JF-Video Management Software (hereinafter referred to as VMS ) is latest developed client software for our products. The suppressible toolbar, succinct GUI and rich functionality make it very intelligent and user-friendly monitoring management software which can be used in various scenes.

This software could be used for connecting kinds of devices, such as DVS, DVR and so on. This introduction only presents the operation on software, if need detail function settings please refer to product specification.

VMS support three-level organization management system, user management and permissions management.

System data interaction use data interface, could support kinds of database flexibly, like SQL, MYSQL, XML and so on.

Support edit and add device by Excel table

Allows users to import or export devices using the binary files（filename extension：bin）,much more easier in coping with the maintenance of a large batch devices. which improves system’s useability and significantly reduces the workload of maintenance.

Smart video transmission protocol

Using the Smart video transmission protocol, the system can fully utilize the bandwidth of a network. Especially in situations when the bandwidth of the front-end network condition was limited. The system can still operates under a narrow bandwidth, without reducing the quality of the images.

Perfected video surveillance system

Allows the real-time surveillance and many other abilities. Such as alarm activated video record, auto-surveillance record, record playback and etc. Able to control the recording on every channel.

Dynamic decoding buffer adjust

The real-time surveillance is able to modify the priority setting between the video’s fluency and it’s real-timing with flexibility. Should the user chose to give fluency the priority, the system will provide much fluent images. Otherwise , the system will focus on providing real-time images. Thus, the system is capable of satisfying all kinds of needs.

Centralized management

All the data of the system is under centralized management. This allows remote users to conduct real-time surveillance and video playback via internet.

Fine operability

With the control authority, users can control and configure every surveillance post via client software. Also has an E-map function integrated.

High integration level

Other kinds of relevant information such as alarm information, voice message are also integrated in the system.

High reliability

There is also a fault-tolerant mechanism designed for the system, in order to keep the data intact, and to keep the system reliable.

【Manual Add】We could add device by input device’s IP、port、username and password manually.

【Add Group】Add new group which could place different kinds of devices inside, makes it simple to manage.

【Edit】Click the “Edit” buttonto modify added device’s information.

Storage settings allows users to set a disk letter in order to store record files into the corresponding disk ；

The disk reverse space is specially set aside not to store video；

User can set the file packet time , in order to pack the files at corresponding time；

when the storage reached it’s full capacity, users can choose to stop recording or overwrite old files.

Select corresponding window, set user’s time span and tick Enable Record, click apply to save the setting. Thusly the VMS will start recording appointed window once reach the selected time span.

Click the “client” button, set designated time span(type in begin time and end time)and start searching, the system can find client’s logs during the chosen time span. And also can search by log types.

With necessary parameter settings, the device will send alarm information and snapshot picture to appointed mailbox.；Please enable the snapshot function in the alarm setting before use, otherwise there will be no photo.

【SMTP sever】the SMTP sever address, could be an IP address or a domain name (the DNS should be set correctly in order to use domain name )

【Port】sever port number

【SSL】choose to use secure socket layer or not

【Username/Password】sender’s username and password

【Sender】exact address of sander’s mailbox

【Recipient】exact address of alarm recipient’s mailbox. three recipient’s addresses at most, use a semicolon to separate.

【Subject】the subject of the alarm E-mail, users can config according to their own needs

Click “FTP” to enter FTP page , as the picture shown below.

【Sever Address】appointed FTP sever’s address, if the sever is in wide area network, the recorder must be connected to the wide area network , too

【Sever port】FTP sever’s port number FTP (default number 21)

【Username/password】the username and password that user registered on the FTP sever, which also requires it’s authority.

【Anonymous】tick the anonymous allows users to upload files to the FTP sever without logging in, in order to make this work, please make sure the FTP sever allows anonymously access.

【MAX file len】the max file volume of each file packet, default value 128M

【Remote path】the file path in the sever that is meant to receive uploaded data Note: this account have upload authority to the sever.

DDNS setting

Click “DDNS” to enter DDNS page , as the picture shown below.

【DDNS type】to choose the DDNS service provider

【Domain】the domain name binding with the record’s IP , usually provided by DDNS service provider

【Username/Password】the username and password registered in DNS service provider Note：the DNS setting should be configured correctly

PPPOE setting

Through the PPPOE, The recorder can be remotely accessed through Wide Area Network. This requires an exclusive dial-up networking

【Username/Password】type in username and password provided by ISP, save and restart recorder according to the tips. The recorder will establish Internet connection after restart, the IP address will be shown in the IP column

View recorders’ videos using non IE kernel browsers and streaming media.

【Compression】standard H.264；

【Resolution】able to select display resolution , multiple choices such as 1080P ,720P, 960H…

【FPS】able to select FPS frame rate, when under PAL standard, the frame rate is adjustable from 1 to 25, when under NTSC standard, the frame rate is adjustable from 1 to 30

Note: low frame rate will have an impact on the fluency but occupies smaller flow

【Stream control】two strategies for stream control VBR and CBR. When user sets VBR, there are six grades of quality choices. When the system is under CBR setting, users can manually sets the bit rate to suit the network condition.

【Quality】when VBR was chosen in the stream control. Users are able to choose the quality of the videos. High quality videos also requires a large bit rate. the bit rate changes in different situations, dynamic scenes need larger bit rate than steady scenes, the scenes’ high complexity also contributes to a larger bit rate.

【Bitrate】when CBR was chosen in the stream control , users are able to control the bit rate by setting the ideal bit rate number. Once set, the bit rate will not rise or fall dramatically with the changes of scene, it fluctuates around preset number.

【I frame interval】interval time between key frames, optional from 2 to 12, smaller this figure was set the larger bit rate there will be, hence the better video quality

【Video/Audio】tick the “audio” to enable audio function, then user are allowed to click the audio sign in the monitoring view to conduct audio surveillance .only when extra stream was enabled can users view video through extra stream

【Channel Name】able to change channel names（21 Chinese symbols or 42 English letters maximal）

【AddUser】add user account to group and modify user’s authority. Enter the menu type in username and password, than choose group. also have to choose to allow account multiplexing or not

【AddGroup】add a new user group and modify user group’s authority. There are 33 authorities are provided, including shut down device, real-time surveillance, playback, record setting , back up…

【DeleteUser】delete chosen user ,first choose the user than click “delete”

【DeleteGroup】delete chosen user group, first choose the user group than click “delete”

【Refresh】Refresh device list

To supervise the storage of the recorders and network condition. Alarm when any abnormality occurs.

【event】five different settings for each kind of event

【Storage Device Not Exist】：the recorder can not detect storage device(Could be a damaged link to the storage device or storage device damage),will trigger alarm according to preselected alarm mode.

【Storage space lack alarm】：allows users to set a minimum threshold for Storage space, once breached, will trigger alarm according to preselected alarm mode.

【Storage Failure】: It would happen alarm once device detect the storage device is damaged.

【IP Conflict】：recorder find a device using same IP address as it’s own, and triggers the alarm

【Network Abort】: It would trigger alarm and record the video if these functions are enabled when the device lose network connection.

Click the button of Video Detect, it would appear the interface accordingly, as shown below:

【Enable】Tick the check box √ in front of enable means that the motion detect function is on. Then you can set up the corresponding settings.

【Sensitivity】Choose in the six options according to the sensitivity, Lowest, Lower, Middle, High, Higher and Highest.

Note: Only the motion detect under hybrid mode/ full analog mode have this function of setting sensitivity, and also only the analog channel can set region.

【Region】Click [setting] to enter the set area. The area is divided into PAL22X18. Black block means the motion detect defensive area. Blue block means the unfenced area. You can set the area as followed, Drag the mouse and draw the area. Default: all selected blocks are detection area.

Note: Only the motion detect under hybrid mode/full analog mode have this function of setting region, and also only the analog channel can set region.

【Period】Trigger the motion detect signal in the set time section. You can set according to week or set uniformly. Each day is divided into four time sections.

【Alarm Out】Start the external equipment of corresponding linkage alarm when the motion detect is turned on.

【Delay】Delay a few moments and stop when the alarm state is turned off. The range is 10~300 seconds.

【Record】Choose the recording channel (multiple option supportive). Trigger the video signal when the motion detect is turned on.

Note: Set in the [recording setup] and perform the linkage recording. Start detecting video files in the corresponding time section.

【Snapshot】Choose the recording channel (multiple option supportive). Trigger the snapshot when the motion detect is turned on.

【PTZ Activation】Set the PTZ activation when the motion detect is turned on.

*Hybrid mode, PTZ link to the related PTZ information of analog channel, While digital channel model, the PTZ is link to the related PTZ information on the remote device connected.

【Send Email】Turn on it means sending an email to user when the alarm is turned on. Note: Set in the [Network] and Email.

【Write Log】Turn on it means sending a log when the alarm is turned on, you can search the log from device log.

【Buzzer】When alarm happens, device will come out with buzz

【FTP】Turn on it, the video & picture of related record channel & snapshot channel will be uploaded to assigned position.

Note：FTP upload need be set at [Network]

【Type】External alarm equipment output based on switch information, which means that alarm

status should be same as device alarm type. If the equipment alarm type is normally open, it should be same as the device alarm type, and vice versa. It would pop up error alarm if the type is not same.

【Auto】Click the button ,the alarm output will according to the configuration.

【Manual】Click the button and the corresponding channel is always has alarm output no matter the channel in any state.

【Status】Select means has alarm output at present, otherwise means no.

Click the button of Disk Manager and enter the interface accordingly, as shown belown: This function is used for manage the hard disk which is installed.

And note that if this device have the ability of snapshot, here would have one snapshot disk for store

【R/W Disk】after set, this disk or partition could write or read data.

【Snapshot Disk】this disk or partition is used for store pictures which come from the function of snapshot.

【Read Only Disk】this disk or partition could only be read, can’t written in new records or pictures.

【Redundant Disk】this disk or partition is used for double backup the video files.

【Format】select one disk or partition, click this button could format accordingly.

【Recover】select one disk or partition, click this button could repair the disk or partition which is error.

【Partition】able to partition the disk which is selected manually

Click the button of Record Config, then could enter the interface accordingly, as shown below:

【Redundancy】choose the redundancy function option to implement the file double backup function. Double backup is writing the video files in two hard disks. When you do the double backup, make sure that there are two hard disks installed. One is read-write disk and the other is redundant disk.

【RecordLen】Set the time length of each video file. 60 minutes is default value.

【PreRecord】Record 1-30 seconds before the action.(time length is decided by the code stream)

【Mode】Three record mode: Auto, Manual and Close

Auto: Record according to the set video type(common, detection and alarm) and time

section.

Manual: Click the button and the according channel is recording no matter the

channel in any state

Close: Click the stop button and the according channel stops recording no matter the channel in any state.

【Period】 set the time section of common recording, the recording will start only in the set range.

【Record type】Set recording type: General, Detect and Alarm.

Click the button of Snap Config, then could enter the interface accordingly, as shown below:

【Pre Snap】once happen alarm, it would snapshots 1-5 pictures before alarm triggered to snapshot, by default it is 2 pictures.

【Alarm type】there are four types of alarm: Monitor Detect, Camera Masking, Video Loss and IO Alarm.

【Sound】VMS could cause alarm sounds according once alarm triggered. Note that you should tick alarm type and the check box of sound √, as well as set up the alarm settings in device config, only this way VMS could cause alarm sounds.

【Browse】click the button of , you could select the alarm sound file by yourself.

【Play】click this button, you could play the current alarm sound file.

【Record】Alarm occurs,start the video record;Modify PreRecord time.

【Log Saved Time】it’s to set log saved time. The max saved time is 90 days.

【Alarm information number】Set maximum alarm information

【Language】here you could set the language of VMS, VMS should reboot after modified.

【Picture Path】this path is used for save the picture which is snapshot in monitor and you could set it by yourself.

【Download Path】this path is to save the records which you download in Playback and you could set it by yourself.

【Remember login password】Once this box is ticked, the password would be remember.

【Auto login】Once this box is ticked, VMS would auto login after start software. Note that this function need tick the box of remember login password at the same time.

【Auto start application】Once this box is ticked, computer would auto open VMS after startup.

【Auto Switching between Sub Stream and Main Stream】tick it √ in the check box then by default the live view would auto use main stream when less than 4 windows and the live view would auto use sub stream when more than 9 windows. If you use 6 windows or 8 windows, the maximum windows use main-stream and other windows use sub-stream.

【Resume the last preview status】tick it √ in the check box then VMS would auto connect the channels which are connected last time.

【Show Start Up Wizard】Once this box is ticked, it would show start up wizard

【Maps/All Channels】display maps which have been added and device list.

【Edit】It could be used to edit the map.

In maps list, the sub-map would appear in the original map drop list, also you could find the mark in the right display area.

Double click the mark of sub-map in display area or click it in maps list, the sub-map could open and display.

Click the button of Edit, then you could delete the device in the display area, don’t forget to click the button of OK to confirm it.

Right-Click the map which is in the Maps list, you could remove it.

It provides function to decode/preview streams by external decoder.

Click”Decoder”to show existed decoder device list, right click corresponding decoder would show “preview”, and click it, activate preview windows. Select specific camera, drag it into preview windows to decode video stream.

The function of Backup is used for import and export device list, which means you could export the file of devices list, as well as import it. This would be convenient for use.

Note: After import, please reboot VMS.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

Minimum Computer System Requirement

Note

UPS is required for SERVER to prevent database or video record file corruption caused by power outage.

Install Gsurf_Prov2

Click to run the GSurf_Prov2 installation .exe file. Follow the instructions in the prompted windows to start installation. Once done, the following screen will show.

Uninstall Gsurf_Prov2

To uninstall GSurf_Prov2, in your windows PC Start Menu->Programs->GSurf_Prov2, click on Uninstall GSurf_Prov2 to start uninstall process. Or you could uninstall the program from your windows PC’s Control Panel.

Login Gsurf_Prov2

Click to run GSurf_Prov2. The login page will prompt for your User ID and Password. The administrator User ID and Password are both set to admin at the factory default settings.

CONFIGURATION GUIDE

After installing GSurf_Prov2, it must be configured for your network cameras or digital video servers. This section describes how to configure GSurf_Prov2, as well as how to set up auto recording, motion detection, alarms and etc.

Add/Delete Device

Add Device

1. In the top Menu bar, click System Config(C)->Device Config(D).

2. In the Device Configuration window, click Add button to open the Add Device dialog.

3. Enter the device information.

4. Click Ok to save.

After successfully adding the device, users could view the video by double-clicking on the device name in the Device browser panel on the left.

Delete Device

1. In the top Menu bar, click System Config(C)->Device Config(D).

2. In the Device Configuration window, Select the device to be deleted.

3. Click Delete button.

4. Or, users could click on Delete all to remove all the added devices.

Search Device

The built-in Search tool in GSurf_Prov2 allows user to search all the DVS and IP Camera devices within the same LAN. Additionally, users could modify the IP address for the devices listed in the searching result.

Search Device

1. In the GSurf_Prov2 toolbar, click  button.

2. In the Search tool, click Search button. A list of surveillance devices will display in the list.

Configure Time Schedule

The GSurf_Prov2 time schedule is used to configure automatic recording. Up to 10 schedules can be configured.

1. In the top Menu bar, click System Config(C)->Time Schedule(T).

2. The Time Schedule window will pop up.

3. Select a schedule on the left panel to be configured.

4. Select the time frame for each day. The scheduled interval will be marked in blue (See Figure 10: Gsurf_Prov2 Time Schedule).

5. Click Save button.

6. To assign this schedule to a device, open System Config->Device Config.

7. Select the device from which you would like to record the videos.

8. In Auto Record option, select schedule from the drop down list.

9. Click Save button.

This channel will then start automatically recording as specified in the designated time schedule.

Additionally, users could select Batch Configuration to assign the same time schedule to multiple devices.

Configure Alarm Triggers and Rules

Grandstream’s network cameras and digital video servers support motion detection and alarm events. They can report motion detection or alarm events to GSurf_Prov2. On the GSurf_Prov2 side, it can be configured to take actions, i.e., to notify such events to users. Up to 10 rules can be set up with different alarm actions. The instructions below will assist you with this setup.

1. In the top Menu bar, click System Config->Alarm Config.

2. In the Alarm action rule window, select the Alarm index and configure the action.

3. Click Save button to save the settings.

4. To assign this alarm action rule to a device, open System Config->Device Config.

5. In the Device Configuration window, select the device.

6. Select an Alarm action rule for Motion Detection to monitor motion detection events. Or to Other Alarm for other types of conditions such as abnormal reboot.

7. Click Save button to save the settings.

Additionally, users could select Batch Configuration to assign the same alarm action to multiple devices.

Local Configuration

Click on System Config->Local Config to configure software and local recording features for GSurf_Prov2.

Device Configuration

Click System Config->Device Config, the device configuration window will prompt for users to add, delete and edit devices. Once a device is selected, users could configure the device properties, alarm action rule and record option.

Language Display

In the GSurf_Prov2 interface, users could switch language at any time. Go to System Config->Language and select the language to be displayed.

The automatic record will be running in the background. The recording time is specified in Auto Record option after selecting device under System Config->Device Config.

Note

It is recommended to use continuous recording only and not combine it with recording by motion detection.

Replay

Both the GSurf_Prov2 Replay v2 (GXV36xx Models) and Replay v3 (For GSC36xx Models) tools provide the ability to replay recorded videos. These tools also provide a search function which allows you to perform a search based on start time, end time, IP address, channel and etc. To replay the recorded video, in the top Menu bar, go to Manage Tool->Replay Tool to open the Replayer. Select time, device, channel, file type and disk to search the video. Then click on the video file to play.

In the Replayer, users could also open up the Time selection tab to specify the recorded files by filtering the start time. All the configured start time will be marked in green in the time chart.

Electronic Map

E-map is an important feature in video surveillance system to provide users a visual overview of the cameras in your installation. A map is an image file on which you place cameras and views. GSurf_Prov2 supports an electronic map for users to identify the locations of your cameras and the status of their alarms.

To configure E-map on GSurf_Prov2, open the map browser by clicking  in the toolbar.

Add Map

1. In the Electronic map browser, right click and Add map option will show up.

2. Choose a map image from your local PC to upload. Then it will be displayed in the electronic map field.

Note

The supported image files are bmp, jpg or gif. GSurf_Prov2 will display the electronic map in full resolution. And the users can use the scroll bars to view the whole image.

Add Device to Map

1. Open your map in the main window.

2. In the left side panel, click on Device browser so your devices will show in the list.

3. Click on the device/channel, drag and drop it to the preferred destination on the map.

4. An icon with the device name and the channel number will now be shown on the map. Right click on the icon to change the icon settings.

Set Alarm on Map

1. After adding the device to the map, go to System Config->Alarm Config to configure alarm action rule. Make sure the option Warning on the E-map is checked.

2. Go to System Config->Device Config. Select your device and configure the alarm action rule set up in step 1.

3. When GSurf_Prov2 receives an alarm report, the corresponding icon on the map will flash in red .

Lock/Unlock Map

To avoid changing the positions of cameras on the map accidently, the users can lock the map after adding all devices.

Right click on the map, lock/unlock option will be available in the pop-up menu, When the map is unlocked, users could drag devices to the map. When the map is locked, double-clicking on the camera will open up a new window for real time video from this camera.

Remove Device from Map

On the map, right click on the icon and click Delete Icon to remove the device from the map.

Remote Configuration

The IP Camera devices can be remotely accessed via web browser. Select a device on the left side panel and click on Remote config tab to access the camera’s web GUI.

PTZ Control

In the toolbar, click  to open PTZ control panel. If the connected devices are PTZ cameras or have a PTZ device connected, users can use the console to adjust the focus, brightness, contrast, rotating speed, IRIS, and also pan/tilt the devices.

Note

Before using PTZ control, PTZ device needs to be set up in RS-485 port and properly configured.

Video Monitor

Individual View

Drag the device from the device browser to video display window to watch the video immediately.

Group View/Patrol Mode

1. In the tool bar, click on  to open the Group view panel.

2. Drag the device in Device browser panel to the group in Group view panel.

3. Right click on the group to configure the group attributes. Check the Allow Patrol option and configure Pause time which is the patrol interval for the group.

4. Click Ok to save the settings.

5. In the top Menu bar, click on Play Mode->Patrolling View to start playing videos from different groups in a loop.

Synchronize Device Time

In the top Menu bar, click on Manage tool->Synchronize device time. Then users could sync up the device time with local PC time.

Convert Video Format

The recorded video is saved in H264 format, which might not be supported by certain video players. An AVI converter tool is provided in GSurf_Prov2. Click on Manage tool->AVI Conversion Tool to open the converter. Add video to be converted and the output file will be saved in the configured directory in AVI format.

User Management

The GSurf_Prov2 administrator can add, modify and delete users as well as issue users different privilege levels.

1. Click on Manage tool->User Manage.

2. In the User Manage window, users could add, edit and delete users. A list of configuration authorities is provided so each user could be assigned with different privileges.

Import/Export Configuration

The GSurf_Prov2 configuration can be imported or exported for backup and restore purpose. Click on System Config->Export/Import Config to open the import/export window. Users could also select the configurations for the backup file.

GSURF_PROV2 TRANSFER SERVER

The GSurf_Prov2 embedded transfer server can cooperate with client side to effectively reduce the workload on the front-end cameras. The surveillance system utilizes the transfer server as the medium to monitor the devices in a distributed manner.

Server Side

1. Open the Transfer server from Manage Tool->Tran Server. A login window will pop up.

2. After login, click on Config->System Config to open the following server configuration window. The listening IP address is the PC’s IP address. For the port number, it is recommended to use default value or big value.

3. Click on  to open the search tool.

4. In the search tool, press Search button to get a list of devices in the same LAN.

5. Select the devices in the result list and click Add.

6. Those devices will then be displayed in the transfer list.

The main display window will show the traffic status when the traffic starts.

Client Side

The client side is the GSurf_Prov2 RTSP server.

1. In the Device browser, right click on RTSP server.

2. Click Server Config to add devices to the local list.

Server Side

The file server can provide the record files in local disk to other hosts within the network for search, download and replay. To configure the GSurf_Prov2 as the file server, go to Manage Tool->File Server. Click on the Configuration button to set up listening IP and port. Then start the server.

Client Side

The client side is the replay tool in the GSurf_Prov2. Go to Manage Tool->Replay Tool to open the Replayer. Once searching is done, the record files can be downloaded and played locally.

HTTP SERVER

GSUpgrade Tool

This HTTP server allows user to configure a local HTTP server on the same machine running GSurf Pro which can be used to execute firmware update from this tool on IP Cameras either one by one or via batch upgrade by selecting them all. Go to Manage Tool->HttpServer. Click on the Configuration button to set up listening IP and port. Then start the server.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How many cameras does GSurf_Prov2 support?

A: The GSurf_Prov2 can support up to 10 groups or 72 channels cameras at the same time. However, when using HD camera (720P and up), the maximum number might be limited by the PC processor. When displaying multiple videos, the GSurf_Prov2 will adjust the display to secondary stream to increase system resource efficiency. If users click on one of the video, the display will be automatically converted to primary stream for better quality.

Q: Does GSurf_Prov2 have any requirement on the PC where it’s installed?

A: Yes. Please refer to section [Minimum Computer System Requirement] for details. Before installing GSurf_Prov2, it is recommended to evaluate the system requirement (network traffic, disk space, file directory and etc.).

Q: Is there any requirement on the transfer server?

A: In most of the cases, the transfer server will have large amount of network flow going through. Therefore, it is recommended to use the machine with Gigabyte network interface card.

Q: What are the factors that might affect the disk space?

A: The disk space is mainly affected by the primary stream bit rate. Normally HD video will take more space than standard definition video.

Q: I have configured the alarm action on GSurf_Prov2 already but I still didn’t get alarm. Why?

A: Besides configuring alarm action on GSurf_Prov2 side, the alarm has to be activated on the camera side and configured to report to the alarm center. Users could configure this by directly accessing camera’s web GUI or via GSurf_Prov2’s remote configure interface.

Install The App, Log In & Add The Device For monitoring On Mac OS

The installation process, logging in, and device addition are given here in different steps. Follow the procedure to do it yourself. We will demonstrate here three important steps.

The first step is for the installation of XMEye on Mac OS and the second step is the login part. The third step is for configuring it to any recorder app for monitoring.

Step-1 Install XMEye On Mac OS

The first step is to get the application file from the download button. It is given in a zipped file folder. Unzip the file and then click it to download it on your Mac OS system.

It will show you here on your computer system.

As you are seeing here, it is a 20.3 MB file. When it is properly downloaded, you can find it on the download drive. It is done in a DMG file.

Right-click the file folder. The next function will appear. The Video Monitoring system and file folder are given. Drag the VMS cam to the file folder and it will show up on the launch pad screen.

Now go to the launch pad option and look for the VMS app. You will find it here.

Double-click on this XMEye VMS icon. a new window will surface. This page has different windows open to it.

You can see it is stating, VMS can not be opened because the developer can’t be verified.

If you are an Apple device user, you know better that it doesn’t allow you to download any thithird-partyp instantly. You have to permit it every time. You have to convince the system that this file is free from malware.

For that, you have to go to the option of System preferences. Click the system preferences icon and then go to the security and privacy option. Click it and a new page will open.

When you press the cancel button a new window pops up with a new message.

The moment you press the cancel button, this message appears. It says that “VMS was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.”

You have to simply press the “Open Anyway” option. It means you are trusting the app and allowing the system to open it.

This way you can download and install the file and go to open the file.

Step-2 Log In to The File

When you try to open the XMEye for Mac application, you can’t open it unless you log in to the file. You get the following page when you go to open it.

By default, the Id and password are respectively “admin” and “admin.” Enter them and the following page surfaces.

This page is the home page of the application. This page always follows the login part. It confirms that we are properly logged in to the system.

Now, we move towards the third step of the process. It is the configuration of the app and adding to the device for monitoring.

Step-3 Configuration, Device Addition & Monitoring

Click the device manager option from the home page and this page will appear on the screen.

It is for searching the IP and adding to the camera.

We click on the ‘Add’ option when we have to search and add the IP automatically. It is a very simple process. When you press the Add button option, the page shows that the following device has been added.

In the status column, you will see the online/ offline status. If it is offline, then you have to give the device password to connect to the cam.

Here, put in the device password and it will be connected to the application. The cam will appear on the screen.

If you have to manually add the camera then click the Manual add button.

When you manually add the camera, you have to manually mention the IP address, Port No. and device name.

After that go to the homepage and open the monitor option.

This window opens.

Select the cameras you have added to the device and they will surface on the screen.

This way the XMEye app for Mac will be connected to the device. You will see the cameras on the screen.

Overview

Designed for large-scale multi-site video surveillance solution, Central Management System 2.0 (hereafter referred to as CMS) software allows its user the full capabilities to monitor and manage multiple Network Video Recorders (NVR) via network. It also possesses full functionalities to manage not only NVRs but devices (network cameras, video encoders, etc.), users and events.

CMS Server / Client Architecture

CMS is a typical web-based server/client system. In a multi-site surveillance solution, CMS Server serves as a management command center; a Client makes requests of monitoring video streams or playing recordings sent to CMS Server, and CMS Server will pass this request to the involved NVR Server to send data/video stream to the Client. CMS Server starts automatically as soon as the Server computer (where it is installed) boots up, and operates in the background without requiring the login of administrator. It would provide services over the TCP/IP network to multiple Clients upon requests coming through HTTP protocol.

There are two types of Clients in CMS system: Web Client and Workstation Client. A user, connecting from whether web browser or workstation, will be provided with the same user interface and be CMS functions.

• Web Client: the web version of interface to access CMS Server without the need of installing any client program. Logging in to the CMS Server is as simple as visiting a website through the browser.
• Workstation Client: the client application making accessing CMS Server free from the use of browser .The workstation includes a set of programs that provide interface between users and the CMS Server.

Prerequisites

Please preview these prerequisites below and make sure they are met before installation:

1. Upgrade All the NVR servers

Please upgrade all the NVR servers to the latest version.

1. Suitable System Specifications

Ensure that the server computer meets the minimum system requirements.

1. Uninstall Previous ACTi NVR or CMS Products

As the previous ACTi NVR server software ( NVR 2.X) or previous CMS server software (CMS1.X) cannot co-exist with CMS 2.0 server on the same computer, please uninstall their main program and patches from Windows ^ Control Panel before installing CMS 2.0 server. Please also manually delete the program folder. By default, this folder ACTi Corporation is under C:\Program Files.

1. Turn off UAC in Windows

UAC (User Access Control) is a security setting that restricts access in Microsoft Windows.

You must disable UAC before installing CMS 2.0 in Windows 7, for the installation of application components and certain program features would be interrupted by this security rule. If you are using Windows 8, please enable the built-in Administrator account and log in with this identity, or add this CMS site to IE browser’s trusted sites (please follow the solution provided for Condition 2: Why can’t I install Active X controls after logging in? on page 29 to do so).

Disable UAC in Windows 7

1. Go to Windows Control Panel, type “UAC” in search box.
2. Click “Change User Account Control settings”

Server Installation

The server program installation is as easy as 1-2-3 by following the installation wizard’s instructions. The server would start its service right after installation completes, without the need to restart the server computer.

The IP Port Checker will pop up to confirm the CMS port number. The installation program will use 80 as default. You may enter another available port number in “Listen Port” field and click “Apply”.

License and Activation

In CMS system, the maximum number of channels is unlimited; your required number of channels should be licensed and activated before adding the devices to the system. To get the license, you may contact ACTi sales representatives to purchase the licenses and obtain the License Key. Upon the activation of license with the License Key, the channels will automatically become available.

Please note:

•The license is cumulative and perpetual.

•The license is not version-specific, software version upgrading will not influence the existing license you have activated on CMS server.

How Does License Activation Work

License activation is the process of unlocking the channels on CMS server with the received License Key. License Key is a serial number delivered as a printed card or by email after the purchase is carried out. During license activation, your License Key is matched against the MAC address of the Network Interface Card (NIC) on CMS server computer. Once this license key is used by the computer with given MAC, it cannot be activated with another MAC. This matching record will be stored on the activation database. If your computer has more than one network cards, CMS server will detect them and provide you a dropdown list to select from.

How to Activate the Licenses

There are two ways to activate the licenses depending on your CMS server network condition:

Online Activation

If your CMS server computer has available Internet access, you should take online activation.

Offline Activation

Offline activation does not require Internet access for CMS server. It is used when CMS is located in a network not connected to public Internet (e.g. in a restricted military base). You will need to get an activation file (AUL.lic file) from another computer and transfer it to CMS server computer.

On another computer, access ACTi website to activate the licenses using the

activation code file (AUL.lic) will be sent to your registered e-mail account.

1. Log in CMS server from local or via web client. Go to Setup ^ System tab ^ License ^ “Offline Registration”^ click “Import” and upload the license file (AUL.lic). Click “Apply” to activate this license.

Verify Your License

Once your license is successfully activated, the license information will be shown on License

page.

Important

The license data will be erased once CMS server is uninstalled. Be sure to retain your license key information in a safe place because you may need to reinstall the software. After the software is uninstalled, you should contact ACTi Customer Help Desk http://www.acti.com/CHD to clear the ^original registration data in our database, and then you may activate the license again.

How to find MAC Address

1. Click Windows Start, in the run box on Start menu, input “cmd”.
2. Execute the cmd program, and input the command “ipconfig /all” or “getmac”
3. The MAC address will be referred to as the Physical Address, made up of 12 characters

From Remote Client Computer

A remote client refers to any client using a computer over WAN or LAN other than server computer. If you are connecting to a CMS server as a remote client, please type server computer’s IP (e.g. local network ip: http://172.16.26.217 within LAN; public IP http://220.228.146.21 or domain name http://cms.acti.com over WAN ) in URL box. If the port number is 80, you can omit it when typing the address.

Accept ActiveX Controls Installation Requests

CMS interface requires the add-on ActiveX Control components, please make sure browser’s security settings allow ActiveX controls to be downloaded and installed. When your browser asks if you allow ACTi Corporation’s add-on components to run, please allow them.

Login Failure Troubleshooting

Once you confront with problems accessing CMS server, refer to the possible conditions below and follow the instruction to solve your issues.

Condition 1: Why can’t I access CMS server via my browser?

After typing in the correct CMS server IP, if you cannot access CMS Login page, you may get the below browser screens:

Cause: Server is not ready

Solution: It will take a little while for the server to get ready to run after the installation is completed, please wait a few seconds and connect again.

Condition 2: Why can’t I install Active X controls after logging in?

ActiveX Control components are essential for CMS server to present user interface. The message below will show if these controls were not installed.
