How to Perform a Firmware Upgrade – Via EZTools 2.0

Now that you understand the importance of a firmware upgrades, you’ll want to know how it’s done. The easiest way to upgrade your camera’s firmware is via EZTools 2.0; Uniview’s robust camera configuration tool. You can download that from the support section of our website – 

After installing EZTools 2.0, open the software and follow the steps below to update your Uniview cameras’ firmware:

If you selected an NVR during steps 1 and 5, you will be able to upgrade all cameras added to the NVR during step 6. So, this method makes it very quick and easy to perform a firmware upgrade.

How to Perform a Firmware Upgrade – Via Web Interface

Another way to perform a firmware upgrade is via the web interface of the camera. To access the web interface of the camera, use EZTools 2.0 to find the local IP of the camera and enter it in your web browser. Or, you can click the “Remote Web” icon to automatically open the camera in your default browser.

Login to your camera via the web interface; you may have to change the default password first. Once logged into the camera, navigate to Setup -> System -> Maintenance. You’ll see two options under Software Upgrade: “Local Upgrade” and “Cloud Upgrade”. If you already have the latest firmware package on your computer, choose “Local Upgrade” otherwise use the cloud upgrade function by clicking “Detect”. If a new firmware is available, the button will change to “Cloud Upgrade”; click it again to update the camera to the latest version.

How to Perform a Firmware Upgrade – Via NVR (using local monitor)

The previous two methods of upgrading your firmware require a laptop or desktop computer to complete. If you don’t have access to a computer, you can also upgrade the camera’s firmware through the NVR’s local interface. Of course, the NVR must be connected to a monitor via VGA or HDMI so you can see what’s happening.

Using a USB mouse connected to the NVR, right-click to open the menu and select “Main Menu”. Navigate to Maintenance -> Upgrade -> IPC Upgrade for a list of all cameras added to the NVR. Click “Check for Update” at the bottom for the NVR to search Uniview’s servers for the latest firmware version for your cameras. Next, select the cameras you’d like to upgrade by checking the box on the left side. Finally, click “Upgrade by Cloud” and hit “OK” to upgrade the selected cameras firmware.

Conclusion

It’s important to regularly keep the firmware on your Uniview cameras updated to the latest version for security and performance reasons. How to Update Uniview Cameras Firmware (2024 Instructions)

If you own a security camera system, it’s very important to keep the firmware updated for all the components such as the cameras, recorders, and even the apps/software used for monitoring. Occasionally, vulnerabilities are discovered which can be exploited and have the system hacked or misused.

Recently, Uniview announced a security notice regarding their firmware and equipment that required an update to close bugs that allowed users to target the cameras.

Another reason to update the firmware of the cameras is to enable new features or other technical improvements.

Sometimes cameras may underperform and the update may fix issues such as a bad image, erroneous behaviors, unresponsiveness, etc.

Usually, Uniview releases a major update every quarter, and a minor update every month. Basically, you need to pay attention to your equipment and ensure that the units are using the latest firmware at all times.

In this guide, we will show how to update Uniview cameras, what software to use, and how to find the right firmware.

How to update firmware on Unview cameras

There are three ways how you can update the firmware:

Upgrading the firmware via EZTools

The easiest way to update Uniview’s camera firmware is by using the EZTools software. This tool can be downloaded here (or from Uniview’s website) and it’s basically a configuration tool.

It allows the user to scan the local network. Simply locate Uniview cameras and then by following the prompts you can update the firmware.

Once the EZTools is installed, run the tool. The software will scan the local network and list all the found devices (as shown in the picture below).

Check the box beside the camera (or NVR) that needs firmware update. Then click Login (the status should show “Not Logged In”). In this window, you need to type the camera’s username and password and then hit OK.

Next, click the Upgrade tab on the left hand. Choose Local Upgrade if you have previously downloaded the firmware in a .zip or .bin format (on your computer). Otherwise, select Cloud Upgrade.

Tick the box beside the device that needs to be updated and then hit Upgrade to start the process. The tool will show if there’s a new firmware update; if so, hit OK and the upgrade procedure will start right away.

Usually, it takes 2-5 minutes to complete. During this time, don’t disconnect the camera or perform any other action. If interrupted, the camera may be bricked.

If you did select to update an NVR, you will be able to update the cameras hooked up to the NVR during the last step. This method makes it easier to update all the devices at once. And as we said, keep all your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrading the Firmware via web interface (for UNV devices)

Another method to update the firmware is by accessing the device via the web browser and going through the on-screen prompts.

First, you need to find the IP address of the unit; install EZTools software in your laptop/computer and find out what’s the local IP address of the camera.

Once you have that information, go to the web browser and type the IP address in the URL bar. Additionally, you may click the Remote Web icon in the EZTool and the software will automatically open up the web interface.

Once you log into the camera using your username and password, navigate to Setup > System > Maintenance. In this section, you should see two options under Software Upgrade: Local Upgrade and Cloud Upgrade.

If you have the firmware downloaded to your laptop, choose Local Upgrade, locate the file, and start the upgrade process. Otherwise, select the Cloud Upgrade option by hitting Detect.

The camera will check online if there’s any update package available; if so, the button will change to Cloud Upgrade. Click update and wait until the unit is updated.

Once the update is done, the unit will automatically reboot. Wait until it comes back online.

Upgrading the firmware via the Uniview NVR

The two previous methods shown above require a laptop or a desktop computer to update the firmware.

If you don’t have access to a computer, you can easily update the camera’s firmware directly to the NVR’s interface. The NVR needs to be connected to a monitor (or TV) and you can use a mouse to navigate.

Right-click with your mouse and select the Main Menu option. Then navigate to Maintenance > Upgrade > IPC Upgrade where you should see all the cameras added to the NVR.

Hit the “Check for Update” button and the NVR will start searching Uniview’s servers for any available firmware.

Then, select the cameras that you want to upgrade by ticking the box. Click “Upgrade by Cloud” and wait until the firmware is updated. In some cases, the NVR may reboot.

Method 1. Updating From The NVR

1.Log into the Main Menu of the recorder.

2.Navigate to Camera > Camera > Advanced

3.Click on the By Cloud button for each camera that needs to be upgraded. Each camera can also be selected by clicking on its check box and then clicking the By Cloud icon to the right.

Method 2. Updating From The NVR Web Interface

1. Load the recorders IP address in Internet Explorer. Login to the recorder once the login page is
loaded.

2.Navigate to the Settings menu and then to Camera in the left hand menu and then to IP Camera in the sub menu.

3.Navigate to the Advanced settings tab

4.In the list of cameras find the cameras that need to be upgraded and click the Upgrade By Cloud Button

5.The cameras status list will then display downloading followed by uploading % and then finished off with upgrading. After it is done upgrading the camera will reboot.

Method 3. Upgrading From Camera Web Interface

1.Find the local IP address of the camera and navigate to the IP address in Internet Explorer

2.Login to the camera and navigate to Setup > Maintenance > Maintenance

3.Locate the Cloud Upgrade Detect button and click it

4.The camera will feed back A New Version Detected for Upgrade

5.Then click the Cloud Upgrade button again

6.The camera web interface will then show a camera is updating overlay.

Method 4. Updating From EZTools

1.Open the EZTools Program

2.Select the Upgrade Tab on the Left side

3.Click on the Online Upgrade Tab

4.Checkmark the Device you would like to upgrade

5.Click on the Upgrade button on the bottom right corner

6.Once online upgrade is clicked the EZTools will search automatically for newer firmware for the
selected devices. The EZTools will then give you a popup showing the current device firmware
and the newest available device firmware. Check off each device that you want to upgrade on
the left hand side and click the OK button at the bottom.

7.The status of the device in the main list of devices will then read updating

8.After the update is done the device status will say Upgrade Succeeded, the device will then
restart and be up to date

Method 5. Updating From EZView App

1.Open the EZView app and navigate to the main menu in the upper left hand corner of the app.

2.Select the Devices tab. The device that has a red circle next to it shows that an update is available for the recorder or the cameras.

3.Assuming that the device has already been added to the app (if not add the device) click on the
device and select the P2P Upgrade button.

4.In the next menu select all of the devices that have the red circles next to them indicating that
they need to be firmware updated

5.Click on the Start Upgrade button at the bottom of the screen. The update will take about 5-10 min depending on how many devices and internet speed.

6.After giving the recorder enough time check back to the app to see if all of the red circles are gone. If they are this will let you know that all selected devices upgraded correctly.

User can search and download the file installation of Seetong*.*.*.apk through Google Play shop ,360 application market ,Xiaomi application shop ,Huatu application market ,Baidu application market ,Pea Pod and so on

3.3 Unload method

User find Seetong via mobile phone program management, click ‘unload’ button to unload software

4 Register and Login

The software register and login can help user learn our procedure and user method

4.1 User Register

Cellphone/ Mailbox： Receive verification code

Login password： 6 to 32 bits character；

After finishing register , it will skip into “ user login’ interface,then input correct user name and password to login . The device list is empty if it is the first time for user to login , it will show follow list after including user list

5 Video Preview

5.1 Video preview

Click device on software main interface and enter video preview interface ,preview and playback video as the picture below：

5.3.1 Capture

On real time preview playback interface ,click“”to capture image as the picture below, then enter into 【multi-media】–【picture】 as the picture below ：

5.3.2 Record

When playback vidoe ,click record button“” and begin to playback video ,the button will become green“”，the preview interface show red and recording time, start recording and click record button again until finish. The recording file will be saved in 【multi-media】–【video】 as the picture below：

5.4 PTZ Control

Attention : It need our device to support PTZ function firstly and PTZ basic configuration parameter should be correct ,then user can begin PTZ control . If device doesn’t support PTZ , click PTZ button will show nothing.

User can touch screen to start up ,down ,left ,right ,zoom in and out operation when playback video , turn PTZ with different direction in order to achieve device image zoom in ,zoom out and restore functions

6 Device List

The green means “online ‘playback video stream on device list after normal connection , the orange means device“ offline ”and can’t playback video stream . User can add ,delete and search list and modify name on device list as the picture below

Attention : system will give hint if device is offline

6.1 Add Device

6.1.1 Add device by user name and password

Click upper right corner button then enter into device add interface, input device cloud ID number ,account and password . After finishing ,click “add’ button, only information is correct, it can add normally. User also can scan R code to add device .The added device will be added automatically. The user name : admin ,default password is 123456 as the picture below:

6.1.2 Scan to add device

In order to simplify operation, our software added the function through scan QR code to add device function. Firstly user need visit device local LAN IP address, then enter into device webpage, there is a QR code in network state of network configuration as the picture below. Open client Seetong ,click scan QR code to add device automatically

6.1.3 Set camera WiFi

Firstly it need confirm that mobile phone have connected WIFI network .Then open Seetong mobile phone client , click “set camera Wi-Fi” on add device interface, enter into “ wireless configuration interface as the picture below

Search the device ID you need change ,click . For example : 526806 is device WIFI ID, connect network of 526806 and enter into WIFI password interface ,input Wi-Fi password ,click next step, it will remind you that WIFI configuration is successful

Attention： please confirm that mobile phone record and connect a normal Internet WIFI.

6.2 Delete Device

When add wrong device ID, the ID will be added in device list , user need delete needless device .Choose the needless device ,then pop up prompt dialog box ,click confirm button and delete as the picture below

Attention： If user want to delete NVR device , he only can delete NVR device , but not delete channel quantity

6.3 Search Device

Search dialog box as the picture below . User need input keyword and system will search automatically when there are many devices, the eligible content will show in search dialog box

6.4 Modify IPC/NVR and channel name

Because our system have stored device cloud ID automatically, it is not easy for memory ,user can be permitted to modify IPC/NVR and channel name .Choose necessary device and will popup relative dialog box, input new channel name and confirm as the picture below：

6.5 Modify camera wifi

User need modify camera user name and password by considering the security. Firstly input former password, set new password and verification code ,click confirm button then take effect as the picture below：

6.6 Modify media parameter

Modify media parameter refers to resolution, bit rate and frame rate of playback video main and sub code stream. It can set different parameter configuration and watch video result as the picture below：

6.7 Image Rollover

Image Rollover is divided into vertical and horizontal mode and will show different results as the picture below ：

Time zone is man-made system for saving energy, it adopt daylight saving time and can adjust based on different time zone

When device support time zone setting, user only need start daylight saving time setting button ,he can set out –of line time ,start and finish time and date. After configuration success, click store “store ”button , user can enter device to preview time as the picture below ：

6.11 Front-end Recording

Front-end recording aim at these installed storage devices, recording file will be stored in device . The file will record in remote control. User can check video through remote control and search stored recording to playback , The time scale in recording may adjust as the picture below：

Attention： When device can’t support front-end recording playback, it will give hint.

6.12 Restore Factory Setting

When user need restore device parameter before factory, it can click restore factory setting button as the picture below ：

When device detect new update firmware ,there is a red point on firmware update interface, click red point and update software to the newest version as the picture below：

7 Local Recording

Click “multi-media” on software interface and enter recording management interface, local recording file uses recording button to record file .After entering local recording interface ,user will see all files according to time sequence, which playback ,derive and delete file as the picture below

7.1 Recording Playback

User can playback recording file on local recording interface. When playback recording, choose the file to playback then will pop up mobile player , then will start playback. User can click on fast and slow forward

7.2 Recording Delete

Patrol time： when video preview mode is loop playback, the time interval is second

Telephone receiver mode : start telephone receiver mode means that it uses telephone receiver to monitoring and playback recording with small voice . When user close telephone receiver mode to monitoring and playback ,the voice is big .

Enable alarm ：After starting alarm button ,it will show alarm option, when user click alarm , the device will send alarm voice during preview

Alarm voice：choose disable and alarm voice, when user start the device, it will send alarm voice

Debugging information： choose disable and enabled debugging information, user can check relative network type ,p2p state, playback state information

Display name ： choose disable or enabled alias , user can see device alias in device list and video preview interface.

Display device ID: choose disable and enabled device cloud ID, user can check ID number after starting

Choose “low delay”， which show real time image, but the fluency is not so good. If user choose “fluency ”，which show very fluent image ,but the real time is not so good . If user choose“normal”，the video playback will be ok between low delay and fluency as the picture below ：

1、 Why can’t mobile phone watch the video?

A. When user login , please confirm added device ‘s user name and password if they are right.

B. Check mobile phone if it connect network

5.3 Capture and Recording

5.3.1 Capture

On real time preview playback interface ,click“”to capture image as the picture below, then enter into 【multi-media】–【picture】 as the picture below :

5.3.2 Record

When playback vidoe ,click record button“” and begin to playback video ,the button will become green“”,the preview interface show red and recording time, start recording and click record button again until finish. The recording file will be saved in 【multi-media】–【video】 as the picture below:

5.4 PTZ Cotrol

Attention:It need our device to support PTZ function firstly and PTZ basic configuration parameter should be correct ,then user can begin PTZ control . If device doesn’t support PTZ , click PTZ button will show nothing.

User can touch screen to start up ,down ,left ,right ,zoom in and out operation when playback video , turn PTZ with different direction in order to achieve device image zoom in ,zoom out and restore functions.  

6 Device List

The green means “online ‘playback video stream on device list after normal connection , the orange means device“ offline ”and can’t playback video stream . User can add ,delete and search list and modify name on device list as the picture below

Attention : system will give hint if device is offline

6.1 Add List

6.1.1 Add device by user name and password

Click upper right corner button then enter into device add interface, input device cloud ID number ,account and password . After finishing ,click “add’ button, only information is correct, it can add normally. User also can scan R code to add device .The added device will be added automatically. The user name : admin ,default password is 123456 as the picture below:

6.1.2 Scan to add device

In order to simplify operation, our software added the function through scan QR code to add device function. Firstly user need visit device local LAN IP address, and then enter into device webpage; there is a QR code in network state of network configuration as the picture below. Open client Seetong, click scan QR code to add deviceautomatically

6.1.3 Set camera WiFi

Firstly it need confirm that mobile phone have connected WIFI network .Then open Seetong mobile phone client , click “set camera Wi-Fi” on add device interface, enter into “ wireless configuration interface as the picture below

Search the device ID you need change ,click . For example : 526806 is device WIFI ID, connect network of 526806 and enter into WIFI password interface ,input Wi-Fi password ,click next step, it will remind you that WIFI configuration is successful

Attention: please confirm that mobile phone record and connect a normal Internet WIFI.

6.2 Delete Device

When add wrong device ID, the ID will be added in device list , user need delete needless device .Choose the needless device ,then pop up prompt dialog box ,click“ ”button and delete as the picture below

Note: delete the NVR devices, the devices list can be deleted, the channel number is not allowed to delete.

6.3 Search Device

Search dialog box as the picture below . User need input keyword and system will search automatically when there are many devices, the eligible content will show in search dialog box

6.4 Modify IPC/NVR and channel name

Because our system have stored device cloud ID automatically, it is not easy for memory ,user can be permitted to modify IPC/NVR and channel name .Choose necessary device and will popup relative dialog box, input new channel name and confirm as the picture below:

6.5 Modify media parameter

Modify media parameter refers to resolution, bit rate and frame rate of playback video main and sub code stream. It can set different parameter configuration and watch video result as the picture below:

6.6 Image Rollover

Image Rollover is divided into vertical and horizontal mode and will show different results as the picture below :

6.7 Alarm Setting

Enable motion detection and alarm information switch, user can check alarm signal, when detect alarm information ,there is a read point then send alarm voice, mobile phone will receive information as the picture below:

Time zone is man-made system for saving energy, it adopt daylight saving time and can adjust based on different time zone

When device support time zone setting, user only need start daylight saving time setting button ,he can set out –of line time ,start and finish time and date. After configuration success, click store “store ”button , user can enter device to preview time as the picture below :

6.9 Restore Factory Setting

When user need restore device parameter before factory, it can click restore factory setting button as the picture below :

6.10 Firmware Update

When device detect new update firmware ,there is a red point on firmware update interface, click red point and update software to the newest version as the picture below:

6.11 Modify Code Stream Parameter

User can modify resolution ,frame and bit rate to main and sub stream parameter, then watch different result as the picture below:

6.12 Front-end Recording

Front-end recording aim at these installed storage devices, recording file will be stored in device . The file will record in remote control. User can check video through remote control and search stored recording to playback , The time scale in recording may adjust as the picture below:

7 Local Recording

Click “multi-media” on software interface and enter recording management interface, local recording file uses recording button to record file .After entering local recording interface ,user will see all files according to time sequence, which playback ,derive and delete file as the picture below

7.1 Recording Playback

User can playback recording file on local recording interface. When playback recording, choose the file to playback then will pop up mobile player , then will start playback. User can click on fast and slow forward

7.2 Recording Delete

Click“ edit“ button on top right corner, choose the recording file to delete ,click “” button and will pop up prompt dialog box“ be sure to delete ”,click “ OK “ as the picture below :

7.3 Recording Export

User can export recording into mobile for watching any time ,click “” button,the interface will give hint“succeed share and save in album ”, then recording will export into mobile phone album and check any time

8 Local Album

Click “image” on“ multi-media ”interface and enter into local album management interface .user can check captured picture ,it support mouse to zoom in and out as the picture below:

User also can delete captured picture , it only need click “edit” button on top right corner ,choose the file to delete ,click “”button, will pop up window, then click “OK” as the picture below:

User can import album into mobile phone so that he check any time

9 Seetong Information

When Seetong issue new information ,there is a red point on interface ,click it to check the newest information as the picture below:

10 Alarm Information

When start motion detection , system will send alarm and its record will be recorded in alarm information. User can click edit button on topper right corner and delete alarm information if it is necessary as the picture below :

Patrol time: when video preview mode is loop playback, the time interval is second

Telephone receiver mode : start telephone receiver mode means that it uses telephone receiver to monitoring and playback recording with small voice . When user close telephone receiver mode to monitoring and playback ,the voice is big .

Enable alarm :After starting alarm button ,it will show alarm option, when user click alarm , the device will send alarm voice during preview

Alarm voice: choose disable and alarm voice, when user start the device, it will send alarm voice

Debugging information: choose disable and enabled debugging information, user can check relative network type ,p2p state, playback state information

Display name : choose disable or enabled alias , user can see device alias in device list and video preview interface.

Display device ID: choose disable and enabled device cloud ID, user can check ID number after starting

1、 Why can’t mobile phone watch the video?

A. When user login , please confirm added device ‘s user name and password if they are right.

B. Check mobile phone if it connect network

C. Device version is too low and doesn’t include P2P function

2、It happens time delay and disconnection during watching video

A、 Network condition is poor , wireless network is weak.

B、The setting about video frames and resolution is too high , user can reduce them to improve video fluency and stability.

Operation processes with remote controller to control multi-DVR

The default device ID of the DVR is 0. It’s not necessary to reset the device ID when a remote is to be used to control a single DVR. However when controlling multiple DVRs with multiple remote controllers, you would need to configure the device ID, please refer to below steps:

Activate remote controller to control the DVR: Turn the IR sensor of the remote controller towards the IR receiver on the front panel, press the “ADD” button on the remote, then input device ID of the DVR to be controlled (Range from: 0-998; the default device ID is 000) and press MENU to confirm.

You can check the device ID of a DVR from Main Menu – System – General – DVR No. You can also set multiple DVRs with the same device ID however this can cause interference if the DVRs are kept close to each other.

During live: Double-click on any camera window for the full screen mode. Double-click again to return to the previous screen mode. Right click to reveal the control menu on the screen.

In Configuration: Click to enter a particular option. Right click to cancel the option or to return to the previous menu.

In order to input a value in a particular screen, move cursor to the input box and click. An input window will appear. It supports digits, alphabets and symbols as inputs. Click  or  to input Capital letters and symbols;

You can change some values using the mouse wheel, such as time. Move cursor onto the value and roll the wheel to change value.

It supports mouse drag. For e.g. setting up motion detection area, click customized, hold down the left button and drag to set motion detection area.

In Playback: Click to choose the options. Right click to return to live mode.

In Backup: Click to choose the options. Right click to return to previous picture.

Note: Mouse is the default tool for all operations unless an exception, as indicated.

Power on the DVR

Step1: connect the DVR with the power socket via the power adapter. Step2: the device will be loaded, and the power indicator will display blue. Step3: before start, a wizard/guide dialogue box will pop-up and show some information about time zone and time setup, etc.

Note:

The  wizard  guide  will  take  you  to  the  settings  on  the

Time/Language/Network Test, just follow the on-screen instruction and click the Next Button. If you do not wish to get the pop-up dialogue box each time you turn on your DVR, you can also turn it off.

You can shut down the device by using the USB mouse.

Step1: Enter into Main Menu and select “Logout” – “Shut Down” icon. This will take you to a shutdown window.

Step2: Click Shutdown. Then the unit will power off after a while. Step3: Disconnect the power.

User can login or log off the DVR system.

The default user name is “admin”. There is no password, just leave it blank. For operational on changing password, adding or deleting users, please refer to section 4.5.2 Account.

Shortcut Menu

In the preview mode, right click your mouse to access the shortcut menu (on the right).

Choose Main Menu and log in, you should see this:

In preview mode, right-click and choose Guide.

The wizard guide will take you to the settings on the Time/Language/Network Test, just follow the on-screen instruction and click the Next Button. If you do not wish to get the pop-up dialogue box each time you turn on your DVR, you can also turn it off.

Clink Next to start the wizard setup guide, on the next dialogue box you will be able to configure the date and time for the DVR. Following the steps, you will be able to Enable/Disable the Summer Time, check the network status for the DVR, and download the APP: Xmeye. And use the Xmeye APP to scan the SN code of your DVR for remote access.

Note: For remote access, you can also refer to the Quick Setup Guide (the printed material) and follow the instruction which is simple and straightforward.

Check this box if you do not wish to get the wizard box each time you turn on the DVR. But it is recommended that you do not do so.

You can set the time zone, date and time, format, etc.

You can enable/disable the Summer Time. You can also set the Language here.

Network test: Make sure your DVR is connected with your router using a network cable. You should be able to see them showing as [OK] before you are able to remotely access the DVR. If you do not see the OK status for Gateway, Network, DNS, Click “Network”. And enable DHCP. And try again.

Enable DHCP, and click OK, go back to test the network again, till you see [OK] for Gateway/Network/DHCP.

【 Directional Pad 】 Support up to 8-directional control. Controls the movements and directions of the PTZ. The center button is also used to start the auto-scan of the PTZ.

【Preset】Presets can be set to move your PTZ camera to a desired preset location. Click Start to call the preset position.

【PTZ Trace】 Click to enlarge to full screen. Left-click and drag to adjust the camera angle. Left-click and hold and roll the wheel to zoom in/zoom out.

【Page Switch】Switch between menus.

In preview mode, right-click mouse and choose Coaxial Control. This function is NOT available for the SANSCO cameras.

In preview mode, right-click mouse and choose TVI & AHD.

The SANSCO DVR supports multiple signal types of the camera, i.e. AHD, Analog, CVI, TVI, IP Camera. If your camera channel does not display any image or display a black & white image on it, you may try to change the setting here. Normally the SANSCO DVR comes with AHD cameras, and we have set it at Auto mode, namely it will automatically detect and adjust the signal when it is connected to the DVR. So there is no need to change the setting, you probably need to change the signal types here only if you connect any non-SANSCO cameras to the DVR. However, contact us prior to any change on the settings.

Depending on the DVR model (4-Channel / 8-Channel) you bought, you will have different options on the view mode. There is single-cam view, quad-cam view, multiple camera view, etc.

【Channel】Choose the channel camera to configure separately, or choose All to set all channel at the same time.

【Redundancy】If you check the box for “Redundancy”, the recording will be saved to both hard drives you installed, but make sure you have two hard drive installed inside the DVR, SANSCO 4/8-channel DVR supports maximum one hard drive only, so Redundancy is not available.

【Length】The length of each recording file, default 60min. This is not the total length of the recording.

【Pre-Record】Set the time in seconds to pre-record before the actual recording begins.

【Mode】Schedule, Manual or Stop. Refer to Section 3.5.3 Record Mode

【Period】This is available only when you choose Schedule Record. You can manage up to 4 different periods within a day.

【Record Type】Regular, Detection or Alarm. The Record Type is only available when you choose Schedule Record. Regular: The camera will record based on the time schedule you set on the left side next to it. File type: R

Detect: The camera will record only when it detects movements, video-loss, or video masking. File Type: D

Alarm: The camera will record only when the DVR receives signals from “Alarm Input”, provided that the camera is set to record under “Alarm Input” setting. File Type: A. However, since there are no Alarm Input/Alarm Output on SANSCO DVR, this function is not available.

Note: You should be able to see the File Type when you are doing a Backup.

【Advanced】 Click Advanced to drop down the menu, it gives you the shortcut to go to Live View, copy the current settings, paste the copied settings to current page, set default, and go to Storage (Main Menu – Advanced – Storage).

Recorded files can be backed up to various devices, such as USB flash drives, USB hard drives, or a DVD writer.

Note: The storage must be properly installed before the file backup. Do not try to stop the backup when it is in progress.

【Detect】Search the Storage that has been connected to the DVR. Try a few more times on this button.

【Backup】Once the DVR detects the Storage that connects to it, you can back up the file from your hard drive to the USB Storage. You can click “Backup”, on the next dialogue box you will see the Backup dialogue box.

You will be able to search the desired recorded files that you want to backup, you can search the files by: Type, Channel, and Time. Type: This drop-down menu allows you to choose files from Alarm Recording, Motion Detection Recording, Manual Recording, or General, etc. By default, it is set at ALL.

[Channel]: Choose the recorded files from desired channel camera. Choose ALL for all channels. [Start Time/End Time]: Set the start time and end time to search the desired recorded files. [Add]: Click Add to display the list of the search result.

[Remove]: Click Remove to remove the list of the search result.

[Backup Format]: Choose the file format for the backup files. Available options: H.264, AVI. [Start/Stop/Cancel]: To start the backup, stop the backup, or cancel the backup.

When the channel camera detect any movements, the DVR will trigger the motion detection alarm.

【Channel】Choose the channel camera to detect movements.

【Enable】Turn on or turn off the motion detection alarm.

【Sensitivity】Choose the sensitivity of the motion detection, from Lowest to Highest.

【Region】Click [set] to set up the motion detection masking. On the next screen, left click and mouse and drag to unselect the area, the pink area showed below will be monitored by the camera. Once there are movements in the pink area, the camera will send the signal to the DVR and further trigger the alarm, on the other hand, any movements fall within the white area below will NOT be monitored and detected.

【Period】Schedule the timing for the motion detection activities. You can manage up to 4 different periods within a day. Click the time box to choose the Hour/Minute and it will reflect the same on the green table below:

【Interval】Only one alarm will be triggered within the set interval regardless of how many movements.

【Alarm Output】Once movement is detected, the external alarm device connected to the DVR (via Alarm Output) will be triggered.

【Out Delay】The external alarm normally goes off after a while, however, if you set the Out Delay, then it will not go off immediately, instead it will go off after the set value (from 0 to 300s)

【Record Channel】Choose the channel(s) to record when an alarm is triggered. If you also check the box for FTP upload (below): the recording will be uploaded to FTP Sever as well.

【Tour】 Choose the channel(s) to patrol when an alarm is trigger. You can set the patrol interval (from point to point) via [Main Menu] – [System] – [Tour].

【PTZ Activation】Set the PTZ Activation when the alarm is triggered. You can select any channel or multi channels. Make sure the channel is connected with a PTZ camera already because the SANSCO camera is not PTZ type. When an alarm occurs, the selected PTZ channel will rotate to the preset point, patrol, or zoom in/out, depending on your settings. Check the PTZ Activation menu (on the left):

You will be able to set the PTZ camera to rotate to preset point, Patrol from point to point, or Patrol from point to point plus zoom in/out. You can set differently for each channel if you like.

NOTE: Before you set up the PTZ Activation, you will need to configure the PTZ Control first, please refer to Section 3.5.5 PTZ control. To go to PTZ Control, please right click on the preview mode and choose PTZ control.

【Record Delay】When the alarm is off, the alarm recording normally stops, however, if you set the Delay, the alarm recording will not stop immediately after the alarm is off, instead, it will last a few more seconds/minutes, from 10-300s.

【Show Message】When an alarm occurs, a pop-up message will show up on the screen of the channel.

【Send EMAIL】When the channel camera detects movement, or an alarm occurs, the DVR will send an email as well. To configure the email settings, go to [Main Menu] – [System] – [NetService] – [Email].

【FTP upload】When an alarm occurs, the DVR will upload the recording file to FTP server, provided you have set up the record channel stated above. To configure the FTP Settings, please go to [Main Menu] – [System] – [NetService] – [FTP].

【Buzzer】If you check the box for buzzer, you will hear a beep sound when an alarm occurs.

【Write Log】If you check this box, the DVR will write the alarm information to the hard drive when an alarm occurs.

【Mobile Reported】If you check this box, you will receive a mobile notification when an alarm occurs.

【Advanced】Click Advanced, the drop-down menu gives you the shortcut to go to Preview Mode, copy the current settings, paste the copied settings to current page, reset to default, or go to Record Config (Main Menu – Record – Record Config.).

Whenever there is any masking on the channel camera, the DVR will trigger the video blind alarm, i.e. when the ambient lighting is too low, or if someone deliberately cover the camera lens result in video masking.

Whenever there is video loss on the channel camera, the DVR will trigger the video loss alarm, i.e. when the video cable is disconnected, this will result in video loss and further trigger the alarm.

When the DVR receive any signals from the Alarm Input (extra alarm input device required), it will trigger the alarm. You will need to choose Normal Open so the DVR will automatically trigger the alarm when it receives the signals from Alarm Input Devices.

When the DVR detects any error or abnormal situation, i.e. storage error, IP confliction, disconnection, etc., it will trigger the alarm.

【Event Type】No Storage, Storage Device Error, Storage No Space, Net Disconnection, IP Conflict.

【Enable】Check the box to enable the alarm function.

【Show Message】When an error occurs (listed in Event Type), a pop-up message will show up on the screen of the channel.

【Time Zone】Time zone that you want the DVR to use.

【System Time】The date and time for the DVR.

【Date Format】Choose the date format.

【Date Separator】Choose among: “.” and “-” and “/”.

【Time Format】Choose time format: 24-hour or 12-hour.

【Language】Support multiple language.

【HDD Full】Stop record: Stop recording when the hard drive is full. Overwrite: Overwrite the oldest recorded files and continue recording when the hard drive is full.

【DVR No.】Refer to 2.4 Control with Remote – Operation processes with remote controller to control multi-DVR.

【Video Standard】PAL or NTSC. PAL for Europe, NTSC for America.

【Auto Logout】Set the DVR to automatically logout after some time.

【Machine Name】Name your DVR.

【DST】Check the box for DST (Summer Time) and click DST to see the dialogue box below. Setup per your preference.

【Channel】Choose the channel camera.

【Compression】Standard H.264.

【Resolution】Resolution 1080N/960H/D1.

【Frame Rate】Adjustable from 5 to 25FPS

【Bit Rate Type】You can choose between VBR (variable bitrate) and CBR (constant bitrate). Under VBR, you can choose different Quality (up to 6, from lowest to highest). Under CBR, you can set different Bit Rate (Kb/s).

【Bit Rate】The higher the value, the better the video quality. Below is the bit rates normally used in different cases: 1080P (1024~8192kbsp), 720P (1024~4096kbps), 960H (869~4096kbps), D1 (512~2560kbps), HD1 (384~2048kbps), CIF (64~1024kbps), QCIF (64~512kbps).

【Frame Interval】Choose among 2~12s.

【Video/Audio】Choose whether to stream video or audio (SANSCO camera does not support audio streaming).

【Extra stream】Normally used when the network condition is not good or when you use mobile devices to remotely access the DVR.

3.4.3Network

【Net Card】The SANSCO DVR is installed with a wired Ethernet card, so by default it is a Wire Netcard as seen above.

【DHCP Enable】It is recommended that you check this box, and the DVR will automatically obtain an IP address from your router, if you have connect the DVR with your router using a network cable.

【IP address】When the box for DHCP Enable is uncheck, you can set the IP address of the DVR.

【Subnet mask】Set the subnet mask for the DVR. Default: 255.255.255.0.

【Gateway】Set the gateway for the DVR. Default: 192.168.1.1.

【Primary DNS】【Secondary DNS】Set the DNS for the DVR.

【Media port】The port used for the software client CMS. Default: 34567.

【HTTP port】The port used for webpage access. Default: 80.

【HS Download】High Speed download.

【Transfer Policy】Adaptive/Quality Preferred/Fluency Preferred. Choose any of the three per your preference. Adaptive means the DVR will automatically adjust the video quality and fluency, Quality Preferred means the DVR always prioritize the quality over fluency, and Fluency Preferred means the DVR will put fluency as priority over quality.

Choose the network service option and click the set button to configure the advanced network functions or double click the service button to configure the parameters.
