How To Upgrade Blue Iris Demo Software With An Amcrest License Without Losing Settings

If you are currently using a demo version of the Amcrest Blue Iris software upgrading your account will not reset your settings. All settings will be retained on the software after the upgrade is complete. For more information on how to upgrade your demo version of Blue Iris to paid version, please follow the steps provided below.

Step 1: Open your Blue Iris software and click on the Settings option ( ) in the upper left corner of the interface and click on Settings/info.

Step 2: In the About tab, click on the Register now option.

Step 3: In the Activation screen, click Next

Step 4: Enter the Amcrest license number or key you have purchased into the activation box. Click Next to continue.

Step 5: Click Finish once the code has been activated.

Step 5: The new license key has now been applied to your Blue Iris software. The information can be viewed in the License Key section of the menu. Click OK to continue.

The “Evaluation Copy” overlay will be removed from the live view screen and your previous settings will be accessible throughout the software.

Blue Iris UI3 update Issue

If you are attempting to update to a new version of the Blue Iris software and receive an error such as:

this is not a result of a bug or issue with the software itself but is a result of an update made to Visual Studio C++ compiler which is the software used to build Blue Iris. To resolve the issue, a simple reinstall of the software will fix the problem, however, if you wish to resolve the issue without reinstalling the software, please refer to the information below.

A resolution will be based on the which version of Windows you are running. For instance, if you are operating on a 64-bit version of Windows you will need to search and run the VCREDIST_X64.exe to resolve the issue. If you have a 32 bit system you will run the VCREDIST_X32.exe.

If this file is not found on your computer you may run it from the following URL blueirissoftware.com/VCREDIST_X64.exe (or VCREDIST_X32.exe for 32 bit).

Step 1: Load the VCREDIST .exe file and click Run

Step 2: Click on Install.

Step 3: A restart of your computer will be required to complete the install. Click on Restart to restart your computer.

After your computer has finished restarting please load the Blue Iris software and run the update as normal. If this does not fix the issue a full re-install of the software may be required. To re-install the Blue Iris software on your computer, access the Control Panel and click on “Uninstall a program”.

Locate the Blue Iris Software from the Programs and Features list and click Uninstall. Select “Yes” to remove Blue Iris from your computer. For more information on how to install Blue Iris on your computer click

Note: It is recommended to not delete any registry entries or license activations during this process.

Click Finish, to restart your computer and complete the uninstall.

Blue Iris Not Automatically Starting up After a Crash?

If your Blue Iris software crashes or becomes unresponsive and the software does not restart automatically with its last settings displayed then the software may need to be ran as a Windows service. By default, Blue Iris 5 is not set to run as a Windows service so therefore would have to be implemented manually. For more information on how to set Blue Iris as a Windows service, refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Open Blue Iris 5 and click on the settings menu located in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 2: In the Settings menu, click on the Startup tab.

Inside the Startup tab, make sure the “Use last window position” option is selected in the Window field then click on the “Run as a Windows service (no UI, run again for console)” checkbox. This will enable your software to run as a Windows service. Click OK to continue.

Step 3: The service will install automatically. Click OK to reboot or restart the Blue Iris software.

The software is now running as a Windows service which allows the software to reboot with last settings in tact after a crash or service interruption.

How to Add a Camera Into Blue Iris

The camera and the computer you are using must be on the same network during setup. Please make sure you are running the most current version of Blue Iris during setup. The latest version of Blue Iris can be downloaded here.

There are 2 ways to add a camera into Blue Iris. You can right click on the main menu, or click on the settings menu ( )in the top-left corner of the interface.

Adding a Camera

To begin, right-click on the main interface or click on the settings menu () to access the “New camera” menu.

In the new camera menu, give your camera a name, a short name (for URLs and filenames), choose a type, which in this case will be a Network IP, and enable any options such as, enabling audio, motion detection, etc. Click OK to continue.

This will open two windows. The top window will be Network IP Camera Configuration. Enter the address of your camera (IP Domain or DDNS as well as RTSP address) and click on the Find/Inspect… button on the right to confirm. Enter the username and password, select the make as Amcrest, select the model of your device (ProHD and HDseries cameras as “ProHD 1080p RTSP/HTTP”), and specify the RTSP and ONVIF ports.

Note: If you choose the other option profile, “ProHD/IP2/3/4/4M Mainstream RTSP” features such as PTZ or other related features may not be accessible. Please use ProHD 1080P RTSP/HTTP in the Model field.

After filling in the information required, click OK. The second window will appear titled New Camera. Here you can make many adjustments to the way you want Blue Iris to configure your camera.

The page is defaulted to the Video tab. The options available for adjustment are Image Format and Frame Rate, PTZ Controls, Recording through Blue Iris, Alerts through Blue Iris, and other features. Once you have finished adjusting any necessary settings, click on OK to add the camera. The live view screen of your camera will show in the interface.

How to Renew a Key in Blue Iris 5

Any expired keys in the Blue Iris 5 software will cause the software not to work with any connected cameras and may cause them to be inaccessible. Keys in the Blue Iris software provide up to one year of service from the initial start date of your license and will need to be renewed before they expire.

Step 1: Click on the settings menu ( ) located in the top-left corner of the interface and select “Settings”.

Step 2: In the bottom left corner of the Blue Iris Settings menu, click on the Upgrade/renew button to renew the key for your license.

Note: The new expiration date will be displayed in the menu and will be good for one year of the initial start date.

When you have purchased or renewed your account you will receive a new code in your email. Once the new key provided is entered into the Activation menu, press the “OK” button.

Note: Any Blue Iris keys that have expired support have to be renewed or upgraded for it to work in Blue Iris version 5. Additionally, if you are upgrading from version 4, please allow access and remove version 4 from your system. Please say NO to deleting any of your settings. Settings are automatically backed up to C:\Program Files\Blue Iris5\backup_upgrade_50.reg. Click OK to continue.

How to Enable Two Way Audio Using Blue Iris

If your camera supports two-way audio and you are using it in Blue Iris, two-way audio can be configured directly in the software. Please make sure a compatible microphone is set up and configured on your computer before enabling it in Blue Iris. Step 1: Log into Blue Iris and access the device.

Step 2: Click on the Blue Iris software settings icon.

Step 3: Click on the Audio tab and enable the Enable audio capture hardware option.

Chapter 2 Getting Started

To get started, you must acquire a GV-Cloud VMS license and a series number from GeoVision.

1.1Login

1.Log into the GV-Cloud portal: https://www.gvaicloud.com/

2.Click Sign up.

3.Type the GV-Cloud user’s Name, E-mail, mobile phone number (optional), and Password. Type the password again

4.Click Agree to accept Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and GDPR, and click Sign Up. You will receive a confirmation e-mail.

5.To confirm the e-mail account, click the activation link in the confirmation e-mail. You will receive an additional e-mail confirming the success of GV-Cloud registration, along with an account ID number.

6.Log into GV-Cloud using the registered e-mail address and the account ID number.

IMPORTANT: Keep your account ID number, which is required each time you log into GV- Cloud.

.Note: The mobile phone number can be used for the two-factor authentication if needed. See 5.3 Two-Factor Authentication.

1.2Adding Licenses

For first-time users, you need to add a license to start the services.

1.Click the Account icon > Account Settings.

2.Click the Subscription icon, type your serial number, and click Verify.

3.Click Cloud VMS under Subscription List. Your order information is displayed.

4.To view details on a Plan you purchased, click it under the Subscription List.

5.After adding hosts to GV-Cloud VMS, you can return to the Subscription List page, and enable or disable any cameras using the License Cameras option of each Plan.

1.3Creating Hosts

You must create a Host for each GV-VMS, GV-AI Guard, or GV-Cloud Bridge that you want to connect to. To create a host on GV-Cloud VMS, follow the steps below.

1.Select Hosts in the left menu, and click at the top right. This dialog box appears.

2.Type Display Name, Password (to be the host’s GV-Cloud VMS login password), and select Time Zone for the host. The rest information is optional.

3.Click Apply.

The message “Host has been added” will be displayed. Keep the Host Code and Password

for configuring the connection to GV-Cloud on the host.

Note: To reset the password, select a host in the Hosts list, and click the Edit Info icon next to the Info tab. See [Info], 4.1 Hosts.

1.4Connecting GV-VMS or GV-AI Guard

Follow the steps below to connect GV-VMS or GV-AI Guard to GV-Cloud VMS for cloud central monitoring.

Note: The support for GV-AI Guard is coming soon.

In GV-VMS / GV-AI Guard:

1.Click Home > Toolbar > Network > Connect to GV-Cloud. A dialog box appears.

2.Type a Host Code and Password created on GV-Cloud VMS. For details, see 2.3 Creating Hosts.

3.Click Connect.

In GV-Cloud VMS:

When the GV-Cloud VMS connection is established, the host will be displayed, with a yellow icon or a green icon , on the GV-Cloud VMS Home page.

Without a license, you can view live streaming from the host.

1.In the left menu, click Live Streaming.

2.Expand the host in the host list.

3.Click a camera to see its live view.

By adding a license, you can receive snapshots or back up video to GV-Cloud VMS. For details, see 2.2 Adding Licenses.

Note:

1.If the GV-Cloud VMS connection fails in GV-VMS / GV-AI Guard, check to see if

WebCam Server and Mobile Service are enabled alongside Connect to GV-Cloud.

2.The yellow icon indicates that some of the host’s cameras are disconnected, while the green icon indicates that all of the host’s cameras are connected.

3.For camera events, only motion and video lost will be sent to GV-Cloud VMS by default. To send additional camera event types to GV-Cloud VMS, see 2.4.1 Configuring Advanced Settings.

1.4.1Configuring Advanced Settings

To specify which events should be sent to GV-Cloud VMS, click the Configure button on the Connect to GV-Cloud dialog box. Three types of settings are available: General, Camera, and I/O Device.

Run Remote ViewLog Service: Run Remote ViewLog Service automatically once the connection to GV-Cloud VMS is enabled. The service is required to play back recordings from GV-VMS / GV-AI Guard.

Run Mobile Service: Run Mobile Service automatically once the connection to GV-Cloud VMS is enabled. The service is required to access live view form GV-VMS / GV-AI Guard.

[Connection Broken]

Retry Interval: Set a time interval to reconnect GV-Cloud VMS to GV-VMS / GV-AI Guard if it loses connection.

[Notify GV-Cloud when the following events occur] Select which events to notify GV- Cloud VMS about. Click Modify to adjust the threshold for sending notifications when the free storage space or keep days falls below the threshold.

[Temp Folder] The path to store logs and recordings to be sent to GV-Cloud VMS.

[Camera]

[Notify GV-Cloud of the monitoring status] Notify GV-Cloud VMS whenever camera monitoring is enabled or disabled.

[Notify GV-Cloud when the following events occur] Select a camera from the list, and then select the type of event or data to be sent to GV-Cloud VMS. By double-clicking the following two fields, you can specify the alarm conditions for specific events.

Minimum Duration: Specify the minimum duration of motion or video lost before an alert is generated. You can also specify a minimum Interval between alerts to avoid sending them too frequently.

Tip: To apply the same settings to all cameras in the list, click the Apply All button .

1.5Connecting GV-Cloud Bridge

You can connect up to four ONVIF cameras, through GV-Cloud Bridge, to GV-Cloud VMS for cloud central monitoring.

In GV-Cloud Bridge:

1.In the left menu, select Service Settings > GV-Cloud. This page appears.

2.Enable Connection, and type a Host Code and Password created on GV-Cloud VMS. For details, see 2.3 Creating Hosts.

3.Click Apply. Once it is successfully connected, the State field will display “Connected”.

In GV-Cloud VMS:

When the GV-Cloud VMS connection is established, the host will be displayed, with a yellow icon or a green icon . on the GV-Cloud VMS Home page.

Without a license, you can view live streaming from the host.

4.In the left menu, click Live Streaming.

5.Expand the host in the host list.

6.Click a camera to see its live view.

By adding a license, you can receive snapshots or back up video to GV-Cloud VMS. For details, see 2.2 Adding Licenses.

1.To ensure a smooth playback on GV-Cloud VMS, it is suggested to connect a maximum of 2 cameras for the 4 MP license plan, 3 cameras for 2 MP license plan, and 4 cameras for 720p and SD license plan.

2.The yellow icon indicates that some of the host’s cameras are disconnected, while the green icon indicates that all of the host’s cameras are connected.

Use the Filter above the Host List to display the events of specific hosts.

Click an event to open the video window and view its snapshot, live view and playback.

Display motion and AI events in Photo View or List View.

By clicking an event snapshot on the Home page, you can access the event playback, live view or snapshot, depending on the licenses you purchased.

Chapter 4 Cloud VMS Settings

1.1Hosts

The Hosts page allows you to create host accounts and view the status of the host’s cameras, I/O devices, and storage. Click a created host in the list to access the following functions.

This page allows you to edit the information of a host. Click next to Info to start editing. You can also reset the host’s login password from this page.

[Cameras]

You can view the camera’s connection, monitoring status, applied license plan, plan expiration date, camera resolution, and monitoring type on the Cameras page.

Note: When the camera’s resolution does not match the applied license plan, the following 2 icons will appear:

1.The yellow exclamation mark icon : Move your cursor to the icon and a tooltip of The resolution does not match will appear. This means the camera’s main or sub stream resolution is lower than the applied license plan, and the followings will occur:

(1)The recordings will be uploaded onto GV-Cloud VMS using the closest resolution;

(2)The “Resolution does not match” event will be included in GV-Cloud VMS event log.

2.The red exclamation mark icon : Move your cursor to the icon and a tooltip of The license does not match will appear. This means both the camera’s main and sub stream resolution exceeds the applied license plan, and the followings will occur: (1) The recordings will only be saved in the USB flash drive inserted in the host based on the main stream resolution; (2) The “License does not match” event will be included in GV-Cloud VMS event log.

[Modules]

The Modules page displays which inputs and outputs on the host are being triggered.

[Storage]

On the Storages page, you can view the host’s storage information such as the recycle threshold, Keep Day, storage path, and remaining storage space.

1.2Live Streaming

On the Live Streaming page, you can access the camera’s live view.

1.Select a host in the Host list.

2.Extend the Host to view its camera list.

3.Click a Camera. Its live view is displayed

4.Use the controls at the top of the Live Streaming window to change the view page, frame rate (Auto, 10s, 20s, 30s) or screen division (1, 4, 9, 16).

1.4Query Events

On the Query Events page, you can search for events by category, including I/O Event, System Abnormal, Camera Event, I/O Alert, System Status, Connection, Access Control, Storage, and AI Event.

1.Select a host in the Host list.

2.Define a time range.

3.Select an Event Category and an Event Type.

4.Click Search. The found events are displayed.

5.To export the found events in Excel format, click Export Events.

By clicking an event snapshot, you can view the live view or play it back. For details, see 3.1 Video Window.

Note: The event query can display up to 10,000 results.

1.5Share Links

On the Shared Links page, you can see a list of shared links you created through the video window. To create a shared link, see No. 8 in 3.1 Video Window.

Note: The note for a shared recording is editable. However, once a note is deleted, it cannot be added back to the recording.

1.6Archives

On the Archives page, you can see a list of archived recordings you created through the video window. To archive a recording, see No. 7 in 3.1 Video Window.

Double-click an archived recording to play it back.

Note:

1.The archived recordings will not be limited to a 30-day detention period unless you manually remove them.

2.The note for an archived recording is editable. However, once a note is deleted, it cannot be added back to the archive.

3.Up to 100 archives are supported. If you require additional archives, please contact our sales representatives.

1.7Alert

When an event occurs, you can be alerted via push notifications on your mobile device.

1.In the left menu, click Alert.

2.In the Alert list, click the Add Alert button.

3.Name the Alert.

4.Define Triggered Time and Trigger Schedule for the push notifications to be sent according to the set time and day.

5.Specify the Triggered Alert for push notifications to be sent upon the set events.

6.You can optionally enable / disable the alerts using the switch.

7.Click Save.

1.8Groups

On the Groups page, you can specify which account users have access to which hosts by creating groups. A group named “default” has been created with access to all hosts.

To create a group:

1.Click at the top right.

2.Name the group, and click Send. The group is created.

3.Click the newly created group.

4.To assign hosts and users to the group, click the Edit icon besides Group Info.

5.Select all Available Hosts or desired hosts, and click to add.

6.Select all Available Users or desired users, and click to add.

7.Click Save. The results may appear as follows:

To sort cameras:

After assigning hosts and users to a group, you can configure how camera channels from the hosts are arranged across different screen divisions.

8.Click the Sorting Cameras tab.

9.All the assigned hosts’ cameras are listed on the left. Drag a camera up and down the list to rearrange its order. You can toggle the split mode to see how cameras are arranged in different screen divisions.

10.Click Save.

IMPORTANT: The default group has been created to allow all users to access all hosts. Therefore, to specify an account user to view only limited hosts, remove the user from the default group.

Chapter 5 Account Management

5.1Adding Account Users

You can add account users to monitor different hosts on GV-Cloud VMS. GV-Cloud VMS supports two types of account users:

Master: The account user has access to all functions and settings.

Non-Master: The account user cannot create hosts and groups, nor can they access subscription services. In addition, the user has no access to VPN, Audio Log and Account Management functions.

To add an account user:

1.At the top of the left menu, click the GV-Cloud Apps icon > Account Management.

2.At the top right, click . The Create User page appears.

3.Type the user’s name, email address, and mobile phone number (optional).

4.Click Send. A confirmation e-mail is sent to the operator.

After clicking the activation link to confirm the e-mail account, the account user will receive another e-mail confirming the success of GV-Cloud registration, along with a temporary login password.

The account user can now log into GV-Cloud using the registered e-mail address and the temporary login password. To change the login password, click the Account icon at the bottom of the left menu and select Account Setting.

To assign host permissions:

See 4.7 Groups for details on how to specify which account users have monitoring access to which hosts. Only the hosts assigned to the account user will be displayed when the user logs in.

5.2Changing the User Type

To change a non-master user to a master user, follow the steps below:

1.At the top of the left menu, click the GV-Cloud Apps icon > Account Management.

2.Click a user account in the list.

3.Select Master.

5.3Two-Factor Authentication

By default, GV-Cloud accounts log in using their e-mail and password. 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring you to retrieve a code via SMS or e-mail in order to login.

To enable 2FA on the GV-Cloud account:

1.At the bottom of the left menu, click the Account icon > Account Setting.

2.Click Security .

3.Toggle the Enable 2FA option.

4.Select which way to retrieve a code for login: SMS or Email.

If you select SMS, a mobile phone number must be associated with the GV-Cloud account. To add a mobile phone number, click Profile. Type your phone number in the Mobile field, and click Verify.

If you select Email, the code will be sent to the email address you used to log in the GV-Cloud account.

Note: If multiple users are created under the same GV-Cloud account, each user must log in to configure their own two-factor authentication.

Chapter 6 Audit Log

Audit logs are records of events and changes made by your GV-Cloud accounts that provide a complete record of account activities. Therefore, audit logs are a valuable resource for administrators investigating suspicious network activities and diagnosing problems.

You can conduct a log search by specifying a time range, service, and user behavior. The Audit Log will return the following information:

Service: Cloud VMS, Account Management

Event: The activity was performed, e.g. Login, Logout, or Change Password.

User: The operator who performed an activity.

Date & Time

IP Address

Note: The Audit Log can store 60-day data, and overwrite it with new data on a daily basis.

Chapter 7 E-Map

You can place the icons of connected cameras on Google Maps or on a map you uploaded to GV-Cloud. The map will help you quickly pinpoint the location of an event or the devices you have installed.

7.1Adding a Map

1.In the left menu, click the GV-Cloud Apps icon at the top > eMap. Google Maps loads, and the created hosts are displayed in the left menu.

2.On Google Maps, zoom in on the location of the monitored building or area. Or skip to Step 3 to upload your own map.

3.To upload a map, click Add Map at the top of the left menu. This dialog box appears.

A.Name the map, and locate a map file or drag an image to the dialog box.

B.Click Save. A Pin is placed on Google Maps.

4.Click the Pin to open the map.

5.Click Edit at the top of the map

6.Drag cameras from the left menu onto the map according to their locations.

7.Optionally set up a view zone for illustrating the monitoring area of a camera:

A.Click a blue circle under the camera icon, and select Set Area. A fan-shaped view zone appears.

B.Click on the view zone. Its setting buttons and a red line appear.

C.Click and drag the red line to move the direction of the view zone.

D.To resize the view zone, click and drag two corners of it.

E.Change the color of the view zone if desired.

F.To complete the settings, click the Tick button.

8.Click Edit at the top of the map again when you are finished.

Tip: By clicking the 3D button, the created map can be displayed in 3D view, which you can zoom in and out of a map with the mouse wheel, and rotate it as desired.

7.2Setting up the Event List and Popup Map

You can enable the Event List on the right side of the map to display real-time events, and select which events should appear on the list. When an event occurs, the corresponding map with a flashing icon of a triggered camera will also pop up on the screen.

1.To specify which events should appear on the Event List, click Filter at the top right, select the desired event messages, and click Save.

2.To enable the map popup function, select Auto Select Newest Event at the top right. When the specified events occur, the relevant map with the flashing camera icon will pop up.

3.To view the live view of a triggered camera, click its icon.

Basic Network Settings

In most cases, no network configuration is required to access the GV-Cloud services. Only when your firewall or ISP restricts outbound connections do you need to open the following default ports for remote connections.

iSpy Software User Guide, iSpy is the world’s most popular open source video surveillance application. It’s compatible with the the vast majority of consumer webcams and IP cameras. With more than 2 million users worldwide, iSpy works with more cameras and devices than anything else on the market.

Using iSpy you can do pretty much anything, from protecting your business and home with realtime SMS and Twitter alerts to scanning the skies for UFOs, nanny cams, machinery monitoring, neighbourhood watch, iSpy does it all! The best thing about iSpy though is that it’s open source and can therefore leverage some of the best open source libraries around representing literally millions of man hours of work – code that isn’t available to proprietary developers. No wonder iSpy is the most popular and downloaded home and business security and surveillance application in the world! It’s not just us saying that – check out our feedback.

This manual is a detailed guide to how iSpy works, what it can do and how you can get the most out of it. New software can seem daunting at first so we’ve put a lot of effort in to cover the most common scenarios along with comprehensive coverage of every feature of the software. iSpy has been designed to be easy to use although that simplicity belies the complexity under the hood – iSpy is capable of much more than just motion detection!

Throughout this guide we assume you have an iSpyConnect subscription and so have access to remote services, alerts, remote commands and the full feature set of the web side of iSpy. Without an online services subscription you are missing out on a large part of the functionality available within iSpy and iSpyConnect. Choose a subscription.

Supported Operating Systems

iSpy currently works on Windows based PCs only (both x86 and 64 bit versions). iSpy has been tested on Windows 7, 8 and 10 but may work on other Windows variants that support the .Net v4 Framework.

Recommended Hardware

Hardware recommendations vary a lot depending on how many cameras and microphones you are going to be using at any given time. A modern PC with 2GB of RAM and 200 GB of free hard disk space should be more than capable of running 4 cameras simultaneously at 320 x 240 resolution.

Performance Tips

iSpy will let you add an unlimited number of cameras and microphones – right up to the point where your computer cannot cope and will crash. Keep an eye on the performance counters on the status bar of iSpy as they will tell you when you are running out of memory or CPU. Note that CPU can spike when recording video and encoding. There are a number of things you can do to squeeze better performance out of iSpy:

1.You can increase the number of cameras by decreasing the framerate of each camera

2.You can increase the number of cameras by decreasing the resolution of each camera – one 1280 x 960 camera requires the same processing power of 4 cameras at 640 x 480 cameras or 16 cameras at 320 x 240

3.Having a dedicated PC running iSpy ensures that user interaction or other software won’t interrupt the video processing tasks.

4.Use a 64 bit version of iSpy instead of a 32 bit version if you have a 64 bit PC (improves CPU and increases available memory)

5.Save to AVI files instead of MP4 files on the recording tab of your cameras – this takes a lot less CPU (approx. half). You can download the AVI videos through the website but you wont be able to play them over the web/ mobile.

6.Reduce the Max Redraw Rate in settings to save CPU on resizing the live video feeds.

7.Set Buffer Frames on the recording tab to 0 – any buffering means that ispy is converting frames to JPEG images even when not recording.

8.If using grid views minimise the video feeds in ispy using view – auto layout objects – minimise to save on graphics processing.

You can also set a maximum CPU target value in settings. By default this is set to 90%. This means that when your CPU usage goes over 90% iSpy will start reducing the framerates of your cameras to help protect against a crash. Once the CPU drops back below 90% iSpy will increase the framerates again. Common causes for this are multiple simultaneous recordings or scheduled tasks like disk defragmenting.

Of course the better the hardware the better results you will get from iSpy. Using iSpyConnect you can connect multiple computers to one online account with a web based management interface that allows iSpy to scale up to any number of monitored cameras and microphones. A few of our users are monitoring over 150 cameras simultaneously via iSpyConnect. To work with multiple computers you must assign each computer a different external port address. See Multiple Computers for more information.

Agent DVR USER Guide

Agent DVR is a standalone replacement for iSpy that runs as a service, uses less CPU and features a web user interface that is accessible from anywhere with no port forwarding required!

We recommend that you use either iSpy or Agent – you can use both but it may cause issues with device drivers and network access.

Tip: Click the Menu button above to show/ hide the userguide index.

Using Agent DVR

Agent does not have a windows forms user interface like iSpy does. The user interface is all browser based via the local portal, web portal or mobile applications

Agent runs it’s own webserver. By default this is running at http://localhost:8090 on the PC running Agent (although it may be using a different port if that wasn’t available or was changed when it was installed – see the link “Agent UI” on the desktop on Windows). Agent will also work over your local network – you can use private IP addresses or computer names to access Agent locally (examples: http://192.168.1.10:8090 or http://nvr:8090). You may need to open your firewall to Agent for your local network.

Getting Started

Once you have the local UI open you can start adding devices to Agent. To add your first device click on the red Edit button in the UI:

You can use the top left menu to navigate Agent’s interfaces. The padlock indicates whether Agent is armed or not (will generate alerts). Click it to toggle. A green unlocked padlock means it’s disarmed. The icon opens a menu to configure your Agent server settings. The menu next to that provides links to all the content views in Agent. The icon will change depending on which view you are currently working with.

Agent has help built into it – click on the “?” icon at top right of nearly all panels and menus to access contextual help.

Tip: Enable shortcut keys in Account menu – Theme Settings. “C” opens the Commands menu, “S” opens the server menu. Numeric digits open the various views. Enable Tool-Tips and mouse-over the bottom controls in the UI to show additional shortcut keys.

Any issues? First thing to check is the logs at /logs.html on the local server. That will give you details about any problems Agent is having. If that doesn’t help please feel free to jump onto our Reddit group and ask a question – include the logs and steps to reproduce the problem if possible.

The Agent DVR application has been translated into English, Arabic, Bengali, Czech, Danish, German, Spanish, Finnish, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Polish, Portugese, Russian, Swedish, Mandarin and Taiwanese.

To change the language, click on Account – Language.

Installing

Download Agent DVR from here and run the installer. Agent runs as a service or as a console application on Windows 7+, Linux X64 (tested with Ubuntu 18.04+), OSX (+M1), Arm and Arm64 based operating systems (like Raspberry Pi).

Once Agent is running, you can access it via most web browsers at http://localhost:8090

Installing (offline/ manual) on Windows

If for some reason you can’t use the installer from the download page (eg: no internet on the target device) then you can install AgentDVR on Windows offline instead. Note that the computer you install Agent DVR on will need to have network hardware installed and active for it to be able to start the server. Follow these steps:

• Get the latest download location by calling the API: Download Location (Windows). Copy the link in the response and paste it into the browser URL bar to download it (the link is the text starting with https://)

• Download the zip file (the download link in the response starts with https://…)

• Unzip this file on the target computer into a folder

• Run (double-click) agent-install-service.bat

• Double click AgentTray.exe to start the tray app (optional). To have AgentTray start on startup you will need to add it to the startup folder.

• For LAN access you will need to add an exception to the windows firewall for the Agent.exe application

• Open a web browser at http://localhost:8090 to start

Updating

Before updating Agent make sure you backup your configuration – either copy the files in Agent/Media/XML or export them via the web interface via server menu – backup/ restore.

If you have a business license or a subscription you can update Agent by clicking on the server menu and “Update Agent” at the top (will only display if an update is available).

To update Agent for Linux or OSX manually see the update instructions on the readme page of the install scripts

To update Agent for Windows manually just re-run the installer from the download page.

Uninstalling

If you installed Agent using the installer it will be in the add/ remove programs list on Windows. Use that to uninstall it. If it’s not there:

If Agent is running as a service then stop the service:

• Windows: double click agent-uninstall-service.bat in the C:/Program Files/Agent directory. Right click and quit the AgentTray application in the task bar.

• Linux: Open a terminal and run
sudo systemctl stop AgentDVR.service
sudo systemctl disable AgentDVR.service

• OSX: Open a terminal and run :
sudo launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.ispy.agent.dvr.plist
sudo rm -f /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.ispy.agent.dvr.plist

To remove the Agent DVR files just delete the Agent directory. By default Agent DVR is installed to C:\Program Files\Agent on Windows. On Linux/ OSX it will be installed wherever you ran the install script.

Troubleshooting Install

If the installer on Windows fails to complete and Agent doesn’t start or you are having issues accessing Agent or you need to use functionality that isn’t available when running as a windows service (like some GPU drivers and desktop monitoring) then you can run Agent from a command prompt:

• Stop the Agent service if it is running: Click Start – Run – Type “services.msc” – press enter. Right click “Agent” in the list and click Stop. You can prevent it from starting as a service when you reboot by right clicking on Agent, click Properties and set the startup type to “Disabled”. Click Apply and OK.

• Open a console window: Click Start – Type “cmd”, right click on “Command Prompt” and click “Run as administrator”

• Change directory to the Agent directory. Usually this would be “cd C:\Program Files\Agent”

• Run Agent DVR as a console application – type “Agent.exe” – press enter

Agent will then tell you if there are any problems starting and what local port it is running on. You can quit Agent at any time by pressing the enter key. When Agent is running in the console it is able to use more GPU devices and can record from the Desktop.

If you get an error like The type initializer for ‘Emgu.CV.Cuda.CudaInvoke’ threw an exception. on Windows you will need to install the Windows Media Feature Pack for your OS

If there is an anti virus app or firewall blocking Agent from listening on a local port then you may need to add Agent.exe to a safe list or open the port it is listening on in the local firewall.

If you are using a Windows N variant you will need to install the media feature pack for Windows N

On OSX, Linux and Raspberry Pi your system may not have some required libraries installed and Agent may fail to start with an error like libcvextern.so could not be found. You will need to use ldd or “objdump -r –dylibs-used /path/to/failed/library” on OSX to find which libraries are missing. To do this, open a terminal window, change to the Agent directory and run ldd libcvextern.so (or whatever library is causing issues). The output should tell you which dependencies need to be installed. Please let us know what’s needed and what operating system you are using so we can update our docs.

Corrupted Video / Playback Issues

Agent defaults to using UDP to connect to cameras. UDP is a fast network protocol which prioritises real-time, low delay video. Unfortunately UDP doesn’t have any error correction built into it so any electronic noise from faulty cabling to interference from power cables, amplifiers or other sources can result in corrupted video by the time the signal gets to Agent. You can switch to TCP instead which does have error correction built into it – but at the cost of some buffering and potential lag on the live feed. To switch to TCP instead, edit the camera, click to edit the Source on the General tab, select “FFMPEG” in the menu at top right and change the RTSP mode to TCP.

If you can’t get a good connection other options to try are available under General – Edit Source Type:

• Set RTSP Mode to TCP and check Prefer TCP on the FFmpeg tab

• Try CPU decoding instead of GPU decoding on the Advanced tab

• Set the Decoder to VLC (if VLC is available) on the Advanced tab

Corrupted video can result from too much noise on the network or when your computer is under too much load to decode the live video stream. Other ways to avoid it are to use a lower resolution video feed from the camera or to check the Resize option on the Adjustments tab when editing the camera.

Reolink Cameras are known to be susceptible to corrupted RTSP streams. You may get better results by going into the camera’s own User Interface and setting the encoder to use H264 instead of H265 (if available). Reolink cameras sometimes have alternate video endpoints that use the RTMP:// protocol instead of RTSP://. You can try using the Add Camera wizard in Agent DVR to scan the camera for RTMP:// options instead.

Stuttering Video? Some cameras (notably Reolink) emit frames in groups of audio and video which can result in stuttering live and recorded playback. To work around this, edit the camera, click to configure the videosource settings, select the FFMPEG tab and set a value for Max Delay (for example 4 seconds) and a value for Max Reorder Queue Size (for example 500).

Accessing Logs

Agent provides formatted live logs on the local server at /logs.html (so on a default install at http://localhost:8090/logs.html). As of version 3.5.6.0+ Agent also saves the 5 most recent raw logs in .json format to your Media location (on Windows that’s C:\Program Files\Agent\Media). You can use these for debugging and getting more information on what Agent is doing. You can also download the raw logs remotely via the server menu in the web portal. Feel free to jump on our Community boards to ask questions!

Upgrading from iSpy

• Save your object list in iSpy (File – Save object list)

• Close iSpy (make sure it’s not running in the task bar)

• Install Agent DVR

• Click on the Server icon in Agent DVR (top left), Backup/ Restore, Upload and choose the file you saved. Note this will only update your object list – you may need to adjust server settings manually.

• Click on the account menu in Agent DVR and Remote Access to pair it with the remote portal (optional)

• If you have multiple servers connected using the old version and the new version you’ll need to swap between them using the account menu (top right of Agent DVR) and “Change Platform”.

• It’s recommended you uninstall iSpy from Add/ Remove programs after you have setup Agent DVR as they may conflict for device access.

Moving to a new Computer

Windows

• Use Add/ Remove programs to uninstall Agent DVR or if not listed there then double click agent-uninstall-service.bat in the Agent directory (C:/program files/Agent) on your old computer

• Download and install Agent on your new PC

• On your new PC, click Start – Run, type “services.msc” press Enter. Find Agent in the list, right click it and click Stop.

• Copy the /Media directory from your old Agent directory to the new Agent directory. This might be very large so you may need to use a large USB drive to transfer it. To only copy the configuration you can just copy the Agent/Media/XML directory (excluding Media/XML/fileDB.db3)

• On your new PC, click Start – Run, type “services.msc” press Enter. Find Agent in the list, right click it and click Start.

• You can optionally delete the original Agent directory from your old PC when everything is running OK

Linux

• In a new terminal window run (on your old PC):
sudo systemctl stop AgentDVR.service
sudo systemctl disable AgentDVR.service

• Download and install Agent on your new PC

• On your new PC, open a terminal window and run
sudo systemctl stop AgentDVR.service

• On your new computer, open a terminal window and run
sudo systemctl start AgentDVR.service

Important

If you have a subscription you will now need to connect the new instance to your account – click on the Server icon in the local UI and Remote Access to pair it with your online account.

If you have a business license you will need to copy the license code to the new PC. See your license receipt email for instructions.

If you have a basic subscription and have 2 instances of Agent connected to your account only one will be visible on the web portal – you will need to stop the first one for the other to connect successfully.

If you had setup drives and storage directories on your old PC you will need to go into settings on the new PC and configure the storage settings for your new environment

Remove an instance from my account

You can either just uninstall Agent or if you want to keep it running just not connected to your account then:

• Stop Agent:
Windows: click Start – Run – Type “services.msc” Find Agent in the list, right click -> click stop.
Linux: open a terminal window and run sudo systemctl stop AgentDVR.service
OSX: open a terminal window and run sudo launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.ispy.agent.dvr.plist

• Run agent-reset-account.bat on Windows or agent-reset-account.sh on linux/ OSX. If this file doesn’t exist then delete the file Media/serial.txt and edit the file Media/XML/config.xml to remove the UserIdent element from that file and save it.

• Restart Agent:
Windows: click Start – Run – Type “services.msc” Find Agent in the list, right click -> click start.
Linux: open a terminal window and run sudo systemctl start AgentDVR.service
OSX: open a terminal window and run sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.ispy.agent.dvr.plist

Using Claim Codes

99% of the time you won’t need a claim code – they’re only used if you have installed Agent DVR on an operating system without a GUI and have retrieved a claim code by using the command line options. To connect your server to website services you just need to click on the server icon in the local Agent DVR UI and Remote Access. This will pass through the code to the website automatically.

Move instance to another account

• Remove the instance from the existing account

• Navigate to the local web interface. Click on the server icon, remote access

• Pair Agent with your new account

Reset local login

If you’ve forgotten your login for local Agent DVR you can reset it (back to no login):

• Run agent-reset-local-login.bat on Windows or agent-reset-local-login.sh on linux/ OSX (you might need to make this file executable by calling

chmod +x agent-reset-local-login.sh

Remote Access

Agent DVR uses WebRTC to setup remote connections so doesn’t require any port forwarding setup and will work even over mobile internet connections. To connect remotely you will need to pair Agent with your iSpyConnect account. To do this, click on the server icon in the local web interface and “Remote Access”. You’ll be redirected to the online portal.

Important: You do not need to install Agent DVR on other computers or setup port forwarding for remote access. Just open up a web browser on any device at https://www.ispyconnect.com/app once Agent is connected. Remote access to Agent is a subscription service.

Subscription not applied?: Usually payment notifications come through immediately and you are good to go – but sometimes it can take a few days for things to clear. With Agent DVR you don’t need a license code so no need to waiit for one to appear in your inbox – it’s all automatically done on our side.

If your trial had ended before you subscribed you will need to use the local UI of Agent DVR and click on the server icon and Remote Access button. This will tell Agent to reconnect to your account.

Is Agent is connecting with the same account you have upgraded? If it isn’t you will need to change it to link with the right account Any problems? Please Contact Us

No UI?: If you have downloaded Agent DVR to a VPS or a PC with no graphical UI you can still setup Agent for remote access by calling “Agent.exe register” on Windows or “agent-register.sh” on Linux/ OSX. This will give you a claim code you can use to access Agent from another PC.

Can’t connect?: In rare instances a connection may fail due to content filtering on a VPN connection. You’ll need to add exceptions in your content filtering software for *.ispyconnect.com and *.azurewebsites.net

Why use the website?: Agent uses webrtc for media connections which gets around most firewalls and port forwarding issues. On your local network your web browser can connect directly to Agent but for remote access web browsers can require SSL connections, STUN, TURN and relay servers for connection establishment which we provide via ispyconnect.com

Port Forwarding Access

Port forwarding is disabled with the free version of Agent DVR. To enable port forward access you will need to purchase a license. Note that port forward access isn’t guaranteed to work as some networks and firewalls will block the traffic that webrtc needs to establish a connection. If you have issues accessing Agent via port forwarding check that your firewall is not blocking the application and you have forwarded the following ports (both in and out) and unblocked them from any firewall or antivirus:

• 8090 TCP/UDP for the web interface

• 3478 TCP/UDP for the STUN/ TURN server

• 50000-50010 TCP/UDP for the Web RTC connections

LAN Access

To access Agent over your LAN you may need to open up several ports in your firewall/ antivirus as Agent uses Web RTC for connections:

• 8090 TCP/UDP for the web interface

• 3478 TCP/UDP for the STUN/ TURN server

• 50000-50010 TCP/UDP for the Web RTC connections

To secure LAN access setup a login under Server Settings – Users. If you forget this password you can reset it by stopping Agent and calling “Agent.exe reset-local-login” on Windows or “agent-reset-local-login.sh” on OSX and Linux.

Some browser extensions can also block access so if you have issues connecting locally try a different browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox and the latest version of Edge should all work). Also try disabling any extensions and clearing your cache.

Passing in Parameters

You can add parameters to the url of the Agent DVR UI to customize it:

Set default theme options (theme options are available in the account menu – theme settings):

Auto play audio on load (v3.7.7.0+ may also require changing browser settings):

Adding Cameras

Click on the Server icon at the top left of the Agent UI and “Add Device” under Devices. Or in Live View click on the Edit icon at the bottom right and “Add New Device”

Choose from the available list. To start the wizard, which walks you through discovering devices on the local network and uses the Agent camera database to connect to your camera click on “IP Camera Wizard”. If you have an ONVIF compatible camera click on “ONVIF”. If you have an RTSP or MJPEG or other URL already for your camera click on Video Source or if you are adding an audio source like a local USB microphone or other network audio source click on “Audio Source”.

Configuration

The second step when adding a new device is to setup some basic features. If you check “Alerts” Agent will setup your camera with a simple motion detector so it’s ready to raise Alert events. To record when Agent detects motion check the “Record on Detect” option. If you have a high resolution camera you can check “Resize” to reduce the resolution of it and save some CPU usage. “Record Raw” means that Agent will record the stream directly from the camera to disk without encoding it which can dramatically reduce resource usage. Raw Record is only available for network video sources (not USB cameras or other local devices like Desktop streams). All of these options can be edited later.

Using the Wizard

Start by typing the name of your camera manufacturer. Agent will provide suggestions. Click on a suggestion to select it. If your manufacturer isn’t known or isn’t listed you can choose “Unlisted” or if the model isn’t listed you can choose : Unlisted. Agent will use this to narrow down the addresses it will try to get a video connection (using just Unlisted may take a while as Agent has a database of tens of thousands of cameras).

Next enter your camera username and password. These should be the details you enter into the web or app interface to login to your camera (not your iSpyConnect.com login details!)

Enter the Channel (usually 0 for IP cameras but if you have a DVR with multiple cameras attached to it this might be a different number)

Next you will need to find or enter the Network Address of your camera. Agent can discover local addresses automatically. There’s usually not a lot of information available about the devices from the network scan unfortunately so this might take a bit of trial and error. Click on the Device name to open the address up in a web browser (if you’re on the same network Agent is running on) and if it’s your IP camera click “Use” next to it. Alternatively you can enter your network address manually. This should be formatted like http://IP-ADDRESS:PORT or https://WEB-ADDRESS:PORT if you are adding a camera from an internet address. Click the icon to make Agent re-scan your network for devices.

Tip: It’s important to setup your IP cameras with static IP addresses on your local network. If the IP address changes then Agent won’t be able to connect to it. You can usually do this via your router configuration. There’s a good guide for this here

When you have selected an address Agent will use the information you provided to scan the camera for available video endpoints. The ones it finds are provided in a list. Click “Use” to select it and finish adding the camera.

Tip: Try to choose an IP Camera option (instead of MJPEG or JPEG). IP Camera options frequently have audio and better framerates.

If nothing is found double check the details you entered are correct. You may need to contact the manufacturer and ask them how to connect directly to their camera video streams and then add a device using “Video Source” and manually configure the video stream URL instead of using the Wizard, or if it supports ONVIF then add it as an ONVIF device instead.

Live View

The live view is where you watch live streams from your devices. You can setup multiple live views in Agent and add whatever devices you like to them. Agent will intelligently arrange your devices to maximise the available space on whatever device you are using.

Panel markers

The live view has some markers to provide device state and recording status:

• Blue border on left and bottom – This signifies which device is currently selected. The controls at the bottom left will apply to this device. Click on a device to select it.

• Red “REC” symbol at top right – This device is currently recording

• Red flashing border at top and right – The device is in an alert state

• Orange flashing border at top and right – The device has detected motion

Buttons/ Icons

The live view has icons along the bottom for controlling the selected device and the view itself. Buttons on the left control the current active device in the UI and on the right control the current View. The buttons on the left can change depending on what type of device is selected and what state it is currently in. Mouse-over the buttons to see a tool-tip explaining what they do and optional shortcut keys.

Buttons you may see in the device (left) section include:

• – Power on / off the device (enable / disable it in Agent)

• – Edit the device

• – Start/ Stop manual recording

• – Take a photo

• – Trigger a manual alert

• – Open tasks for the device

• – Go to this devices recordings

• – Go to this devices photos

• – Play back last 20 seconds from the current recording (only works if the device is currently recording in Raw mode)

Buttons you may see in the view (right) section include:

• – Open the volume control

• Edit the view (arrange devices)

• – Start/ Stop playback of the live view

• – Open the views menu

• – Start/ Stop talk

• – Show/ Hide the PTZ controller (you can change the type of PTZ controller that is displayed in the account menu – theme settings)

• – Show PTZ presets

• – Previous View

• – Next View

Using Views

Click the views icon at bottom right to open the views menu. Each view shows a preview of the layout that is associated with it. Click on a view button to switch to that view. If you set Cycle to a non-zero number like 3, Agent will automatically cycle through any views containing devices every 3 seconds. Default View sets the view that Agent first displays when you open the browser.

To edit the view (add devices to the view, rename, change layout etc) click on the edit icon at bottom right.

To manually cycle through configured views from the live screen use the and controls (note: these will only show views you have added devices to)

Using the PTZ Controller

Click on the icon to show/ hide the PTZ controller. Click on a device in the live view to select it and then you can use the PTZ controller to control it. Make sure you have configured PTZ on the device – edit the device and see See PTZ.

• Click and drag on the background of the control to move it around the live viewer.

• Click and drag the round joystick controls with the mouse or touch and move them to control the PTZ on your camera.

• With the PTZ controller displayed you can use the numpad arrow keys and numpad +/- to zoom.

• Click or tap on the blue arrows or + / – on the zoom control for step movements.

• You can show/ hide the PTZ control with the middle mouse button.

• For digital PTZ you can use the mouse wheel on desktop to zoom in and out or pinch and swipe gestures on touch devices without the PTZ control showing. When zoomed in you can click and drag to move the zoomed area around.

Tips:

• To maximise a device click on it to select it then click it again. If you have setup your camera with a high res record URL and a low res live URL you can set Agent to use the High res stream when your device is maximised – to do this edit the device, click to edit video source settings (“…” button next to Source Type on the General tab) and select the Advanced tab. Check the option “Use record stream when maximised”.

• Click on a device to select it. When a device is selected you can use the device controls at bottom left to switch it on/ off, start/ stop recording, take photos, trigger manual alerts or edit and run custom tasks.

• You can add microphones as well as cameras to the live view – Configure how the microphone displays by editing the “Display Style” when editing the Microphone on the General tab, you can choose from Analyzer, Level or Historical.

• Use the menu at bottom right to access other features like RTMP broadcast, start talk, play/ pause live video and lock/ unlock the layout positions.

• Agent indicates which device is selected with a highlight line around the left and bottom of the device. Alerting devices will also have red flashing lines around the top and right.

• If you assign a location to your camera it will also show next to the camera name and the background and border color will be set to the location color.

1.4Installing GV-VMS

Before You Start

For optimal performance of your system, it is important to follow these recommendations before installing the GV-VMS:

•It is highly recommended to use separate hard disks; one for installing Windows OS and GV-VMS, while the other for storing recorded files and system logs.

•When formatting the hard disks, select NTFS as the file system.

•When GV-VMS is running, it is not recommended to perform disk defragmentation at the same time.

•Since the size of transmitted data from IP cameras may be quite large and reach beyond the transfer rate of a hard disk, you should note the total of recording frame rates that you can assign, as listed below:

Note: The data above was determined using the bitrate listed above, hard disks with average R/W speed above 110 MB/s.

The frame rate limit is based on the resolution of video sources. The higher the resolutions, the lower frame rates you can assign to a single hard disk. In other words, the higher the frame rates you wish to record, the more hard disks you’ll need to. For detailed information of recording frame rates, refer to the user’s manual of the IP camera that you wish to connect to.

Installing GV-VMS

1.Download GV-VMS by selecting Primary Applications from the drop-down list and clicking Download of GV-VMS on GeoVision’s website.

2.If you are using a USB dongle, insert the dongle to your computer. See 1.1 License for connections requiring dongle license(s).

3.To install USB driver, select Driver, F/W, Patch from the drop-down list and click Download “ of GV-Series Card Driver / GV-USB Device Driver.

• To verify the driver is installed correctly, go to Windows Device Manager and

expand DVR-Devices. You should see the GV-Series USB Protector.

1.5Running GV-VMS

1.When you run GV-VMS for the first time, the system will prompt you for a Supervisor ID and Password.

2.Type the desired ID, Password and a Hint to remind you of the password.

3.Optionally click E-Mail List to enter e-mail addresses used to receive the password when forgotten.

4.Click OK. The main screen of GV-VMS and a dialog box appears.

5.To choose how to save your system database, select Microsoft Office Access Database or Microsoft SQL Server and fill out the required fields.

6.Upon first-time starting of the GV-VMS, you are prompted with the Automatic Setup dialog box to assist you in quickly adding IP devices to the GV-VMS

GV-Eye Installation Guide, With GV-Eye mobile app, you can connect to GeoVision IP devices and software from your iOS or Android mobile devices to remotely watch live view, play back recordings, trigger outputs, take snapshots and more.

GV-Eye

Using GV-Eye, you can access GV-IP devices and software from your mobile devices, to watch live views, play back recordings, trigger outputs, take snapshots and more.

IMPORTANT: Starting from GV-Eye V2.7, users can connect to GV-VMS (V17.4 / V18.1 or later), GV-DVR / NVR (V8.8.0 or later) and GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway (V2.0.0 or later) via GV-Relay QR-code. This is a paid service that results in connecting to GV-SNVR via QR-code scan to be charged as well.

Installing GV-Eye

You can download GV-Eye from the App Store or Google Play and install the application.

Upon first-time startup, you will be directed to a dialog box to enable or disable Demo Mode. Select Yes to enable Demo Mode to be guided through the key features of GV-Eye. Select No to disable Demo Mode and the main page appears.

GV-Relay QR Code

GV-Eye can be connected to GV-IP devices and software under the same LAN, through the Internet or by scanning of the GV-Relay QR code. The following sections focus on connecting by GV-Relay QR-code, which avoids the precondition of configuring for Windows Firewall and port forwarding. To do this, the binding of a GV-Relay account is required, see 5.1 Setting up GV-Relay Account.

Note:

This function is only supported by GV-DVR / NVR (V8.8.0 or later), GV-VMS (V17.4 / V18.1 or later), GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway (V2.0.0 or later), GV-SNVR0411 (firmware V2.00 or later), GV-SNVR0811 (firmware V2.30 or later), GV-SNVR1600 (firmware V1.20 or later), GV-SNVR0812, GV-SNVR1611, GV-SNVR1612, GV-SNVR3203, GV-SNVR6403, and UA-DVR / SNVR.
The GV-Relay data is a paid service and if users don’t want to purchase data after the free quota given is used up, they may connect manually, see 6. Manual & Automatic Connection for GV-IP Devices and Software.
All images streamed via GV-Relay QR-code connection shall consume the data within the GV-Relay account according to their resolutions and fps, and you won’t be able to access such streams once the data is used up.
To use this function, the GV-Software must be connected to the Internet.
To connect manually or detect for GV-IP devices under the same LAN, see 6 Manual &

Automatic Connection for GV-IP Devices and Software.

1. Setting up GV-Relay Account

For connecting by the QR-code scan, you must first set up a GV-Relay account. To do this, tap □ on the main page to access the settings page and tap Add a binding account under Account Management. The following page appears.

Type a valid e-mail address under Mailbox binding to use it as your GV-Relay account.
Tap Get verification Code. The Email verification page appears.
Upon receiving of the verification code, enter the 4-digit code within its validity period of 10 minutes, as illustrated below and tap verification.

Alternatively, tap Google to log into your Google account.
Once successfully bound, the e-mail or Google account is used as your GV-Relay account and tracks the amount of data available, for viewing images through relay.

Note: All GV-Relay accounts are given 10.00 GB of free data every month and additional data can be purchased as desired, see 5.3.1 Purchasing Relay Data.

To connect to GV-Software by scanning GV-Relay QR code, see 5.2 Connecting via GV-Relay QR Code.

1. Connecting via GV-Relay QR Code

You can connect to GV-Software or devices by scanning its GV-Relay QR code. To do this, follow the steps below.

For connecting by the QR-code scan, you must first set up a GV-Relay account, see
1. Setting up GV-Relay Account.
To use this function, the GV-Software or devices must be connected to the Internet.
For the list of GV-Software or devices supported, refer to Note 1 in 5. GV-Relay QR

Code

1. On the GV-Software or device, go to its corresponding service / settings page, as described below:

For GV-VMS, click Toolbar > Network > Mobile Server > QR Code, select Enable and click Start. By default, GV-Relay uses the port value of 443.

Note: When port 443 has been used by other servers, such as for WebCam SSL or RTSP, select port 9443 for GV-Relay connection instead.

For GV-DVR / NVR, click Network > Webcam Server > QR Code, select Enable and click OK for the changes to take effect. Note that the Mobile Server (Webcam Server > Mobile) must be enabled first. Once enabled, close the dialog box and scan the QR code within WebCam, which can be accessed via Windows notification.

For GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway, click Server > Video Gateway, select Yes to enable Video Relay and click Save for the changes to take effect.

For GV-SNVR0400F/0411/0811/0812/1600/1611/1612, click Setting > Service >

Mobile APP, select Enable and click Apply for the changes to take effect.

For GV-SNVR3203/6403, click Network > Basic > Mobile APP. The QR code is shown as below.

For UA-DVR / SNVR, click System > Information > Information. The QR code is shown as below.

Tap Add on the Camera / Group List page (No. 3, 4 Main Page) to access the Add

Tap QR-code scan . The QR code reader appears.

Hold your device over the QR code on the GV-Software to the point where the QR code is clearly visible. When the scanning is successful, the following page appears. Type a desired Name and the login Username and Password of the GV-Software and tap Get Information.

All IP devices from the GV-Software are displayed. Select the devices you want to be

imported to GV-Eye and click Save.

All of the selected IP devices are added to the GV-Eye under a Host Group.

5.3 Managing GV-Relay Account

When you are logged into your GV-Relay account, the following Account Management page appears.

The data of a GV-Relay account can be shared to other mobile devices for GV-Relay streaming on those devices. To share the data from device A to device B, follow the steps below:

On device A, tap Share account barcode (No. 3, 5.3 Managing GV-Relay Account) The Share account QR code, with its validity period, appears.

On device B, start GV-Eye and tap □ > Add a binding account and tap the QR Code button l~ .
Scan the QR code from Step 1 using device B. Once successfully scanned, the data from device A is shared to device B.

All images streamed by GV-Relay connection on both device A and B will consume the data from device A.

Removing Shared Device(s)

To remove a shared device, tap Shared device list (No. 4, 5.3 Managing GV-Relay Account) and select the account you want to remove.

6.1 Required Configurations on GV-Software before Connecting

For GV-Software to be accessible by GV-Eye, the related services and the corresponding port(s) must first be enabled. Refer to the following sections depending on the type of GV-Software in which you want to connect:

Note:

There are no required configurations for GV-SNVR to be accessible by GV-Eye. If the GV-SNVR is behind a router, see 6.3 Port Forwarding and 6.4 Manual Connection, respectively, for connecting to GV-Eye through the Internet. Otherwise see 6.5 Automatic Connection for connecting to GV-Eye within the same LAN.
While there are also no required configurations for GV-Mobile Server, if it is behind an active Windows Firewall, make sure its mobile service is allowed for communication. See 6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication.

On your GV-VMS, click Home > Toolbar ÉS > Network on > Mobile Service.

The Mobile Server Lite dialog box appears.

Keep the default Server Port of 56000 or modify if necessary and click Start.

Click Home kiJ > Toolbar bS > Network rt to make sure Mobile Service is

enabled, and optionally click Control Center Server and enable Remote ViewLog

Service to allow remote playback through GV-Eye.

IMPORTANT: After the abovementioned settings are set, if the PC has an active Windows Firewall, the related services must also be enabled on the Windows Firewall for GV-VMS to be accessible by GV-Eye. See 6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication.

- 1. Connection Settings on GV-DVR / NVR

On the main screen of GV-DVR / NVR, click Network and select Webcam Server. The Server Setup dialog box appears.
In the Mobile tab, select the upper-left checkbox to enable mobile service and its corresponding ports. Keep the default Stream Port of 56000 or modify if necessary.

Optionally select Run ViewLog Server in the General tab to allow remote playback through GV-Eye.

Click OK. The GV-DVR / NVR can now be added to GV-Eye.

IMPORTANT: After the abovementioned settings are set, if the PC has an active Windows Firewall, the related services must also be enabled on the Windows Firewall for GV-DVR / NVR to be accessible by GV-Eye. See 6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication.

- 1. Connection Settings on GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway

For GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway to be accessible by GV-Eye, its Recording Server and Video Gateway services must first be enabled. Note that these two services are enabled by default.

On the main screen of GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway, click Server > Service

Make sure Start is selected for both Recording Server and Video Gateway and click Save.
Optionally click Server > Video Gateway ® to change the Connect Port,

otherwise keep its default value of 11000.

Click Save. The GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway can now be added to GV-Eye.

IMPORTANT: After the abovementioned settings are set, if the PC has an active Windows Firewall, the related services must also be enabled on the Windows Firewall for GV-Recording / Video Gateway to be accessible by GV-Eye. See 6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication.

6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication

For GV-Software installed on a PC with active Windows Firewall to be accessible by GV-Eye, the related services / programs must first be enabled:

Open Control Panel from the Windows Start menu, click System and Security >

Windows Firewall and click Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.

The Allowed Programs dialog box appears.

On the Allowed Programs list, select to allow the related services / programs depending on the type of GV-Software to which you want to access.

For GV-VMS / DVR / NVR, allow GeoRSWLite.exe, MobileServerServiceLite.exe and ViewLog Server for both private and public networks.
For GV-Recording Server / Video Gateway, allow GeoRecordingServer.exe and ViewLog Server for both private and public networks.
For GV-Mobile Server, allow GeoRSWLite.exe and MobileServerServiceLite.exe for both private and public networks.
Click OK. The GV-Software can now be communicated through Windows Firewall.

If any one of the above programs cannot be found within the list, click Allow another

program… > Browse and:

6.3 Port Forwarding

If the GV-IP devices and/or software to which you are trying to connect are behind a router, you need to configure for port forwarding.

IMPORTANT: Prior to port forwarding, first make sure you have a public IP accessible through the Internet. This can be done by one of the following:

Register for a static public IP address from your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Assign a domain name to your dynamic public IP address through the router’s DDNS settings. Consult your router manufacturer for details.
For port forwarding depending on the brand and model of your router, click here.
Make sure the ports mapped coincide with the GV-IP devices and software to which you

want to connect:

After Port Forwarding is set, look for the GV-IP devices’ and / or software’s public IP address by typing “what is my ip” in a Web browser. Your Public IPv4 IP address is displayed within WhatIsMYIP.com.

6.4 Manual Connection

[General Mode]

Tap the GV-Eye icon H on the desktop of your mobile device. This page appears.

Tap the Add button ^]. This page appears.

[Easy Mode]

1. Tap the GV-Eye icon H on the desktop of your mobile device. This page appears.

and select Add Manually.

Tap the Add button

On the Add Device page, enter the IP address, port number, username and password of the GV-IP device or software and enter a name.

Type the local / public IP address or the domain name of the GV-IP device / software to which you want to connect, for within the LAN or through the Internet. For the public IP address, see Step 3, 6.3 Port Forwarding.

Camera 1

Only modify the Web Port of 80, which is the default web port for all GV-IP device / software, when the corresponding web port on the device / software to which you want to connect has been changed.
Type one of the below port values as Port, depending on the GV-IP device / software to which you want to connect.

Type the login Username and Password of the GV-IP device / software to which you want to connect.

Tap Test Connect. The total number of cameras and each installed GV-IP Cameras are displayed.
By default, all the installed cameras are selected. To change this setting, deselect the cameras by tapping the check marks next to the cameras, or tap Select to set the range of cameras to add.
Tap Save on the top-right corner. The selected cameras are added to Camera List.

6.5 Automatic Connection

For automatic connection, GV-IP devices and software must be within the same LAN as your GV-Eye. For connecting to GV-Software, the related settings on the respective software must first be configured, see 6.1 Required Configurations on GV-Software before Connecting.

Follow Step 1 to 2 in 6.4 Manual Connection to access the Add Device page.

To disconnect a live view, tap and hold the live view and drag the live view into the trash

can icon.

To remove an entry from the Camera List, glide the entry to the left and tap Delete.

To change the device information, tap the entry from the Camera List to modify. The

modified camera will be reconnected after you save the settings.

[Easy Mode]

Tap Search by Wifi. GeoVision IP devices and software under the same LAN will be detected.
Select the desired IP devices and type its ID and password.

Once connected, the live view of all channels will be displayed.

Group Management

Follow the steps below to create up to 100 different groups for your GV-IP devices. Note that this function is only applicable under General Mode.

1. In the Settings page (No. 6, 4.1 General Mode), tap Group Management.

On the Group Management page, tap Edit, and tap the name field to name the group.

To choose layouts for each group, tap the > sign. There are 6 pages in total with each displaying up to 16 channels of live view.

Playing Back Recordings
1. Accessing the Recorded Files

Make sure the following functions are enabled ahead to allow remote access from GV-Eye:

GV-DVR / NVR / GV-VMS: enable Remote ViewLog Service. See 6.1 Required Configurations on GV-Software before Connecting.
GV-IP Camera / GV-Video Server / GV-Compact DVR: enable ViewLog Server

Note:

If a router or firewall is installed with the remote servers and IP devices, ensure the corresponding playback port is open. For example, to play back the files from GV-DVR / NVR / VMS, open port 5552 on the router. For Windows Firewall settings see 6.2 Configuring Windows Firewall for Communication. For port forwarding and a full list of default port numbers, see 6.3 Port Forwarding.
To enable the Audio function for playback in GV-Eye, you must activate related Audio Settings in hosts.

GV-VMS: Setup > Audio Setting > enable Rec Audio and Round-the-Clock Audio options.

GV-DVR: Configure > A/V Settings > Audio Settings > enable Rec Audio and Round-the-Clock Audio options.

GV-SNVR0400F/0411/0811/0812/1600/1611/1612: Camera Settings > enable Audio.

The following models with recordings saved on the SD card do not support playback from the local storage: GV-ABL / TBL Series, GV-ADR / TDR Series, GV-AVD / TVD Series, GV-BLFC5800, GV-EBD Series, GV-EBFC5800, GV-FER5702, GV-PTZ5810-IR, GV-SD2322-IR / SD2722-IR / SD3732-IR / SD4825-IR / SD4834-IR, GV-TFD Series, UA-B580F3, and UA-IP cameras.
GV-Eye only supports single-channel playback.
A maximum of two GV-Eye connections are supported at a time for remote playback for the following UA-SNVR / HD DVR models: UA-SNVRL810-P, UA-SNVR1620-P, UA-XVL810 / 1610, and UA-XVR810 / 1620.

To access the recorded files:

1. From the live view page, tap n. This page appears.

10.4 Monitoring HDD Storage

To view the HDD storage status, tap the Info button O on the HDD settings page. The HDD Info page appears and displays the capacity.

Note:

This function is only supported by GV-IP Camera firmware V3.0 or later and GV-Target IP Camera firmware V1.02 or later.
For the camera with its storage path being assigned on the GV-NAS System, the HDD Info page displays the NAS storage capacity; for the camera without storage path assigned, the HDD Info page displays the SD card storage capacity.

[LAYOUT MANAGEMENT]

Group Management: Creates groups and arranges live view layouts. GV-Eye can receive up to 96 channels of live view from various GV-IP devices. Users can create up to 100 groups, and each group has 6 pages in total with each displaying up to 16 channels of live view. See 7. Group Management for details.
Demo Mode: Displays 3 channels of live view for you to experience the features of GV-Eye.

Note: If you enable Demo Mode, your current connection of IP-devices and layout settings of live view will be temporarily closed. Instead, 3 demo channels and default layout will be displayed. To resume your previous settings, disable Demo Mode.

[ADD CAMERA]

Default Username: Sets the default username when adding a new IP device to the Camera List. The default is admin.
Default Password: Sets the default password when adding a new IP device to the Camera List. The default is admin.
Auto Add to Live View: Automatically displays the added IP devices to live view. This function is disabled by default.

[LIVE VIEW SETTING]

Show Device Name: Displays device name on live view.
Show Device Time: Displays device time on live view.
Keep Image Ratio: Displays the live view in proportion to the device’s resolution.
Multi View Buffering: Enhances the smoothness of live view with multiple divisions. Note this function is for Android devices only.
ARM & EMAIL: Displays the alarm invocation and e-mail notification icons on live view.
Default HD: Displays the live view in HD quality video. This function is enabled by default.
360 View: Enables the panoramic view.
PTZ Speed: Changes the PTZ speed. Speed 1 is the slowest and speed 5 the fastest.
*Delete All Entries on Camera List: Click to delete all the entries from the Camera List of all groups.
*Export Camera List: Export the current camera list as a QR code image to the internal storage of smartphone.
*Import Camera List: Scan the QR code containing the camera list, previously exported, to be loaded into GV-Eye. Select Append to import a new camera list along with the existing one. Select Replace to replace all existing camera list with the newly imported list.
Edge Tool: Displays the edge settings icon on live view.

[ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT]

*Add a binding account: Logs into a GV-Relay Account, see 5. GV-Relay QR Code.

[PLAYBACK SETTING]

*Audio: Enable Audio function for video playback.
Hardware Acceleration: Enable Hardware Acceleration function to increase the smoothness of playback. Note this function is enabled by default and for Android devices only.

[SYSTEM SETTING]

*Disable Screen Off: Turns off sleep mode of the mobile device when the GV-Eye is running.

Note: Under Easy Mode, only the functions marked with the asterisk (*) symbol are available.

Defining the User Privilege of GV-VMS for GV-Eye

In GV-VMS, you can alter user privileges to determine which user account can access Video, Audio, PTZ, Monitor Start / Stop and I / O Output Control from mobile app GV-Eye.

Note: The function is only supported by GV-VMS V16.10.3 or later.

To set up the user privilege:

Click Home click the account ID, click Password Setup, and select Local Account

Edit and select the Web / Mobile tab.

Select or deselect Video, Audio, PTZ, Monitor Start / Stop and I / O Output Control of specific cameras to allow or deny the user the function.

For instance, firstly, on the Local Account Edit dialog box of GV-VMS, you can deny User1

the access of PTZ. Then, when you log on GV-Eye with the ID and password of User1,

you will see that User1 cannot access PTZ on GV-Eye.

Connecting to Authentication Server

GV-Authentication Server is a central credential management system for you to manage multiple GV-VMS or GV-DVR / NVR systems. By connecting to GV-Authentication Server, you can access the cameras from multiple GV-VMS or GV-DVR / NVR systems with one Authentication user account on GV-Eye.

Note:

Other device connection functions on GV-Eye will be disabled while connecting to GV-Authentication Server.
This is only applicable to GV-Eye for iOS / Android V2.8 or later (under General Mode) and GV-Authentication Server V18.3 or later.

To create clients / user accounts in GV-Authentication Server:

To create a GV-Eye client, highlight Client List from the left pane and click Add A Client button.
To create one Authentication user account that has access rights to assigned GV-VMS or GV-DVR / NVR systems, select Account Setup > Password Setup. Refer to Creating User Accounts, 11.5 Authentication Server in GV-DVR / NVR User’s Manual, or 9.4 Authentication Server in GV-VMS User’s Manual.

3. Click the Start Service button on GV-Authentication Server.

To connect to GV-Authentication Server:

Click Settings □ > Auth Server. The following page appears.

Type IP Address, Port, Authorized ID, and Authorized Password of GV-Authentication Server.
Type the following connection information:

Select Get Auth Host List.

After GV-Authentication Server is successfully connected, you will be able to access the cameras from multiple GV-VMS or DVR / NVR systems assigned to the Authentication user account. You can proceed with desired configurations on these cameras.
