they were detected. By clicking a license plate, you can see all recent sightings of this plate.

◦ If you click License Plates of Interest, you can receive alerts whenever this plate is detected. You can also view all license plates that have been marked for notifications and filter out all other plates.

Enable Occupancy Trends

The Occupancy Trends feature provides organizations with an estimate of the foot traffic at critical locations within their facilities. These estimates can provide valuable insights for optimizing staffing, adjusting hours of operation, and or tracking the

performance of marketing and promotional activities.

Note: This feature is available on the CB52, CB62, CM42, CD32, CD42, CD52, and CD62 models.

Installation guidelines

Required. To use this feature, People Analytics must be enabled. To do so, follow the steps in the People Analytics guide.

For best performance, we recommend these installation guidelines during the installation of a camera where Occupancy Trends will be enabled:

• Choose a one-directional path. Occupancy Trends works best in locations, such as doors and hallways.

• Install the camera 8–12 ft (2.4–3.7m) away from the digital line.

• Position cameras no more than 40–60˚ vertically from the location of the digital line.

• Minimize occlusions and constructions between the camera and the line.

• Ensure good illumination and visibility on both sides of the line. Users must be visible on both sides of the line for at least one second.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera and go to the camera’s Settings page.

3.Scroll down to the Analytics section and toggle on Occupancy Trends.

4.Return to the camera’s main page and select the Analytics tab (displayed below the camera’s live feed).

5.Click Add lines to open the wizard.

6.Click and drag the camera view to draw a line across the screen. You can draw multiple lines, though data from all lines are aggregated.

7.Click one of the dropdown menus (displayed near the arrow heads) to change how users crossing in that direction are counted. The Ignore option indicates that users crossing this direction are not counted by the Occupancy Trends feature.

8.After you set up the lines for the camera’s view, click Save.

View Occupancy Trend estimates

1.After enabling Occupancy Trends and establishing your line, you can view results by returning to the device’s Analytics tab. This tab presents all the estimated In and Out counts for your selected period of time. You can hover your mouse over individual bars to see the numeric count for that period.

2.Select the time filter dropdown to increase the range of time covered by the Occupancy Trends graph, up to a maximum of 365 days.

3.Select the period of time filter dropdown to choose the period of time that each column in the graph represents.

Export Occupancy Trends results

You can export Occupancy Trends results as a .csv file.

1.Go to the Analytics tab.

2.At the top right, click Downloadto automatically download your occupancy trends results.

onnect to Thin Client using SSH

Enable SSH in Thin Client

SSH is disabled by default and any time a factory restore is performed.

1. Open a web browser and enter http://thinclientIP/EnableSSH. Recommended browsers include: Mirosoft® Internet Explorer, Mozilla®, Firefox®, and Google Chrome™.

2. The message “SSH Successfully enabled” appears.

3. If you are using Linux go to command–line and enter ssh @. For example, ssh root@10.234.1.10. When prompted enter the password.

4. If you are using Windows® ensure a version of PuTTY is downloaded.

a.In the PuTTY Configuration window enter the IP address of your Thin Client in the Host Name field.

b.Select Connection Type SSH.

c.(Optional) To assign a name for the connection enter it in the Saved Sessions field. A different name can be assigned to each of your Thin Clients.

d.Click Open.

e.If this is the first time that PuTTY was used to log in to the server with SSH a PuTTY Security Alert message is generated. Click Yes to continue.

f.When prompted enter your username and password. NOTE: Log in as the root user if this is the first time logging in to the server.

g.Press Enter. If the correct root password was entered, the prompt responds with a shell prompt: [root@yourservername ~]#

When you are done, you should consider disabling SSH. The link to disable SSH is http://thinclientIP/DisableSSH.

Cannot connect to ONVIF-compliant camera because no ONVIF stream available

Issue

Network cameras/encoders supporting ONVIF do not offer a way to set up an ONVIF stream/profile necessary for making an ONVIF connection from the Thin Client to the ONVIF-compliant device.

Solution

If the camera manufacturer does not provide a method for setting up ONVIF streaming profiles, use a third-party tool to do so. One such open source tool is the ONVIF Device Manager: http://sourceforge.net/projects/onvifdm/

Device cannot connect to Video Source

Issue

The Thin Client cannot connect to Mobile Bridge, and you see an Invalid Video Source error when setting up or re-configuring the device as follows: “Unable to connect to video source. Please verify server address and credentials and try again.”

Solutions

• Ensure that the Symphony Mobile Bridge Server IP address, Port, and user credentials are correct.

• If a firewall or layer 3 switch is installed between the Thin Client and the Mobile Bridge Server and/or Symphony, ensure that the proper ports are forwarded and/or routed. See the Symphony Installation Guide and/or the Mobile Bridge Installation Guide for port information.

Camera views contain blank camera panels

Issue

Thin Client camera views contain one or more blank camera panels on the web interface and/or the HDMI output monitor.

Solution

The Thin Client can decode up to 1920×1080 at 30 FPS in H.264, MJPEG, or MPEG4. Ensure you have at least one (1) camera stream configured at this resolution or lower.

Note: Camera streams above 1920×1080 resolution cannot be decoded to the camera.

The Thin Client device automatically selects an appropriate video stream based on the resolution of the panel the video is being rendered in. Thin Client will select the stream with a resolution that most closely matches the panel’s resolution without exceeding it.

Therefore, it is recommended to have one (1) stream at 1920×1080 and another stream at 800×450 as the Thin Client will select the best stream automatically based on the camera view layout selected.

Cisco 2960-X and Catalyst SG300 switch with Thin Client

Issue

Thin Client is not connecting to cameras, not displaying cameras, not working properly on the network.

Reason

The network port is ‘flapping’ that is, going up and down constantly and so the Thin Client cannot connect.

Source of Problem: Cisco Switches

• (2960-X) and 2960 models

• Catalyst SG300 … (MPP)

The EEE (Energy-Efficient Ethernet) feature on the switch is the source of the issue. See Cisco bug report here:

Resolution

Disable the EEE feature on the switch. This resolves the issue with the Thin Client.

Edges of the Displayed Image are Cropped

Symptoms:

The edges of the displayed video images are cropped.

Probable Cause:

It is likely that overscan is enabled on the displays being used. Overscan is the term used to describe the situation when not all of an image is present on a viewing screen. By default most TVs and monitors are set to use overscan to compensate for potential artifacts at the edge of the screen from the incoming signal.

Solution:

Turn off overscan on all the displays being used. The procedure for this varies depending on the product; therefore, consult the documentation for your particular model for complete instructions.

Device does not power on

Issue

When you attempt to power on the Thin Client by plugging it in to a PoE switch, and one or more of the following occurs:

• The device does not power on.

• The device LED, located on the front of the device, do not light up, and the device does not boot up.

• You are unable to reach the Thin Client web interface by the device’s IP address.

Solutions

• Verify that the device is connected to a PoE switch.

• Ensure that the PoE switch has not exceeded its maximum power budget

HDMI output is not working or is cut off

Issue

The Thin Client is not displaying HDMI output on the monitor.

– or –

HDMI television output is partially cut off.

Solutions

• It is recommended to use the HDMI cable supplied with the Thin Client. DVI/VGA/HDMI converters may not work.

• Ensure that the overscan feature is disabled when using an HDMI television. See the television documentation for details.

Upgrading from a version older than 1.2.1.515

If you have a Thin Client version older than 1.2.1.515 do NOT update directly to Thin Client 2.01.

You MUST update to 1.2.1.515 first and then to 2.0.1.

The version number is displayed in the top left of the Web interface and in the About section at the top of the Settings page.

Connection Fails, Unable to Retrieve Live Video: Thin Client 2.1.0 – Mobile Bridge

Example Scenario:

When you connect a Thin Client to a PSA, the Mobile Bridge is installed with default values. The entered IP address is localhost or 127.0.0.1.

Issue:

Thin Client tries to retrieve live video and the connection fails.

Solution:

During Mobile Bridge setup, you must enter a unique IP address when Mobile Bridge is installed on the same machine as the Symphony Server. Do NOT enter 127.0.01 or localhost during the Mobile Bridge setup because the Thin Client will NOT be able to retrieve video via that Mobile Bridge.

Example:

Cannot Log into Thin Client Using Chinese Characters

Applies to Thin Client v2.0.0 and 2.0.1

Issue:

User tries but fails to log into Thin Client using Chinese characters in username or password.

Solution:

To set up your Thin Client so that users can log into the Thin Client using Chinese characters, you must modify Thin Client settings using the settings.sh script.

1.Enable SSH in Thin Client and log into SSH using PuTTy (Windows) or SSH (Linux).

Thin Client 2.1.0 – Wrong time displayed in video decoration when connecting to cameras via Mobile Bridge

Issue:

When you connect to cameras via Mobile Bridge and you manually change the time in the Thin Client web interface, the time does NOT change on the video decoration. The time decoration in the video is always the time of the server to which the camera is connected.

Cause:

Thin Client converts the Symphony Server’s Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) to local time and displays it in the video decoration. The time decoration therefore is not affected by local system time.

Reason:

This is necessary because of historical video, which must show the converted time from the server.

Important: If the time is changed when connecting directly to the camera, the updated time is displayed in the video decoration.

Touch Screen Monitor Not Working with Thin Client

Problem:

Touch screen monitor does not work with the Thin Client.

Issue:

The touch screen monitor must be on before powering on the Thin Client.

Resolution:

Ensure your monitor is on and restart the Thin Client.

Add Axis cameras with dewarped panoramic view to Thin Client devices

To see the video from an Axis fisheye camera in a dewarped panoramic view, you must manually add the camera using a direct connection with an RTSP URL.

1.On the camera, select the stream profile setting (for example, panorama), choose the resolution (for example, 1600×600), and select Mirror if required. For more information, see https://www.axis.com/support/faq/FAQ115871.

2.On the Thin Client device, manually add the camera using the following RTSP URL:

Where ip_address is the IP address of the camera, profile_id is the stream profile setting for the camera, and resolution is the resolution of the camera.

Thin Clients do not display video when connecting through Mobile Bridge

Symptoms

Thin Clients do not display video when connecting to Symphony using Mobile Bridge.

Probable cause

The Thin Clients are using TLS 1.0 and the Mobile Bridge is using TLS 1.2.

Solution

Configure the Thin Clients to use TLS 1.0.

1.On the server that host the Mobile Bridge, close all browser windows.

2.Click Start.

3.Type regedit and press Enter.

4.Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols.

5.Create a key called TLS 1.0.

6.In the TLS 1.0 key, create a key called Server.

7.In the Server key, create a 32-bit DWORD called Enabled and click OK.

8.Double-click Enabled and change the value to 1.

9.Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

10.Restart the Mobile Bridge and Thin Client.

To connect to a Thin Client device using an SNMP browser, you must use the following settings in addition to the IP address of the Thin Client device.

For customers with mission-critical real-time viewing requirements, the VX52 is the viewing platform of choice.

This article outlines the required settings that your Verkada viewing stations need to communicate with Verkada Command and to operate properly.

Requirement: Verkada devices are incompatible with LANs that require the use of proxy servers or that require Secure Socket Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) inspection. If either are in use, a bypass for all Verkada devices must be implemented for Verkada devices to communicate with Command.

IP address

Viewing stations need an IPv4 address to communicate to Command through the internet. Viewing stations use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports 67 and 68, to obtain their IP addresses and network configurations—on a wired or wireless internet connection.

If you want to have a specific IP address on your viewing station, set a DHCP reservation using the device’s Media Access Control (MAC) address (found on the device’s label).

Domain Name System

Viewing stations use the Domain Name System (DNS) server to resolve Verkada’s fully qualified domain names (FQDN) to IP addresses to communicate with them. Your DHCP server tells the viewing station where the DNS server is on the network and the viewing station communicates using UDP port 53.

Note: DNS over HTTPS (DoH) is currently not supported.

Firewall settings

Verkada devices require access to many endpoints to have the full-featured experience. Many customers may want to restrict devices to only communicate with the specific required endpoints.

The Verkada Smart Tiles feature provides a way to display the most notable options from access events, sensor events, and notable camera data and data sets. Admins can remotely manage the Verkada VX52 Viewing Station, select video feeds and Smart Tiles to display, and customize layouts.

Find the smart tiles for your VX52

Once you set up your VX52, you can configure the tiles on the VX52 and add smart tiles.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices.

2.Find and select your VX52 that you want to set up smart tiles for.

3.At the top right, click Manage Tiles.

4.At the top center, select Smart Tiles.

5.Choose the type of Smart Tiles you want to add to your VX52.

Choose the type of smart tiles to add

There are 3 different types of Smart Tiles you can add to your VX52:

Active Area

Displays the camera with the most motion. To change which camera(s) display on the active area tile, select the tile to see the information panel where you can select from the following options:

• The current page

• All pages

• A camera of your choice that is not already set up on the viewing station

Access Control

Displays all most recent door events, including any door event that you would see indoor history, such as:

• Access granted events

• Access denied events

• Door open events

• Door held open (DHO) and door forced open (DFO) events

When you select this tile, you can choose which door is displayed on the VX52.

Sensor Readings

Displays the air quality readings of your choice. From the Customize Data tab, you can select a sensor reading when you select the sensor tile. See Air Quality Sensor Readings.

Set Up Your Viewing Station

The Verkada Viewing Station provides a plug-and-play solution to stream multiple camera feeds simultaneously on a display with no local configuration needed.

• It serves as a dedicated, admin-managed device with customizable layouts.

• Supports 30 camera feeds per page and up to 10 pages.

Step 1: Connect your viewing station

When you open your box, you should find an HDMI cable, a power cord, and a viewing station remote. You only need to provide an Ethernet cable. See Viewing Station Network Settings.

Once you take the viewing station out of the box, follow these setup steps:

1.Attach the power cord to the viewing station and connect it to a power source.

2.Connect one end of the HDMI cord to the viewing station and the other end to your display.

3.Attach an Ethernet cable to the viewing station and connect it to your network.

Step 2: Claim your viewing station

Note: You must be an Org Admin to ensure you have access to all devices on your viewing station and to claim the viewing station.

Find your viewing station’s serial number

The are 2 ways to find the serial number:

• Once the viewing station is powered on, you should see a serial number displayed along with a QR code.

• In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices > select a viewing station.

• On the right panel, you should see the following settings: Site, Location, Date Added, Serial Number, Model, Timezone, and Local IP.

When you’re ready, claim the viewing station (as you would for a camera):

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices > Add Devices.

2.When prompted, enter or scan the viewing station’s serial number.

3.When prompted, claim the viewing station and configure, as needed.

Once the VX52 is powered on you will see a serial number displayed along with a QR code. When you are ready you can claim the viewing station just like a camera from command.verkada.com/add-device.

Once claimed you are now ready to configure your viewing station.

Step 3: Configure your viewing station

Find your viewing station

To find your newly added viewing station, go to the Devices page and filter for viewing stations.

1.In Verkada Command, go All Products > Devices and filter the viewing stations.

2.At the top right, click the arrow to begin the configuration.

3.(Optional) At the top left, select the viewing station’s name and edit the name.

To edit the name of the viewing station, select its name at the top of the page and enter a unique name.

Add camera tiles and Smart Tiles

Note: You can add up to 10 pages and up to 30 live feeds per page.

1.On the selected viewing station’s page, click Add Camera Tiles. You can also select Add Smart Tiles, which enables you to display the most active camera, most recent access control event, or air quality or environmental sensor information.

2.Once you have cameras or smart tiles added, you can change the layout of the display. Click Settings (gear icon) > Layout to change the display layout.

3.(Optional) Click the plus (+) icon to add an additional page. You can add up to 10 pages and up to 30 live feeds per page.

Each page has a timer to enable you to view different subsets of cameras on your viewing station.

Add Verkada viewing station admins

Note: You need to be Org Admin to ensure you have access to all devices on the viewing station.

A device that is moved to a different site (where the user does not have access) causes the same issue. It’s possible for an org to have sites that an Org Admin does not have access to, but they can grant themselves access.

Step 4: Configure viewing station settings

1.On the viewing station page, click Settings.

2.On Settings, you can view the current settings or delete the viewing station, if needed.

The Settings menu consists of the following options:

• Offline Alerts—Receive offline alerts for the viewing station, and select a list of users who can receive those alerts.

• Show Labels—Toggle that displays labels on the camera live feeds. If you toggle off this setting, you can only view the live feeds of the cameras and not the camera names.

• Enable Cloud Streaming—Use this setting if the cameras are remote from your location to prevent live streaming remotely or allow live streaming remotely. When this setting is toggled off, only cameras that are local to you will live stream.

• Test Offline mode—The viewing station still streams locally if the network connection is lost, and simulates a network outage on the viewing station.

• Enable Low-Latency Streaming—When cameras are fully updated and local to the viewing station, they stream with low latency.

• Copy Existing Viewing Station—Copy live feed configurations and viewing station settings from other viewing stations in your org.

Configure Wi-Fi

Note: Wi-Fi support on the viewing station requires Verkada software version 2.2.0 (137) or higher. You can find the software version and the serial number in the Device section (below Wi-Fi). If your viewing station has not yet automatically updated to this software version, please contact Verkada Support.

1.Connect the viewing station to a wired network first and complete the setup process.

2.Once it is online via a wired network, enter the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID).

3.Select the appropriate Security type (WPA2, WPA, or WEP).

4.Enter the Wi-Fi network Password and click Save (hidden SSIDs and networks without passwords are not currently supported).

5.Wait 1–2 minutes and then power down the viewing station, disconnect the network cable, and power it back on. The viewing station should then connect to Wi-Fi and continue operating as normal.

Copy an existing viewing station

You can copy live feed configuration and viewing station settings from other viewing stations in your organization.

Restart viewing station

The viewing station becomes unavailable for a few minutes while it restarts.

Configure Motion Tiles

Motion tiles for the Verkada Viewing Station (VX51 and VX52)

The Verkada Motion Tile feature enables the viewing station to intelligently select video feeds that are most important and brings them into a dedicated tile. This designated motion tile switches to feeds where a significant amount of motion is detected, allowing viewers to quickly see important activity and take any necessary action. You can configure motion tiles to search for activity across one or more sites, or even across an entire organization.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices.

2.Select a viewing station and click the right arrow (>) to open the selected viewing station.

3.At the top right, click Manage Tiles.

4.Under the camera, select the Motion Tile.

5.In the Motion Tile Settings, you can define which cameras are eligible to display in this particular motion tile.

• If you select Current Page, it makes all cameras on this viewing station’s page eligible to be displayed on the motion tile.

• If you select Current Page with no cameras added to the page, it causes the motion tile to display nothing.

1.(Optional) Select sites or subsites to add to the motion tile.

2.Click Save and your Motion Tile is ready to go.
