How to properly install the security camera?

🟠 When installing security cameras, LongPlus always recommends placing cameras up high. The outdoor installation location should be 7ft away from the ground. Here are the best places to install security cameras around your home: front & back doors, garage & driveway, yard, common areas, main stairway or hallway, or any side doors or large first-floor windows that an intruder could gain access through.

🟠 Typically, home cameras are placed in the corners of the room to optimize the viewing angle. LongPlus recommends at least two cameras to fully cover a large space, such as a living room. To fully monitor your home, users can add cameras in each room to achieve a complete home monitoring system.

🟠 Battery cameras can not be installed behind a window/glass if you want to use the “Motion Detection” feature.

Battery cameras use PIR (passive infrared) motion detection, an energy-efficient (saving battery power) technology that captures motions by detecting infrared radiation (radiant heat) emitted or reflected by objects. When the camera is mounted behind a window/glass, infrared radiation does not pass through the window/glass. As a result, the “Motion Detection feature” does not work reliably. If you want the camera to detect motions outside, it is recommended that you mount the camera outside.

For plug-in/wired cameras, the answer is yes, as they use camera video analytics rather than PIR sensors to detect motions. As long as they “see”, they can detect motions. So you can mount the camera behind a window/glass with confidence.

How to find the serial number of LongPlus security camera?

🟠 Each LongPlus security camera has a serial number. These are usually located on the body label of the security camera, starting with S/N:*****. Also, if you’ve added your camera to the app, you can also tap the camera “setting” icon > tap the “>” extension icon > tap the “More info” button to find the camera’s serial number.

Is LongPlus security camera waterproof?

🟠 Yes. The waterproof rating of LongPlus camera is IP65. It can be “protected against water jets from any angle”. Generally, the camera can be used outdoors on ordinary rainy and snowy days. However, it may get damaged in extreme weather. But if the camera is installed under the roof or in a place with some shelter, it can get protection to a certain extent. Besides, please don’t expose the camera’s charging port, power button, and microSD card slot to water.

What do the indicator lights on LongPlus security camera mean?

🔵 Solid Blue Light – The camera is working properly.

🟡 Solid Yellow Light – The camera is charging.

🟢 Solid Green Light – The camera charging is complete.

⚪ No Light – The camera is in sleep/off mode.

Can I talk to someone via LongPlus App?

🟠 Yes, LongPlus security camera features two-way audio capability, which means you can listen and talk to someone in real-time with simple clicks in the App.

Do LongPlus security cameras need an app to work?

🟠 Yes! All LongPlus smart security cameras are connected to the LongPlus APP. Compatible and compatible with the latest versions of iOS/Android devices. Installing LongPlus app is a breeze and it comes with voice prompts to guide you step-by-step in minutes.

What is the default language of LongPlus security cameras?

🟠 The default language of LongPlus security camera is set during production and testing in the factory production process. After connecting with LongPlus APP, the language of the camera will follow the language of the APP.

Can I see the infrared light at night?

🟠 No, the night vision infrared light is invisible to human eyes. If you turn on your phone’s camera and point it at the camera lens, then you will be able to see it.

How to format a Micro SD card?

🟠 Sometimes after inserting a Micro SD card, the camera will report “Please use the app to format your SD card first”, that’s because your Micro SD card is not the FAT32 format that the camera supports. In this case, please tap the camera Setting icon > tap SD card > tap Format to format it.

How to record/save videos on a Micro SD card?

🟠 Installing a Micro SD card does not mean the camera will record a video to the Micro SD card all the time.

When the camera detects a movement, it will record a video to the cloud and the cloud recording will display in the Library in the app. If apart from the cloud recordings you want to save backup videos on a Micro SD card at the same time, you can insert a Micro SD card into the camera.

🟠 Here are tips:

1. Find the Micro SD card slot and insert your Micro SD card: Mostly, the Micro SD card slot is next to the power button and is under the rubber plug of the camera body. However, for some models of cameras, you may need to take off the outer shell of the camera to find the Micro SD card slot.

2. If the Micro SD card is detected, you will hear “SD card detected” at the time when it is inserted, and you can see both the storage of the Micro SD card and “SD Card Video” in the app.

Please note that the camera only supports legitimate brand-name (SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston) Micro SD cards, but may not be able to support no-brand, fake, expansion (the storage is extended), and read-only (you aren’t able to put a file to it) Micro SD cards.

How to view videos on the Micro SD card?

You can view videos on the Micro SD card from the app or on your computer.

To view videos on the Micro SD card from the app, please tap the camera “setting” icon on the app homepage > tap “SD card video” on the “Camera Setting” page > select the date on the top > swipe the screen left and right until the green vertical line overlaps the grey “bubble”( If there is no grey “bubble”, that means there are no motions detected in that period).

If you want to zoom in on the specific time before playing a video, you can swipe two fingers left and right at the same time or tap the “magnifying glass” icon.

How to activate cloud storage?

🟠 The cloud storage we gift you is automatically activated and contains free 3 days rolling cloud storage. You can view the cloud-stored videos in the last 7 days at any time.

When the SD card is full will it overwrite the older files?

🟠 Yes, when the SD card is full, the camera will delete the earlier recorded video so you don’t need to format the SD card manually.

Can the camera be used without a memory card?

🟠 Without a memory card, the recorded video will be automatically saved in the cloud, you can watch the video for nearly 7 days in the cloud.

How long does it take to charge LongPlus camera once?

🟠 It will take about 8 -15 hours to fully charge the camera once. When the security camera is fully charged, the indicator light will turn solid green.

Why can’t the battery be charged?

🟠 The following factors may cause charge failure. Please check them one by one:

(1) The charging device is not suitable, or it malfunctions. Please make sure the power adapter and charging cable are in good condition. The power adapter specification is “5V/1.5A”.

(2) The charging port is defective. Possible causes include: the Micro USB cable and the charger or the charging port of the camera are not plugged in properly; there are objects in the charger or the charging port of the camera.

(3) Please confirm whether there are objects in the camera’s charging port or the charger port and clean it before charging.
Please ensure that the Micro USB cable is in good contact with the ports on both ends of the charger and camera.

(4) You can try to connect the Micro USB cable and the charger to other devices (such as mobile phones or computers) to see if they work normally. If anyone doesn’t work, please change to a new one to try again.

(5) The long-time operation leads to charge port oxidation or internal looseness. Please repair or replace the charge port immediately.
The charging cable is damaged or broken. Please replace the Micro USB cable that can work normally.

(6) The charging cable should not be too long. The required cable length is generally not more than 16 feet (5 m). Please replace the Micro USB cable with a suitable length.

(7) The charging environment is not suitable; excessively high or low temperature makes charging impossible. Please move to a place with an appropriate temperature environment (0°C ~ 45°C) for charging.

If the above are ruled out but the issue still persists, please submit feedback from the app for further technical assistance.

Why can’t the battery be used for a long time?

🟠 The battery life mainly depends on the total working duration of the camera. The following factors may lead to fast battery consumption. Please check them one by one:

1. Users frequently view live streams/The camera is frequently activated to record videos.
In order to make the camera work longer, please avoid turning on the live broadcast for a long time.

2. Poor Wi-Fi connection to the camera
If the camera’s Wi-Fi connection is bad or unstable, it will continue to actively search for networks, so the battery will drain quickly.
Please try to place the camera near the Wi-Fi router. Thick walls, bricks, ceramics, electromagnetic equipment, large amounts of liquid, and large metal objects can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Please try to avoid these objects.

3. Extremely cold weather shortens battery life
The operating temperature of the camera is -10°~45 °C. Please do not place the camera in an extremely cold environment.

4. Night Sight will consume more battery power
When you enable Night Sight, the camera will enter night mode when the light is darker than the threshold (sensitivity level). Camera performance is improved when it is dark.
Therefore, for sharp nighttime images, we don’t recommend disabling it, although it may drain more battery power. But if you still want to disable it, you can tap the camera “Settings” icon > tap “Lighting Settings” > close “Night Sight”.

How can I extend the battery life?

🟠 The battery life is largely determined by the number of recordings and the number and duration of live. Here are the suggestions to extend the battery life:

(1) To reduce false triggers. Change the location or angle of the camera. Please allow us to explain how motion detection works: when the PIR sensor perceives a change in the environment, motion detection will be triggered. The change in the environment can be a moving object, light change, the alternation of hot and cold air, etc. Particularly common false triggers include trees shaking after being blown by the wind, the cold air of the air conditioning, etc.

(2) Set motion detection sensitivity to Low or Medium. After doing that, the distance the PIR sensor can detect will become shorter so that false triggers may be reduced.

(3) Shorten the recording duration of the camera. Currently, the camera-supported recording durations are 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, and automatic (up to 3 minutes). For your reference:

(4) Set Sleep mode. This feature allows you to schedule the working hours for the camera. Whether the camera enters sleep mode on schedule, or you enable Sleep, the camera will be deactivated. Under this condition, the live feed will not be accessed, motion detection (including push notifications, recordings, and camera alarm) will stop working. This can reduce power consumption to save battery life.

(5) If possible, you can try to watch live feeds or adjust camera settings on your mobile phones less frequently.

(6) To avoid or reduce the battery consumption caused by poor network connection. You can place the camera as close to the router as possible, and try to avoid thick walls, bricks, ceramics, electromagnetic wave equipment, a large amount of liquid, and large metal objects.

(7) We suggest that the camera be installed in a suitable temperature environment (14°F~113°F).

(8) It is generally not recommended that you turn off night vision, but if you do not need to monitor at night (watch live and video), you can turn off night vision.

Will Wi-Fi environment affect the camera battery?

🟠 Yes, an unstable or poor network environment will cause the camera to transmit data multiple times, the camera keeps actively searching for the network, or even reconnect to Wi-Fi continuously, which will result in faster battery consumption. Multi-layer concrete walls, brick walls, and overcrowded Wi-Fi channels will cause a bad Wi-Fi environment.

To save the camera’s battery life, please ensure that the network connection is strong.

How to charge the camera?

🟠 Connect the Micro USB cable to a 5V/1.5A power adapter.

🟠 Connect the other end of the USB cable to the camera.

🟠 Plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet.

🟠 Use the solar panel to charge.

O-KAM Pro APP Download

O-KAM Pro supports Android and iPhone, you can download it from google play or app store.

Login O-KAM Pro

You need to register and login to O-KAM Pro APP to connect the camera, click Register now or email icon to register.

It is recommended to allow all permissions of the APP, otherwise you may not be able to use and connect the O-KAM Pro camera properly.

Connect O-KAM Pro Camera To Wifi

This connection mode supports O-KAM Pro wifi camera and battery camera.

1. Connect the O-KAM Pro Camera to a power source, and if it is a battery camera, press and hold the power button to start the camera.

2. Click + , then scan the QR code on the O-KAM Pro camera, the APP will automatically enter the appropriate connection mode.

If you can’t find the QR code or can’t scan the QR code, please select Wireless camera.

3. Make sure your O-KAM Pro camera is ready to connect, the camera light is flashing or you hear the prompt “Please use the app for Wi-Fi configuration”.

Note: If the light is not blinking or there is no prompt tone, please reset the camera.

Then click ‘I heard the prompt tone or see the indicator light flashing’, go to the next step.

4. Enter your wifi password, then click Next.

Please choose 2.4G wifi, some O-KAM Pro cameras only support 2.4G wifi.

5. Make sure your wifi is 2.4g and the wifi password is correct, then click Confirm. Give the displayed QR code to the camera to scan.

Place the QR code about 15-30 Inch in front of the camera to scan, and complete the scan after hearing the “beep” sound.

After the connection is successful, it will automatically jump to the next step.

After successful connection, you can test the wifi signal strength, or later in the test, please put the O-KAM Pro camera in the location with strong wifi signal.

The app will prompt you to subscribe, it is recommended to cancel, if you need cloud storage, make sure the O-KAM Pro camera can work properly before subscribing.

AP Mode Connecting O-KAM Pro Camera

If the QR code connection fails or the QR code cannot be scanned, you can try to connect the O-KAM Pro camera using AP mode.

1. Go to your mobile phone’s wifi list to connect to the hotspot wifi of the O-KAM Pro camera, return to the O-KAM Pro APP after the connection is successful, and then the app will auto add the camera.

Below is the name of the O-KAM Pro camera’s hotspot wifi:

2. Go to Settings, select Device Settings, and then click Wi-Fi network.

3. Select your wifi, then enter your wifi password, click Confirm and wait for O-KAM Pro camera to connect to your wifi.

Share O-KAM Pro Camera

Once you have connected the O-KAM Pro camera, if you want your family or friends to use the camera as well, you need to share the camera with your friends via the Share function.

1. Go to the Share screen, then send the QR code to your friend.

Connecting O-KAM Pro Camera without a router

If you want to use O-KAM Pro camera without internet or router, you can connect to the included hotspot wifi to use the camera.

This mode only supports close range use.

1. Go to your mobile phone’s wifi list to connect to the camera’s hotspot wifi, after connecting, return to O-KAM Pro, the app will auto add the camera, then you can start to use it.

Function setup – Wired O-KAM Pro Cameras

The functions of different types of O-KAM Pro cameras differ slightly, so please check your camera type.

If your camcorder needs to be connected to the power supply at all times to work, then it is a wired O-KAM Pro camcorder type, please check the function setting instructions below.

Recording Setup – Wired O-KAM Pro Cameras

O-KAM Pro camera supports cloud storage and memory card recording, cloud storage requires subscription, the following memory card recording settings.

You need to insert the memory card to record, the recording will be saved in the memory card, after inserting the memory card, the camera will sound a voice prompt.

The default is to start 24 hours recording, you can change the recording mode in TF Record Settings.

O-KAM Pro camera supports the following recording modes:

If the memory card shows abnormality, please try to format the memory card and reboot the camcorder.

View Recordings – Wired O-KAM Pro Cameras

In the live video interface, click TF Card in the lower right corner to view the video saved in the memory card.

Motion Detection Setup

Activate the Motion Detection function in the Monitoring Function, O-KAM Pro cameras support Motion Detection and Human Detection.

Motion Detection

When the camera detects an object moving, it will send an alarm notification to your mobile phone.

This mode may have a high false alarm rate, if you need to detect only suspicious people, we recommend you to choose Human Detection.

Human Detection

The camera will send alarm notifications to your mobile phone only when it detects humanoid objects.

Activity Zone Setup

Setting the detection area allows the camera to detect a specific location, reducing the chance of false alarms.

Smear the area you don’t need.

Detection schedule

Customize the schedule of Motion detection, reduce false alarms. The camera automatically monitors for you during the scheduled time.

Alarm flashing light

After the alarm flashing light is turned on, the camera will automatically flash when motion detection is triggered.

Camera Siren

When Alarm sound switch is turned on, the camera will emit alarm sound when motion detection is triggered, you can choose alarm sound or record your own sound.

Enter Notification Settings, select Camera Siren and then turn on the Alarm sound switch.

Email notification

An email will be sent to you when a motion is detected.

Click Add an email , then enter the email address you want to receive alarm notification and finish the setting.

Auto Tracking

When Person tracking is activated, the camera will Auto Track people’s movements and monitor all activities. It will automatically switch to and focus on the person when they enter the camera’s field of vision.

This feature is only supported by O-KAM Pro cameras that support PTZ.

Human frame

People are automatically framed in the live video Help you filter out motions of other objects and quickly follow the person’s movement.

Night vision setup

O-KAM Pro camera defaults to black and white night vision mode, you can change the night vision mode in Device Settings, Night Vision.

Only cameras with dual light sources support this feature.

Press and hold the O-KAM Pro camera reset button for 5 seconds to reset the camera.

Why is my O-KAM Pro Camera offline?

O-KAM Pro camera is offline, it means the camera can’t connect to the network properly, please follow the steps below to fix the offline problem:

Is the router working properly?
Connect your mobile phone to the router Wi-Fi, switch off the mobile data, can you access the internet normally? If it is not normal, try to restart the router.

Whether the WiF strength is full or not
Put the mobile phone to the camera installation location, detect whether the Wi-Fi signal is full? If the signal is weak, it is recommended to adjust the distance from the router to the camera.

Whether the O-KAM Pro camera is normal
If a memory card is inserted into the O-KAM Pro camera, power off the camera and remove the memory card, then check if the camera works properly.

Replace the power supply with another one.

If none of the above solves the offline problem, try resetting the camera and reconnecting it.

How to install and use Camera Live on a compatible Windows or Mac PC/laptop

Camera Live is a free program for you Windows PC or Mac that can be used to locate its local IP address and to view the camera’s live feed locally and remotely. 

First download the appropriate installation file from the links below and install the program.

Once you have installed the program, open it and click on Add Video. Then click on Discover to find the cameras UID, or enter it manually ensuring it is correct and all in uppercase. Enter the cameras password ensuring this is correct and in the correct case. Then give the camera a name e.g. garden, drive etc. and click on OK.

Once added wait for the camera to connect to the program. When it is connected you will see a green icon next to the UID, you can then view your camera’s live feed by clicking on the play icon. You will see the “No Video” message until you have viewed the live feed for the first time and the program can produce a thumbnail image from this.

Forgotten your password or getting a wrong password message?

If a password has been forgotten unfortunately there is no way to recover these as this would compromise the camera security.

The default username and password for the camera will be “admin” e.g.:

Username:     admin
Password:      admin

We recommend trying these first to see if they allow you to login. 

These must be entered all in lowercase and should be double checked as some devices such as iPhones/iPads will set the first letter to uppercase automatically.

When changing the password this should be in alphanumeric characters (i.e. a,b,c… 1,2,3…) only with no special characters or spaces.

If the default password has been changed you cannot recall what you set it to you will need to reset the camera to the factory defaults to regain access. 

NB: When you reset a camera it will reset it to factory defaults (and will lose the WiFi details you currently have set) so you should only perform a reset while your camera is connected to your router with an ethernet cable.

To do this can you:

1) Remove all cables connected to the camera.
2) Remove any SD card from the camera.
3) Wait 10 mins.
4) Connect the ethernet cable to the camera and your router, you should hear a click when the cable is connected.
5) Wait 2 mins.
6) Connect the power cable to the camera.
7) Wait 5 mins for the camera to power up.
8) Locate the camera’s reset button or recess.

For the outdoor camera this will be a button on the underneath of the camera or on the end of a cable.
For the indoor camera this will be a recess on the back of the camera that can be pressed with a paperclip or similar.

9) Press and hold for 20 seconds and release.
10) Wait 5 mins for the camera to reset ensuring it remains connected to your router with the ethernet cable throughout.

Then once the camera is reset can you log in to the camera interface using the default username and password which is “admin”

As the camera has been reset it will be at the factory defaults once again, so you will need to setup your camera again with the WiFi details, etc. as if from new.

Incorrect Task Management setup

How can I transfer video clips from an SD card in the camera to my computer?

If you are looking to transfer recordings from an SD card installed in the camera to you computer over WiFi this is limited to one file at a time for practical reasons:

.

1) If your SD card had, for example, 128GB of clips it would not only be very cumbersome to transfer that quantity to your computer over your local WiFi but potentially slow down your local network too. As SD cards have very limited file speeds transferring this magnitude of data may also take a very long time to offload.

.

2) It is also impractical or unwise to transfer en masse as it would also cause a slow down of the camera’s capabilities for the time while the transfer is progressing, and your camera could miss key motion events from being recorded.

.

Solutions? There are a number of options available to you:

.

– You can browse the recordings stored on your camera directly from a web browser and check which recordings are important to keep. You can play back the clips in your browser without needing to download to your computer first. Click here for a guide on how to do this.

– You can set the sd card to auto overwrite so that it automatically deletes the oldest recordings when the card is full, so you don’t have manually delete.

.

– You can use a number of tasks in the camera to automatically offload clips from the sd card (before they get overwritten) to Dropbox, your own FTP server, etc.

.

– If you really must download everything off the SD card the easiest and quickest way is to take the sd card out and insert directly into your computer (if it supports SD media) and then simply drag and drop the files off the card to your computer.

.

Cannot connect to the camera remotely using the app.

Are you having trouble connecting to the camera using the app on your phone? This may be a p2p error. The camera and app use p2p to connect, if the camera is unable to connect to the p2p server then it will not be viewable via the app. Click here to check and resolve this.

Has the camera been set to a static IP? We do not recommend setting the camera to a static IP as this is not usually required and can render the camera inaccessible if setup incorrectly. Click here to check this has been setup correctly.

Is the UID correct and all in uppercase? If any character in the cameras UID is not in uppercase it will not be able to connect to the app remotely. If this is the case, delete the camera from the app and add it again. For help with this click here for an Android device and click here for an iOS device.

Changed WiFi router or given a new router by your ISP?

If for some reason you have changed/updated your WiFi router your camera(s) will need to be reset to factory defaults and setup again, since the WiFi details and ip addressing on your camera(s) will still be that of your old router.

Power LED flashing rapidly and camera offline?

A rapidly flashing green power LED usually indicates that the camera’s firmware has encountered an error. This is rare but can occasionally happen after an unexpected power cut (if the camera is in the middle of performing a task), due to incorrect settings in the camera (too many enabled tasks, conflicting settings etc.), or due to a faulty SD card. 

This can usually be resolved with a reset of the camera. To do this first power down the camera and leave it for at least 10-15 minutes, then follow the steps on the page linked below to reset the camera. Note: a reset will clear all changed settings in the camera and revert it back to the defaults.

If the reset does not clear the error then you should get in touch with our support team using the “contact us” form as they will be able to advise on the next steps to resolve the issue.

How to reset a camera.

If you think you need to reset your camera we recommend you first get in touch with us using the “Contact us” form as a reset may not solve your issue and will wipe the camera of any user data, meaning you will need to set the camera up again.

But should you want to reset your camera anyway please use either of the guides below.

NB: When you reset a camera it will reset it to factory defaults (and will lose the WiFi details you currently have set) so you should only perform a reset while your camera is connected to your router with an ethernet cable.

There are two ways to reset the camera: physically by pressing the hardware reset button or digitally via the camera’s web interface….

Physical reset procedure

1) Remove all cables connected to the camera.
2) Remove any SD card from the camera.
3) Wait 10 mins.
4) Connect the Ethernet cable to the camera and your router, you should hear a click when the cable is connected.

5) Wait 2 mins.
6) Connect the power cable to the camera.

Forgotten your password or getting a wrong password message?

If a password has been forgotten unfortunately there is no way to recover these as this would compromise the camera security.

The default username and password for the camera will be “admin” e.g.:

Username:     admin
Password:      admin

We recommend trying these first to see if they allow you to login. 

These must be entered all in lowercase and should be double checked as some devices such as iPhones/iPads will set the first letter to uppercase automatically.

When changing the password this should be in alphanumeric characters (i.e. a,b,c… 1,2,3…) only with no special characters or spaces.

If the default password has been changed you cannot recall what you set it to you will need to reset the camera to the factory defaults to regain access. 

NB: When you reset a camera it will reset it to factory defaults (and will lose the WiFi details you currently have set) so you should only perform a reset while your camera is connected to your router with an ethernet cable.

To do this can you:

1) Remove all cables connected to the camera.
2) Remove any SD card from the camera.
3) Wait 10 mins.
4) Connect the ethernet cable to the camera and your router, you should hear a click when the cable is connected.
5) Wait 2 mins.
6) Connect the power cable to the camera.
7) Wait 5 mins for the camera to power up.
8) Locate the camera’s reset button or recess.

Camera is rebooting often

Do you find the camera does not remain online for any length of time? If so this is usually a setup or a hardware error, typically with the SD card or the recording setup. Please take a look at the troubleshooting guides below to help resolve your issues.

Cannot view the video from the app.

If you are having trouble viewing video in the app it is likely due to one of the issues listed below. 

Poor Wifi connectivity

Privacy mode enabled blocking access to the live feed.

Live feed or playback is jerky and not smooth

The first thing to check will be that the camera has a strong WiFi connection. This can be checked in the app by going to Edit Camera, Advanced Setting, WiFi Setting and should be at least 50-60%. A poor WiFi signal can cause the playback of the live feed to be poor. Click here for advice if the WiFi signal strength is poor.

If the WiFi connection is strong, the next thing to check will be that the stream setup is set appropriately for your network. The defaults for this are below and can be found by logging in to the camera’s web interface and going to Setting, Camera, Stream Setup.

The H.264 bitrate should be left at the default of 1536, raising this can cause the camera to send more data than your router can cope with causing a jerky live stream.

The MJPEG stream should not be set higher than the default of 50. This is an uncompressed stream that is used for the cameras motion detection, not for recording or streaming, raising this can cause issues with the streaming as it puts a high load on the camera.

You should also check that you do not have too many tasks enabled, conflicting tasks can cause issues with the camera’s ability to stream well. You should only have one of task 7, 8, 9 or 10 enabled at any one time. For more information on setting up the task management page click here.

NVR IP address keeps changing.

You have setup and NVR with a camera successfully however it stops recording after a short time.

This may be due to your router assigning the NVR a new IP address very often. In this case the best way to prevent this from changing and your details in the Storage Setup page becoming incorrect is by setting the NVR to a static IP address.

Step 1:​

Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your NVR in the address bar. If you are not sure what this is, use the SADP tool to find it.​

Log in to the NVR using the “admin” username and password you have set on it.​

Go to: Device Access > Device Configuration > PoE Settings​

If you are connecting your camera via the Plug-and-Play method, then make sure that Network Camera Plug-and-Play is enabled on the POE port you will be connecting the camera to on this page.​

For any camera with a cable run under 100m, leave the Network Cable Distance as Short Distance.​

If you are connecting your camera manually by IP address, disable the Network Camera Plug-and-Play option for the channel that you plan to add the camera to.​

Step 4:​

Go to: Device Access > Device > Video Device​

For any Plug-and-Play camera, just make sure that it is in its inactive default state and then connect it to the port you reserved in step 3. After 20 seconds or so, the camera Status should turn to Connecting and then Online (you may need to click on Refresh to see this).​

For Manually added cameras, if you can see the camera in the List of Online Devices section, then just tick the box for the camera and then click + Add to Device List, which will then automatically add it to one of the channels you disabled Plug-and-Play on in the last step.​

Click on +Add at the top of the page and fill out the fields as follows:​

IP Address: Enter the IP address of your camera, using the ‘Test’ button to verify there is a camera at that address. ​

Device Name: This can be anything you like, as it is the name the camera will show with on your NVR. ​

Protocol: Select the camera’s manufacturer from this list, or failing that, use the ONVIF protocol (your camera will need to have ONVIF enabled for this to work). ​

Management Port: Enter the Server port set on the camera, which you can find in the SADP tool or in Network>Basic Settings>Port in the camera’s web browser interface. If you haven’t changed this, it is usually 8000 by default. ​

User Name: “admin” or the username of any other users set up on that camera. ​

Password: The password set with that user on the camera – if this is the same as the ‘Default Activation Password‘ you have set on the NVR, then you can tick this box instead. ​

Transfer Protocol: ‘Auto’ is normally best. ​

When these are completed, click OK.​

Your camera should then appear in the list of devices with an assigned channel, and an Online status, meaning it has been successfully added.​

How do I reset my Hikvision device to factory settings?

In some cases, you’ll need to reset your Hikvision device to its inactive factory state. This could be if you’re passing the system on to somebody else; if you’ve forgotten your password; or simply if something has gone wrong during the configuration, meaning you need to start afresh.

There are a couple of ways of doing this, the method you’ll use depends on whether you have a password to log into the device.

The camera often offline

1, Check whether the camera antenna is vertically upward.

2, please confirm the distance between the camera to your router, it better within 30FT, if the distance too far, the camera will offline.

3, If still offline, please give your camera version, we will give you a firmware to upgrade camera, it can enhances the camera’s signal.

Camera can’t connect to wifi

1, please confirm wifi is 2.4G or 5G, the camera only support 2.4G. And wifi password cannot exceed 12 characters.

2, if it is 4G wifi, please place the camera next to the router, then press the reset button for 6 seconds to add device again.

3, or you can connect the camera to your router with network cable, then switch to wirelessly connection.

How to using PTZ function on NVR?

1, please left click your mouse, you will see a smart menu below, click PTZ control.

2, click the arrow direction to move the camera.

Please note, if your camera is digital camera, you can’t zoom in or out in this interface, it only suit for optical zoom camera.

You need to go back to main menu, left click mouse again, click zoom in, then roll you mouse to zoom in.

How to share the device to other one?

a, Please go to the app–click “Share” icon–select permission and effective time.

How to setup motion tracking

If you add camera to NVR, please go to video detection to check whether your nvr support motion tracking.

Usually, NVR not support motion tracking, you need to add camera to the app Eseecloud, then add to NVR, so that you can setup motion tracking on the app.

How to set preset position cruise

1, go to setting interface—ptz control—cruise mode—select preset position cruise.

2, go back to record interface–click Preset–add more than two different positions–go to More–click cruise.

Camera not recording after install SD card

1, Please go to setting interface–Storage setting–local storage space–check the status of the SD card.

Fixed-point cruise on NVR

1) Right click the mouse–system setup–channel setup–PTZ setup. select correct channel. Add first cruise point,

2) click add to set first position (the default is 1, which does not need to be changed),

3) then click preset box select 2–add, add multiple cruise points in this way. You also can select “keep time” you want, preferably in five seconds or more.

4) And then click “?” question mark into the PTZ control interface–click PTZ control option to set first position, then click store.

5) change the preset box to 2, adjust the camera lens to second position–store

6) right click anywhere –return to the PTZ setting interface–apply—ok.

One device is linked to one user only. The NVR system can only be controlled by one authorized account, which can share the device with others to prevent attack or hacking.

There are 2 ways to share the device with others. For the admin user, please follow the instructions to share the device:

1.Type in “Menu Icon ” and navigate to “Devices”

2. Tape on “… ” > “Share”, You can select a single channel to share or select the entire NVR system to share

3.Share the device by typing in the user name you want to share and selecting the function as needed.

• The other user needs to register a Guard Viewer APP account and provide the user name for sharing.

• After that, when this user login the APP will find the device by navigating to “Devices”.

4.Share the device by generating a QR code

• Create a sharing password and set the valid period

• Click “Generate”, your APP will generate a QR code

• Other users can use the APP to add the device by scanning the QR code you sent

Four cameras or above not working is an abnormal situation. It’s not only a camera issue, which could be related to a power supply or power splitter connected to four cameras

If the power supply or power splitter connected to four cameras is broken, which can’t provide power supply to cameras

Step:

(1）Change to another 12V 2A Power Supply to connect to four cameras to have a try. We wanna make sure if this is related to the power adapter

(2) Change another 1-4 way power splitter to connect four cameras to have a try. We wanna make sure if this is related to the power adapter

( If you do not have another power adapter/splitter, plz use the other power adapter connected to the four normal cameras)

After making sure the power supply or power splitter is doing fine, but still no camera image, which means the DVR box is having issue

Network Setup for NVR/DVR/IP Camera before adding to Guarding Vision

The Following network settings must be checked before adding the device to Guarding vision App.

Method 1: From NVR Local menu

Step 1: Right Click on the NVR Monitor and select “Menu”.

Step 2: Select “Configuration” from the Menu options.

Step 3: Select “Network” and check the option “Enable DHCP” Click “Apply”

Step 4: Make sure your NVR/DVR obtained an “IPV4 Address” and “Preferred DNS Server” values automatically. If not, check your network settings and make sure your device is properly connected to your network router or switch.

Step 5: Select “Platform Access” and check “Enable”.  You will be taken to the service terms window.

Step 6: Create a “Verification Code” check the “Guarding Vision service terms” click “OK”.

Step 7: Click “Apply” to apply the settings. The status will change to “Online”. The QR Code being displayed on your device “Platform Access” page can be scanned with Guarding Vision app to add the device into your App. To proceed with adding the device into the app scroll down to “Adding NVR/DVR to Guarding Vision App”.

Method 2: From the NVR/DVR/IP Camera Web page.

Step 1: Input the IP address of the NVR into the address bar and login with the credentials.

Step 3: Once the account is created, select “Device Management” and select “Add” to add a new device.

Step 4: In the “Add Device” pop-up window, input the device serial number (Last 9 digits of the serial number found on the device sticker) and click on “Search”.

Guarding Vision Offline Issue

Purpose:

This document provides steps to fix the Platform Access “Offline” status issue on your NVR/DVR.

Solution:

The most common cause for “Offline” status is when the “Preferred DNS Server” space is empty. Follow the steps below to fix this issue.

NVR Local menu

Step 1: On the monitor connected to the NVR, Right click and go to Menu  Configuration  Network  General

Step 2: Enter the “Preferred DNS server” address as 8.8.8.8

(Note: If “Enable DHCP” is checked, you can check the option “Enable DNS DHCP” which will let the NVR/DVR pullup its own Preferred DNS Server)

Step 3: Click “Apply”. The device might take a few seconds before applying the new values.

Step 4: Now go to Menu  Configuration  Network  Platform Access. The status should show “Online”. The device might take up to 60 sec before showing the new status. Click “Back” wait 60 sec and check the status again.

(Note: You can scan the QR code on your “Platform Access” page to add the device directly to your Guarding Vision App.)

How To Upgrade Blue Iris Demo Software With An Amcrest License Without Losing Settings

If you are currently using a demo version of the Amcrest Blue Iris software upgrading your account will not reset your settings. All settings will be retained on the software after the upgrade is complete. For more information on how to upgrade your demo version of Blue Iris to paid version, please follow the steps provided below.

Step 1: Open your Blue Iris software and click on the Settings option (  ) in the upper left corner of the interface and click on Settings/info.

Step 2: In the About tab, click on the Register now option.

Step 3: In the Activation screen, click Next

Step 4: Enter the Amcrest license number or key you have purchased into the activation box. Click Next to continue.

Step 5: Click Finish once the code has been activated.

Step 5: The new license key has now been applied to your Blue Iris software. The information can be viewed in the License Key section of the menu. Click OK to continue.

The “Evaluation Copy” overlay will be removed from the live view screen and your previous settings will be accessible throughout the software.

Blue Iris UI3 update Issue

If you are attempting to update to a new version of the Blue Iris software and receive an error such as:

this is not a result of a bug or issue with the software itself but is a result of an update made to Visual Studio C++ compiler which is the software used to build Blue Iris. To resolve the issue, a simple reinstall of the software will fix the problem, however, if you wish to resolve the issue without reinstalling the software, please refer to the information below.

A resolution will be based on the which version of Windows you are running. For instance, if you are operating on a 64-bit version of Windows you will need to search and run the VCREDIST_X64.exe to resolve the issue. If you have a 32 bit system you will run the VCREDIST_X32.exe.

If this file is not found on your computer you may run it from the following URL blueirissoftware.com/VCREDIST_X64.exe (or VCREDIST_X32.exe for 32 bit).

Step 1: Load the VCREDIST .exe file and click Run

Step 2: Click on Install.

Step 3: A restart of your computer will be required to complete the install. Click on Restart to restart your computer.

After your computer has finished restarting please load the Blue Iris software and run the update as normal. If this does not fix the issue a full re-install of the software may be required. To re-install the Blue Iris software on your computer, access the Control Panel and click on “Uninstall a program”.

Locate the Blue Iris Software from the Programs and Features list and click Uninstall. Select “Yes” to remove Blue Iris from your computer. For more information on how to install Blue Iris on your computer click

Note: It is recommended to not delete any registry entries or license activations during this process.

Click Finish, to restart your computer and complete the uninstall.

Blue Iris Not Automatically Starting up After a Crash?

If your Blue Iris software crashes or becomes unresponsive and the software does not restart automatically with its last settings displayed then the software may need to be ran as a Windows service. By default, Blue Iris 5 is not set to run as a Windows service so therefore would have to be implemented manually. For more information on how to set Blue Iris as a Windows service, refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Open Blue Iris 5 and click on the settings menu located in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 2: In the Settings menu, click on the Startup tab.

Inside the Startup tab, make sure the “Use last window position” option is selected in the Window field then click on the “Run as a Windows service (no UI, run again for console)” checkbox. This will enable your software to run as a Windows service. Click OK to continue.

Step 3: The service will install automatically. Click OK to reboot or restart the Blue Iris software.

The software is now running as a Windows service which allows the software to reboot with last settings in tact after a crash or service interruption.

How to Add a Camera Into Blue Iris

The camera and the computer you are using must be on the same network during setup. Please make sure you are running the most current version of Blue Iris during setup. The latest version of Blue Iris can be downloaded here.

There are 2 ways to add a camera into Blue Iris. You can right click on the main menu, or click on the settings menu (  )in the top-left corner of the interface.

Adding a Camera

To begin, right-click on the main interface or click on the settings menu () to access the “New camera” menu.

In the new camera menu, give your camera a name, a short name (for URLs and filenames), choose a type, which in this case will be a Network IP, and enable any options such as, enabling audio, motion detection, etc. Click OK to continue.

This will open two windows. The top window will be Network IP Camera Configuration. Enter the address of your camera (IP Domain or DDNS as well as RTSP address) and click on the Find/Inspect… button on the right to confirm. Enter the username and password, select the make as Amcrest, select the model of your device (ProHD and HDseries cameras as “ProHD 1080p RTSP/HTTP”), and specify the RTSP and ONVIF ports.

Note: If you choose the other option profile, “ProHD/IP2/3/4/4M Mainstream RTSP” features such as PTZ or other related features may not be accessible. Please use ProHD 1080P RTSP/HTTP in the Model field.

After filling in the information required, click OK. The second window will appear titled New Camera. Here you can make many adjustments to the way you want Blue Iris to configure your camera.

The page is defaulted to the Video tab. The options available for adjustment are Image Format and Frame Rate, PTZ Controls, Recording through Blue Iris, Alerts through Blue Iris, and other features. Once you have finished adjusting any necessary settings, click on OK to add the camera. The live view screen of your camera will show in the interface.

How to Renew a Key in Blue Iris 5

Any expired keys in the Blue Iris 5 software will cause the software not to work with any connected cameras and may cause them to be inaccessible. Keys in the Blue Iris software provide up to one year of service from the initial start date of your license and will need to be renewed before they expire.

Note: Please ensure you are using the most up to date version of Blue Iris. To download the most up to date version of Blue Iris, click here.

Step 1: Click on the settings menu (  ) located in the top-left corner of the interface and select “Settings”.

Step 2: In the bottom left corner of the Blue Iris Settings menu, click on the Upgrade/renew button to renew the key for your license.

Note: The new expiration date will be displayed in the menu and will be good for one year of the initial start date.

When you have purchased or renewed your account you will receive a new code in your email. Once the new key provided is entered into the Activation menu, press the “OK” button.

Follow the on screen instructions to install the software. You can use the demo version or purchase a license. There is are options for a fill license (up to 64 cameras) for $69.95 or a Lite license for a single camera for $34.95.

Note:  Any Blue Iris keys that have expired support have to be renewed or upgraded for it to work in Blue Iris version 5. Additionally, if you are upgrading from version 4, please allow access and remove version 4 from your system. Please say NO to deleting any of your settings. Settings are automatically backed up to C:\Program Files\Blue Iris5\backup_upgrade_50.reg. Click OK to continue.

Now that you have your software installed, it’s time to start adding your cameras. Ensure that you have already installed your cameras and they are working correctly in a web browser. For more information on how to access your camera in a web browser (web UI), click here

How to Enable Two Way Audio Using Blue Iris

If your camera supports two-way audio and you are using it in Blue Iris, two-way audio can be configured directly in the software. Please make sure a compatible microphone is set up and configured on your computer before enabling it in Blue Iris. For more information on how to enable two-way audio using Blue Iris please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Log into Blue Iris and access the device.

Step 2: Click on the Blue Iris software settings icon.

Step 3: Click on the Audio tab and enable the Enable audio capture hardware option.

Note: Make sure the proper microphone is selected in the Device dropdown menu.  Use the Gain slider to adjust and test the microphone audio.

Step 4: Select the proper output device for your computer in the Output (Device) dropdown menu and click OK.

Step 5: On the main interface click the speaker option to hear the audio from the device. Then click and hold the microphone icon and speak into the microphone.

How To Install The Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

Amcrest Orion is a video surveillance software application that provides an all-in-one, full-featured solution to manage and monitor Amcrest network cameras, NVRs, and DVRs, etc. The software supports up to 64 devices for free with a maximum of 256 channels. It is currently a Windows based only software, however, to download the latest version of this software click here.

For more information on how to install the software, please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Download the Amcrest Orion software and open the .exe file.  Select the software license agreement and click Next.

Step 2: Select an Installation Path if needed using the Browse option. Click Install.

Note: Allow the components to install on your computer.

Step 3: Click Run.

Step 4: Select a network mode and the network card and click Next Step.

Step 5: Set the TLS self adaptive mode if necessary. Please note, this is disabled by default but can be enabled if needed. Click Finish.

Note: TLS self adaptive mode is a security feature that allows Amcrest devices to automatically switch between Transport Layer Security (TLS) versions 1.2 and 1.3 depending on the capabilities of the connected device. This ensures that the highest level of security is always used, while also avoiding compatibility issues with older devices.

Step 6: Download the Client software to your computer.

Note: Click proceed anyway in the browser if needed to download the client software.

Step 7: Click Download and follow the steps to install the client software to your computer and run the client software.

Step 8: Enter the IP address found on the server client into the Server Address field. The default username will be system. Enter a password for the client account into the interface, click Next Step.

Note: Set security questions, this information will be used to access your client software if you forgot the password. Click OK. This will load the client software.

How To Add An Amcrest Camera To Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

Before connecting your device to the Amcrest Orion software, please make sure the device is initialized and on the same network as the computer. You will need the username and password for the device before you are able to add it to the camera. For more information, please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Access the client software and select the configuration icon. Select Device.

Step 2: All connected devices should be displayed in the Discover Device menu, however, click the Refresh button to refresh the interface if needed.  Select the device and click Add to Device List.

Step 3: Enter the password for the device and click OK.

The device will be added successfully.

Step 4: To view the device, access the main menu and click on Monitoring Center. Double click the device from the device list to view the live feed.

How to Use the Dewarping Features on a Fisheye Camera Using Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

Fisheye dewarping (Fisheye unwrapping) provides a correction in the distortion of images obtained from a camera equipped with a fisheye lens. This allows the user to view different aspects and views of the 360° image provided by the fisheye lens of the camera. For more information on how to use the fisheye dewarping functions in the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software, please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Log into the Amcrest Orion Software and select Monitoring Center.

Step 2: Select your fisheye camera from the device list to view the live feed. Right-click on the live feed to access the live view options menu. Hover your mouse pointer over Installation Mode and select an installation mode.

Installation Modes Explained

	Wall Mount: This allows you to access preset fisheye features based on a wall or sideways mount installation.
	Ceiling Mount: This allows you to access preset fisheye features based on a ceiling or straight mount installation.
	Ground Mount: This allows you to access preset fisheye features based on a ground position mount installation.

Note: Different installation modes will provide different dewarping functions. For more information on the dewarping functions provided with each installation mode, please refer to Dewarping Features Explained.

Step 3: Hover your mouse over Fisheye View and select a dewarping option from the provided list of icons.

Wall Mount

	Provides the user to view a full spectrum live feed of the camera without dewrapping features enabled.
	Provides a full, square image, of the live feed. The live feed can be controlled with the mouse in an up and down motion.
	Provides a four-layered, square image of the live feed. The live feed can be controlled using the control center in the first quadrant of the live view screen. Each layer is depicted with different colors: First Quadrant (Control): Red, Second Quadrant: Neon Green, Third Quadrant: Blue, Fourth Quadrant.
	Provides a four-layered, square image of the live feed with a central control center. Hover the mouse over the center to populate the control center. Each layer is depicted with different colors: First Quadrant: Neon Green, Second Quadrant: Blue, Third Quadrant: Yellow, Fourth Quadrant: Purple.
	Provides an eight-layered image view of the live feed with one central control center. Each layer can be moved in the layer or via the control center and is depicted with different colors: Feed 1: Neon Green, Feed 2: Blue, Feed 3: Yellow, Feed 4: Purple, Feed 5: Turquoise, Feed 6: Red, Feed 7: Orange, Feed 8: Green

Ceiling Mount

	Provides the user to view a full spectrum live feed of the camera without dewrapping features enabled.
	Provides a 360°expanded panorama of the live feed as well as an independent sub-image on the top. The 360° panorama supports zoom and left and right scanning. All movements are controlled by the top sub-image.
	Provides two inverted live view images on both the top and bottom feed. Use the mouse to adjust and move the feed in a left or right simultaneously.
	Provides a 360°panorama view based on two independent left and right sub images. The sub images support zoom and 360° left and right pan. Hover the mouse over the bottom center to display a panoramic viewing option.
	Provides a four-layered view of the live feed. Each quadrant is centrally controlled via a control center and depicted with different colors. First Quadrant: Green, Second Quadrant: Blue, Third Quadrant: Yellow, Fourth Quadrant: Purple.

How To Download Recordings Using Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

Recordings in the playback menu can be downloaded (exported) using the Amcrest Orion Surveillance software. To download the free software click here.

Downloading a Recording

Step 1: Open the Amcrest Orion surveillance software and select Download Center.

Step 2: Select the device in the Resources menu and click the calendar option in the Time menu. Select a date and time range of the recordings. Click OK.

Step 3: Click Search. Recordings can be accessed in a timeline or file format. If downloading from a timeline range, select a start and end time in the timeline, enter the software user password and click OK. Verify the start and end time of the recording and click OK. The recording will begin to download.

Step 4: Click the Downloaded tab to view and locate the storage path of the recording. Click the  icon to locate the downloaded recording on your computer.

Note: If downloading multiple recordings, it is recommended to use the File menu. Select all recordings you want to download and select Download Selected File. To download a single file, click the Operation icon.

How to Customize Video Settings Using Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

If you are having issues customizing the video settings for your device in the app then you can use Amcrest Orion Surveillance software to adjust these settings. Step 1: Open the Amcrest Orion software and select the settings  icon. Select Device.

Step 2: Select Device Config, select the device, and click Parameter Setting.

Step 3: Use the video settings options provided in the camera properties menu to customize the video settings. Click Apply.

How To Setup Recording Schedules In The Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

The Amcrest Orion Surveillance software allows you the opportunity to set your added device to record on motion or on the continuous (general) recording schedules. The software uses a recording plan template to set recording schedules. For more information on how to set up recording schedules, please refer to the information provided below.

Click on the  icon located in the Home menu and select Storage Plan.

Setting a Recording Plan

A general recording plan will allow the software and selected devices to record 24/7.

Ensure the option is enabled and click the Recording Time dropdown menu. The schedule will be set to record 24/7, all days of the week, however, can be set to recording during the week or only on the weekends. However, a custom Time Template can be used if needed.

Enter a name for the custom time template and click the period settings (  )option. A total of 6 periods can be set if needed by clicking the “+” icon. Enter a start and end time for the schedule. For instance, in this example we will set it to only recording from 6am (0600) – 4pm (1600). Select which days the schedule will apply and click OK.

The schedule will now be set in the software. Click OK.

Select the newly created recording schedule template from the Recording Time menu. In the Recording Channel, select the devices you would like the schedules to apply. Click OK.

The storage plan will be will now be applied to the selected devices.

The same concept can be applied to motion detection recording plans as well if needed.

How To Set an Email Server In Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

Email Setup will be dependent on your specific email provider. In this example, we will be using Gmail. A email server can be used to send email notifications or during password recovery. For more information on how to setup an email server, please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Open the Amcrest Orion Surveillance software, select the  option, and select System Parameters.

Step 2: Select Email Server and enable the option.

Step 3: Select the email provider from the SMTP Server Type dropdown menu and enter all requested information into the interface. Please note, the password should be your Gmail generated app password. **Please refer to Allow Less Secure Apps (Updated) section for more details.

Allowing Less Secure Apps (Updated)

As of May 30th, 2022, Google will be removing the allow less secure apps option, this means a generated password will need to be entered that will allow email alerts to come through on your account. Before proceeding, please ensure 2 factor authentication is enabled in your account settings. For more information on how to do this, please refer to the information provided below.

1.) In Gmail, click the account avatar/icon picture located in the upper right of the window.
2.) Now click the blue button that says “Manage Your Google Account”

Once on the account setting page please click “Security”

3) Click onApp passwords

4) Enter your email password, and click Next.
5) Select an option from the provided drop down menus and select Custom. Enter a name for the authentication and click Generate.

6) Google will provide a security password which must be entered into the device’s Email Setup interface in the device’s web UI.

Step 4: Click Test Email. Once confirmed, click Save.

How To Setup Views and Tours Using Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

How To Create a View

When creating a tour it is highly recommended to create a view first before creating the tour. A view is a collection of cameras/channels shown in a window. This can be a collection of devices from the same DVR/NVR or a collection from different devices in a single view. For efficiency purposes, it is recommended to keep cameras from the same NVR in the same view. Conversely, this is not mandatory and each view can be customized based on your needs.

Step 1: Log into the Amcrest Orion Software and select Monitoring Center.

Note: Views can be customized to a range of a single camera to 64 cameras simultaneously. Please keep in mind the more cameras that are opened the more network resources are being used. Our recommendation is to set a max of 9 camera views or less but in our example, we will use a wide variety to show the flexibility of the feature.

Step 2: Select each device from the device list and click the save icon (  ). Enter a name for the View and click OK.

Note: If you are using a DVR/NVR with multiple channels, it is necessary to expand the device to show the individual channels associated with your device.

If you are performing this procedure on multiple computers, the process will need to be performed on each desktop/laptop. For this reason, we recommend renaming the cameras in a way to know which cameras/channels go together.

Step 3: Select View. Select the dropdown option next to the View folder. Select the newly created view to load the live feed of the cameras in the interface.

Tour Setup

When you have finished creating the view you can now start configuring a tour. A tour will allow the software to shift between multiple PTZ presets set by the user in the software. If using a PTZ camera, please navigate to Add Device menu and select the edit icon (  ) for the device. Select Video Channel  and ensure the Camera Type is set to PTZ Camera. Click OK.

Note: At least 2 presets must be set to configure a tour.

Step 1: Access the Monitoring Center, select the device, access the PTZ menu, and select the down arrow.

Step 2: Use the PTZ option to rotate the camera to a specific point. Click the Edit (  ) icon and name the tour. Click the checkmark (  ) when finished.

Note: Click the Go icon (  ) to call a preset. The camera will rotate to a related position.

Step 3: Once the presets are created, click the  icon and select the Edit (  )icon.

Step 4: Enter a name for the tour and click the add (  ) icon. Select all applicable presets related to the tour and click OK.

Note: Click the play (  ) icon to run the tour.

Step 5: Navigate to the Resources menu, right click on the device to set a tour duration.

Note: To stop the tour, click on the stop (  ) icon in the Tour (  )menu.

How to Recover a Forgotten Admin Password on Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

If you have forgotten the admin password to log into the Amcrest Orion Surveillance software, the password can be recovered using the Forgotten Password option. This option can be found on the login screen once the software has been opened. For more information on how to retrieve your forgotten password, please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Open the Amcrest Orion Surveillance software and click Forgotten Password.

Step 2: Verify the account’s username and click Next Step.

Step 3: The password can be reset using security questions or through email verification. Please note, the password cannot be reset if there is no email server established. Once the security questions or answered, click Next Step.

Step 4: Enter the new password into the provided fields, click Next Step.

Step 5: Click Log In Now.

Note: Enter the new password and click Log In to open the software. Select Remember Password or Auto Login to allow the software to open on your machine without having to reenter it.

How To View Events Using The Playback Feature In Amcrest Orion

The monitoring center allows the user to view both the live view and playback of a connected device. The monitoring center can be found on the Home menu of the software. The playback option allows the user to view motion, human, or vehicle detection events retained on the device.

Step 1: Click on the Playback option and select your device. Double click to load the initial recording in the timeline.

Note: Use the timeline to manually scroll through the events of the day. The calendar option can be used to choose different dates and times of the events.

To view filter and view specific record types, such as human/vehicle events, click the filter icon (  )
