The VDG Sense app features:
– Add servers: add multiple VDG Sense servers to your app, making it incredibly easy to switch between servers and different sites.

– Select cameras: select your camera by swiping horizontally and vertically through camera locations. Recognize the video channel by thumbnail and camera name.

– View: view images full screen with one-tap zooming. Zoom in on any object by simply tapping the live video. View the next or previous camera by swiping horizontally.

– Control: control any PTZ enabled camera in VDG Sense directly, using the joystick control for pan/tilt and zooming in landscape position. Quick selection of the first six pre-sets available on your camera.

– Store: save any incident directly to your photo library by tapping on the image icon. Share the images by using your choice of any other app, such as your e-mail app or messaging app.

Chapter 1 – Introduction

This manual explains all necessary steps to create a fully functional Sense installation in a relatively short time. It assumes a simple standalone or single-server, single-client setup where all components are configured and accessible via the network:

Chapter 2 – Installation

To install VDG sense the VDGSenseSetup.exe is required. It can be downloaded in the support section here: https://support.tkhsecurity.com/downloads/software/ website. It is a single executable installer which include all required components to install VDG Sense as server, client or standalone system. The diagram below shows the components of VDG Sense Setup.

2.1 Versioning

After starting the VDG Sense Setup the first page the version details page. It shows version information of all included and already installed Sense components.

2.2 Standalone installation

To install VDG Sense as standalone system check both ’Client’ and ’Server’ boxes. It will install the following Sense components:

The installation package VDG Sense Setup is also used to update VDG Sense to a newer (or lower) version. Use the same procedure as described in paragraph 2.2 and 2.3. IMPORTANT: an update will not remove the license or settings.

Chapter 3 – Starting VDG Sense client

3.1 Signing in

Installing VDG Sense as client or standalone system will put a desktop icon with the name ‘Sense Client’. By double-clicking on ‘Sense Client’ the application will start and show the login dialog, see below.

It contains the following items:

3.2 Menu

After signin the main application starts by showing the top menu bar. If a user with administrator rights signs-in, no layout will be shown. If a normal user signs-in either the first layout in the layoutlist is shown or the multi-layout which is configured as default.

Chapter 4 – License

Sense is protected by a software license key. In order to use the product a software license file is required. A Sense license only needs to be applied to the ‘Sense Video Manager’. As ‘Sense Video Manager’ does not have a graphical user interface the license needs to be uploaded and activated using the ‘Sense Client’. The license key can either reside on the license USB stick or provided by e-mail.

4.1 Upload license

Activation is the process by which the software and license key are validated to ensure that they are used in accordance with the purchased license and services. Activation is intended to protect your end user rights as well as TKH Security’s rights as a software author. Only genuine Sense software entitles you to critical updates and technical support. You may not be able to use Sense software if it is not activated.

Chapter 5 – Configuration

Sense settings are visible after clicking the toolset icon in the topbar menu. Settings are grouped in tabs where each tab holds specific settings related to the name of the tab. Normal procedure to setup a Sense system is to work through the setup tabs from left to right, starting with the server tab and ending with user management. Configuration is normally done using the administrator account.

5.1 Servers

The server tab holds the list of servers and settings related to the selected server. From left to right you see the serverlist, the cameralist of the selected server, settings of the selected server and server statistics related to CPU, memory, network and harddisk load.

 5.1.1 Add via find

Click ’Find’ in the lower left corner of the screen to open the find dialog. After a few seconds it shows the list of all servers found in the local network on all NIC’s. Select the server(s) and click ’Add’ to add selected server(s) to the configuration and close the dialog.

5.1.2 Add manually

To add a server press ’+’ in the lower left corner of the screen. Enter the server address in the dialog which appears. On a standalone system the localhost server (127.0.0.1) is automatically added to the list. In a server-client configuration the server is also automatically added to the list after login.

The ’Devices’ tab contains the list and configuration of devices for the selected server. The server can be selected just below the ’Server’ tab.

The devicelist has three sections which are from left to right:

5.2.1 Add via find

Click ’Find’ in the lower left corner of the screen to open the find dialog. After a few seconds it shows the list of all devices found in the local network on all NIC’s, including intercom servers and IO devices. Select one or more cameras and click ’Add’ to add selected devices to the configuration. It will also close the dialog.

5.2.2 Add manually

Click ’+’ in the lower left corner of the screen to add a new device to the list.

Fill in all required fields to connect to the device. See the list below for explanation on the fields.

5.3 Layouts

The ’Layouts’ tab is used to configure all (multi)layouts. Layouts are required in operator mode to display live or recorded video or to handle (video)events. They can be custom designed to fit the needs of the operator.  The layout manager is a floating menu which is used to create, delete and modify (multi)layouts and panels.

A layout consists of panels where each panel has a specific function. For instance a panel can be used to display live video, recorded video, for playback controls, display a map or to manage events. The complete list of panel types can be found in the ’Type’ list in the panel section of the ’Layout Manager’.

5.3.1 Live layout

Click ’New’ in the ’Layouts’ menu of the ’Layout Manager’ to create a new layout. The following dialog will appear:

This dialog provides three ways of creating new layouts:

The icon in the lower left corner of each panel identifies the type of panel. A panel for live video uses a camera icon as identifier. After selecting a panel its properties are shown in ’Panels’ section of the Layout manager. To assign a deviceto the selected panel select the camera in the ’Device’ list of the panel properties.

5.3.2 Playback layout

Click ’New’ in the ’Layouts’ menu of the ’Layout Manager’ to create a new layout. The following dialog will appear:

This dialog provides three ways of creating new layouts:

This layout is composed of 4 playback-panels in the upper half of the layout and controls to actually playback recorded video in the lower half of the layout. The panel to display recorded video uses a triangle icon as identifier. To assign a camera to the selected panel select the camera in the ’Devices’ list of the panel properties.

5.3.3 Multi layout

A ’Multi Layout’ is a group of layouts with a pre-defined monitor selection. It is used to quickly assign several layouts at once to different monitors. They are also used to define the default layouts to be displayed based on which user logs in. User Management is explained in the next paragraph. To create a multi-layout click ’Edit’ in the ’Multi-Layout’ menu of the layout manager, a dialog will appear:

On the left side of the dialog is the list of multi layouts. Multi layouts can be added, removed or edited by using the buttons below the list of ’Multi layouts’. On the right side of the dialog is the list of monitors which belong to the selected multi layout. Monitors can be added or removed using the buttons below the ’Layouts’ list. The monitor numbering corresponds to the monitor numbering in the ’Monitors’ tab and in the top menu bar. To assign a layout to a monitor, select one from the list of layouts next to the monitor icon.

NOTE: a layout only can be assigned once per multi layout. When finished click ’Close’ to close the dialog.

5.4 User Management

Sense User Management provides the administrator with the ability to control the access level of users logged in to Sense. Access to cameras, servers, layouts and several other functions can be limited to groups of users. In Sense this is called a ’User Group’, it holds the privileges of users assigned to the group.

5.4.1 Users & Groups

The Users & Groups is used to manage all user related settings in Sense. On the left side of the screen is the list of user groups. User groups can be added, removed or modified using the buttons below this list user groups. On the right side of the screen are the privileges which can be assigned to the groups, divided by subtabs.

Click the ’+’ button at the bottom below the group list to add a user group, a dialog will appear where the name of the user group can be entered. Click ’Ok’ in the dialog to create the group and close the dialog.

Create User:

Click ’+’ below the ’Users’ list in the users subtab to create a user. A dialog appears where the name, username and password of the user can be entered.

Create Devicegroups:

A devicegroup can be used to define which cameras a user is allowed to see. Open tab ’Device groups’ to create a device group. On the left side is the list of created device groups. Using the buttons below the list devicegroups can be added, removed or edited. On the right side is the list of cameras.

Click ’+’ below the ’Device group’ list to create a devicegroup. A dialog appears where the name of the device group can be entered. Use a meaningful name, like ’All cameras’. Click ’Ok’ to close the dialog and add the device group to the list. Drag and drop the cameras from the cameralist on the right to one of the device groups on the left.

Assigning privileges:

If all users, layouts, multilayouts, servers and devicegroups are created, they can be drag and dropped to the corresponding usergroup. To remove a privileges select the it in the usergroup and Click ’-’ below the grouplist or press the ‘Delete’ button on your keyboard.

As an example, the steps to create a usergroup called Operators should look like this:

5.4.2 Configure Autologin

Sense Client can be configured to launch automatically on Windows startup after windows login and to automatically sign in to a Sense Server. Click on the gear wheel in the lower left corner of the dialog to open the settings.

On the left side of the screen the default server, username and password can be entered. On the right side the program language, videowall mode and the automatic startup/sign-in option can be selected. In normal operation the videowall mode does not need to be selected and is beyond the scope of this guide.

Live mode or ’Home’ is accessed by clicking on the ’Eye’ icon on the upper left corner of the screen of the first monitor. This icon is also used to open the menu where Layouts can be selected. See below for a screenshot of a multi-monitor setup. The left monitor shows a layout with live cameras and the right monitor shows a layout for playback. These are the layouts which are created in ’Setup’ mode.

6.1 Live Menu

The Live menu is accessed by clicking on the ’Eye’ icon on the upper left corner of the screen of the first monitor.

It contains the following items:

Multi Layouts: Contains all multi-layouts available for the currently logged in user. Selecting a multilayout will update all monitors which are configured in this multi-layout.

Layouts: Contains all layouts available for the currently logged in user. Selecting a layout will update the currently selected monitor with this layout.

Cameras: Contains all cameras available for the currently logged in user sub-grouped by location names. The subgroup ’All locations’ contains all cameras. Selecting a camera will update the currently selected videopanel in the layout.

Camera Sequences: Contains camera sequences for the currently logged in user.

6.2 Tools Menu

The tools menu is accessed by clicking on the ’Toolbox’ icon on the upper left corner of the screen of the first monitor.

It contains the following items:

Search, provides functions to search for events and meta data.

Face Match, eventlist for use with FaceR algorithms.

Database, maintains person list for use with CarR and FaceR algorithms. FaceR and CarR are available if included in the license.

System Alerts: Opens the System Alerts dialog

Video Tags: Opens the Video Tag dialog

6.3 Live

This layout contains 4 live panels where each panel has the following features:

6.3.1 PTZ controls

The live control panel is needed to control PTZ domes. This panel can be pre-configured in a layout, but it will also automatically appear after double-clicking on a videopanel with a PTZ device; the camera will be displayed in fullscreen mode including the dome controls. PTZ commands are sent to the camera which is currently selected (which has a green border).

To pan and tilt a ptz camera hold the left mouse button and move the cursor over the orange dial. The speed of the dome is determined by the cursor-distance from the center of the dial; close to the center the speed is low, on the outside the speed is high. The buttons have the following functions:

	Focus near.
	Focus far.
	Switch auto focus/auto iris on.
	Zoom in.
	Zoom out.
	Open iris.
	Close iris.
	Go to preset ‘Home’.
	Go to preset 1.
	Rotate 180 degrees.
	Save the current position of the dome as a preset.
	Go to the selected preset in the list.
	Opens the preset dialog to give each preset a name.

6.4 Playback

Below is an example of a playback layout that has been created for an operator.

This layout contains 4 playback panels and playback controls where each panel has the following features:

6.4.1 Playback control options

For creating a playback layout, it is needed to create a layout that contains one or multiple panels of the type ‘Playback’ and a control panel to start/stop the playback. There are two types of playback controls available. By default when creating a playback layout or when switching to fullscreen playback, the timeline panel is used.

Option 1: Timeline panel (Preferred)

The red line indicates what the current time/date is of the playbacked recording and thumbnails of the recordings are visible. Also motion detection (if enabled for this camera) is shown in yellow.

	Playback backwards. For streaming codec video only I-Frames are played back.
	Stop playback.
	Playback forward.
	Opens the export image dialog, explained in section 6.3.3 on exporting images.
	Quick option to go to a specific date
	Motion detection
	Option to visualize motion detection, vca events or audio on the timeline panel

Option 2: Alternatively, there is the playback controls panel as a legacy option with the more classic control buttons and slider.

The Playback controls panel is needed to playback recorded video. It has two trackbars where the top bar has a resolution in days and the lower trackbar has a resolution of 24 hours (of the selected day). The playback speed is set by the ’red-green’ trackbar; red is backwards, green is forwards. The date and time on the left and right side of the trackbars correspond to the first and last recorded video image of the cameras which are visible in the layout. From left to right the function of the buttons are as follows:

	Go to the beginning of the recordings of the cameras visible in the layout.
	One minute backwards
	One frame backwards.
	Playback backwards. For streaming codec video only I-Frames are played back.
	Stop playback.
	Playback forward.
	One frame forwards.
	One minute forwards.
	Go to the end of the recordings of the cameras visible in the layout.
	Opens the date time search panel.
	Set export range, explained in section 6.3.2 on exporting video.
	Enable audio playback and set playback speed to realtime (panel should be selected to hear the audio).
	Opens the export image dialog, explained in section 6.3.3 on exporting images.
	Opens the export video dialog, explained in section 6.3.2 on exporting images.

6.4.2 Export Video

Recorded video (and audio) can be exported to different media: CD/DVD, hard drive, USB stick or network share. A single export can hold video of multiple devices from multiple servers in the same time range. The video itself is exported in Sense format, it is not transcoded to a generic codec. The export comes with a program called ’Sense Player’ which is used to playback exported video. To open the ’Export Video’ dialog press the export video button in ’Playback Controls’.

Other options are using the playback controls trackbar or using the start/endtime edit box in the video export dialog:

Timerange using trackbar:
Click ’E’ in the playback controls panel, three buttons appear: ’Start’, ’Clear’ and ’Stop’. Set the thumb-tracker to the starting point of the video that needs to be exported and click ’Start’. Set the thumb tracker to the end point of the video that needs to be exported and press ’Stop’. The time range is highlighted in green. To clear the selection and start over click ’Clear’. After defining the range open the video export dialog. The camera(panel) which has focus will automatically be added to the list of export cameras. The begin and end time are also set automatically.

Timerange using dialog:
Video can also be exported manually without using the trackbar to define the time range. When opening the export video dialog it will use the current playback time (position of thumbtracker) and set the start time with current time minus 5 minutes and end time to current time plus 5 minutes. The camera(panel) which has focus will automatically be added to the list of export cameras.

6.4.3 Export Image

Single images or snapshots can be exported from recorded video to a PDF document which can be stored to any windows storage location (like a USB stick). The PDF report contains information about the exported image and comments which can be entered in the Export Image dialog. To create a report select the playback panel with the image that should be exported and click the ’Disk’ button in the ’Playback Controls’ (see section 6.3.1 on playback controls), it will open the dialog as shown below:

Q1: How should I clean the surface of the Kasa Cam Outdoor?

You can clean dirt off your Kasa Cam Outdoor using a damp washcloth and wiping the edges off. We recommend caution when wiping the face of the camera so that you do not scratch the lens.

Q2: Do I need a hub for the Kasa Cam Outdoor?

Some Kasa Cam Outdoors are hub free and designed to work straight out of the box with your existing wireless network. All you need to get started is a safe and covered outlet for you to plug the camera AC adapter into, for example, KC200.

While some must work with a Kasa Hub and users will need to add the Hub first on Kasa APP, for example, KC300.

Q3: How far can I place the Kasa Cam Outdoor from my Wi-Fi router?

The average range of Kasa Cam Outdoor cameras can be 25-50 feet away from the router. This range varies based on your router model, home type and wireless interference. You can test your camera’s signal strength from the device settings menu from within the app.

Q4: Is Kasa Cam Outdoor battery powered?

Only KC300S2 and KC310S2 support battery-powered, the other Kasa Cam Outdoor can only be powered by being plugged into an electrical outlet.

Q5: Is KC200 completely wire free?

The kasa cameras are not completely wire free, as long as you need to power them on with the provided power cord.

However, kasa cameras are wirelessly connected to your Wi-Fi network after successfully setting them up.

Q6: Is there an extension cable for KC200?

We do have the extension cable for KC200, and its model is KA200E. Please click here for more details.

Q7: How do I turn my Kasa Cam Outdoor Siren on/off?

From the live view screen, tap the siren icon to be taken to the siren on/off button. Tap once to trigger the siren, tap again to disarm it.

Q8: What can I do if bugs are triggering my Kasa Cam Outdoor?

If your Kasa Cam Outdoor is placed in an area where dust or bugs are a problem, you can change the minimum motion duration setting. You can configure the minimum motion duration found in the Privacy and Sensitivity tab of your camera setting. Refer to the question “How can I reduce the number of false alerts I receive from my Kasa Cam Outdoor?”

Questions Regarding Kasa Care Subscriptions

Q1:  Do I have to purchase Kasa Care individually for each of my cameras?

Kasa Care services have Plus and Premium plans.

If you subscribe to the Plus plan, you need to subscribe to the Kasa Care service for each camera individually.

The Premium plan applies to per Kasa account. After you subscribe to the Premium plan, up to 10 cameras bound to the Kasa account can enjoy the Premium plan.

Q2:  When will my Kasa Care subscription start and when will I be billed?

Your Kasa Care subscription starts on the day after your set up the camera successfully. You can select to use the free plan or purchase a monthly/yearly subscription. You will be billed on the same day when your monthly/yearly subscription is activated.

Subscriptions automatically renew, and users can cancel the plan before the next bill date to avoid being billed for the next cycle.

Note: With a free plan you’ll only have access to your last 12 hours or 2 days of video history depending on the Kasa Cam’s model number. You may opt-out by Canceling the paid plan before your trial ends.

Q3:  How do I change my Kasa Care payment information?

You will be able to change your payment information at any time through the Kasa app. Launch the Kasa app, click on the “ME” icon at the lower right corner of your screen, go to Kasa Care, and then click on Payment to change your payment information.

Kasa Care only allows for one payment card on file at a time.  Notifications of transactions, subscription and payment issues will be sent via email.

Q4:  Can I change my billing cycle?

Yes, you change your billing cycle for each Kasa account. When changing from an annual to a monthly plan we will refund you for the remaining unused days of Kasa Care.

You can change your billing cycle by selecting Kasa Care from the side bar, canceling your current subscription and creating a new subscription.

Q5:  How do Kasa Care subscription renewals work?

Your Kasa Care subscriptions will automatically renew at the end of the billing cycle unless you choose to cancel the service.

Q1: Is there a free trial for the Kasa Care plan?

With the new Kasa Care service, every Kasa account is eligible to sign up for a free trial for the new Kasa Care plan once.

Q2: Can I get a free trial for the new Kasa Care if I already had a free trial of the legacy Kasa Care plan?

Yes! Every Kasa account is eligible for a one-time free trial of the new Kasa Care services.

Q3: How many free trials can I have for the Kasa Care plan?

Each Kasa account is eligible to sign up for a free trial once.

Q4: Can I cancel a free trial?

Yes. You can cancel a free trial at any time from the Kasa app. Do note, however, that your account will not be eligible for another free trial after the cancellation.

Information related to User Migration

Q5: How to migrate from the legacy Kasa Care plans to the new Kasa Care plans

If you have active legacy Kasa Care subscriptions for your Kasa Cameras, you can migrate to the new Kasa Care plan on your Kasa app. To view your options, open the sidebar by tapping the “≡” button in the upper left corner of the Kasa app and select Kasa Care.

To migrate and upgrade, please click on “Upgrade to New Plans” and you will be taken to the new Kasa Care ‘Select Services’ screen. You could just follow the subscription instructions to finish the migration. All legacy Kasa Care subscriptions will be terminated, and the prorated refund will be issued to your credit or debit card on file.

You can also cancel your existing subscription first and subscribe to a new Kasa Care plan later. Upon cancellation, all legacy Kasa Care subscriptions will be terminated, and the prorated refund will be issued to your credit or debit card on file.

Please note that once you’ve completed all the steps of “Upgrade to New Plans” or “Cancel Subscription,” you cannot purchase the legacy Kasa Care plans again.

Migration is one way and cannot be undone.

Please contact TP-Link support if you see a message reporting that “This subscription cannot be refunded” while migrating to the new Kasa Care plan.

Q6: Do I still have access to the legacy Kasa Care’s free features after I cancel my legacy service?

First, you will be refunded when you cancel the legacy Kasa Care Plans. After cancellation, your Kasa Cameras will automatically revert to the legacy Kasa Care’s free features:

· KC100 and KC110 will still have 12 hours of free cloud storage for 2 years from the original setup date.

· KC120 and KC200 will still have 48 hours of free cloud storage for 2 years from the original setup date.

· KC300 will still have 48 hours of free cloud storage for 1 year from the original setup date.

· KC310 will still have 12 hours of free cloud storage for 1 year from the original setup date.

Depending on the camera, you will have one or two years of free cloud storage.

Any paid subscriptions will not pause the countdown clock on your free storage.

Please note that once you’ve canceled a legacy Kasa Care plan or migrated to a new Kasa Care plan, you cannot subscribe to the legacy Kasa Care plans again.

Q7: Can I keep my existing legacy Kasa Care plan for my Kasa Camera?

Yes. You can keep your existing legacy Kasa Care plan. However, if you cancel or make changes to your plan, you will not be able to return to the legacy plan. You can switch to a new Kasa Care plan anytime from the Kasa app.

Q8: Can I alter my legacy Kasa Care plan?

You cannot make other changes to your legacy Kasa Care subscriptions.

You can cancel your legacy Kasa Care plan or migrate to a new Kasa Care plan at any time.

Plan cancellation and change

Q9: Can I cancel or change my Kasa Care subscription?

Yes. Your Kasa Care plan cancellation/change will take effect immediately. All video history outside of the new plan limits will be erased and cannot be recovered.

Either a prorated refund or a prorated credit will be issued accordingly.

If you still have one or more cameras in your Kasa Care subscription, you’ll get a prorated credit applied to your next bill.

Note: Your Kasa Care subscription can either be billed monthly or annually. You can found the current billing cycle (next invoice date) by tapping on the Kasa Care in the sidebar of the Kasa app.

If you wish to change your billing cycle, you may tap on the Kasa Care in the sidebar, canceling the current subscription and create a new one.

Q10: Can I add more than 10 cameras to one premium plan subscription?

No. The maximum number of cameras under one Premium Plan subscription is 10. If you want to enable Kasa Care service for more than 10 cameras, you can sign up for another Kasa account or change all cameras to Plus Plan. Plus Plan subscriptions are per camera and there is no maximum camera limit.

Q11: Can I subscribe to both Plus and Premium Plans at the same time for one Kasa account?

No. Only one subscription type is allowed per Kasa account.

Q12: Does my Kasa camera still have a free cloud recording?

When you register for a Kasa Cam, you can enjoy the free Kasa Care service depending on the model number of the camera.

With the free service, you will have access to 12 hours or 2 days of video history for the Kasa cameras.

Note： The other cameras don’t have free cloud recording except the models listed below.

Note: The 2-year/1-year free plan begins after the camera is set up successfully.

Q13: Does my Kasa camera still have a free plan if I cancel my subscription plans?

Yes! You always have the Free Plan for the Kasa camera. When you cancel the paid plan, the camera will go back to the free plan with 12 hours or 2 days of video history. Please note the free plan starts timing after the camera is set up successfully. The free plan will be unavailable only when it expires.

Q14: Can I Retrieve a clip that shows “No longer available”?

No, there is no way to retrieve these clips. Some users may want to see clips labeled “no longer available” in the Kasa app. These clips are not available since they are not stored on our server anymore.

You cannot retrieve these clips by subscribing to a Kasa Care plan, either.

Q15: Why can’t I use the manual recording feature on KC105 or KC115?

Q16: What’s the difference between a free plan and a free trial?

The free plan refers to 2-day or 12-hour Free cloud storage accompanied by the camera itself (depending on the model no. of the camera), which you can enjoy without subscribing to Kasa Care. The old models of Kasa Cameras, including KC100, KC110, KC120, KC200, KC300, and KC310 have this feature, while the new models that support SD cards do not have the free plan (free cloud storage).

Free Trial is a trial for a limited period when users subscribe to a paid Kasa Care.

A: After cancelling the service, you’ll be issued either a prorated refund or a prorated credit. If you’ve cancelled your Kasa Care subscription, you’ll get a prorated refund. Q3: Can I view cloud video clips after cancelling?

What are activity notifications?

Kasa Cam utilizes your smartphone’s push notification feature to alert you of activity. When your camera detects any activity (sound and/or motion based on your camera settings), it will send a push notification to your mobile device. Tapping on the notification will take you to “Activity” tab in your Kasa app. From there you can view a video recording of the activity.

How do I turn on or off activity notifications on my mobile device?

Kasa Cam utilizes the push notification of your smart phone to inform you of detected activities by the camera. This feature can be turned on during or after the installation process. This guide will show you both.

During installation:

While going through the setup process, the app will remind you to enable the notification feature. If you tap “I don’t want to be notified, then you may need to turn on this feature manually after the installation process.

After installation:

Method 1:

1: Open your Kasa app, tap the “three lines icon” on the top left corner, and then click on “Settings”.

2: Tap “Notifications”, click on the camera which you want to enable notification function. Here we take KC120 as an example.

3: Enable “Activity Notifications”, if you select “Always” in the page, you will receive notifications all the time. If you select “Custom Time”, you can custom a time period when you will receive the notifications.

Note: If your enable “Automatically Limit Notifications”, Kasa app will limit the frequency of notifications you receive to no more than one notification per five minutes regardless of activity.

Do I need an account to be able to use a Kasa Smart camera?

Yes, All TP-Link apps and services require the creation or use of a TP-Link ID. This is a universal account that is used to manage and access your TP-Link apps or services. One account can be used across multiple apps or services, so if you use products such as Deco, Kasa or Tapo all you have to do is create one account to access them all. You can refer to FAQ 1961 for more information.

What are the requirements to use the Kasa App?

Please download and update the latest version of the app from Google Play or the App Store. OS requirements may change with future app releases. Check your app store for information on the latest requirements.

Note: Currently, there are no plans to support other operating systems such as Windows, Mac or Linux. Kasa is only available on Android and iOS devices.

What encryption types do Kasa cameras support?

What does the Notification Frequency option do?

This option allows you to reduce the number of notifications in a particular period of time. One notification for every 5 minutes of activity. This is useful when monitoring a particular busy area.

Why clips or snapshots in the Activity Center when motion detected?

If you are using the local storage option or have not subscribed to Kasa Care you will still receive a notification if activity is detected but there will not be a recording to review in the activity Center.

For local storage go to Cameras > tap on the Camera > tap 24/7 recording to review record activity.

Does Kasa camera support email notification when it detects an activity?

No, Kasa cameras only support Push Notifications.

Who can manage my camera and view recordings?

How do I view a Kasa camera on a computer?

At this time Kasa Cameras do not support RTSP so viewing a camera’s stream on a computer is not possible.

What 3rd Party Home Assistants are supported?

Bother Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are supported. This is a cloud-to-cloud integration and you will be required to connect your Kasa Account to their service in order to use voice control or view the livestream on a compatible device, like Nest Hub or Alexa show.

Make sure there are no other devices causing interference. If there are you may want to relocate them or the camera.

Does the Kasa camera support manual recording?

Yes, however you will need to have a Kasa Subscription in order to trigger manual recording.

How can I delete recordings of Kasa camera from Kasa APP?

Tap on the Activity tab, then tap on the recording. Tap on the options button and select delete.

Do Kasa Cameras support 24/7 recording?

Yes, all current Kasa cameras support 24/7 recording. This feature requires local storage via a MicroSD card (sold separately).

Can you delete 24/7 recordings using the Kasa App?

When using the 24/7 recording feature the oldest recordings are automatically overwritten. You can delete all contents by reformatting the MicroSD card in use.

How can I download a clip to my PC?

For 24/7 recordings simply take the cameras MicroSD card and using a adapter transfer the contents from the card to your computer

For cloud storage you will need to download the individual clip to your phone and then sync it to your PC or use a cloud storage, like Dropbox or iCloud to access and download the clip to your PC.

Can I restore deleted recordings?

No. Deleted records are not recoverable.

How long will a clip be stored on a MicroSD card?

This depends on the size of the MicroSD card and the video quality used.

How secure are Kasa cameras?

How many Kasa cameras can be managed by one account?

How do I change the email address of my Kasa App account?

There is no current way to change the email address. You can create a new TP-Link ID, however, you will need to remove the devices from the old account and rebound them to the new one.

*Note: If you are using Kasa Care services you will need to cancel the account and resubscribe under the new account.

How do I switch to another Kasa account in the Kasa APP?

You will need to log out of the current account and login with the new one. Kasa APP ->Me ->View Account -> Log Out ->Login

But please note if your Kasa devices have already been bound to the previous account, you will need to remove those devices first from the old account and bind them to the new one, here is the guide for unbinding them from the old account. Or you could reset the devices manually.

Can I still use my Kasa camera if there is no internet?

You can use the camera or watch the live view without an internet connection, but please ensure both your phone and the camera are connected to the same wireless network.

Note: Motion detection or any other service associated with the TP-Link Cloud will not work if there is no internet access.

How do I turn off the camera?

How do I use Push to Talk (PTT)?

Like a walkie-talkie, you can use a Kasa Camera to communicate with those around the camera. Simply press and hold the microphone button in the Kasa app. Once you hear the chime you can begin to speak. Release the button to allow for the other person to respond.

Why can’t I hear the sound of the camera when clicking the “Push to Talk” button on the camera?

Our camera’s 2-way audio is half-duplex. It can only send or receive at a given time.

Can KC300 and KC310 use the same hub?

Yes! The hub (KH300/KH310) supports both KC300 and KC310 at the same time, the maximum limit of the cameras connected is 16 cameras for 1 hub.

What is the meaning of Class 10 in SD cards?

SD cards are divided into Class 0/2/4/6/10 according to different read and write speeds. Class 10 is one of the faster-speed classes of SD card flash memory. It’s suggested to use an SD card whose read and write speed is Class 10 or above.

How to set up the Schedule feature?

On the live screen, there is the Schedule icon. Customers can set a time to turn off or on the camera.

When the camera is off, its video stream service is disabled, which means you cannot live view, and would not get any detection or notification. The camera is in standby mode.

How Do I Remove my Kasa Cam?

iPhone:

Find your camera on the device list in your Kasa App.  Swipe to the left to remove the camera.

Android:

Find your camera on the device list in your Kasa App.  Select and Hold to Remove.

Through App Settings:

Step 1:  From the Camera’s page, open settings and click Delete on the bottom.

Step 2:  Read the warning and click Delete Device

Note:  Be aware that when you remove your camera the following will take place:

Your Kasa Cam will be removed from your account and restored to factory settings.

All configured settings and notification settings will be removed.

When removing the camera, your existing recordings will not be deleted and your subscription recording plan will remain unchanged.

How Do I Setup my Kasa Cam?

Please following the instructions step by step in this article to go through the entire setup process, then you can control the Kasa Cam with your Kasa app.

Before we begin:

1. Please download Kasa Smart from App Store or Google Play and install it on your smartphone.

2. Connect your smartphone to your home Wi-Fi network.

3. Plug your Kasa Cam into a power socket.

If the light does not blink orange and green, please reset the Kasa Cam as per UG/QIG.

Step 4: Connect your phone to the Kasa Cam’s Wi-Fi network.

For Andriod:

Kasa will look for your Kasa Cam automatically, and it will take about a minute.

If you have a problem with this step, please go to Settings->Wi-Fi on your smartphone and manually connect to Kasa Cam’s Wi-Fi network (same as iOS).

For iOS:

You need to connect to the Kasa Cam’s Wi-Fi network manually, please go to Settings->Wi-Fi on your smartphone and manually connect to Kasa Cam’s Wi-Fi network (which is named Kasa_Cam_xxxx), and then go back to the Kasa app to continue the setup process.

Step 5: Choose your home network to connect, enter the password of your home network.

Step 6: Name your Kasa Cam

Step 7: Enable Activity Notifications. If you enable this function, your camera can alert you whenever it detects motion. If you don’t want to be notified, click on “I don’t want to be notified”.

Step 8: Follow the instruction to mount your camera. If you do not want to do it now, click on “No Thanks”, and we have completed the setup of Kasa Cam.

Where Can I Place my Kasa Camera

Kasa Cam is an indoor only camera that can be placed on any flat surface or vertically mounted using the magnetic base or the mounting accessories provided.

When selecting a location to place your Kasa Cam we suggest an area that has a clear field of view, and no obstacles that may interfere with your viewing experience.  Areas that face your front or back doors are typical locations.

How do I move my camera to a different wireless network?

You can change the wireless network by resetting your camera, and then following the regular setup process.

Step 1:  With your camera plugged in remove the back cover.

Step 2:  Using a paperclip press the reset button for 5 seconds.

Step 3:  Once the LED is blinking amber and green launch the Kasa App and click on Add device.

Step 4:  tap Choose from Pre-configured Devices.

Step 5:  You will have an option Reset my Device or Don’t Reset my Device.  If you are just changing the wireless network choose Don’t Reset my Device.

*Note:  Be aware that selecting RESET MY DEVICE will return your camera to factory defaults removing your current camera settings, and will delete all activity and clips associated with your camera.

What are the sensitivity settings and how do I control them?

There are two sensitivity settings: Motion and Sound.

Motion sensitivity indicates how little or how much activity must occur to trigger a notification.

Sound sensitivity indicates whether you want to listen for noise or not.

You can access the camera sensitivity settings from the device details page. For motion sensitivity and when sound sensitivity is enabled, your options are more sensitive, normal or less sensitive.

How to View the Recordings on a Kasa Camera

You will need to log in to your Kasa account in the Kasa app to view your camera’s recorded clips.

Note: If the camera enjoys the Kasa Care service, the clips uploaded to the cloud server are maintained based on your Kasa Care subscription plan.

How to add your cameras using the V5 GUI…​

Step 1:​

Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your NVR in the address bar. If you are not sure what this is, use the SADP tool to find it.​

Step 2:​

Log in to the NVR using the “admin” username and password you have set on it.​

Step 3:​

Go to: Device Access > Device Configuration > PoE Settings​

If you are connecting your camera via the Plug-and-Play method, then make sure that Network Camera Plug-and-Play is enabled on the POE port you will be connecting the camera to on this page.​

For any camera with a cable run under 100m, leave the Network Cable Distance as Short Distance.​

If you are connecting your camera manually by IP address, disable the Network Camera Plug-and-Play option for the channel that you plan to add the camera to.​

Step 4:​

Go to: Device Access > Device > Video Device​

For any Plug-and-Play camera, just make sure that it is in its inactive default state and then connect it to the port you reserved in step 3. After 20 seconds or so, the camera Status should turn to Connecting and then Online (you may need to click on Refresh to see this).​

For Manually added cameras, if you can see the camera in the List of Online Devices section, then just tick the box for the camera and then click + Add to Device List, which will then automatically add it to one of the channels you disabled Plug-and-Play on in the last step.​

Click on +Add at the top of the page and fill out the fields as follows:​

IP Address: Enter the IP address of your camera, using the ‘Test’ button to verify there is a camera at that address. ​

Device Name: This can be anything you like, as it is the name the camera will show with on your NVR. ​

Protocol: Select the camera’s manufacturer from this list, or failing that, use the ONVIF protocol (your camera will need to have ONVIF enabled for this to work). ​

Management Port: Enter the Server port set on the camera, which you can find in the SADP tool or in Network>Basic Settings>Port in the camera’s web browser interface. If you haven’t changed this, it is usually 8000 by default. ​

User Name: “admin” or the username of any other users set up on that camera. ​

Password: The password set with that user on the camera – if this is the same as the ‘Default Activation Password‘ you have set on the NVR, then you can tick this box instead. ​

Transfer Protocol: ‘Auto’ is normally best. ​

When these are completed, click OK.​

Your camera should then appear in the list of devices with an assigned channel, and an Online status, meaning it has been successfully added.​

How do I reset my Hikvision device to factory settings?

In some cases, you’ll need to reset your Hikvision device to its inactive factory state. This could be if you’re passing the system on to somebody else; if you’ve forgotten your password; or simply if something has gone wrong during the configuration, meaning you need to start afresh.

There are a couple of ways of doing this, the method you’ll use depends on whether you have a password to log into the device.

Factory reset by using the device’s pushbutton:

On the majority of Hikvision’s newer camera models, there will be a pushbutton on the camera which will allow to carry out a hard reset without needing to log into it. This is most useful when you have forgotten your password, as it allows you to set a new password on the camera while avoiding much of the faff involved in doing this through the SADP tool.

WHEN WILL THE VMS STOP BEING SUPPORTED AND AVAILABLE?

The Optiview VMS 2018 will continue to be available to download for a limited amount of time, but will no longer be supported going forward.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF DEVICES THAT CAN BE PUT ON THE FREE VMX OR THE PAID VMX+?

The free version of the Optiview VMX will suport up to 64 cameras. If the user wants to view more than 64 cameras, they will have to purchase the Base License, and then an additional license for each channel, up to 512. See which software is right for you here!

HOW DO I UPGRADE FROM THE VMS TO THE VMX?

The VMX software is completely different from the Optiview VMS and a user can use both. The VMX Server and Client software can be downloaded here.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE VMX SERVER AND THE VMX CLIENT?

The server runs all the services and acts as a connection point for several clients that will handle the management of configurations, devices and integrations of one or more IP devices supported by the Optiview VMX software.

IF I HAVE THE SERVER DOWNLOADED, HOW DO I DOWNLOAD THE CLIENT?

The client can be downloaded using the link from the server user interface labeled as “Download Client”. I also made a link for the Client software within our technical support page which Georgia can use, to make a download link within the product resource page.

CAN I DESIGNATE THE NUMBER OF CAMERA CHANNELS BEING SEEN BY THE VMX PER DVR OR NVR?

Yes. The number of cameras “actually” in use by a device (for example a 32-ch NVR) can be designated within the VMX so that it can only sees the actual number of channels. For example, If a user is using multiple 32 channel recorders but not all channels, the VMX can be set to not count every single channel and maximize the usage.

CAN I DESIGNATE THE NUMBER OF ACCESS CONTROL DOORS BEING SEEN BY THE VMX?

No. Whatever the maximum number of doors that an access control panel can handle is, that is what the VMX will see. For example, a CAS-4MC (4 door master control panel) is expandable up to 64 doors, so this will max out the VMX. No additional master control panels can be added unless the user upgrades to the paid version of the Optiview VMX.

CAN I SEE THE HUMAN TEMPERATURE DETECTION & NOTIFICATION SOLUTION ON THE VMX?

The human temperature text overlay can be seen at LIVE mode and Playback mode at the VMX.

HOW MANY USERS CAN ACCESS THE VMX AT ONE TIME?

It doesn’t matter if it showing not network, just click ok, then go back to app.

The camera often offline

1, Check whether the camera antenna is vertically upward.

2, please confirm the distance between the camera to your router, it better within 30FT, if the distance too far, the camera will offline.

3, If still offline, please give your camera version, we will give you a firmware to upgrade camera, it can enhances the camera’s signal.

Camera can’t connect to wifi

1, please confirm wifi is 2.4G or 5G, the camera only support 2.4G. And wifi password cannot exceed 12 characters.

2, if it is 4G wifi, please place the camera next to the router, then press the reset button for 6 seconds to add device again.

3, or you can connect the camera to your router with network cable, then switch to wirelessly connection.

How to using PTZ function on NVR?

1, please left click your mouse, you will see a smart menu below, click PTZ control.

2, click the arrow direction to move the camera.

Please note, if your camera is digital camera, you can’t zoom in or out in this interface, it only suit for optical zoom camera.

You need to go back to main menu, left click mouse again, click zoom in, then roll you mouse to zoom in.

How to share the device to other one?

a, Please go to the app–click “Share” icon–select permission and effective time.

b, after click complete icon, you will get a QR-code.

Please note that another phone must first download the application “esecloud” and then register a new account. One account cannot log in to two mobile phones at the same time.

Unable to hear camera sound

If “x” is displayed on sound option, it is not turned on, you need to turn on first.

If still can’t hear sound, please go to setup interface—recording settings—verify that the “Record Sound Switch” option is enabled.

How to setup motion tracking

If you add camera to NVR, please go to video detection to check whether your nvr support motion tracking.

Usually, NVR not support motion tracking, you need to add camera to the app Eseecloud, then add to NVR, so that you can setup motion tracking on the app.

How to set preset position cruise

1, go to setting interface—ptz control—cruise mode—select preset position cruise.

2, go back to record interface–click Preset–add more than two different positions–go to More–click cruise.

After setting successful, the camera will cruise within the preset position range.

Camera not recording after install SD card

1, Please go to setting interface–Storage setting–local storage space–check the status of the SD card.

2, SD card is in normal status, please check if SD card capacity is full, and then format the SD card.

3, If showing no SD card, please take the SD card out and insert it again. (Please keep the power off before inserting the SD card)

Alexa not skill Eseecloud

1, Please check if you have enable Alexa option on the app, click setting icon, advance settings, Alexa service authorization.

2, you need to login Eseecloud account with phone number or Email address, If you use third-party software to log in to Eseecloud, such as Google, you cannot log in to Eseecloud on Alexa

Fixed-point cruise on NVR

1) Right click the mouse–system setup–channel setup–PTZ setup. select correct channel. Add first cruise point,

2) click add to set first position (the default is 1, which does not need to be changed),

3) then click preset box select 2–add, add multiple cruise points in this way. You also can select “keep time” you want, preferably in five seconds or more.

4) And then click “?” question mark into the PTZ control interface–click PTZ control option to set first position, then click store.

5) change the preset box to 2, adjust the camera lens to second position–store

6) right click anywhere –return to the PTZ setting interface–apply—ok.

Network Setup for NVR/DVR/IP Camera before adding to Guarding Vision

The Following network settings must be checked before adding the device to Guarding vision App.

Method 1: From NVR Local menu

Step 1: Right Click on the NVR Monitor and select “Menu”.

Step 2: Select “Configuration” from the Menu options.

Step 3: Select “Network” and check the option “Enable DHCP” Click “Apply”

Step 4: Make sure your NVR/DVR obtained an “IPV4 Address” and “Preferred DNS Server” values automatically. If not, check your network settings and make sure your device is properly connected to your network router or switch.

Step 5: Select “Platform Access” and check “Enable”.  You will be taken to the service terms window.

Step 6: Create a “Verification Code” check the “Guarding Vision service terms” click “OK”.

Step 7: Click “Apply” to apply the settings. The status will change to “Online”. The QR Code being displayed on your device “Platform Access” page can be scanned with Guarding Vision app to add the device into your App. To proceed with adding the device into the app scroll down to “Adding NVR/DVR to Guarding Vision App”.

Step 3: Once the account is created, select “Device Management” and select “Add” to add a new device.

Step 4: In the “Add Device” pop-up window, input the device serial number (Last 9 digits of the serial number found on the device sticker) and click on “Search”.

Resetting password from the Guarding Vision App

Step 1: On the NVR login screen, click on “Forgot Password”

Step 2: On the following screen as shown in figure below, select “Verify by Reserved Email” and click “OK”

Platform Access for Guarding Vision Offilne Issue

Guarding Vision Offline Issue

Purpose:

This document provides steps to fix the Platform Access “Offline” status issue on your NVR/DVR.

Solution:

The most common cause for “Offline” status is when the “Preferred DNS Server” space is empty. Follow the steps below to fix this issue.

NVR Local menu

Step 1: On the monitor connected to the NVR, Right click and go to Menu  Configuration  Network  General

Step 2: Enter the “Preferred DNS server” address as 8.8.8.8

(Note: If “Enable DHCP” is checked, you can check the option “Enable DNS DHCP” which will let the NVR/DVR pullup its own Preferred DNS Server)

Step 3: Click “Apply”. The device might take a few seconds before applying the new values.

Step 4: Now go to Menu  Configuration  Network  Platform Access. The status should show “Online”. The device might take up to 60 sec before showing the new status. Click “Back” wait 60 sec and check the status again.

(Note: You can scan the QR code on your “Platform Access” page to add the device directly to your Guarding Vision App.)

Setting up the DVR/NVR

Step 1: On the DVR/NVR screen, right click Select Menu  Configuration  Network.

Step 2: Under “General” input the “Preferred DNS Server” as 8.8.8.8 as shown in the figure below.(If you have “Enable DHCP” and “Enable DNS DHCP” option on this page selected, then you do not have to perform this step)

On the Primary account, swipe the device name to the left to access the “Share” Icon. Tap on the Share icon. This will take you to the “Recipient” page.

In the “Recipient” page enter the email or phone number of the user you want to share the device.

When sharing, make sure the Phone number/email/username are entered as shown in the account details.

On the bottom of the app, Tap on “More” and select “Account Management” to view the Account details like Username, Email address(if used to register) and Mobile Phone Number (If used to register).

Step 1: Log in to the IP Camera with internet explorer and Go to Configuration  Network  Advanced Settings  Platform Access

Step 2: Check the “Enable Option” you will see a pop-up window asking to create a verification code. Enter the desired verification code and click “OK”

Step 3: You can view the verification code by clicking on the eye lid icon.

Step 4: Click “Save” and refresh the page. The status should turn from offline to online.

Method 1: Adding an online device in the local network

Step 1: Open Guarding vision App and select “Guarding Vision” on the bottom of the App. Click on the “+” icon on the top right to access adding menu.

For a IP Camera, the “Platform Access” should be enabled from the web menu.)

Method 2: Manual Adding option

(Note: Using this method, you can add a portforwarded device with a public IP address.)

Step1: Open the App and click on the “+” icon on the top right to access the add menu. Select “Manual Adding”.

Step 2: Select “IP/Domain” to change the adding type.

Step 3: Create a name for the device by typing in the “Alias” option.

• Input the “IP address” of the device and the login Credentials. Tap on  icon on the top right to save the values entered.

(Note: If you have a device with a port forwarded IP address, you can enter that public IP address in the address space with the device login credentials.)

How To Upgrade Blue Iris Demo Software With An Amcrest License Without Losing Settings

If you are currently using a demo version of the Amcrest Blue Iris software upgrading your account will not reset your settings. All settings will be retained on the software after the upgrade is complete. For more information on how to upgrade your demo version of Blue Iris to paid version, please follow the steps provided below.

Step 1: Open your Blue Iris software and click on the Settings option (  ) in the upper left corner of the interface and click on Settings/info.

Step 2: In the About tab, click on the Register now option.

Step 3: In the Activation screen, click Next

Step 4: Enter the Amcrest license number or key you have purchased into the activation box. Click Next to continue.

Step 5: Click Finish once the code has been activated.

Step 5: The new license key has now been applied to your Blue Iris software. The information can be viewed in the License Key section of the menu. Click OK to continue.

The “Evaluation Copy” overlay will be removed from the live view screen and your previous settings will be accessible throughout the software.

Blue Iris UI3 update Issue

If you are attempting to update to a new version of the Blue Iris software and receive an error such as:

this is not a result of a bug or issue with the software itself but is a result of an update made to Visual Studio C++ compiler which is the software used to build Blue Iris. To resolve the issue, a simple reinstall of the software will fix the problem, however, if you wish to resolve the issue without reinstalling the software, please refer to the information below.

A resolution will be based on the which version of Windows you are running. For instance, if you are operating on a 64-bit version of Windows you will need to search and run the VCREDIST_X64.exe to resolve the issue. If you have a 32 bit system you will run the VCREDIST_X32.exe.

If this file is not found on your computer you may run it from the following URL blueirissoftware.com/VCREDIST_X64.exe (or VCREDIST_X32.exe for 32 bit).

Step 1: Load the VCREDIST .exe file and click Run

Step 2: Click on Install.

Step 3: A restart of your computer will be required to complete the install. Click on Restart to restart your computer.

After your computer has finished restarting please load the Blue Iris software and run the update as normal. If this does not fix the issue a full re-install of the software may be required. To re-install the Blue Iris software on your computer, access the Control Panel and click on “Uninstall a program”.

Locate the Blue Iris Software from the Programs and Features list and click Uninstall. Select “Yes” to remove Blue Iris from your computer. For more information on how to install Blue Iris on your computer click

Note: It is recommended to not delete any registry entries or license activations during this process.

Click Finish, to restart your computer and complete the uninstall.

Blue Iris Not Automatically Starting up After a Crash?

If your Blue Iris software crashes or becomes unresponsive and the software does not restart automatically with its last settings displayed then the software may need to be ran as a Windows service. By default, Blue Iris 5 is not set to run as a Windows service so therefore would have to be implemented manually. For more information on how to set Blue Iris as a Windows service, refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Open Blue Iris 5 and click on the settings menu located in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 2: In the Settings menu, click on the Startup tab.

Inside the Startup tab, make sure the “Use last window position” option is selected in the Window field then click on the “Run as a Windows service (no UI, run again for console)” checkbox. This will enable your software to run as a Windows service. Click OK to continue.

Step 3: The service will install automatically. Click OK to reboot or restart the Blue Iris software.

The software is now running as a Windows service which allows the software to reboot with last settings in tact after a crash or service interruption.

How to Add a Camera Into Blue Iris

The camera and the computer you are using must be on the same network during setup. Please make sure you are running the most current version of Blue Iris during setup. The latest version of Blue Iris can be downloaded here.

There are 2 ways to add a camera into Blue Iris. You can right click on the main menu, or click on the settings menu (  )in the top-left corner of the interface.

Adding a Camera

To begin, right-click on the main interface or click on the settings menu () to access the “New camera” menu.

In the new camera menu, give your camera a name, a short name (for URLs and filenames), choose a type, which in this case will be a Network IP, and enable any options such as, enabling audio, motion detection, etc. Click OK to continue.

This will open two windows. The top window will be Network IP Camera Configuration. Enter the address of your camera (IP Domain or DDNS as well as RTSP address) and click on the Find/Inspect… button on the right to confirm. Enter the username and password, select the make as Amcrest, select the model of your device (ProHD and HDseries cameras as “ProHD 1080p RTSP/HTTP”), and specify the RTSP and ONVIF ports.

Note: If you choose the other option profile, “ProHD/IP2/3/4/4M Mainstream RTSP” features such as PTZ or other related features may not be accessible. Please use ProHD 1080P RTSP/HTTP in the Model field.

After filling in the information required, click OK. The second window will appear titled New Camera. Here you can make many adjustments to the way you want Blue Iris to configure your camera.

The page is defaulted to the Video tab. The options available for adjustment are Image Format and Frame Rate, PTZ Controls, Recording through Blue Iris, Alerts through Blue Iris, and other features. Once you have finished adjusting any necessary settings, click on OK to add the camera. The live view screen of your camera will show in the interface.

How to Renew a Key in Blue Iris 5

Any expired keys in the Blue Iris 5 software will cause the software not to work with any connected cameras and may cause them to be inaccessible. Keys in the Blue Iris software provide up to one year of service from the initial start date of your license and will need to be renewed before they expire.

Note: Please ensure you are using the most up to date version of Blue Iris. To download the most up to date version of Blue Iris, click here.

Step 1: Click on the settings menu (  ) located in the top-left corner of the interface and select “Settings”.

Step 2: In the bottom left corner of the Blue Iris Settings menu, click on the Upgrade/renew button to renew the key for your license.

Note: The new expiration date will be displayed in the menu and will be good for one year of the initial start date.

When you have purchased or renewed your account you will receive a new code in your email. Once the new key provided is entered into the Activation menu, press the “OK” button.

Additionally, if you are upgrading from version 4, please allow access and remove version 4 from your system. Please say NO to deleting any of your settings. Settings are automatically backed up to C:\Program Files\Blue Iris5\backup_upgrade_50.reg. Click OK to continue.

How to Enable Two Way Audio Using Blue Iris

If your camera supports two-way audio and you are using it in Blue Iris, two-way audio can be configured directly in the software. Please make sure a compatible microphone is set up and configured on your computer before enabling it in Blue Iris. For more information on how to enable two-way audio using Blue Iris please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Log into Blue Iris and access the device.

Step 2: Click on the Blue Iris software settings icon.

Step 3: Click on the Audio tab and enable the Enable audio capture hardware option.

Note: Make sure the proper microphone is selected in the Device dropdown menu.  Use the Gain slider to adjust and test the microphone audio.

Step 4: Select the proper output device for your computer in the Output (Device) dropdown menu and click OK.

Step 5: On the main interface click the speaker option to hear the audio from the device. Then click and hold the microphone icon and speak into the microphone.

Enable Vehicle Analytics

Vehicle analytics uses powerful edge-based capabilities to detect vehicles and filter results based on vehicle color and body type.

How it Works

Vehicle analytics leverages the cameras’ powerful onboard processing capabilities to detect the presence of, and analyze the properties of vehicles as they appear in the frame. As vehicles are detected, high-resolution images are taken and analyzed for vehicle objects. Selected images are then sent to Verkada’s cloud-based Command platform, where users can filter historical clips for vehicles and search for specific vehicles by time, date, body type, and color.

All Verkada cameras perform vehicle detection (as outlined above) out of the box. However, to enable more complex analytics, such as the ability to search for vehicles by color and body type, vehicle analytics must be turned on.

Verkada’s people and vehicle search features use advanced computer vision functionality to identify people and vehicles within the camera’s field of view and quickly find relevant events.

The Verkada Command UI enables instant video replay previews and trajectory viewing. Trajectory analysis features offers possibilities for searching events, reduces the number of missed detections, improves the detection distance, and reduces duplicates.

Required. You must have Site Viewer and Site Admin access to view the Motion tab under the camera feed. Learn more about Roles and Permissions for Cameras.

You can view people and vehicles detected by a Verkada camera within historical footage.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera to view its feed.

3.At the top, click Motion.

4.To the right, click Show Pathsto toggle on/off the feature.

5.(Optional) Make a selection on the video player grid to search for motion in the area.

6.(Optional) Use the People, Vehicle, and Date filters for more granular searches

7.Hovering over a thumbnail with the people or vehicle filters selected gives a count of the people/vehicles in the frame with an option to archive the clip. By hovering over the previews, you can see tracks for the individual.

8.Click the thumbnail to be taken to the exact time in the recorded footage.

Note: People and/or vehicles will only be available if these objects were detected in the camera frame.

View people trajectories (paths)

The people trajectories feature visualizes the paths of people moving through the scene to show the trajectories of each detected person.

Trajectories drastically improve the motion event recall and enable the cameras to recognize people and vehicles at a further distance. For a detailed breakdown of the detection ranges of each model, see the People Analytics Guide.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera to view its feed.

3.At the top, click Motion.

4.(Optional) Make a selection on the video player grid to search for motion in the area.

Set People of Interest notifications

To receive alerts for People of Interest, you need to set up alert based on your events.

IMPORTANT

People of Interest replaced Profiles on June 8, 2023. Profiles created before this date that were not set as People of Interest are not automatically send People of Interest alerts.

To set up notifications when a particular face is detected:

You can manually create a People of Interest group by uploading an image of a person’s face.

Merge People of Interest

Sometimes duplicate People of Interest are accidentally created. If this happens, you can merge the duplicate People of Interest profiles.

Create a new tag to People of Interest

You can create and add tags to People of Interest to group similar profiles together.

Type the desired name and at the bottom of the tag list, click Add Tags.

Select the profile and select the plus (+) icon (adjacent to the Tags button). If the tag you want to add is already in the list, you can select it from the list.

performance of marketing and promotional activities.

Note: This feature is available on the CB52, CB62, CM42, CD32, CD42, CD52, and CD62 models.

Installation guidelines

Required. To use this feature, People Analytics must be enabled. To do so, follow the steps in the People Analytics guide.

For best performance, we recommend these installation guidelines during the installation of a camera where Occupancy Trends will be enabled:

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.Select a camera and go to the camera’s Settings page.

3.Scroll down to the Analytics section and toggle on Occupancy Trends.

4.Return to the camera’s main page and select the Analytics tab (displayed below the camera’s live feed).

5.Click Add lines to open the wizard.

6.Click and drag the camera view to draw a line across the screen. You can draw multiple lines, though data from all lines are aggregated.

7.Click one of the dropdown menus (displayed near the arrow heads) to change how users crossing in that direction are counted. The Ignore option indicates that users crossing this direction are not counted by the Occupancy Trends feature.

8.After you set up the lines for the camera’s view, click Save.

Verkada’s motion display feature offers two ways to see live motion on your site’s floor plans in real-time.

Set up motion detection

With motion detection, the camera’s field of view pulses when motion is seen. This happens in real-time.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans.

2.Select the building and floor plan you want to monitor.

3.On Floorplans, at the bottom right, click Motion Detection.
